Smoked Oud

Strong Like going up to Love! I was very interested in two specific Vince Camuto scents - Smoked Oud and Oud and when a friend send me 2ml sample of Smoked Oud I was so impatient to test it and wear it! My first impressions are more than positive, because to my nose, this is 100% niche type of scent, very well blended at a reasonable online price. It is very smooth and smoky, and I'm truly surprised no one make a comparison with the famous scent of Tom Ford - Sahara Noir... To my nose, Smoked Oud s the perfect wearable smooth and soft version of Sahara Noir. There are prominent smoky notes, plus some clear incense notes as well. I love Smoked Oud, because the composition is soft and rounded due to some wonderful notes like oriental jammy rose, some friendly spices and prominent balsamic-ambery notes. To me, this scent is skillfully composed and people who like smoky scents, but with some luxury vibe, with some sexy night out presence...this is the scent. To my nose, scents like Tom Ford Sahara Noir or L'Erbolario Myrrhae are a little bit too much of everything - too powerful, too raw, too churchy and spiritual, too old maybe... Smoked Oud gives me the perfect balance between deep and different smoky vibe, with nice oriental feeling that is perfectly wearable at every occasion - day or night. I've read this scent is rose and rose only - nothing could be further from the truth. The performance is good(on the softer side), not too powerful - some may expect with these notes beast mode, but it's not. On my skin it is sitting more close to the skin. Final words - Smoked Oud is an excellent smoky oriental scent, that got complex and deep, but seductive character. Super value for money, especially for fragrance enthusiasts, who love brave fragrances at nice price. It's not a head-turner, but it deserves attention/at least to me/. Now I want a bottle of it and one of his brother: Oud.

Getting this for the hubby! I think he could pull this off...will write more when he tests it. And now the results: This is a LOOOOOVE on him!!! I didn't know how he might feel about a men's fragrance with rose in it, but I thought I'd try anyway, and I'm happy to say he loves it, and has worn it a few times. The notes I picked up on his skin: the rose is realistic and a bit sweet, in a soft way, almost fruity (I hope this makes sense). It is not a sugared or syrupy or jammy rose. It is equal partners to whatever makes up the smoked oud. The smoked oud note is wonderful; not "band aid" or barnyard, but almost like a dry incense type of smoke flavored with a bit of cedar and herbs. I really think men could wear this very comfortably and not worry about anyone thinking they smell too flowery. This is a masculine rose and it is smoky, sexy, and well balanced. I wish more men would wear men's fragrances with rose notes, I think rose is divine on men. I spritzed my arm to smell the difference on me: women could pull this off; for me, the smoked oud and cedar were more prominent and the rose was in the background. I think for me it is a bit too masculine for my taste (I have Jo Malone's Velvet Rose & Oud and Montale's Louban and I get a more satisfying effect from them. But that's just my chemistry), but I am so glad I got this for him and he really likes it! Yay! This is a 10 out of 10.

A nice & smooth westernized Oud scented fragrance. Very synthetic at first spray that was a bit pungent and quite sharp. I let it sit to macerate and completely forgot about it. Two years later I found it deep in my storage closet and decided to give it a go for this year's cooler days. Big difference as it has smoothened out beautifully with the juniper berries right at the top accompanied by almost a burnt brown sugar accord along with a light Rose component. The Agarwood is not of the highest quality but, it is blended really nice especially with the light sweetness from the Tonka. No barnyard or fecal smell that Oud can sometimes be. Mass appealing and actually quite good during the entire wearing. Which unfortunately for me is its weak point. Projects for about 45 minutes to an hour then just a close skin scent for about another 6 hours. Nice woods with a soft yet masculine sweetness that is surprisingly good. In reality, I purchased it for under $25 US and at that price point it's a freaking steal. Today, it's going for an insanely amount of $$$ from the fragrance poachers that abound in the auction sights. A shame as it's a very easy Oud fragrance to wear almost year round. If you can find it at a real nice price say under $40 US, its worth it in my opinion.

This is my full wearing of recent acquisition (and another affordable blind buy) Vince Camuto Smoked Oud, a 2018 release that has been occasionally recommended to me and seems to be one of the more discussed men’s releases from Vince Camuto (more popular than the original Oud, even), a brand that I had not tried previously. It hints at oud without being very animalic and certainly without being medicinal, a sort of sharp, semi-tangy leather at the center, along with the smoky nuances referenced in the name and fruitfully juniper/rose mix and a sweeter base of resins and tonka. Overall, it performs very well and appropriately feels like a masculine option for the cold weather, with some enjoyable sweet hints to counter the semi-sharp, resinous, oudy, semi-animalic aspects. It’s not boundary-pushing within the context of modern, somewhat mainstream offerings for men, but it’s still interesting, and at grey market pricing, a real bargain. I purchased the 100ml EDT bottle at FragranceNet for $44, though it seems to be frequently sold out via that website as it is currently both at FragranceNet and FragranceBuy.CA. I love it and it’s an easy winner for me, something I could surely wear every day in the colder weather. 8 out of 10

I can see why this is being hyped up. The rose is beautiful - candy like. The oud is soft - but definitely there. It definitely reminds me of niche offerings - and for a fraction of the price. It has a similar vibe to something like dsquared potion black - but with a lighter, sweeter rose. It’s a lovely cool/cold weather scent - and could easily be a staple in your collection. Highly recommended! **EDIT** A commenter above brings up a good point - “no cinnamon in the notes” - having watched and read a few reviews, I’ve heard serveral people bring up the “cinnamon” type smel. I do not perceive cinnamon whatsoever. I think type of rose is to blame for the cinnamon effect. It is a sweet/jammy rose - and when paired with a slightly sour oud, I can see how it would come off as cinnamon. But to me it’s the rose playing games with the oud. Anyway - just thought I’d clarify. 7/10
