Baniyas

Baniyas by Widian is one of those rare perfumes that stops you in your tracks. There's an immediate sense of elegance and mystery to it. Created by master perfumer, Jordi Fernandez (one of my favourite perfumers), it’s surprising how different this feels from his usual style. It's more understated, more enigmatic, but still undeniably masterful. I can't easily pick out the individual notes, and honestly, I don't really care about that. In my opinion, everything blends so seamlessly that it feels more like a mood than a list of ingredients. It’s smooth, sweet and slightly woody. The kind of scent that doesn't shout, but somehow lingers in people’s memory. It's long lasting and has strong projection. I rate it 9/10.

Absolutely intoxicating. This might be my favorite discovery of the year so far. Neither the notes nor the note breakdown does any justice to the fragrance, it should be sweet-floral-woody-aromatic in my opinion. It is the most velvety sweet geranium floriental that I ever laid my nose on. Extremely well blended, long lasting but soft at the same time. I don’t detect any oud and if any at all it doesn’t show up on my skin. Patchouli is there not overwhelmingly so but more as a supporting note adding some depth. I believe it is a unisex fragrance but leans a tad bit to feminine side due to its sweetness.

Banyias made me say wow. It is a very balanced fragrance, with a citrusy, juicy opening, which meets soft, non-pungent lavender and artemisia, a note that I adore. In the evolution it becomes woody and creamy, with a fresh base that makes your head spin. I really liked it, it ended up on my wishlist, because smelling these kind of compositions makes me feel good and happy, and this is one of them. “Romantic Landscape” painted by Kandinsky.

Um perfume fora do radar que é espetacular !!! Baniyas WIDIAN consegue ser elegante, sensual, marcante e bem exclusivo. Apesar de eu achar um pouco mais para o público feminino, eu uso com frequência e recebo muitos elogios por onde passo. Fixação fantástica com boa projeção, deixando você cheiroso por muito tempo. This is absolutely gorgeous, Initio Paragon and Widian Baniyas are cousin. If you like Paragon you’ll like this. Sillage is amazing, paragon is fresher and less flowery sweet. Longevity is amazing 10/10 The way this perfume house blend perfume is just chefs kiss. Just purchase New York as all 3 blind buys I purchased thus far have been amazing.

I don't like Liwa but I love this one. For me they are not similar at all. I am sensitive to some aromachemicals but fortunately not to those that are in this one. To me it is a woody, sweet lavender perfume. Elegant and easy to wear. I got compliments wearing it.

Love at first sniff! 😍 This definitely doesn't remind me of Haltane but if I had to compare, this is more of a female version of Haltane. 😉 More of a fall, winter scent but can definitely be worn year round.

With WIDIAN fragrances, you always expect art, but Baniyas caught me completely off guard. Instead of a heavy, suffocating desert air, I was gifted the finest liquid silk. This is a scent that doesn't demand attention by making noise,it conquers through pure sophistication.The first spray is incredibly addictive. The lavender and bergamot don't feel sharp or cologny here; instead, they possess a beautiful, creamy sweetness. It reminds me of a ripe, mystical fruit growing in a hidden garden. The real magic happens as the scent settles. Oud, which can often be wild and heavy, is tamed and polished to perfection by cedarwood and geranium. There is nothing aggressive about it; everything is smooth, velvety, and incredibly clean. On my skin, the sandalwood and patchouli base leaves a warm, rich, and sensual trail that lasts for hours.It is so versatile that I can easily wear it to the office, yet special enough for the most glamorous nights out. At it’s core, Baniyas feels intensely regal and middle-eastern with a western, mass appealing spin. All in all this is a geranium and oud focused scent with all the power and intensity you could expect from such a scent, and yet feels surprisingly smooth and modest. The geranium gives the scent this jammy, rosey nuance with some green aromatic touches from lavender and earthy patchouli. This compliments the oud very well, which smells very likely synthetic but comes across very smooth and easy on the nose. The sandalwood and synthetic oakmoss in the base add to the creamy sleek nature of the scent, making for an interestingly easy wear. I greatly enjoy my sample of this, I feel it would thrive in the autumn months where the air has a bite, but the flowers are still thriving. Overall a lovely scent but I don’t feel compelled to buy a bottle, it’s not a true love for me.

Tested Baniyas on paper and on skin multiple times. It opens fresh, woody, and softly aromatic — with hints of green herbs and a touch of lavender. Despite the aromatics, it never turns masculine; instead, it stays smooth, warm, and balanced. As it dries down, it becomes a gentle woody–aromatic scent with a clean, soft character. No harsh oud, no earthy notes, no sharp patchouli — everything is blended in a very smooth way. It’s unisex but leans slightly feminine to my nose. Easy to wear, elegant, non-offensive, and suitable for any season or setting, including the office. I like it, but it didn’t give me the wow effect I hoped for. Good and polished.

Pleasing modern fougere that exudes a sweet sophisticated vibe. The perfume opens with notes of artemisia, bergamot and lavender. The heart is cedar, geranium and slight oud. The perfume settles on a synthetic oakmoss (evernyl) like base surrounded by hints of patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and very good longevity. Overall nice and comforting, but also a bit familiar. Enjoy!

