Classic Patchouli

I completely fell for Classic Patchouli. A rich, deep and extremely dark take on the main theme that will mesmerize any traditionalist out there. The fragrance opens with a massive dose of earthy patch that immediately brings to mind of head shops, the 60s and the 70s and, while resulting extremely classic, it clearly shows there's something more going on. Vanilla and tonka break-in smoothering the general austerity while preserving the overall dark vibe of this fragrance. The composition gets warmer and deeper, meditative and incredibly comfortable with powdery nuances and creamy-ambery undertones. Addictive. If you like Reminescence Patchouli or Les Nereides Patchouli Antique, you ought to yourselves to try this. Nothing groundbreaking but so nicely executed to result incredibly irresistible. The perfect comfort scent. Adore! Rating: 8/10

For me, it’s all about the dry down. Morphs into something softer and lasts forever in a really great gentle-whiff-of something-nice, way. Love the vestiges on clothes too. No synthetic vibe which so many have. One of those I dread being discontinued. Hard to find in the US; thankfully Indigo has it. I’m a massive patchouli lover and like it in many formulations but this remains one of my top 5, if not #1. Not necessarily “complex”, but gets me where I want to go with fragrances- which is simply olfactory pleasure & appreciation in whatever form it takes.

Fantastic fragrance for the fall and winter. Initially to me it starts out as a fresh bergamot, patchouli scent however after a few minutes it starts to develop into a rich sweet patchouli with a chocolatey aroma. Excellent gourmand vibe to this one! Good choice for anyone into a sweet patchouli perfume with a chocolate emphasis. This ones most definately on my to buy list!

A dark, smooth and rich patchouli. A little herbal too. It's not dry and dusty like Patchouli Antique or Dior Patchouli Imperial. The drydown is a gorgeous vanilla, tonka and patchouli sweet scent and it lasts forever! 22 hours later and when I sniffed my arms it was still there strongly. A skin scent by then for sure but longevity is not an issue here. Full bottle worthy

This is another great one for patchouli fans. Patchouli supported by a nice sandalwood note, and then I find the vanilla and Tonka bean slightly sweeten and smooth it out. This one smells great and performs like a beast on my skin. As an added bonus, my wife went crazy over this one. This one has been added to my "must buy" list.

The way Von Eusersdorff settles is somewhat similar to Profumum's Patchouli (for me) although Von Eusersdorff is more earthy almost animalic and Profumum's is somewhat more commercialized & high-strung (although personally I still love both). Very comforting and true to form.

A simple, warm and straight forward patchouli. Opens with bergamot, then the middle brings out a more facets: a little medicinal but sweetened with tonka and vanilla. Classic Patchouli is easy to wear and will not overpower or gas out those near you. Quite lovely.

this has made me a Patchouli fan I think it is very straight forward - little powdery which takes the edges of for me like when after a big rainfall suddenly the sun gets out and makes it all warm and damp - dutch mid spring

OK, I got my bottle of Classic Patchouli. and I am waiting for Lorenzo Villoresi Patch. So I will update this review with a comparison of the two. I was loving the patch note in some new fragrances like Jovoy Private Label and Byredo Oud Immortal. and wanted more of it. I was hoping this would be like the creamy, earthy, lush patch I smelled in the opening of Jovoy Private Label. It is close to what I wanted, this was a blind buy. The opening blast is enjoyable and intense; It's a volitile, boozy, chocolatey patchouli blast, with quite a bit of sweetness for balance. In the mid, you get more of the herbal, medecinal aspects of patch, someone mentioned smelling the stems of the patchouli. I didn't care for the stem smell at first, but now I like it, because it's natural, and is one of the many facets of patchouli that wax and wane throughout the wearing of Classic Patchouli. You don't have to be afraid of overspraying because it's high quality and you will get more of the facets. During the opening and mid, I don't pick out the sandalwood or the bergamot, they are just there to smooth out, and keep the frag a bit fresh. I do notice the Tonka note as the second strongest note. It's a very nice accord, because the tonka is earthy, and goes nicely with the patch. I pick out the vanilla, but it's not as strong as the tonka. I don't like sweet frags. and this is not overly sweet. Patchouli can be medecinal, and is a powerful note, so the sweetness just makes it more creamy and rich. You get all the facets of patchouli here. I mostly get medecinal and chocolatey, sometimes a dark boozy quality of Patchouli. You also get the mossy wet earth, and some surprising facets: It is related to mint, and I get that green slightly minty facet. This is not perfumy like Chanel Coromandel, which gets feminine. Dior Patchouli Imperial is more of a solo patch, that's made very refined. But Patch is an earthy note, if it's going to be the dominant note, I like it to remain earthy and raw, as Classic Patchouli is. I am waiting for Lorenzo Patchouli which I think I will like better, it adds a nice balsamic note of benzoin. I think you can add rich woody notes to Patchouli, and still embellish the patchouli without taking away from it as a solo patch fragrance. Update: I got Lorenzo Villoresi patchouli and I'm glad it's quite different from classic Patchouli. I like both a lot. Lorenzo is a bit more to my liking. It's more minty, herbal, cold, unusual, medecinal, and smoky, than Classic Patchouli. It's also much less sweet, at times too dry. I like unusual medecinal frags. I think most people will like Classic Patchouli better, it's more sweet, earthy classic vib. I sprayed a generous dose of Classic Patchouli. Some of the facets really shown through. When you can overspray a fragrance and it just gets better, is a sure sign of a high quality fragrance and notes. I loved the great longevity, and how it was not linier, but evolves. The longevity is much better than Lorenzo Villoresi Patchouli, which has a more pure patchouli scent, and still has good longevity for edt. This is a good edp. Lovely patchouli fragrance. 'Oriental' indeed due to the wonderful powdery sandalwood. Strong patch that is softened and rounded without being so terrible 'vanilla' like lots of other patchouli perfumes. I like it a lot. Von Eusersdorff Classic Patchouli Balmy EDP is the latest one. Has anybody tried it already?

Majorly patchouli with a hint of bergamot. I feel that this perfume is closest to a simple patchouli oil bought at a health food store. The projection was high for the first 45 minutes then died down to a close-to-skin scent. The die down was also simply patchouli with no other components.

an herbal medicinal patchouli; straight up patch with some powdery qualities that fade in and out but not like Patch Boheme. The sandalwood give is that creamy quality.
