Beach Bizarre

The balance and the harmony between bizarre and beautiful I find this confusing, a bit bizarre perfume pleasant yet definitely not for moments when you want to relax. I see myself wearing this when I get some weird idea in my head that I want to immortalize on a canvas or even compose a tragicomic song in minor rather than major. Or maybe I need some special energy to set a record on the bench press in the gym. Whatever this scent brings to mind, it's something artistic or pushing physical performance to the limit. Yet, I find this composition beautiful as well. On my skin at least, I like how the notes perform and maybe I'm lucky since like "Thousand Lakes | V/siteur" this as well evoke good memories from my childhood. I used to swim a lot in the sea and I used to dive a lot. I love the smell of seaweed and sea salt on the skin. The sea here in Finland is much murkier and it clearly smells of algae so that’s why the water for example in Mediterranean Sea is utterly fresh to my nose. This is fruity and fresh and maybe because I'm not a fan of traditional fresh scents, I love this style. It's different, it's unique. Tropical fruits are not the most realistic ones, maybe even synthetic a bit but it doesn’t bother me here and this wouldn’t be “bizarre” if all the notes would be natural smelling, right? They are very well done regardless and together they achieve the right amount of strangeness that is sought in this fragrance. Cannabis note is tame here and Pathouli is gentle. Like in all perfumes where Ambergris is nicely done, there is some sensuality in the dry down. All in all, I love this perfume and all what I have tried for now, this not the most bizarre at all. Sun and fun (TOP): gardenia, ylang-ylang, lime, tropical fruit and sea salt. Anxiety strikes (BASE): seaweed, cumin, cannabis, patchouli and ambergris. This is a green, fruity, salty fragrance with a prominent lime note in it. This fragrance is the one I find most difficult to put words on out of the three fragrances from Visiteur and I think that's because I both find it kind of simple and fresh at the same time as it feels very complex and multifaceted. On their website they're describing it like this: "Holiday in the sun. Playing on the white sand, relaxing under rustling palm trees. Suddenly, darkness falls. You start to shiver and your heart beats faster. The velvety black night closes in. The endless crashing of the waves holds a dangerous attraction. Home seems further away than ever before." It has notes of gardenia, ylang-ylang, lime, tropical fruit, sea salt, seaweed, cumin, cannabis, patchouli and ambergris. I think that it is really well blended and a part of me really loves it, but I can't really see myself wearing this fragrance that often. It doesn't feel like a fragrance that I would reach for in the morning when it's time to pick a fragrance for the day... but who knows, I might change my mind about it when I've worn it a few more times. These kind of fragrances that I both find fresh/simple and complex at the same time I tend to like more and more after a few wearings. I'm not going to order a bottle of this one just yet, but if I know myself right I probably will order it one day... because I already like it more now the second time I'm trying it than I did the first time.

This fragrance is really fun. I'm not the best at identifying notes, but it's like cannabis, ocean air, something vaguely sweet/fresh, and just the right amount of medicinal. The ocean I picture isn't a pristine holiday beach, but rather a craggy, mossy beach where you'd find a shipwreck. An isolated beach, where you rejoice because there's no one else in sight. Ok, enough prose! This is a great party/casual/nightlife/daytrip scent. I wouldn't wear it to the office, and I would choose something else for date nights or formal affairs. This is a great scent for seeing a show, solo travel, or not giving a f**k. Don't get me wrong - it's pleasing and well-done. It's unique, and I get the vibe that it would intrigue cool people while repelling lame people. I'd say it leans slightly masculine. It shares DNA with Thousand Lakes by the same house, but TL has more sour berry and menthol.

Fruitti shisho, & cannabis... I get seashells, beach sand, shisho, pineapples, apples, styrax, citrus, & salt. This is like a hot summer time on the beach while the sun is vertical @12pm while having a virgin cocktail. It's slightly animalic, with salty fruits, and shisho. Cute.
