Ocean Eyes

I love this perfume, for no other reason than it reminds me of my wonderful Piano teacher. She wore a perfume in the 80s and 90s so strikingly similar to this (I have no idea what it was), that whenever I smell Ocean Eyes I am immediately taken back to my childhood Piano lessons. My teacher became an important mentor me and inspired me to pursue a career in Music, so this perfume holds special significance to me. Perhaps it is a mediocre scent, perhaps an inferior dupe of other, better scents, but I don't care. My teacher may have passed away in 1996, but her legacy lives on in me and in this fragrance. NB for some reason I associate scents with particular colours. Being aquatic, Ocean Eyes is definitely blue, so I only ever wear it when I am wearing blue!

I adore this fragrance, and often get compliments on it. On me, it lasts a loooong time - I’ll have a shower and still smell it on my hair after it’s washed.

So I got a sample of this at Priceline Pharmacy because I had heard of the brand from a coworker and wanted to check it out. I instantly enjoyed the open, very citrusy and bright, something I love in a nice summer frag. I found that it didn't project that well for me, but I have only worn it once, and it's winter here in Australia and it has been cooler than usual lately, so I hope it pumps a little better with warmer weather. I will agree with many of the reviewers that it's very similar to CK One, which is totally fine, I personally enjoy CK One as an easy grab on a trip to the store or just running errands or working in the yard. I know very well the performance of CK One is kinda trash, but whatever, you can get 200ml for like $40 AU all the time at Chemist Warehouse. Anyway, this isn't a review of CK One, so I will say that Ocean Eyes is similar, but it definitely smells more natural and richer than CK One. And surprisingly I smelled it faintly of it on my skin the next morning., Obviously not strong at all, but to actually smell it over 15 hours after I applied it is kind of impressive. I will re-review this once I can wear it in the spring or summer to give a true impression of it. But I can almost surely say that I don't think I would pay $130 AU for 100ml. I would probably need the price point to be around $80 AU for me to pull the trigger on it. I haven't smelled D&G Light Blue Eau Intense, but now I want to. Also, I see some reviewers say it's like a deodorant, I don't get that, but hey everybody's nose is different. Like I said, I think it's a very nice frag, but not really unique enough or intoxicating enough for me to break the $100 mark which is usually how I decide on a purchase. But that may change when give it a good shot in warmer weather.

There are many aquatic themed scents, such as Replica's Beach Walk or Ellis Brooklyn's Sand ,which emulate more of the sandy shores and ocean breeze. This perfume is a deep submersion into a crystal clear ocean on a scorching summer day. The sea salt opening feels like the sting in your eyes or seaweed stuck onto your swimsuit. The grapefruit and juniper at the heart of it do a fantastic job at replicating the distinctive smell of summer air in Australia. Incredibly realistic with fairly decent longevity and projection.

This is a straight out dupe of D&G Light Blue Pour Homme Eau Intense. Like 90% clone - i have both on either side of my arm right now. WIE uses some sort of aldehyde or musk in it that makes it appear more soapy which becomes more apparent on the drydown, if you're into that. D&G is more citrus/calone forward. The crazy thing is that WIE is selling this for nearly double the price of what the original sells theirs!! Say what you like about clone houses, they are definitely bold if anything...

I’m not exactly sure what they were aiming for with this one. They may as well have only listed the base notes because after the 3-5 minute citrus-astringent opening it’s giving musky wood, WHOOD, I say. I had to throw the H in for emphasis. This dries down like what I’d envision a Wish version of Gucci’s illegitimate baby child of Oud would be. It’s there, it’s actually quite lovely; but no-one will know but you. Then it’s gone, just like that. However, as mentioned, it’s a nice — almost oud-ish wood. People with musk sensitivities might not be a fan, as their noses can confuse musky and musty. This is definitely a musky wood. I figured I’d highlight this because the top notes might make someone think they’re getting something citrusy; or the color and sales pitch might make them think they’re getting something aquatic: it is neither. They literally copied the exact notes for D&G Light Blue Intense Pour Homme and just used a mad wild heavy hand with the Amberwood and Musk; pouring it like I’d pour a drink for a friend that got cheated on. I’d say this is a more masculine leaning unisex; but for the wood and musk loving girlies - it’s unisex. Too bad its performance reminds me of my ex. Though, even if it did perform well, it’s nothing unique; I’ve smelled it before x ♾️. I try not to criticize anything with unstable citrus notes, bless their efforts, they’re never going to hang out with us. With that said, this is definitely on the extreme side of, “where the hell did they go?” I can’t emphasize how fast every note vanishes except the wood and musk; and they’ll leave within 3 hours, too. I should add that I really enjoyed their discovery sets presentation, it’s unique and aesthetically pleasant! I ordered the biggest set and added on Ocean Eyes since it wasn’t included. The packaging was a nice change from the usual. [I can’t speak on the rest because I’m backed up on testing 200+ and my nose is tired of my shenanigans, I’ll sniff them sooner or later] — Later arrived and it’s clear they’re a fan of the musk they use because over half of their collection smells exactly the same.

