Personally, I find the orange and magnolia to be strangely incongruous. It's absolutely an amber fragrance, but there is little to no powdery effect in my opinion and the vanilla is very quiet. It becomes more powdery with age, but is mostly from the tonka bean. I'd been hoping for something more heavily powdery and perhaps more furry smelling. The civet is missing from the notes, but it quiet and short-lived. Another missing note is lily of the valley in very small proportions, beautifully blended and quiet. The orange is quite noticeable, but it competes with the base notes for attention for quite a while into the dry-down. Within the base, the Tonka bean is most noticeable alongside the deer musk and oakmoss. Despite the era it was popular in, it's not an oakmoss bomb. It's Chypre-adjacent for those who don't like that accord, but like oakmoss. Quality, sillage, and longevity are excellent. The immediate opening might smell slightly dated to some, but the dry-down is a balmy, sweet amber skin-scent. I don't like it on myself, preferring strongly Iris dominant perfumes or lots of spice and vanilla. There is a note I can't put my finger on that gives it a very balmy, syrupy, almost medicinal quality. It's not a bad smell in the least. This smells good and seems to be made of extraordinarily high quality ingredients and a very large percentage of naturals. It's absolutely worth a try.
