Vanilla Vice

Vanilla Vice.. my my my.. the second I heard about the newest Vivamor I was excited especially when the babycat comparisons began rolling in. I have interest in a few of them but vanilla Vice was a MUST have for me because while I’ve smelled babycat before I’ve never owned it and this one was supposed to be more feminine so that was another plus for me. I will admit that at first sniff it was only a like. I didn’t get the smoother or more feminine aspect but fragrances with suede incense or even leather and saffron tend to sometimes need a fair amount of time to settle because those notes can be rather strong or screechy in the beginning and because of the suede and incense in this one the fragrance while smelling good also smelled a bit dusty like an old piece of furniture but that has gone away completely and now the true beauty is showing. To say I’ve been obsessed and even wearing it to bed is an understatement. The fragrance is so comforting and smooth and sweet while being so sultry and mysterious at the same time. It’s such a good vanilla and incense combo that just purrs off my skin like I’ve never been more obsessed but I will say this fragrance is either you love it or hate it. It’s definitely polarizing and something that you’ll probably mostly wear for yourself because not everyone around you will love this but fragrance is about feeling good and smelling good on your own terms anyways so for me it’s fine I don’t wear fragrances for compliments I wear them because I like experiencing my own scent bubble. The only super strong fragrance I’ve actually received compliments on is Oud Bouquet from Lancome which shocked me because it’s so potent yet I had women stopping me to tell me how good I smelled in the dead or winter in a gas station lol. But this fragrance I’ll be honest I haven’t received compliments on it. With niche I feel we have to expect that with more complicated fragrances especially ones that straddle a true unisex line. On my skin this is feminine but on paper I can see where a man could wear this and make it his own

Sampling Vivamor Parfums Vanilla Vice, one of five new perfumes released as part of a discovery set a couple of weeks ago. To my nose, it’s a spicy bourbon vanilla mostly, with some hints of some of the listed notes—namely, cognac, almond, and tonka—as it has a notable sharpness accompany the vanilla. It’s elegantly done, not quite the achievement as Dior Vanilla Diorama from a couple of years ago, but still a great, rich, smooth, but slightly provocative vanilla-rich fragrance, something that vanilla lovers are likely to enjoy but also not so vanilla-centric or cake-like that it’s likely to scare anyone off. Evolution-wise, it fittingly has a bit more of the cognac/almond warmth and boozy/sharp aspect in the opening but gives way to more of a generic resinousness in the dry down. Overall, really lovely stuff, and I’m 3 for 3 with loving the new releases so far. As with the other new releases from Vivamor, this is priced at $125 for 100ml in extrait concentration, somehow lower-priced than even the initial eleven releases at $145 for 100ml. Both collections are sold on the house website as well as via great boutiques like Perfumology, which I’d recommend. 8 out of 10

Eff' what you heard...this is some good sh*t! Upon first spray, it reminded me of RM no5, but soon after I get the Babycat comparisons---And I'm totally cool with that!!! That was the whole reason I blind bought VV in the first place, because Babycat is damn near obsolete. Vanilla Vice as a fragrance is surely SEXY and it's perfectly unisex. The sweetness from the vanilla and rum; and the cognac and incense note makes it appealing to both. I'm kinda scratching my head though, 🤔 I thought Vivamor was supposed to be a more affordable line under Navitus, but the ingredients and composition are far more superior in my opinion. Sprayed it right out of the box..no maceration needed. Very pleased with this purchase!

This fragrance is exactly what I envisioned. It's been evolving beautifully over the past few months into a truly sensual scent. The cognac and suede notes are prominent, with a subtle vanilla undertone. It's a captivating blend that defies gender norms, but it's not for everyone. This scent is reserved for those with a certain confidence, but I believe it has the power to amplify that, so take that as you will.

Very androgynous scent to me & I love that about it... I also own banana republic’s tobacco & Tonka & there are a LOT of similarities between them, they are definitely closely related cousins? Perhaps even half siblings? I love wearing them together... on of the few scents that i really look forward to the dry down with. I now prime after wash with b&bw sweet whiskey cream & mist & I usually use the Banana Republic Tobacco & Tonka on my right wrist, I use a ton of the vanilla vice on my forearm & ‘smelling wrist’ (the left) I’ll update when I’ve tried any combos that are simply made to be, going to try with rolling in love next. I was hoping since it was an ‘extrait’ I wouldn’t have to overspray but I find myself still over spraying - all 3 in aforementioned combo. I’m going to try to swap some for caramel pop & get some second hand rifaquatt or whatever- you know... if it’s not offensive maybe I could wear it underneath or save vanilla vice for my smelling wrist ... it doesn’t throw like I’d like it to, probably lasts a lot longer than I give it credit for... I need to give the olfactory sys a break from ALL scented stuff ... I’ve tried before & I’ve never had any success. If someone told me I could either have to give up food or fragrances I’d ask how long I have to make my final decision & hurriedly google ‘fasting’

Beautiful & sophisticated scent. Not exactly like Babycat but it does vibe like it. Vanilla vice is 70% Magnificent by YSL + 20% Babycat by YSL + 10% Navitus touch, quality ingredients (almost leaning gourmand). If you have both and you have a few Navitus fragrances, you will know exactly what I mean. It's so smooth & creamy, nothing sharp or animalic here. That rubbery/tire smell in babycat is not present in Vanilla Vice. The notes are very well blended and balanced. It's redundant but I'm getting it because Magnificent is my TOP5 for life and I love Navitus & Mr Duchaufour fragrances. Perfectly unisex and SEXY!