Smells like sweet tuberose to my nose, none of these notes here, I don't know how but I'm not mad at it!

Blended to the point of each note being almost indistinguishable from one another, which isn’t necessarily bad. It is definitely warm and woody, quite feminine from the floral aspect. A little nutty. It’s quite nice, but not my cup of tea. I find the projection to be moderate, as well as the duration of the fragrance, but I’m not sure if that’s a consequence of me trying it from a 3 fluid oz tester bottle. The scent reads to me as mature, with the ending tone coming off as a bit more playful. In story, it smells like the depths of a woman in her 40’s closet. She’s lived in, but confident and knows what she likes.

I am sick and tired of sampling these "BR540 for men" fragrances, apparently brands are not, thus launching them in hordes. For reference this is very similar to Liwa from the brand, just bit greener

Soup of aromachemicals. I'm really disappointed at this price point. I couldn't even skin test it because the ambroxan was dominant right away. NOT blind buy safe if you're sensitive to aromachemicals.

One of those clone perfumes that give you a headache, not an original work. I'm bored of smelling the same compositions in every brand. Pass.

Oh my days, this is a powerhouse, but why do I smell rose yet there is no rose in the notes, nor have I noticed anyone mention it? Or is my broken nose smelling florals and translating it to rose? This is sweet florals so far to me, very feminine leaning but I don't really care what way it leans as long as I love the smell, and although it's way out of my comfort zone for a feminine leaning fragrance I _still_ don't care as this is unbelievably well blended. I don't get BR540 at all, which is a good thing as I don't care for BR540, but It comes across to me as a lot more feminine than BR540. So far it's about 1/2 a spray and 10 minutes in and it's still a sweet floral to my nose, and I know Jordi's work, but this is not what I'm accustomed to from him. Although I can understand why he has created this in the light it was made, which is due to the nature in which this house reflects itself, and is very nice, but I'm struggling to say this creation is for "me". It's way too sweet and floral at the same time, and I again am struggling to see the comparisons to Haltane or BR540, and I don't sense the smallest bit of Oud in here, and I haven't got the faintest idea of what Evernyl should smell like, apart from what I've read of online. This is an amazing composition by Jordi, but it leans that little bit too much on the feminine side for my liking, and I don't know if I'd have an appropriate occasion in which to wear this; I can see a very regal woman dressed in a lush fabulous red or black dress in some very upper class set-formal late evening event. This is way too nice to try and layer it with anything else, in my books anyway. EDIT: This is indeed one hell of a gorgeous powerhouse, and a very sublime symphony of notes, and this is going to go on and on and on, and I don't even doubt that this 1/2 spray is going to still be here tomorrow. To me this is a fragrance for women in dressed up regal occasions, it's not something I can see most women as wearing everyday, it's just too grand for that, and this is a rare occasion for me to say that it's too feminine and regal for me. I can't see myself wearing this to the gym or out for a bike ride with my biker friends. I just feel this is wasted on me, and I wish I had bought Granada instead which would be probably more apt for my. I do suggest that you do try this fragrance out, it is amazing, and I am going to try Granada and see if this house can make slightly more tame creations :) EDIT 2: I just paid attention to the outer box of this fragrance (I uploaded it on fragram above). The outer box paints the *exact* picture of what the bottle aims to deliver; the floral image in a Middle Eastern land, that really does sum up the fragrance perfectly :) Enjoy and God bless :)

Tested from a 2ml decant today, 6 sprays (2 on forearms under longsleeve shirt), and apparently this projects quite well all work day long. Fortunately, this is a highly agreeable fragrance with others and I probably could have limited it to 4 sprays with similar projection results. I've read comparisons to PDM's Haltane, and I get that comparison. If memory serves, I read somewhere that Haltane was more woody and Baniyas is more gourmand. I will go along with this; however, I'm not entirely sure that "gourmand" is exactly the right term. Definitely sweeter but the type of sweetness that sandalwood provides. My biggest challenge is deciding between this or Liwa (a fruitier version if you will), and then also deciding if I actually need it in my colleciton. Otherwise, this is great, deep, rich, luxurioius smelling fragrance that does a great job walking that line between being conservative enough for the workplace and noticeable enough for after hours appeal. Short of whether or not I "need" this one, Baniyas would be an easy full bottle purchase for me. Btw, I received a very glowing compliment from a female coworker with this one today.

I'm not usually a fan of unisex fragrances. I prefer more feminine leaning fruity florals. However there was something about this that I couldn't get out my head. I fell in love at first sniff then purchased a travel size. To me it's very floral reminds me of Fleur narcotic by ex nihilo but with oud added. On first spray it's a floral bouquet then settled to a very creamy sandlewood with that u feeling oud. I don't usually like oud but this is done right and not overpowering. Siliage is strong so a few sprays is more than enough

Delicious. The oud here is very much in the back ground, the Bergamot and the lavender are more on the creamy side and there's no sharpness. The notes i get the most are geranium, ambroxan and patchouli, on my wishlist for sure.

For me levendula and geramium dominates. Nice scent, I awaited something more as a new scent from Widian. Longevity around 8 hrs, sillage medium. I think way overprised.

Cotton candy, saffron, anise, cedarwood, and jasmine. Similar to Liwa except this is sweeter with a greenish hue.
