Avec Amour

I bought this without having tested it first but I liked the description and the notes beforehand. Its very light and feminine. Somewhat of a vanilla note with hints of light floral and a touch of musk. I don't normally like musk but this one is perfect. Very light, feminine, and wears well.

First, the presentation is lovely. A quality drawer box with blue velvety interior houses it. I actually want to keep the box. The bottle is a bit bigger than I thought, with pleasant heft to it so that's a nice surprise. The lid screws shut securely. The bottle has a blue to clear gradient. Like advertising suggests, I think it would be attractive to put on in public (not unwieldy, no spray zone given that it's a roll on oil). All in all good packaging and aesthetic, lid won't come off in your purse and ruin your stuff. Now on to the smell sauce. The roller ball dispenses a good amount. In the bottle the scent is faint. It rolls on a little faint too but quickly blooms on skin into an accurately described musky vetiver. The musk has a bit of.. stank? Not bad stank. But like a sophisticated, pretty woman stank. Clean but an unmistakable stank. Just trust me. The vetiver is grassy, dry, warm, earthy. Kind of like sweetgrass. I get no bergamot at all really. The scent stays there for ten or fifteen minutes and the stank fades but a resinous honey smell replaces it. I know honey isn't in the notes. Literally nobody else has mentioned honey, maybe that's the combination of ylang ylang and sandalwood to my nose. If you've ever smelled bee pollen, those yellow gold little pebbles of healthy goodness that you can often find at health food stores, that is exactly the impression I get. And I love it. Sophisticated pretty lady stank, earthy dry vetiver, resinous delicious bee pollen, and a subtle sweetness and warmth from the amber is what I get with this oil. Your experience may vary, but that's how it talks to my natural oils and chemistry. As for projection, the first couple hours, if someone came close but not too close to have a conversation they would likely smell you. After that If someone leaned in to kiss you, they would smell you before they touched you. If you put the oil on your neck and your hair touches it, your hair may throw the sent a bit more as you move. I feel like projection is acceptable for an oil considering they typically have a smaller scent bubble and sit close to the skin. This is not beast mode (which is not my cup of tea anyways) by any means, but I dont think the scent would go unnoticed. With longevity, I put it on at 9am and can still smell it faintly at 7pm. Today I worked a food service shift 11-6 and I showered last night so It's not like I was really oily before I put it on. If you worked at say, a desk job, or maybe didt have to scrub in the shower every day, it might stay stronger longer. If I put it on after showering before bed, I can still smell it when I wake up (typically 7 or 8 hours). I usually put more on in the morning anyways. My boyfriend likes it and commented on it unpromted. Overall I feel this was a successful blind by and I'm happy about it. Again, ymmv but I like it and i would for sure buy it again when it runs out provided I have the funds. I'm trying this in Midwest winter (southwest ohio) and it has been bitterly cold and dry. 9 degrees Fahrenheit as the high during the day. I'm interested to see how it may change in spring when it's more humid and rainy, summer when it gets hot. Hopefully I'll be able to post more reviews as the weather changes

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from this, but knew that I liked all of the notes independently (and am partial to Violette_FR in general) so I did a blind buy. I really like it, it's powdery and soft and sticks close to the skin but lasts quite a while. I don't know why because it's not really in any of the notes but to me it smells just like an almond galette: creamy, powdery, and only very faintly sweet.

There’s no coconut in this? Surely there must be? Anyway... Kind of sunscreen-y, kind of play doh-y; comforting and nostalgic (and comes in a very chic little bottle, if that kind of thing matters to you). Usually ylang ylang comes off as “bathroom cleaner” to my nose, but I like it a lot here. Very creamy and very yellow. I don’t know if I’d buy it again, but I’ll gladly use up the bottle I have.

avec amour has a definite "buttery" facet which surprised me- it's almost like a bowl of oatmeal with a pat of butter on top. the vetiver is definitely there, but more toned down in the base. a hint of sandalwood, a bit of salt and some amber-y notes that give you this real vibe of the "mysterious oil that you got from the natural foods co-op". it's great to layer!

