London Funk

I don’t have an highly educated nose but I don’t care, I love this! I got it as a sample from Luckyscent, read the notes and the few reviews and decided to try it immediately for fun since I was most likely not gonna like it. It starts citrusy, warm. Then at the heart I get grapefruit ( ? ). There is a weird vibe to it but an addictive one. Projection and longevity is really good on me! I was hooked! So much so, I got a full bottle. Not a safe blind buy.

i love this but not on me. this smells like walking past a man with a nice crowd-pleasing cologne who just hotboxed it with some friends in his car. while no cannabis note is listed, it's all my nose can pick up on. this benefits from the smoky earthiness that props up what would otherwise be another department store fragrance marketed towards men.

Really beautiful sparkly vetiver and citrus scent. Green and earthy but fresh. I am not sure what you are all smelling but to me it smells refreshing and calming. Perfectly unisex. Highly recommended.

A super addictive scent with a huge note of grapefruit-frankincense that hides a wonderful subtle barbershop blend of vetiver and bergamot. Eternal and with good sillage. Absolutely great.

It is a very straight Hashish scent, you cant wear this to work. It is super strong and works well on me, it has nice greenish background that makes it appealing in hot days.

Cannot believe the reception this fragrance has received! This is an insanely beautiful fresh, green fragrance. Upon initial spray you get a burst of fresh citrus, with a green, clean, soapy feel. The bergamot & basil really stands strong here. After about 10-15 minutes you begin to get the woody undertone, though it doesn't take centre stage. 95% masculine scent, though i feel a women can get away with it if layered correctly. Similar to other Vilhelm fragrances, London Funk has moderate longevity but great sillage, definitely a compliment getter. Based on the reviews and mixed reception this fragrance has received, definitely test before you buy.

This isn't as terrible as other are making it sound. Its still a no for me but the other day my husband was wearing it (I didn't know what he wear wearing) and I really liked it! I had to ask what he was wearing because it was that good. So I guess it's better on others but definitely not me. Masculine scent for sure. Do not blind buy. Sample sample sample! Sorry I can't provide details on the notes but just wanted to share my experience. 🙃

Aromatic, woody and green. The herbal facet from the basil is quite prominent to my nose, making this very masculine. Considering that I’m a female who isn’t especially partial to green scents, this is not unpleasant. It is quite sparkling and bright at first, but gets earthier in the dry down. I would enjoy this on my husband in the warmer months. As a Londoner born and raised, I don’t think this scent is especially aptly named.

This opens with a sparkly grapefruit Vetiver then after about 1/2 hour I get cannabis. I think that’s the funk the name is referring to but, but it reminds me of Swept Away by Mugler. I would categorize this as unisex leaning slightly masculine skin scent. Not a lot of sillage on me and Ok durability- I resprayed myself every 3 -4 hours.

This perfume is a punch in the face with authorative, maculine, and herbal notes. And when I say that this is herbal, it is an understatement. It is sweet in a green way, not sweaty as some people have said. And all the juniper, and I almost can’t smell anything else. But after a while you get some sparkly citrus that ties it all together. Kinda addicting in a weird way? I also feel like this has an old school vibe. Like a man with a white shirt and a trenchcoat, a nice watch and a well groomed beard. London Funk, I get it. The drydown is very comfortable, subtle and calm – but woody and herbal on your skin, like a warm hug. But the juniper is very prominent during the whole wear, and the whole wear is pretty long, I think this sat on my skin for close to 12 hours.

I get a very nice green, herbal tea blend with a citrus sidekick. There's something a bit musty and earthy as well that i can't put my finger on but i certainly don't like it. It's possibly a part of the tea note or some of the woodsy notes. Maybe a blend of vetiver and wood. Maybe this is the "funk" the fragrance refers to. It's not entirely an unpalatable blend but it's not something i'd wanna smell like. I think i'd prefer to smell this on a man but ultimately it's fairly unisex.

This smells to me like a stinky dude who smoked weed a couple hours ago and is now trying to hide it with cologne, but the cologne’s not doing a very good job. It’s very aromatic and woody but has something that literally makes it funky. Maybe it’s the basil. You absolutely get that typical cannabis smell in the the dry down, which I can get down with but maybe not in the context of this fragrance. Pretty masculine leaning. I'll pass on this one. 2/10

Though I typically love a green herbaceous scent, this one is not doing it for me. You really only get the basil in the very beginning, and even then, something about it feels idk just kind of unpleasant/underwhelming. Within 2 mins it's a nondescript men's body wash/cologne etc. Honestly if anything this is an homage to how impressive axe is that luxury scents remind me of it, but yeah, it reminds me of axe.

