Delirium

White gardenia creamy floral... I can't say it's linier, but the dry down is even more beautiful than the top note. It starts as a dominant gardenia with an oriental bouquet of creamy lotus, frangipani, champaca, & creamy cedar. This is a real beautiful tender blend specially when it calms down! it smells like a hug of creamy white floral bouquet. Beautiful.

Whoah this fills the room. Beastmode projection, not a safe blind buy at all. Not to throw shade, but this smells like something an indie frag shop would sell for $30, not something a luxury house should produce. Smelling this feels like I'm browsing the discount Christmas section at an overpriced small boutique in the Springtime. I've had similar experiences with samples from Alkemia Perfumes if you want a similar profile for less money. Initial spray is a POWERFUL white floral powdery potpourri. The floral scents all seem pretty muddled together. I'm not sure if it's the tuberose or the gardenia overpowering the other flowers, but one is very strong. Initially I thought I was smelling lilac & lily of the valley, but I guess that was the gardenia b/c of the way the smell is sometimes formulated? I can smell some jasmine, some tuberose, basically just indolic white flowers and something in the background that's very sharp and sweet--which may be the frangipani b/c I don't detect it any other way. [Sorry], it's almost like obese fungal body odor. No vanilla at all in the initial spray, but the cedarwood is definitely present (hence, Christmas in spring). I'm not impressed. There's no polish, no sophistication, just a muddled loud mess. Drydown took about 45 minutes and I'm still not impressed. The frangipani is completely gone. I smell cedarwood and gardenia, not much jasmine. The gardenia in this frag is the sharp vintage compound, not modern creamy lactonic gardenia. It *almost* smells nice, but this one just isn't for me. I still smell absolutely no vanilla, but the medicinal vibe of champaca does come through. The warmth of the cedar is still present, just not quite so pronounced. Conclusion is that Delirium really just isn't for me. The whole vibe I'm getting from this one is Dirty Potpourri Grandma.

Mixed feelings about this. A colleague stopped in her tracks to say it was the best thing she has ever smelled, that it was spicy and sensual and magnifiscent. I walk back into rooms I’ve just left and they briefly smell of Champaca (paradise) and those are positive things. It also smells like Clerodendrum Chinense aka the Glory Bower flower which is lovely, but a scent almost indistinguishable to me from fancy wetwipes. This composition shares a musk note with Soleil Neige by TF so if you like that you may enjoy this, but, it is decidedly feminine and not suitable for men at all. And it unlocks a very particular childhood memory of mine: of being an older infant maybe 6 or 7 years old, too young to be sent alone into the men’s changing rooms at the swimming baths but being old enough to be self-conscious about still changing with mummy in the ladies’. On one particular day there was a gaggle of 'older’ very intimidating 14 year-olds in there going wild with body sprays, talcum powder, and hairspray; shrieking and laughing, confronting any of the mums who dared to challenge them and upsetting the decorum. I was terrified of them. This fragrance reminds me of those moments being dressed hurriedly and ushered out of the changing room to avoid confrontation. Now in my middle age it feels absurd to have been intimidated by a fourteen year old, but this fragrances makes me feel like a child again and back in that powerless moment. Some people will enjoy that sort of juvenation and infantilization, but I don’t. The musk and floral notes remind me of nappies and the emollient creams used on babies, albeit in an elevated form. This fragrance may, however, smell truly truly terrific on a lady, but just not on me - this really isn't for a man. However, anything with Champaca is a precious delight. So my subjective vote as it presents on my own skin is mixed, but I would relish enjoying this on a beautiful lady on whom I’m quite sure it would smell groomed and soft and really lovely. This entire line, I will say, is very impressive. Wesker are without doubt a brand to keep a close eye on. They were a stand out for me at BWME and I wish them every success with their wonderful range. So, my conclusion, if you are a lovely lady, or are perfuming a really opulent baby, this may well be a great fragrance for you, but if you are a man, jog on. But do smell the entire line as it is jolly good on the whole.

I unfortunately can’t shake the potpourri scent association this gives off for me and I feel like the notes are clashing. I liked parts of it, it had a creaminess to it I enjoyed but other parts I felt were too overbearing, especially in the beginning you’re hit with a freight train of so many florals and a huge dose of baby powder like smell. Just too much for me. Also talk about performance, this has nuclear projection and longevity!