Very similar but a softer version of YSL’s Babycat. This one is less spiced up and more wearable even at daytime. Very interesting animalic non gourmand Vanilla. Way better - and more like I was expecting Mahni Cassonade by Navitus Parfums to be.

This smells so similar to Amouage Material in the opening, shockingly similar considering there hasn’t been any other reviews comparing the two. In the deeper dry down, I find the similarities do begin to depart, Vanilla Vice settles into a bit of a synthetic smelling, non-gourmand vanilla, while Material retains more of the spice and resinous components. I actually prefer VV over Material, and while find that it lasts quite a long time on my skin and clothing it does not seem to project very well. Glad I could try it, but it won’t be a full bottle purchase for me.

On me, this is a rubbery tobacco vanilla at the opening - heavy on the rubber and tobacco. Fades down into a very woody "vanillin" - reminding me that many synthetic vanillas are made from wood chips. For the money, I'd rather hunt down a well-preserved vintage of Bulgari Black.

The notes declared here make perfect sense, but I smell woods too. I'd love it for a guy in cold weather.

This has the strangest dry down. Not sure what to think about it. It is vanilla, but it’s a pungent vanilla. I don’t really like it. Great longevity and sillage.

Very strong petrochemical smell, maybe that's how my nose interprets all that leather? To me it's very unpleasant

This is the epitome of grown and sexy. Definitely unisex all the way. Initial spray is a lot of booziness from the cognac and that incense followed by a very dark smoky vanilla base swaying with the other notes in a beautiful melody of sweet and spice. I also used New30 to get 30% off so this was less than $100. Btw there is a slight similarity to Khamrah by Lattafa... slight but valid enough for me to reference it. It by no means Khamrah because that one is super boozy & decadent but vanilla vice has a similar boozy opening. I like it... but I can’t seem to put my finger on what it is lacking. Depth maybe?

Omfg is the scent of “rich woman” I mean, little bit of liquor, almond, soft suede and lots of smoke vanilla (not so sweet) It’s smells like luxury aesthetics, sexy, expensive and little bit lazy (as a Babycat) Soft, smooth, all notes plays with each other, this perfume is so good!

This is not for me. I didn't even look at the notes before I ordered a decant, but I figured that it would be fine. There is, unfortunately, something funky in this that I just can't get past. I keep smelling it, trying to figure out what note is turning me all the way off, but I can't quite figure it out. Maybe the suede? Or the cognac? Whatever it is just doesn't work for me, unfortunately.

Received this in a swap and I’m pleasantly surprised. It is reminiscent of Babycat...maybe it’s grown up sister. The dry down is very incensey, but I am loving it so far. Perfect for cooler months. Edit: Wore this out today and it lasted a good few hours on clothes. It ended up as a warm incensey vanilla, but very pleasant. Will be keeping! :)

Babycat was my SOTD today. I sprayed this sample on the test strip and had to do a double take to see if I sprayed the right thing. It smells almost EXACTLY like Babycat. Babycat with a hint of almond in the background. You def do not need both of you already have Babycat. That said, I may have to get this (I’m a sucker for this dna).

I definitely smell the comparison to Babycat. I have a decant and this has a lot of similarity to it. This is your sultry, cold weather vanilla. If you were looking to buy a bottle of Babycat, you can save some coins as this is cost effective.

I love this scent, but there’s something off about it in the “after smell”. It gives my throat a weird menthol sensation? Very bizarre. I want to love it and maybe it will grow on me! It could just be my body and its reaction.

This definitely has a Babycat vibe but it’s smoother & sweeter!!! I love suede over leather in fragrances, it’s feminine & gives it a beautiful airyness. Such an elevated & expensive smelling Vanilla !! 😍

Definitely giving YSL Babycat vibes, so if you’re fan of that, you’ll probably love this! Super sophisticated, an absolutely stunning vanilla perfume that makes me feel like a rich girl 😆.

This one is great, smoked vanilla and incense. Up market, smells luxury and has that popular DNA. Babycat, Vanagloria style

It is definitely a cross between Rosendo Mateu 5 and Babycat, actually more of RM5 though. Spicy Coca-Cola vanilla float.

If Initio Side Effect and Byredo Vanille Antique had a baby, this would be it!!

I get a lot of the vanilla and cognac with the almond .. its an ok scent
