Star - Seren

It took me a while to work out what the initial spray of this fragrance reminds me of ... and it's Dolly mixture! A once popular and somewhat retro sweet, still available though not as popular as in my (dim and distant) youth. Not a bad thing just a bit of a surprise from a popular offering from a niche house, and given the notes as listed. I look forward to monitoring the drydown with interest.

Seren reminds me of the Spice Girls Impulse fragrance?!! It's sweet and citric with a slight friendly burnt hint of amber. It's sort of similar to Dior's Dune too but imagine it as sweet and playful rather than salty and pensive. I think it smells like a neo 90s reminiscent fragrance; it has aspects of the time, but it is functionally relevant to the present day in its execution. How to stop it being a caricature? All of the Wales Perfumery frags I've tried have the same slightly sweet chewy dry down.

I tried this in my local indie perfume shop, first on paper, then on my arm. went outside to smell it. very atmospheric, didn't identify particular notes on my skin so much as a feeling of a wild place with a tang of metallic/chemical something in the air. (might have also been my city, ha.) was light on me so didn't buy, but i will revisit this scent and house again.
