Purple Fig

I’ve loved this since first spray. Sampling it at first with numerous other fig scents, this came out on top. The fig plays so well with the other notes. It’s not heavy like some figs can be but is very transparent, a bit green, and has a fair amount of musk involved. It’s kind of like a greenish lightly floral musk (if such a thing exists) from freshly snipped flower; maybe this is what fresh figs smell like. I don’t know as I’ve never smelled one. It’s lovely in both cool and warm weather, and makes me want to visit the Parisian street (rue overkampf) that inspired this . After wearing this for about a year I’m now realizing that the opening of this smells really similar to Hermes En Mediterrânea, which is a pretty linear scent, but Purple Fig changes quickly and the Galbanum and aromatics take it in another direction that I enjoy more. It’s also super long lasting, with light projection.

Can't wait to wear this in warmer weather. Straight out the bottle it's sweet and green, settling down to an almost fruity musk that I've started to associate with a few of the Vilhelm scents now. My initial reaction to this was 'meh'. Sprayed on paper, it was a smell I could appreciate but wasn't very exciting. However, on my skin, the green fades quite a lot and I'm left with a beautiful fig scent - like you're smelling the inside of a dried fig - but you have to smell quite close to the skin to really smell that. For everyone else, within the sillage cloud, it's quite a sweet but slightly musky smell. This perfume makes me wish I was sitting on an outside veranda on a cliff on the Amalfi coast in springtime, drinking Aperols and watching the sea. I would love to have a bottle of this.

I really loved this scent the first time I smelled it. PF begins with an astonishing opening - a robust, clear lemon undergirded by an earthy mix of angelica and cassis. The fig is gradually introduced, and it adds just the perfect touch. While I wasn’t too sure how fig would mix with the angelical and galbanum it all blends together very well. The intensity of the heart of PF is just right, not too overpowering, but not too light. I smelled more of the sweetness of the cyclamen during the base notes than I did the main part of the fragrance. At least it was more noticeable to me at that point. A floral sweetness with a wood background is a nice ending to a great fragrance that could be worn in a lot of different environments and likely a majority of seasons.

I found this perfume to be very true to the name. Starts off really green (and similar to other fig scents you've smelled before) but quickly develops into a very aromatic, fruity fig, more jammy than green. Pretty solid sillage--I wouldn't call it a full-on scent bubble but I could smell it on myself distinctly for about 4 hours, with 10 hours of wear overall on skin. The woodsy notes come through a little but aren't super distinct on me. Overall, smells clean and fresh but also has something unique and undefinable to it. By far the best performer I've tried in the realm of fig scents.

Picked up a sample of this, smelled it on paper, and immediately knew I had to spray it on my skin. I loved it on my skin, it smells fresh and green and juicy. On the first sniff, my partner said it smelled exactly like Mediterranean food, so maybe that does give credence to the reviewer below me that said this smells like pickles. But after subsequent sniffs, he was as obsessed with it as I was. He smells freshness and greenness with a bit of sensual musk, and we both agreed it smells like you're walking through a forest right after it rained. Beautiful fragrance.

This perfumeit's soo beautiful. It's very personal but it smells exactly like my grandpa's backyard in the mediterranean. I remember he had this fig tree and as a kid I used to climb up with my dad to pick them. It brought me back to so many beautiful memories, almost made me cry. It's so well done, realistic and high quality. Nothing else I can say. Just beautiful fig tree, fresh summer days, a bit green yes, but in such a realistic way. Love love love (I don't get the pickles, wheere?!)

I generally don’t like fig perfumes so I can see how someone who DOES like fig perfumes wouldn’t be a fan of this. To me it smells a bit like Poets of Berlin and Dear Polly had a baby. It’s incredibly fresh (I can see why someone might smell cucumber on this) and only a touch spicy. A wonderful fresh summer perfume, unique and gorgeous. I’m a woman and don’t go for masculine perfumes so I’m not sure how this could be perceived as masculine, though unisex for sure. Really pretty.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and laying in the bark in my parents' yard under their fig tree. The cedar/juniper notes are not overwhelming like many perfumes with those notes are, and allows for the fresh juicy fig to shine, while still grounding and reminding me that the fruit is attached to a tree. The balance of these notes is impeccable and really sets the bar for aromatic/woody fruit scents.

Love this! I get tons of compliments with this fragrance! It pulls very figgy and woody on me, and there is not note listed of tobacco but I get a tobacco and leather vibe on a cold night I’m leaving a jazz club! It’s totally unisex but maybe slightly more feminine. Last super long and leaves an intriguing trail behind! It is quite pricey but it smells the price! This definitely smells lavish!