Love the musky floral (and slightly coconuty, although there are no coconut notes on this) scent of this. The packaging is really cute and I'm partial for a rollerball applicator. But the longevity is just not there. Blind bought this years ago because of Violette and I just can't get around to finishing the bottle I have.

A cheaper, simplified Bal d’Afrique. I did a side by side wear test and after the first few minutes they smelled essentially identical. Warm, powdery, almost like oats. I don’t love it but it’s nice, and the portability is helpful. I hope violette releases another perfume in this line, I will definitely be down to try it.

Simple, clean and chic French perfumery. This is not a complex perfume but still sensual and soapy. An ambery soapy musk. I really like this for what it is. Easy to throw in your purse and apply! Good for all seasons, time of day and occasions.

Love love love this scent and I’m super surprised to see how unlikeable it is. It definitely isn’t the most exciting scent, but it’s a beautiful relaxing scent. Looking for similar with maybe a twist?

Opens with fresh, grassy vetiver and drys down to a pure powder note that stops just shy of smelling overly mature or dated. The middle note is distinctly soapy with a "clean laundry" feel. This scent profile aligns with others in the "my skin but better" category. It also falls in line with the brand's idea of French beauty: classic and understated. It is a skin scent with no projection or sillage and very little staying power. It is a simple, inoffensive perfume oil that is relatively well-blended. It doesn't bring anything groundbreaking to the table, and it could be improved with much better longevity and/or projection. The box and bottle are very pretty, as others have mentioned, but this particular rollerball applicator leaves something to be desired.

I got this free with purchase and I’m kind of glad I didn’t spend my money on it, otherwise I think I would have been disappointed. This is kind of weird, because this smells so cheap but at the same time there’s something cozy about it. It’s a dry waxy (and super synthetic) coconut smell that has somewhat of an oat quality to it. Projection is weak since it’s a skin scent and the longevity isn’t there. It’s not a bad fragrance and it is nice-ish, but for a bottle that looks this lux, I think I expected something more substantial and better quality? For what it is, I’m glad it is a skin scent because I’ll be able to use it and layer it. I think any more projection and this would smell ultra synthetic and gross.

I was so excited for this launch but it did not live up to the description of a cozy sexy vetiver fragrance. It's is warm white musk. After a few months of owning it it now smells like a synthetic coconut air freshener scent as well as white musk. I'm so disappointed I almost emailed them to see if I got a bad bottle but after reading reviews this seems too common.

It’s pretty but also kind of boring. Musk with a hint of spices, very linear, very intimate.

Blind buy because I followed Violette for years on YouTube. I liked her perfume collab with In Fiore (Baisers de Jasmin - mostly just like jasmine and vanilla) but this Avec Amour smelled to me like my grandma's potpourri in her fancy frilly powder room. My husband said I smelled like an old lady. I agreed. Despite that, this is somehow light and pleasant. I cannot get past the association I have with it though. The bottle is cute and I liked the rollerball application and overall strength of the perfume - somewhat on the med-light side. Just wish it were filled with a very different scent!!

I didn't buy this; I got it for free ordering some makeup... and just as well. I am not sure what it smells of; I can smell toasted coconut, musk, rice pudding, soap, and dry wood. Doesn't sound bad in theory, but it is not a perfume I personally would like to associate with myself. There is something not right with it, but I don't know what it is. Shame because the name and bottle are so pretty, and it is an oil, so it could be good for layering, but personally, I don't want it on me.

This is disappointing on so many levels - it seems to be a carrier oil with totally synthetic fragrance, with no projection and lasts barely 2 hours. As for the fragrance itself, it sounded lovely but I am underwhelmed - I mostly get a musky ylang ylang and another mystery note that others have mentioned. After mulling this over the last week, I would say it's a honeyed beeswax, which I initially disliked, but lends a creamy earthy aspect.

Pure baby powder. I am perplexed. It’s the scent of Johnson’s baby powder. It reminds me of a diaper bag that exploded with talc powder. Not sexy at all. Avec Pampers.

