The Scent of Banat

this is art in a bottle this reminds me of amouage jubilation 25 if all the darker african resins from its base(opoponax and myrrh) got removed in exchange for animalistic and mossy notes, the result would be an animalistic, slightly resinous, green and earthy scent aka the scent of banat. when i spray it on my arm i get a heavy blast of warm animalistic barnyard notes from the castoreum and unprocessed animal skin, raspberry, olibanum, green and slightly floral notes. its quite linear on my skin for around 4 hours and after that i get more earthy scents like fresh green moss and soil plus some brewed coffee sludge . the funny coincident is that last month i was mountain hiking and one humid area where the river flowed through the rocks and sun couldn't reach one side of the rocks due to the tall trees and rocks created an environment that fresh green moss could grow all over on one side of the giant rocks, and the curious me grabbed a sample of those beautiful green coat to sniff and to bring back home. the moss on the scent of banat vividly reminds me of that mossy earthy scent its just so fascinating, it just throws me back to that place and this is why i LOVE this scent, it smells so realistic. it creates an atmosphere inside of your brain the moment you smell it and transfers you into other realms and places. it literally reminds me of a village with greenery and mountains, where there are alot of sheep and animals roaming around, there are alot of raspberry bushes and tart fruit trees on the sides , trees have blossomed and the weather is humid and warm so greenery can cover everything. the downside or i can't really say downside is the projection considering the price. it lasts around 7 to 8 hours on my skin but it has maximum 10 cm projection probably because its an extrait and the scent is very natural and realistic unlike other synthetic room filler bombs and for me thats a plus, because i wear this for myself and i don't want to smell like barn yards and animals to other people but at least you should consider that the projection is weak before dropping 200$ for a 50 ml fragrance. این عطربه عنوان یه رایحه هنری فوق العادست.هنگام اسپری روایح بسیار قوی حیوانی و طویله ای حس میکنید به همراه دود کندر و تمشک. بعد از چند ساعت بوی به شدت واقعی خزه که روی سنگ رشد میکنه حس میکنید به همراه خاک و تفاله قهوه دم شده. حساب کنید رفتید به یک روستای مرطوب و بوی گاو و گوسفند همه جا پیچیده، اطرافتون درختا شکوفه زدن ، کلی بوته تمشک و میوه های ترش دیده میشن و هوا دم کردست. اینقدر دم کردست که سبزه همه جارو پوشونده و بوی خزه و خاک زمین همه جارو گرفته و با بوی حیوانات روستا و میوه ها قاطی شده.هیچ عطری مثل این عطر منو نمیندازه تو یه مکان و زمان دیگه واقعا شگفت انگیزه. البته از نکات منفی باید بگم با توجه به قیمت زیادش ماندگاری متوسط و پخش بوی افتضاحی داره حدس میزنم بخاطر مواد طبیعی زیادی که در این عطر استفاده شده و اینکه اکستریت هست( اکستریت پخش بوی به مراتب کمتری داره نسبت به پارفام وغلظت های پایین تراز پارفام) اما طبیعت به شدت حیوانی و روستایی این عطر اقتضا میکنه که فقط خودتون از این رایحه لذت ببرید نه بقیه و من با این مورد اصلا مشکلی ندارم. کمی منو یاد امواج جوبیلیشن میندازه اگه رزین های آفریقایی بیس جوبیلیشن رو حذف کنی و به جاش خزه،روایح زمینی خاکی و البته حیوانی اضافه کنی.