The opening is my favorite, fresh and clean without being soapy. As it begins to settle I get a typical mass appealing masculine scent, as it wears the cannabis note becomes more apparent. It does have a sharpness to it when you sniff your arm & when you get passing whiffs. Had the top + cannabis been the entire experience....this would've been a winner.

It’s not the best type of a cannabis note in fragrances. It’s harsh, smoky, earthy but also sort of soapy. Mostly reminds me a traditional male chypre scents with lots of oakmoss and some fresh lavender. This one is modern, but can’t say it’s better. I could imagine it on a man, but still wouldn’t be a big fan of it.

The bad thing with this is that the cassis is too heavy, super heavy. I dont know why I am getting a harsh cannabis unpleasant smell.

Oh dear. How can such an expensive scent smell like the fag end of a cheap bottle of men's aftershave left unsold in a discount chemist and thrown into the bargain basket at the end of the season? Well, London Funk can. On the first hit, I got definite greens, like grass that was recently cut but left to dry out on the lawn. That, I imagine, was the basil as the scent reminded me strongly of Vilhelm Parfumerie's Basilica. It was accompanied by a brief and vaguely citrusy waft that died away in minutes, which I put down to the bergamot. Then, very quickly, that funky cut grass scent started smelling mouldy. There was a "dirty" spice undertone, that reminded me faintly of old sweat, warm garbage, or rubber burnt into a road. This I attributed to a mix of bitterish, herby mate, and musky ambergris. Literally, 20 mins later, the scent is clinging to the skin. What's left smells acrid and old - not dissimilar to an old bottle of Lynx my brother had lying around the family bathroom for years. Uggh, no thanks.

Если не знать состава пахнет каким-то дешевым мужским средством перед (или после) бритья, крайне резкий и сильный аромат, на мой взгляд ни капли не унисекс как заявлено, одинаково подходит для любого времени суток, сезона и помещения/улицы по заявлению, аромат имеет следующие ноты: Top notes are Bergamot, Juniper, Basil and Cardamom; Middle notes are Cassis and Driftwood; Base notes are Vetiver, Mate, Cedar, Ambergris and Sandalwood. Зная состав, чувствуется на половину доминирующий хвойный аромат, остальное я не могу разобрать. Если вы работяга с завода которому как бы все равно чем пахнуть но все же хочется использовать парфюм - это было бы для вас, не стоило бы это 25 тысяч рублей, супер оверпрайс за такую цену когда какое-то средство для бритья имеет крайне схожий (если не такой же) аромат. Мне такое не нравица и чувствовать такое на ком-то мне тоже не нравица.

To me this just smells 100% like a dentist's office. Like someone went to the dentist and bottled the smell of impression compound and dental cement. Leans more masculine IMO.

This smell from beginning to drydown like citrusy marijuana. The mate gives it that herbaly direction. Freaking weird and terrible to the nostrils.

Of course this is meant to smell like pot. I don't get dirty train station, just pot and juniper.

a more approachable greenness. not fresh or gardenly. a hot day, dirty city smoke.

I just smell sweat and some very basic cologne

This straight up smells like sweat that somebody tried (and failed) to conceal with a sharp, citrus fragrance. I have only sprayed this on a tester strip and I refuse to spray it on my skin. I will give it to them for the name, as it does smell funky, but in the worst way possible.

This is just horrible I don't recommend To me it has some nasty note as if it contains urine Most likely, it's juniper Sorry, but there is no better explanation for this mess

A blast of citrus and juniper, just not in the sense of a gin and tonic or citrusy cannabis, but rather closer to some cheap bathroom cleaner. Very unfortunate.

This stuff is just foul. You'd smell more appealing if you smeared the juice from the bottom of a dumpster on yourself.