If your male, identify as male, have masculine tendencies or a hyper-femme that wants to teleport to the man-side for a day, this is your fragrance. It’s clean and fresh, completely Juniper-dominant with not a lot to calm it down, it’s really, really is nice. For a fella. It’s not on my list at all and I’ll be donating this sample off to my Frag Queens at work.

6/10, very masc smell. Feels like I'm smelling a tree that just washed up on the shore.

I love this brand but this smells like cheap men’s deodorant.

Honestly it's just an overpriced boring version of CK One. I am surprised how this is one their best sellers. Anyway it's a bang average summer / daytime fragrance. Opens with a blast of citruses and the dry down is mainly musky and ambery. I've used CK one as my car scent so I just can't get that out of my mind. It's in offensive safe buy for some with a lot of money and wanting to try and alternative to CK one.

Boring. You’ve smelled it a thousand times before. At least Lynx/Axe body spray sticks around for a few hours. On the right person it would be inoffensive. On me? My skin chemistry turns whatever synthetic musk they use into a sulfurous, eggy mess. Biggest disappointment of the whole discovery set.

I've never smelled D&G Light Blue Eau Intense Pour Homme, but the note listing is identical, so I'm assuming this is Who Is Elijah's dupe. Anyway, Ocean Eyes is far too masculine for me - this smells like a cologne a high schooler would over spray in the boy's locker room. Not for me. 0/10

Too strong for what the scent is (for my taste). It has something that makes it smell quite grounded (?), which I do often like in a perfume, but not in combination with the other notes here.

Got a free sample from Adore Beauty. Quite generic like the cheap CK male perfumes...the musk is too strong to my liking. No.

I thought I would love this based on the notes but it's awful. Like bad cologne. Lynx deodorant smells better.

Uh It's like those lightly flavoured water bottles you can buy from a service station for $3. Pointless

Very much a clone of light blue PH. This dna is a bit tired from the late 90s early 2000s freshies.

I hate this fragrance. It smells like a screechy and way too salty sea water, burnt driftwood & off citrus juice. Really offensive to my nose despite the beautiful colour of the juice in the bottle. Definitely pulls more masculine. You have to be the right person to pull this off and make it smell remotely okay

So fresh, I can smell every note, makes me feel like I’m outdoors at the beach. I really really love it, taking this bottle with with me everywhere.

Ocean Eyes by Who is Elijah is a powerhouse citrus aromatic with a strong salty seawater accord. It does lean more masculine, however, it doesn't feel out of place on a woman's skin. It shares some similarities with CK One, yet I find this fragrance less complex and more salty. Ocean Eyes is attempting to appeal to lovers of aquatic and/or oceanic fragrances and tap into the Mediterranean beach vibes. The opening is a strong blast of grapefruit, salt, mandarin orange and juniper. Grapefruit as a note usually turns sour and acrid with my skin chemistry, yet thankfully this did not occur with Ocean Eyes. The grapefruit and salt blend is quite bright, sunny and effervescent on my skin. I spritzed Ocean Eyes onto my wrists before bed and was surprised to find that I could still faintly detect this fragrance when I awoke the next morning. The longevity and sillage are quite impressive, making this a great choice for warm, humid climates as it is almost guaranteed to last. Ocean Eyes is not a fragrance I would normally gravitate towards as I prefer floral aquatics over citrus-focused aquatics. I would, however, enjoy smelling this on a man.

I used to buy men’s deodorant for myself as a teenager here and there and this smells very much like my tomboy days. I like it fine and actually think it smells good, but exactly like a deodorant stick. This is masculine, not unisex. I get citrus and a lot of strong salty musk.

i used up the 2ml sample so quick and this used to be a daily driver for me but lately it has been coming on way too strong for my liking,, girl what happned :'(
