Virtu

One of my all time favorites. Extremely unique as I've never smelled anything like this. In basic terms this is your perfect thunderstorm, tornado watch, heavy rain outside fragrance. This is for when the sky is dark gray and gloomy before the storm. Earthy, Woody Petrichor scent. Evokes fond memories of being a teenager with my buddies and having to cut across yards to seek refuge in someone's garage because it started raining. Wouldn't recommend to anyone under 25 today though. You have to be serious when you're wearing this, no hoodies or sweatpants. This is for your strong silent types, also a man who is a leader, the man with a plan. In the same realm as Encre Noire Sport (they do NOT smell the same, but same type of feel/same occasion you'd wear it) In my ENS review I said it was something Nigel Terry in Excalibur would wear. The fictional man that Virtu would suit would hands down be Josh Holloway in **Season 1** of Lost TV Show. Fragrance downsides: Bad performance (have to bathe in it) Botte is a fingerprint magnet Goth chicks won't leave you alone (not my thing) It's like $21 for 100ml online just buy it.

Papyrus and black pepper over a sandalwood dominated cedar base is a beautiful scent. I have worn this once, but sprayed this ten times. Now wait. That sounds like an overspray, but I tested it on paper overnight and determined that would be appropriate and it was not overpowering. It lasted twelve hours and did not choke anyone out. I was complimented and it was approved by the people around me. It does remind me of Santal 33. It is bone dry and that is just fine. This smells expensive because it smells excellent. I can enthusiastically say Virtu is a very nice blind buy and a scent I will wear in my rotation alongside scents costing much more. I will add this to the forum threads of excellent budget fragrances. I will add that there is no reason to limit this to a masculine label. This is a definite unisex scent. Any woman could rock this beautifully! But it is not just an excellent cheapie. It is excellent!

Clean, peppery, green, woody, a bit of smokiness. It’s mainly a woody fragrance directed at men. It takes me back to the 90’s for some reason. Its for the older crowd 30 and up. It also has a coconut type note very similar to TB St. Barts. If you like the scent it is daily for sure as it’s almost a year round scent its not that heavy. I don’t get any leather or papyrus. The sandalwood is not up front. You want heavy papyrus get Dunhill Egyptian smoke, you want sandalwood get dunhill Indian sandalwood, even kenzo marine has a real heavy note of sandalwood. Here it is not creamy its like a dry white wood that mixes with the light birch. I get mostly cedar. I would say carolina herrera CH Men without the sweetness less leather and more woody. It stays arms length projection for an hour then on scent bubble for 6 hours after that it starts into a skin scent. Scent 8/10 Projection 6/10 Longevity 6/10 Price 10/10

Vince Camuto Virtu.... I have quite a few fragrances and this one is quite different. If it was marketed by Creed or other hyped houses, people would pay with their kidneys for this. The papyrus and birch give it a smoky leathery touch with cardamom in the background. The vetiver is not a smoky vetiver but a fresh green succulent variation. In combination with the musk it forms a fig nuance which lingers quite strongly all the way to the end. That fig accord sits on a base of sandalwood and leather. In the far dry down it shares characteristics with Marc Jacobs Man from 2002 because of the fig note on a wood base. It lasts quite long and leaves a nice trail behind.

A seller kindly included a carded sample of Virtu with my order. This is really nice! IMO, a very pleasant peppery-spicy-fresh fragrance, slight leather and coconut notes, safe and versatile for all situations. I do NOT understand it's low score above. This is not green and it's not a barbershop, and I like both of those. While I'm more of a classic 80s masculine scent guy, I'm seriously considering going full-sized bottle of Virtu. Prices are GREAT and performance is very good. I highly recommend, blind buy or otherwise. 👍 UPDATE: I went full-sized 100 ml bottle and love it. UPDATE2: I just boosted my supply with a jumbo 200 ml bottle (only $16.90!)

I love this stuff. It's masculine, spicy, smokey, leather, black pepper, and cedar. The scent is complex enough to be interesting and bold enough to grab some attention. I cannot stand the many powdery, sweet, and overly citrus scents of today. This stands apart as a revved up tribute to classics men's colognes of the 50's-80's.

This cologne is definitely a head-turner! As a woman, personally this is my go-to and constantly has people complimenting me. What I love most about this is that it stays on my clothing even after a couple washes, which if you want this to be your signature scent, it’ll definitely stay on your belongings!