London Funk-by Vilhelm Parfumerie-2021- Surprise! Surprise! The inclusion of the word "Funk" in the title of this Fragrance suggests to me that the scent within replicates that aroma we deem foul or controversial, like the aroma of unwashed armpits, feet, or the repelling waft of a skanky unclean butt-crack and other nefarious areas of the body or, the urine reek of city alleyways that cause the nose and facial features to wrinkle with disgust.These are just some of the things I instantly think about when the word Funk is impressed on a fragrance title. Alas, surprise! This fragrance doesn't go there at all and in no way does this fragrance stink. However disappointed I was in not finding anything funky about this fragrance, after all, I bought it for the shear curiosity of smelling something funky in the lines of Channel #5 or Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent with their legendary animalic leanings and to satisfy my collection of such elegant fragrances that lean on the hint of vulgar. I in no way approve of animal cruelty, but science has recreated some of the famous animalic scents that once graced our old time favorites with alarming accuracy in synthetic form, so that I can freely explore without the conviction. Confidently, with London Funk, there is nothing to worry about in the way of Funkiness. The opening of London Funk is Bright, Citrus, with woody undertones, very clean, crisp and sharp. These citrus scents mellow as the fragrance ages upon your flesh, giving way to a prominent Oud aroma. Interesting, because Oud is not listed in the ingredients. Spicy earthy Basil sits, radiantly, on a bed of Juniper and fragrant Cedar. The combination of Driftwood Sandalwood, Vetiver and Mate could be giving this fragrance the appearance of Oud. Brilliant chemistry going on here to deceive me into thinking Oud was in the mix, when it is not, and what a fine Mock Oud it is and extremely long lasting, at least on my flesh, every fragrance seems to last forever on my flesh for some mysterious reason. When I discovered that Cassia was in the mix, I had to sniff harder to find it. The tell tale aroma of Cat Piss that is notorious for Cassia, is non existent here or so well covered up with, perhaps, Mate or possibly Vetiver that has totally neutralized any hint of pee. Instead what I get from this fragrance is a very nice long lasting sparkling clean Oud type fragrance. It could be that they just forgot to include Oud in the listing, if, indeed, they have not made an error in the line up then they have found a brilliant alternative method for creating the bright woody scent of Oud with these ingredients.The fragrance is rather lovely with an unexpected and surprising result. Very long lasting and leaving trails in your wake. As an avid fan of Oud fragrances, High Roller loves London Funk and recommends it. 5 out 5 exuberant Meows for London Funk.

i smell like a sweaty british christmas tree. put this on in a rush to leave the house from the shared fragrances my family has, now i smell like little sweaty british boys who have been working in the assembly line for 2 days straight not being allowed a 10 min lunch or fucking bathroom break. don’t ever buy this or fucking try it this is the worst fragrance i’ve ever fucking smelt. 7:46 (edit) looking outside of my initial rage i understand that this is a very niche sort of smell for certain people. if you want to smell like a douchebag from london who slicks is hair back and doesn’t let old women sit on the bus instead of him this is perfect for you. but another description for this fragrance is strip club sex, this fragrance for some reason in my personal opinion smells like that. 7:53

I tested a lot of different perfumes at the Vilhelm stand at Libertys. This was one that seemed so fresh and vivacious that I took it home with me. I'd tested black citrus / basilico before this and I think the citrus smells were clouding my judgement a bit as it smelled completely different once I sprayed it on myself outside! It has a classic 'Man' aftershave smell that I just can't really get past. The complete opposite of what I want for summer. If I look past the man smell... It's fresh and aromatic with a sparkling sour sweat note (which I weirdly enjoy). I reccommend you test it on skin before buying.

I really enjoy this one, to me it smells like broken dandelion stems and citrus zest in a citrus gin drink. I could almost see a woman laying in the grass with her sun hat shielding her eyes. Arm sprawled above her head as she lazily twists and twirls dandelions. All while beads of citrus oil shimmer on the lemon peal of her nearby gin drink.

London Funk is a good fragrance. I can literally think of 50 different fragrances that are much more nose-wrinkling than this. This has an interesting scent trail that will leave others intrigued who smell this. No, London Funk isn't a dumb reach or blind buy, but by no means is this a "3.25" fragrance.

I was looking forward to this as I love Juniper . However it made me retch as it smelly like a train station urinal. Or somebody wearing piss stained trousers plus sweet heavy cologne. Needed a good amount of lovely scented soap,a brush and cream to remove it.