Winter is upon us on my side of the world and when winter comes I like to swaddle myself in my collection of leather perfumes for comfort and warmth. Staving off the brisk wind and cutting through dry and chilly days while also smelling, professional and smart. Wesker's The Scent of Banat (Banat being a region in Central and Eastern Europe, located mostly in Romania where Kristijan Berta, the cocreator of the brand, is from) is one of the most beautiful leathers that I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Tuscan Leather does Raspberry (a note actually created by frambinone and enhanced by castoreum) and Leather (Castoreum). The Scent of Banat seeks to be new and original by instead combining Leather accord with Blackberry. The combination is Incredible. Dignified and primal. The blackberry is jammy becoming inky with the interplay on the leather. The leather's realness is accentuated by the olibanum, patchouli and blackberry, and leather, the scent, is described to also have a tobacco facet which is present by the tobacco blossom. It smells exotic and resinous/gummy reminding me of my time spent in Africa and the rich leather goods, chairs, sandals, bags that you can find in abundance. It is serious but ever-so-slightly light-hearted. This is an excellent and realistic leather, smoothly blended with no roughness whatsoever. It is a very earthy and damp feeling fragrance with a malty and tarry sweetness. In my opinion it is almost boozy like the leather has been soaked in port wine. I imagine this booziness is a result of the oak. I detect hints of coffee here and there for increased warmth and pleasantness, and to me it is calming. As it dries it becomes deeply and darkly fruity like a bitter rind of a plum peaking through. It is very realistically plummy in the base. All facets of lounging in a luxury-made leather chesterfield in a dimly lit aristocratic den can be found in the Scent of Banat. The Scent of Banat can also be described as rubbery almost feeling gamey and burnt. It is so incredibly smooth. The Scent of Banat, another blissful leather to put in my winter rotation. Indeed a smoothly blended, exciting and approachable leather perfume. The lesser performer of the line in terms of lasting power, but still no slouch as the rest are beasts. TSoB lasts for some time, 6-8 hours but with a slightly timid sillage which in my opinion is welcome for a complex leather blend such as this. 🐮🥃🍇 10/10 Has a bit of the rubbery top of the Gucci Guilty Absolute DNA creeping around in the base which extends my love for it, but not at all a clone or an inspiration.

#1522 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant. For all my hundreds of thousands of air miles there are still many parts of the world I've never been to, and the Banat region is one of them. An area with a rich history, ethnic diversity, split between three nations. I imagine there's a lot to see. And it borders on Transylvania, so a side trip to Dracula's castle would be a must. If Banat smells like this scent I understand why the Romans, Goths, Gepidae, Huns, Avars, Slavs, Magyars, Serbs and Turks all wanted to own it. This is a really unique and attractive scent! The combination of notes is like nothing I've encountered, and of the 1,521 scents I've catalogued, this is absolutely top ten (though I would like more potency). It's woody, animalic, leathery, with olibanum to give it endurance, blackberry to add some fruitiness, and cistus incanus to give it a nice floral touch. I've realized how much I enjoy Cistus Incanus in a scent. BDK "Gris Charnel", Amouage "Jubilation 40 Man", Byredo "De Los Santos", Roja Dove "Sweetie Aoud", Roja Dove "Apex", Tumi "Continuum", Loewe "7 Elixir", and dozens more I enjoy all have it. I have a lunch date today with a beautiful woman, and I am definitely wearing this. No way this will offend anyone in any setting, but I'd definitely save this for dates. Moderate performance (Makes it to lunch), so don't fear overspraying. Not cheap, but not stupidly expensive. Dua has a dupe, which I'm sure like all Dua dupes is pretty close, that's $33 an ounce. So ounce for ounce a dupe that's way cheaper than the original, but is it enough to make me settle for a dupe, or use Dua's always malfunctioning webpage? Okay I ordered the dupe. Scent of Banat: The star of this show is definitely Castoreum--the synthetic beaver. Lots of reports of beavers savagely hurting humans lurking around the mound or lodge. They were probably trying to bust up the nest to 'undam' the river. Yep The point: don't mess with this one either if you can't handle it. It IS animalic. I love animalics but I don't wear them much in public. This scent has a nice earthiness to it. Maybe the listed note of soil tincture? Also, I am just wild about the woodiness of the listed oak note. Such a wonderful wood! I hated pizza when I was a kid and now I love it. Animalic is an acquired taste. Some people say start with Polo 'Supreme Leather' but I disagree. Don't start 'gentle' with it. Have the major experience. Don't overthink it. Now. . . what the hell am I talking about? I guess this may apply to alot of things. Settles in so nicely and not at all crass. It does soften and fade fairly fast and the ultimate drydown really makes sense for a more masculine fragrance. This is no pussy-footing around but a real class act. What can I say I like Paris Hilton 'Heir' too. Like the Blue Oyster Cult Song--'Don't Fear the Beaver'.

Opening was tangy dirt - but settled into warm incense and forest floor. Many layers of scent drift in and out of the trees. Woodsmoke, pine branches, men in cloaks. This is a very interesting, well-crafted perfume. Genuinely unisex. Not a safe blind buy - it’s too strong, dark, virile.