It's Profile Amber Wood with sweeter more fruity scents. It has that PAW leather scent to it and its louder and worth wearing every once in a while. It's certainly high up on my list. If you havent smelled Amber Wood, which is very similar to Santal 33 as I noticed in other reviews, you might not get it.

This was a blind buy, and at first I didn't like it at all. I let it sit for a few months and came back and now I love it. Peppery, woody musk on a leather jacket, also slightly powdery. This is not a barbershop fragrance but for some reason I associate it strongly with how an actual barbershop smells

Very green, slight wood note. Smells nice. Absolutely nothing like Santal 33 which I use regularly. Longevity is a joke.....20 minutes or so and it’s mostly gone. Barely even a skin scent. For $23 I got what I paid for....fancy room air freshener.

A Fantastic budget alternative to Santal 33 ....85-90% Similar

One of the best cheapies on the market Personal: 8/10 – I like this more than I expected to. It’s spicy leather, which isn't always my thing, but it's done with better execution here than many niche bottles. Mass appeal: 8/10 - Surprisingly easy to enjoy, despite its spicy leather profile, which isn't universally likable. Performance: 7/10 – Solid for the price. It lasts long enough and maintains a calm, noticeable presence, with some enticing sweetness in the drydown. Value: 10/10 – Absolutely astounding value. It would be a fine buy even at normal retail (3.5x discounted prices - $88). Crazy complexity and refinement from a cheapie. Uniqueness: 7/10 – Familiar territory, but done cleanly and competently for a steal. SCORE: 80/100 Full bottle buy? YES, it's remarkably enjoyable and works well for a classy winter daily. Blind buy? It's calm and confident, and it's remarkably well done for the price, a point which I will continue to come back to because of how important it is. This is how I would envision a winter version of a blue fragrance to be. Mass appealing to the extent it can be, fresh in wintry, cool ways, and bright in the warmest way possible. It also doesn't take the route of gourmand sweetness, which I appreciate greatly as that's just kind of overdone at this point. That said, it still plays things safely despite its leathery spicy profile. I think this is a fragrance that, for the price, pretty much everyone who likes wintry fragrances should buy and experiment with. See 2nd try below. Blind buy and a fail for me. I have the OG Vince Camuto and like it quite a bit. I've gotten more compliments on the OG Vince C. than any of my other frags (I have about 70). I saw this at Bur.... at a very reduced price. I then looked it up the notes and a few reviews and took a chance. I've never smelled Santal 33, so I could not tell you if it is anything like that. I can tell you that my frag (batch from Jan.2021) has a very "floral" smell to it. This is a very feminine frag I think (I'm a young 50). Based on the notes listed, I thought it would have more of a woody peppery smell to it, but oh how wrong my assumption was. I was on a roll catching a few good "blind buys" and have to accept that the win streak is over at the moment. EDIT: 2nd try Okay, I revisited this two weeks later. Sprayed 3 times on skin and I am surprised at how much this has changed!!! I get a little of the pepper now and some of the woodiness. Not as much floral. It's as if someone change out my bottle for a whole different decanter. I like this much more now. I've actually decided to keep this one for fall, winter, evening wear.

Dark smokey leathery dry woody smell is exactly what you get with this one! It’s also got some subtly sweetness as well. It has certain characteristics that resemble LL Santal 33, but this one in my opinion is much much better because they’ve taken away that pickle scent that I find way too heavy in 33 and even Cremo PS. This is a great scent in its own right. It takes the good parts of Santal 33 and takes away the bad to make a smooth smokey dry sweet woody scent. It’s highly masculine. The Cardamom note is fantastic in this one also. Performance is where this fragrance lacks it isn’t as great as I’d like but a few sprays will get you an easy 5hrs on skin and a few more sprays on clothes will get you about 8hrs all together. Projection is really light it won’t fill the room, but it has an ok scent bubble, sillage is about the same as well, nothing to write home about. All in all this is a great scent for the price because it does smell like a more expensive fragrance, but with its own twist. If you’re Into the LL Santal 33 scent I’d say try this one out.