I love this fragrance. Diptyque uses the fig as well as the branch/leaves in their scent, which I don't like as much. Purple Fig seems to only use the fruit. All Vilhelm fragrances are very pure in that they smell as similar to real life as I've ever smelled. If you love fig, you'll love this fragrance. Edit: It's October 27th, and this smells even better in cold weather!

Opens with spicy woods which over time quiet down to reveal the fig within. I applied this around 7:30A and it lasted till around 5:30P. Then, the next morning, I started smelling it again. Not sure if this has that insane of lasting power or is just that memorable, but super happy I purchased a bottle.

My go to for the spring. This is definitely a strong one- punched right off the top with sparkling bright green notes and a hint of sweetness from the fig. Dries down into a beautifully woodsy musk. I feel like a real forest nymph wearing this. Love love love!

Finally got my hands on Purple Fig! I am in love! The opening is very peppery, but after 10 - 15 minutes sweet Fig and Galbanum are coming out (to my nose its surprisingly fresh and green). The longevity is very good 7+ hours. One of my favorite perfumes now!

I love fig fragrances en most of them with a very outstanding fig scent smell a little bit the same. This one however is a very unique en spicy fig scent. I love to wear it alone or combine it with Gentic Bliss by 27_87 or Skins x Vilhelm.

A great perfume. Reminds me of an old club like atmosphere with dark corners and glasses of port and cigars being consumed. Equally at home on a warm summers afternoon in Australia too... Nice work Vilhelm. By far the best you produce!!

I think a lot of fig scents are sort of similar, this reminds me of Indigo by Nest. there's the weaker jammy fig and tea combo. there's no tea in this but I'm getting sparkly dark purple when I smell this, it definitely has a little tiny bit of black tea somewhere. I do also notice the lemon notes in this, it freshens it. this is like a sparkling iced tea with lemon and muddled squished fresh ripe figs at the bottom of the glass. I think Vilhelm does a great job at classy perfumes, this and moon carnival especially are not unique profiles to begin with, but Vilhelm makes them classy, like adding a cashmere and gold jewelry quality to them. both are mature but not above 40 Years old mature if that makes sense. Purple Fig also has a fermented quality, not as strong as Byredo Pulp but enough to dignify this. like almost kombucha. this is beautiful and if it's for you, the price is probably worth it but I wasnt looking for this kind of rendition of a fig, so onto the next.

I had been testing Purple Fig for a couple of months and although I appreciate its uniqueness, it didn’t grow on me. It is something that I’ve never smelled in a fragrance before, it envokes something unusual and I wouldn’t second guess that this is expensive. It is green and herbaceous, I detect stems from a plant - I believe it is Angelica, which I’ve stumbled upon in nature, it has quite thick stems. Yet there is a mellowness here as well, slightly milky fig. While I don’t really like it on myself, I would find this attractive on a guy.

Pickles. Straight up PICKLES. I wish I could describe them as something beyond that. I desperately want to. But this is a container of herby Grillo’s Pickles. It smells so... so dilly. When I scanned the notes and saw nothing relating to dill or even cucumber, I thought the world was playing a cruel joke on me. I can only dream of smelling the fruity, woody-green goodness that so many in the reviews had the privilege of experiencing. I still like it though because I freak with pickles.

I agree that this does remind me somewhat of Philosykos however there are notable differences. It is less green and no coconut. Instead, you open with the lemon and angelica, sort of a clean, green citrus smell. The fig smell is present but not overpowering and are undergirded by the cyprus and cedar. Overall, really pleasant and totally unisex.

This is a beautiful heady fig fragrance. The fig here smells really juicy and it's the main note along with the Angelica. The cassis adds an extra fruitiness to the mix. The performance on this is long-lasting with a solid 8hrs+. Maybe a little to heady for Summer, but great for Spring and Autumn (Fall) A stunning expensive smelling fragrance.

I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either. It’s certainly nothing unique. For summer fig I prefer Debaser and for winter fig I prefer Indigo. Edit: This is definitely growing on me. I’m still not sure that I need a whole bottle but it’s nice to find fig scents that are suitable for cooler weather.

Dusty, dirty, bitter, aromatic fig. The citrus and wood notes blend seamlessly and nothing tries to overpower anything else; it’s gorgeous, but I’ve found a close match to this fragrance in Sh*tty Day by Noyz, so I won’t be purchasing a full-sized bottle due to affordability.

Green, peppery fig that I am enjoying quite a bit. Its almost like more masculine B. by Balenciaga. Similar green notes, a hint of powder, but something more mysterious to it. I like this quite a bit but probably wouldn't go a full 250 or 100 ML.

Opens green and slightly spicy, reminds me of the sandy feel of figs leaves, it gets sweeter with the dry down, my great grandma had fig trees, makes me think of when the green figs just turn purple, not completely ripe and still firm but sweet.

like just getting out of the shower and driving on the pch with the windows down and a playlist of saccharine pop songs and 60s rock. maybe it's the shampoo or the summer breeze, but you just smell really good and you feel invincible.

