Mon Musc a Moi

Lovely unique vanilla. I forget who wrote it, but I read a review that said this scent had a "sharp" texture, like a meringue. PERFECT

You're scarfing down a slice of gooey butter pie while standing in a thick garden of flowers on a boiling hot day in the middle of the summer. The sticky sweet butter, roses, and sweat create a humid sourness, a bit like the cloud hovering over the compost heap at the back of your yard, littered with rotting fruit. Mon Musc a Moi is a sort of airy, floral gourmand, unisex, while perhaps leaning a bit toward the feminine side of the spectrum. It's not a challenging fragrance, unless you're a man and find some challenge in pulling off florals, which Dominque Ropion has integrated very nicely into the composition. There are clear elements of a light, semi-sweet vanilla and pale toffee in the base and heart, however, they don't necessarily dominate as the peach blossom and heliotrope approximate them in strength and the amount of attention that they command, maybe at something along the lines of a 60/40 ratio. What results from the peach blossom is a more tropical sort of floral aroma than your typical garden variety florals--think pale yellows and purples and oranges rather than deep reds and pinks. I believe this was a wise choice, and it lends a light, playful airiness to everything, maintaining a young and carefree feel. While there's nothing incredibly complex or cerebral about MMM, I think it's a great gourmand for a young woman as it just has a fun, light-hearted appeal with no off notes or anything intrusive and overpowering. It's a casual fragrance and smells very nice, albeit a little too 'cute' for me to wear personally. Sillage is nice and diffusive with a mid-range to light density. Longevity is good. Thumbs up. On a side note, as of late A Lab On Fire seems to have mastered niche compositions with a mainstream appeal. Everything from Paris*L.A. to Almost Transparent Blue, Liquid Night, and even some earlier stuff like L'Anonyme features some peculiar aspects more typical of the niche genre, but polished and designed with ingredients that feel right at home in the mainstream designer market. They're kind of like Bond No. 9 in that sense, though I actually like ALOF's style a bit more. EDIT: The longevity is crazy for Mon Musc. I could clearly smell this on my skin 16 hours later; a skin scent at that point, but still very much there.

I wanted to love this so much!!! The notes are so cozy, and attractive!! It is a sweet musc, stays close to the skin, lovely scent, enveloping, I detect mostly tonka bean, and musc, not all the notes mentioned above, weak, longevity here isn't great...for the price, I expected a better longevity...not sure I would buy the bottle, as I own Aerin Lauder Amber musc, which is the same type of soft comforting scent...a lab on fire just doesn't have powerhouse scents..I understand this is advertised more or less as a softer scent, yet after 15 mn , it is gone....for the price, maybe they should create longer lasting scents, or are we paying for the concept more than the juice!? I prefer the Narciso Rodriguez essence de musc better..it has more body It is too soft to be unisex.

Saw someone had commented on this so I thought I'd try it. I ordered a sample of this. Luckyscent advertises it as a vanilla musk, which it's really not. It has a slightly sweet, fruity aura, but I'd hardly call it a very vanilla scent. Thankfully I don't like it enough for the $150 bottle. I finally figured out what this smells like, weeks after I first tried it: rotten fruit. I supposed that's where the vanilla comes in, it mixes with the peach blossom and comes out smelling like a peach that's been on your counter 2 weeks. I keep trying to like it, but it's just not what I consider the "vanilla musk" it's billed as.

The sample of this arrived from Lucky Scent, and i'm wearing it today..At first it reminded me of another scent, but I couldn't quite figure out which one..After an hour or so, I recognized it..It has a strange resemblance to "La Vie Est Belle"..which is not even a musc...I had thought that I would want a full bottle, but now think i'd rather spend my money elsewhere...I wish that I could find a musc that was pleasing to me, not too sweet, not like cheap versions....

nutty buttery milky musk , i like it a lot not on my to buy list but i am oh so glad i got to try it , maybe it is the weather, i will keep my sample and see if it morphs during the summer