Wow.... i felt the need to write a review. I dont know if that is a good or bad thing. Hmmmm..... i like it. But i am weird. This is what you would call a mans scent. Its woods, and pepper, and leather. In the top and mids.. then it goes hard cedar on the dry down. Like very hard. For a long time. The cedar is so heavy its hard to pick up anything else. I dont think that my wife likes it, she compliments the majority of my scents. Never this one. I guess i wear this one for me. When i am wearing this i smell good to me. And sometimes thats all that matters.

got a sample of this with a bottle of Chanel AHSEE and wow, I think I found my cheap Santal 33 dupe. Seriously, they are STRIKINGLY similar, to the point where I'd say it's a blatant copy. I have been hankering for a big bottle of S33, but couldn't swing the price tag. With FragNet selling bottles of this for under 40, this might just be my lucky day.

This is lighter santal 33 off course santal opening is never ending. Virtu is a shortcut in to the dry down, which takes forever to show up. sometimes you don't even get to experience the dry down just the opening can be long and overwhelming.i like it santal 33 grew on me,Virtu will be my indoors alternative to santal more user friendly.

This is a good fragrance just like all of the others from the house. I get almost a purple berry smell in this but faintly. It's green, it's woody and it's pleasant. This is better than what I've read and heard. This could be a good night fragrance or for spring and fall. Give it a shot. It's a good fragrance! I give this an 82/100

Bois de Balincourt, Virtu, Energetically New York, Santal 33. They’re all nearly the same I’ve smelt about every dupe and Santal 33 itself and they all smell the same. That said, this is a crowd-pleasing scent and an easy everyday wear. New York’s scent as I’ve heard

I like this cologne. It's a 4☆.design is a 5☆. Smell is a 5☆. Value is a 5☆. Longevity gets me at 5 hours which is moderate. I wear this in the day during spring/summer/fall. Overall it's a winner at 4☆.I would repurchase thus particular fragrance/Cologne again.

Sampled this at Dillard's last night. It's very pleasant, but all I really smell is cardamom and fig. I agree with @Mark30 . . . Super-strength fig.

This is a good scent, however I don't feel inclined to choose it as often as I expected. For me, the pepper note is a little intense and lasts too long. The dry down is a bit weak when looking at the notes listed (I don't really get leather at all either). Overall I'm mixed on this. If the other reviews intrigue you, I'd say it's worth picking up because it's pretty affordable. It's certainly not a bad scent, I just don't know how often I'd be inclined to choose it over other similar frags.

I'm a fan of a great deal, and for less than twenty bucks there are a few great fragrances out there. This is not one of them. I have a few fragrances that last for less than an hour and smell good, but this is not one of them. Heavy, heavy alcohol blast with really watery musk and elements of pepper. It doesn't really come out smelling like much and is so light that you can spray it about twenty times and not get much. That is not exaggeration, I genuinely sprayed it twenty times because of how disappointed I was. I go very light with fragrances, but this is not just a "light fragrance" It's a drop of oil in a gallon of alcohol. Don't waste your money unless you want black pepper in a sea of alcohol with a lot of musk. If those both were more prominent it would be alright. The bottle is neat, but reminds me of a certain pulp fiction scene lmao.

The most utterly forgettable garbage I have smelled in the past year. This is the same quality of "fragrance" they use on generic store-brand baby wipes. It has pitiful performance to boot. If I had to save my own mother's life I could not name a single note in this ultra-cheap synthetic mess. There is ZERO fig, and it has ZERO similarity with TF Ombre Leather whatsoever. If you want fig, get Montale's Oudmazing or Carner Barcelona's El Born, if you want leather, get Tom Ford's Ombre Leather or Tuscan Leather. The gall of this brand to claim they have "tuscan leather" in the notes should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission. I get that fragrance is highly subjective...but as far as perfume is concerned...nobody should ever mention Tom Ford and Vince Camuto in the same lifetime let alone sentence. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This was a blind buy at a rack store.....it was very cheap, under $30 for the large bottle. i enjoy most other Camuto fragrances. Haven't even worn it once. To me it smells like a peppery, extremely woody, earthy forest mixed with band-aid & musk and the slightest touch of leather. I get a lingering citrus-like note too. Not feeling this all that much, i'll have to wear it fully and see how it goes. update: i let this sit for a few months, its slightly better, but still not my cup of tea, and the band aid smell has lessened some. The Sandalwood is very prominent with dry down vibes of Santal 33 with a little freshness thrown in. The Cardamom comes and goes.

Not sure what to say about this one. I got this super powerful lemony spicy scent that was super strong for three hours and then lessened throughout the day. 13 1/2 hours later I still smell it on my shirt. I liked it but I got no variations throughout the entire life of the scent, one scent all the way through. Just weird if you ask me.