Also seconding SearchingScents. However, though the review is spot on, this fragrance is a pass for me, it unfortunately is nothing special, I think most leather scents unfortunately smell the same on me no matter the composition:( still really like this though!

#50 on my Fragrance Review Journey So I got Scent of Banat for a deal to good to pass up. Although I was blind buying the fragrance, I knew I could always resell it and get my money back. How was it? It was just an ok for me. The projection and sillage are great. The scent was flat and linear on my skin. I mostly got patchouli, spices, and oakmoss. The profile is right up my alley but I just couldn't get too much from it. I suspect it was more to do with my body chemistry then the actual fragrance. This does happen from time to time. While this fragrance wasn't for me I would highly recommend getting a sample of it to try it on yourself.

ریویوی این عطر به شدت سخت بود برای من.هم ازین جهت که در عین سادگی و شفافیت نتها بسیار غیر قابل تفکیک بودن برای من.و هم از جهتی که منو میبرد به دوران خوش گذشته و افسوس هایی که همه ما داریم باهاش زندگی میکنیم و دورانی که هیچوقت برنمیگرده. خاصترین و زیباترین روایح انیمالیک و حیوانی رو با این عطر تجربه کردم و منو برد به زمین فوتبال محلمون و جایی که پاتوق گله گوسفندان بود و رایحه بکری که با وزش باد به مشامم میرسید. به سرعت تغییر نتهارو شاهدش بودم و اینجاست که تشخیص نتها سخت میشه. بیس این عطر رو روایح خزه ای و مرطوب و کپک مانند تشکیل داده انگار که زمین مرطوب رو از نزدیک استشمام کنید و نتهای میوه ای، کندر و نتهای گلی روی این بستر خودشونو نشون میدن طوری که یه لحظه رایحه کندر رو حس میکنید و لحظه ی دیگه تمشک و رایحه گلی. شخصا رایحه گلی که از عطر میگیرم یه رایحه رزمانند هست که فک میکنم از گل ناز باشه و واقعا حرفه ای کار شده. بسیار لذت بردم از استشمام این کار زیبا. انگار سفری بود تو منطقه زیبای سوادکوه و جنگلهای هریکانی. عبور از دشت وسیع و چراگاه گوسفندان.گذر از راههای باریک جنگلی و مرداب سبز و رفتن به بالادستها و چیدن میوه های تمشک جنگلی و افتاب بعد از یه روز بارونی. ضد و نقیض ها راجبه پرفورمنس ای عطر زیاد هست.ولی به عقیده بنده پخش و موندگاری باتوجه به جنس رایحه مناسب و معقول هست.

I got the discovery set from Wesker and this one was my favourite but it probably won't appeal to everyone. But for me...This is so damn sexy and spicy and " soily* as in I can actually smell the soil fertile with exotic fruit and flowers. There's even a bit of fermentation going there. Also reminds me of the smell of these dried mango achar ball thingys my mum used to get from Newmarket in Kolkata. I think only a Bengali will know what I mean. You can also get them from the Bangladeshi shops in East London. The drydown got even better. It also lasted forever on my skin. This one will be a full bottle.

Initially the first few seconds scared me, then it settled with a rather low sillage and it turned out to be well blended, comfortable, safe and pleasant. Basically I have a slightly animalic dark leather that reminded me of Anubis. With earthy, smoky undertones of dull cigars and olibanum, moist oak soaked in blackberries and puffs of coffee and chamomile. Not my ideal leather, this is quite dark, tarry, fruity, but always round and pleasant to wear. Nocturnal, masculine, mature. It instills confidence. Good.

I don't know how they did it but this is a purple hat clone without an oud now. Not sure how they are giving the oud note, probably the leather notes mixed with castorem and soil tincture. More wearable then purple hat imo. Not bad at all, but was expecting something else. Will update after full wear. Update: not so harsh as purple hat, it's almost as if it's the things I like about purple without the animalic touches. Lasts forever, great projection, decent price. Well worth the sample at very least

Medicinal fertile soil... i get a medicinal soil with a touch of fruit. Oak, soil, olibanum, castoreum, and patchouli with a t ouch of blackberry & chamomile as the chamomile shows very bright at first and fades away as it cools down. Nice!