When I ordered this scent, I expected a closer to the skin wear, and the notes sounded lovely, so I took a chance. I shouldn’t have - my bottle smells of literally nothing. I thought maybe it needed a little time, as oils sometimes do, but still nothing. I thought maybe I am anosomic to it, so I had friends check. Only one could smell anything - she said it smelled faintly of carrier oil. So I purchased an expensive bottle of carrier oil. And when I reached out to the company (maybe I got a bad bottle?) I was told “we hope you understand” that there is nothing they can do.

First wear review: I think this is a lovely musk that is good for my personal preferances when it comes to skin scent musks. I am fairly picky and don't love overly powdery or overly animalic scents. On me, this is white musk, amber, and sweet ylang ylang. The ylang ylang sweetens it and makes it a bit more creamy imo, and that makes this suited to my preferances. However, I really like ylang ylang. For comparison with some other skin-scent musks that people seem to like, so you can get an idea of my preferances: I have tried the Super Amber scent from Ellis Brooklyn and find this stale and sour, and have tried 11 11 by Lake and Skye and find it marine in a way that smells damp and moldy. In contrast I really enjoy the sweet yellow floral creaminess. (Note that these three perfumes are not similar - but just mention so you can understand the type of musks that I don't enjoy).

At first sniff, this undeniably smelled like play-doh. However, after a few days of wear, that association went away for me, and I really enjoyed the opening very much. However, within less than an hour, the dry down settles into a musty drawer smell and I can't stand it. If it was just the opening, I would love to wear it, but that dry down absolutely ruins it for me. So I just keep it on my shelf and open it to sniff it every once in a while, just to get a hit of that quirky, French-chic opening. I am a huge fan of vetiver, ylang ylang, and coconut, and they definitely come through in this.

Did not expect the reviews for this to be so polarising. To me it’s a very soft powder, as it wears it reminds me of honeyed oats. It doesn’t smell floral to me at all but I think the ylang ylang is just there to provide the sweet and more creamy notes... IMO this roll on is perfect for daily wear and I’m excited to try and layer it. someone mentioned coconut which I kind of get little whiffs of sometimes but overall I’d say it’s a true sweet powder that’s a little of reminiscent of a soap a glam Aunty would own in the best way ever. I love this so much

To my nose this is so very faint. I feel like the performance has improved since I first tried it, but it is still a skin scent no doubt. It is a coconut woody type of scent, quiet, relaxed, and exudes comfort. The bottle is very pretty and I love Violette_FR's packaging. I'm not partial to roller ball vs. spray format, but I do wish the scent is a bit more pronounced.

Powdery.play.doh with a touch of nag champa- not bad when I smell it I see vibrant yellow. I have had this since its launch over a year ago and see box has changed a bit...in regards to potency this is strong as a roller oil so maybe old batch stronger??? Definitely get the vetiver and light golden amber not so much white musk thankfully I'm not so fond.

I absolutely wanted to love this, but sadly on me it smells like a mixture of fresh buttery oatmeal, dry hay and an almost non existent floral. Not necessarily bad if you want it to remind you of childhood summers spent in the country on your grandparents farm. I'll keep it for the nostalgia.

Reminds me of that drugstore perfume in the green bottle from the 80s called Skin Musk. But this is a better version- not so grandma, not so powdery, and not that strong. Skin Musk could make a horse pass out. This stuff is pretty good. Not a blind buy if you’re not into musk scents.

Smells comforting in a way! Very creamy and powdery, it works well as a base layer to add warmth to your perfume. Definitely a skin scent but the packagaing is so small and luxurious, I don’t mind showing it off in public during reapplication.

I get toasted coconut, amber, and musk from this even though coconut isn't listed in the notes. The amber is unsweetened and creates a cozy warmth alongside the musk. Nice skin scent, but I can't get past the strong coconut accord.

Very creamy, coconut accord, intimate projection but long lasting on my skin. Smells like oatmeal and honey but in a sexy way. I have a full bottle for sale as I am slimming down my collection! Canada and US

All I'm getting from this is coconut. Disappointing