I can imagine if you took a fig leaf and rubbed it in between your hands you would produce the same smell. It is honestly pretty realistic to a natural green leaf. It's great perfumery but not something I need to smell like. 7.3/10

I love the green-fruitiness of this, but there is some artificial lemon texture throughout the wear that makes me slightly sick. I somewhat wish that I had bought a second tester of this before I bought the 50ml.

Warning: this is not a sweet, figgy fragrance! This is an exceptionally green scent, almost akin to a freshly cut lawn. It's herbaceous, a tad bit woodsy, and more like a frolic in a park than a fig dessert.

To me, this is the true scent of luxury! Very fresh, clean and green with a hint of figs (maybe more of fig leaves rather than fig itself). Wears very well with a good sileage. I like!!!

On the skin it has a rich, complex smell - floral and bright but with nice deep cedar to temper it. In the air, however, it can be such a force of bright florals that it becomes acrid.

Very specific to the SF Bay Area, but this smells exactly like the shampoo and conditioner in the Bay Club.

Purchased a sample as I wanted to try a fig scent, and was intrigued by the green notes. First sniff is incredibly green, like the sap left on your skin after crushing a leaf between your fingers. After that I get jasmine. White florals tend to make me feel a bit nauseated and this is no exception, though I would recommend this to anyone wanting a cool, green-tinged jasmine scent for spring.

Purple Fig is more of an aromatic, slightly peppery fig leaf than sweet, coconutty, creamy fig fruit. There is definitely a woody cedar base present in the beginning that becomes more of a green scent in the drydown. I like the way this "feels" on my skin, and the cypress note is intriguing, but there are better, more powerful fig scents out there.

Oh dear. I like many Vilhelm Parfumerie scents, but not this one. The purple in the name refers to the purple cardigan that your nan used to wear. It's such an old-fashioned out-dated smell. I was hoping for something along the lines of Jardins de Kerylos, but ended up with Parma violets instead. Not a fan.

It's surprising that Jasmine isn't listed as one of the notes here but it's listed on Vilhelm's website and one of the more prominent notes I smell. On me this is bright, green and floral

I don’t know what is wrong with my nose but this smells like the chewable children’s Tylenol from the 90s. Super sweet on my skin

verdant, woody, sudsy, aldehydic. high marks on performance, but no evidence of 'purple'.

green. the thickness of fig without the sweetness.

I was looking forward to a gorgeous fig note in a sea of greenery. On the skin I get lima beans. To me, on me, it smells exactly like the freshest lima beans one could imagine being prepared for dinner. Unlike a lot of people, I do like lima beans, but I didn't go into this fragrance with legumes in mind. As this fragrance dries, it settles into the same lima bean scent but with fig hiding somewhere in the background mischeviously. The silage is powerful and the longevity is decent. Glad I tried it, but I'm going to pass on a big bottle for something else.

This is an odd one. It began as an interesting proposition: fig leaves, damp earth and just the slightest hint of ripening fruit overhead. Fig is one of my favorites and I was intrigued. There was also a whiff of musk laced in there. Within a few minutes, though, that turned. All that earthiness and greenery melded into acrid, sharp bandaids and fecal matter. About 30 minutes later, the fig returned and this finally settled into a green soapy milky fig.

The top note was nice but fleeting.. not too sweet and green like flower stems. I haated the middle notes - smells like white flowers and a stuffy old lady scent. On my clothes, it smells like an old man cologne. Not worth the price and not at all for me.

i don’t think the lemon + cassis combo is working for me here - way too sour to be pleasant. not figgy enough for me and i wouldn’t describe the scent profile as purple at all. reminds me of something but i can’t put my finger on what!

Opens up really ozonic, cucumber like. Dry down is aromatic, a little floraly but the cucumber smell lingers, in this stage its like pickled cucumber, horrid to the nostrils.

smells spicy and peppery? not sweet or fruity at all, more of an unripe, green fig dominated by spicy herbs

Angelica in combination with black currants gives the smell of pickles. I don't like it.

Not nearly enough fig for my tastes, especially since "Fig" is right there in the name. There's no sense of fruit at all, and the woody base notes bring to mind pencil shavings, or a woodworking shop, rather than the sweet, almost milky scent of a fig tree. Granted, it's a complex, obviously well-made fragrance, but it suffers from a bit of false advertising.

I get the fig here, but it’s grounded by a very bitter and animalic base. I’m reminded of visiting the elephant exhibit at the zoo, and the wind wafting the scent of feces over on a hot summer day. This one is definitely unique, but not at all in a good way for me. Scrubber.

This really smelled rancid to me... like a slightly green grassy public bathroom. Or fertiliser. Maybe there's something wrong with my nose specifically.
