La Couleur de la Nuit

La Coleur de la Nuit is a nocturnal velour, casting blue and violet hues in my mind. Images appear of a tryst under the ever darkening sky, among a patch of lavender, nestled in the evergreens (mmm, fir balsam). It's like a reflection pool where passions dissolve. Its bedstraw sweetness is as subtle as woodruff, and the rose and geranium is an impressionistic glow. It feels as tender as a lingering kiss, while there is a concurrent strange moonlit aloofness. I think of the scene in the film adaptation of Maurice when Scudder, Maurice's working-class lover, climbs up on a ladder to enter through his bedroom window, and crawls into his bed to make love. It's that kind of dimly lit, forbidden affair. This is the smell of Scudder. Grass stains mingling with a fougère splashed on earlier in the day when he was at the barbers, and the sweat of countryside gamekeeping, hunting pheasant. An unimpressed reviewer suggests that La Coleur "smells like a variety of freshly cut garden weeds plucked and mixed together and made into (an) abomination salad." That withering assessment made me want to smell this—thank you, dear reviewer.

So, I got my sample from Ministry of Scent and gave it a healthy dosing on my hand... At first it was heavenly.. lavender, geranium, fresh and wonderful. And then the dry down to.....flat out tree. Not woods, just obnoxious, in your face, Christmas tree! Now, I LOVE my home to smell like this at certain times of the year, but Goodness , do I hate this smell on a human, male or female! Yuk! AND , the longer the dry down, the more Christmas tree it becomes...at least, on me. EDIT..so it's March, 2024...I was shocked at my review. Because, I LOVE this perfume! In fact, I just purchased it. It smells like herbal, heavenly peace... Not sure what my problem was before, but this perfume is perfect for those warm, summer days. The slightly powdery greenness is both cool, comforting and classy. It's very unisex, nothing girly or remotely sweet or feminine. Just fresh and clean.. I always say, sometimes you grow into or out of a scent. Apparently, I have grown into this one. 🤷 It has a rather mediocre performance, quickly becomes a skin scent. But that my only criticism. 5/10 performance 7/10 overall

Interesting fragrance! I can smell lavender, green touch and patchouli. Lavender is the star of the scent. More for my husband, for all seasons. It is a versatile fragrance, the freshness of lavender with the vanilla and fir balsam, creating an original scent. This perfume is 100% natural and based on organic wheat alcohol. A little touch of after-shave vibe... Calm, Peace! 9/10 I Love it

Smells amazing love this stuff, the lavender vanilla mix is so good smells like really good quality, but i dont think its blind buy worthy it smells really diffrent from other brands😅

Traditional fougere style fragrance, open with green and fresh spicy and turn into sweet lavender vanilla and tonka. For me it's so good. love at 1st sniff.

La Couleur de la Nuit is basically a dark Fougere with a piney heart. But what sets it apart is the lavender and vanilla that start in the top and linger on skin for several hours, most of the way into the heart of this perfume. This lavender and vanilla are magic together. The combo is greater than its individual parts, creating an aromatic sweetness that stand outs from the resiny pine but also works with it. As the perfume dries down it becomes a lemony pine, there’s still a slight feeling of the balsamicness of the vanilla but it’s greatly reduced and it’s missed. Out of about an 8 hour life on the skin the lavender-vanilla- pine triad lasts for 2.5 and it’s the best part of this and the reason to try it.

Just tested a sample of this. Was a freebie thrown in a order of samples I acquired. This is absolutely the worst fragrance I've smelled in awhile. Smells like a variety of freshly cut garden weeds plucked and mixed together and made into a abomination salad. If that appeals to you then this is for you.

La Couleur de la Nuit Voyages Imaginaires I find this outstanding from whole Voyages Imaginaires. It is nothing new, it is a traditional Barbershop - Fougere. That's very classic and tradition. La Couleur de la Nuit - is pure perfection because it doesn't have "non-scent" (pun intended) elements. It doesn't have something Random, it just the important element of Barbershop - Fougere and dial ratio perfection. It cut all unnecessity elements to preserve core of French Fougere. If you like LCDLN, you are smooth man. And you are high likely very secure. As usual from Voyages Imaginaries, it is full fragrance.

This one to me is a relative of Beau De Jour. Couleur is less minty fougere spiky and slightly more dense in texture and warmer.