Purchased in store after sampling in 2018, but the more I wore it, the more synthetic and headache inducing it became. The leather note reminds me more of a cheap shiny vinyl black plastic. Fittingly, exactly what the bottle is wrapped in.

Horribly cheap smelling fragrance without any depth. Save your money and don’t blind buy this one like I did, no matter how cheap it is.

hmm.. Not sure about this one. I can usually find positives in just about any fragrance and find a use for it in my collection. It's not that this doesn't do somethings ok... It's just when they are all put together, it losses me. I get a damp, pencil shavings woody opening... With hints of Cardamom. The Sandalwood and Leather starts to chime in not long after the opening. This does "dry out" the scent a little, but I couldn't get that "damp" accord out of my head... I only wore this a couple testing's and gave it away - It just didn't sit well with me. If you want a designer that is inexpensive and resembles S33, I'd rather go with Dunhill Century. Virtu is woodier/earthier where AD Century has more of a citrus/neroli feel to go along with the sandalwood, cardamom, musk accords they share - Which for me is a more pleasant wearing experience. They have crossover notes that are apparent, but also have glaring differences, so don't expect these two to be all that similar. Just FYI. Also - If you enjoy the woodier, pencil shaving aspects of Virtu... Bentley For Men Absolute is a much much better option and about the same price. I may have started to feel differently, had I given Virtu more wearings... It just did not agree with me and what it does well, is done better by others that I already have. I would checkout AD Century and Bentley fm Absolute, they are much better options then Virtu and in the same price range. You could go ahead and grab both for not all that much more then a 100ml of Virtu. Just my 2-cents.

I remb paying full retail for this in 2018 with the shower gel & aftershave balm because I liked it! I see a lot of references to Santal 33 on here lately mmm & okay I can kinda see that. I see this as not as good as but close if on a budget a fig leaf/coconutty vibe like Xerjoff Oveuture or Gris Charnell Extrait, Two frags that I own. I couldn’t testify to the original Gris Charnell...But fig? Or the Fig leaf? Never been too sure which gives off that fantastic smell profile I love so much! But it’s in Virtu as well! I remember going heavy on the trigger with this & getting the same intermittent wafts that the two I just mentioned gives..People seem to bash this designer house, But I like them a lot more than these other designers that are trending right now...Good fragrance! Still wear it!!

Virtu is a strong natural smelling scent. Leathery, woody, spicy, smoky, and a bit green. This doesn't change or evolve much. The pepper, birch, leather, vetiver, moss, and cedar are front and center, with a touch of cardamom hanging around. Others have mentioned notes of figs, pencil shavings, and coconut...and I say those scents are here in Virtu, but they could result from the combination of notes the perfumer blended in this fragrance. Virtu smells really nice in cold weather, and the scent hangs around for several hours. If you enjoy natural, earthy fragrances, Virtu is worthy of consideration.

This changes a ton within the first 30 minutes of wearing. Top notes are all over the place, transition in crazy ways. But once it settles on my skin it turns into the identical brother of Carolina Herrera's CHHC. Very nice. Clean woodsy with a soft peppery note. On my co-worker, it ended up smelling like a tea tree oil shampoo that my friend used to use for her bad scalp condition. Not great. Weird herbal soap smell. This is going to be one of those that gets mixed reviews for its whole life.

At first I dismissed this. I hated that first spray and believed there were far better Santal 33 dupes. Then my husband started wearing it. I didn’t believe him when he told me it was Virtu. Virtu smells more like true sandalwood than Santal 33 does. It smells so good on him, it drives me nuts. It smells so good as it wears. If you hate this.. check back after it sits... or let your significant other wear it. This scratched the Santal 33 itch and I won’t be spending hundreds on Le Labo.

This smells like 85-90% similar to Diptyque Philosikos which is a great thing because Philosikos smells absolutely amazing... I don’t get any leather or smoke or vetiver, literally all I get is this milky fig scent which isn’t even in the note chart

We just got this in our store . Defiantly smells like a designer le labo santel 33. I have samples and compared . Its not bad and doesn't smell like the typical new fragrances on the market right now which is great. Not the best but not horrible

Pencil shavings like Santal 33’s note and Zara Sandalwood. I will buy Zara because its 20AUD cheaper than this and lasts about the same and projection is same.
