Gold II Sahara

Widian’s ‘Gold Collection’ is a celebration of precious materials prized across the Arab states. In Gold II Sahara the opulence of saffron and elemi are masterfully worked into an entirely modern composition that perfectly balances subtly with excess. Gold II Sahara opens with the citrusy and slight terpenic edge of elemi combined with a beautifully sweet candied orange coloured crimson by saffron. As the fragrance evolves, the focus shifts onto rose and orange blossom. The rose is dark and syrupy with the sweetness offset against the dusty earthiness of the saffron. The dry-down is characterised by soft musks, cedar, and the resinous sweetness of vanilla while the saffron has developed a noticeable leathery aspect. It is these final stages of Gold II Sahara where the fragrance really shines. All the notes masterfully blended create an aura this is at once enveloping and transparent. Gold II Sahara is opulent, exotic and memorizing. Astier has showcased some of the finest raw materials in perfumery in a way that feels distinctly Arabian, but finessed by traditional French perfumery. Gold II Sahara is a olfactory amalgamation of two separatist fragrances styles, the end result being a composition that is beautifully unique. This is undoubtedly my new reference saffron fragrance and I am obsessed. Performance is phenomenal. I get all day longevity with a moderate sillage throughout. Widian is a house I admire because of the potency of their fragrances but never wears too heavy. It is just the right amount of strong and versatility even when oversprayed. Gold II Sahara is an uplifting and juicy rose, saffron and oud combo that makes me feel opulent and confident. It wears like an aura that emerged out of the skin instead of a perfume sprayed on skin. It is best worn in cold evening. This is the replacement of Widian Gold II that discontinued but with the same notes. #vscentorientreview

I wanted to try Widian perfumes and ordered a sample of this. I think it is such a beautiful perfume perfect for this time of year.. November December, it’s cold here, dark.. sweet saffran is still sophisticated and elegant in this one. I was surprised that I like it. It smelled great on me and on a man. Maybe it wouldn’t be perfect for other time of year to be honest. But currently it’s very comforting for a long evening walk in the city or a evening at a cafe.

This is a master piece:) I only had samples of it and I enjoyed every drop. Hope to purchase a full bottle for the winter season. In the dark and depressing winter months in Sweden it’s so nice to wear such lively, warm, sophisticated perfume.. it’s sweet, complex, deep, but light?. You simply have to try it.

For me this is perfection... I smelld it not knowing what it was and The feeling i got was dessert..plain and simple.. Its warm skin (tha sauna feel) .. Dry saffron and high quality amber, i cant stand not to own this golden epic juice

I could shower myself in this. Absolutely stunning. Definitely unisex to me and the florals aren't feminine. This scent wraps you in sophistication, elegance and mystery. Very happy with my purchase.

Deep, rich, exotic vanilla and amber. Smells expensive and effortlessly sophisticated. Not getting a lot of citrus though. Although it's definitely not a dense, syrupy amber it could be used in the same situations as Grand Soir by MFK, they're not twins but definitely related with Sahara being the fresher and more versatile of the two. Overall a fantastic smooth (somewhat overlooked) fragrance.

This is actually really nice. It's different than anything else I have. Strongly tilts gourmand on me, wish it wasn't quite as sweet. Spicy, smooth, I'm enjoying this sample but do not need a full bottle. Review of spray sample. UPDATE Okay, the dry down is actually reminding me of hotel lobby restroom hand soap. It's really pleasant, I enjoy it, but I don't wanna pay for it.

This one is definitely unique. It's like on the verge of unpleasant, but still not there, and quite pleasant. Like edging that unpleasant boundary. Not exactly medicinal, not exactly metallic, but with notes of both stacked on vanilla. It's interesting to say the least. Actually something I'd wear in the winter. Although debatable based on the price tag. 6.5/10

Guys this has been renamed to just Sahara - Gold II Sahara is no longer purchasable. Try to leave reviews on the Sahara version instead to help others avoid confusion.

I don't know why but this smell reminds me a sauna. I find something attractive in this smell.

I've been wanted to smell this for years and I finally found it in a niche boutique store. This is a vanilla done the Arabian way, as yes, it has a warm vanilla/amber/honeycomb heart but there's still that medicinal high note that soars throughout. So where I was hoping for an exotic rich honied gourmand, I get warm vanilla-amber but with a constant sour screech. The medicinal/metallic note ends up giving me a headache, as I feel like I'm inhaling isopropyl alcohol, which is a shame. I was hoping for richer, deeper and more golden syrupy, when this is actually a lighter wear. Longevity is excellent.

I love This scent so much I am considering flying to London for the day just to pick it up from Harrods. The scent is sweet and smooth that is long lastning and has enchanting smooth desert vibes througout. The sticky elemi, the exotic saffron, The deep warm vanilla and romantic rose has me hooked. Yes it is unisex in the sense of if my man wanted to wear it I might attache my nose to his neck throughout the 8+ hour wear. A Year round scent! I am a gourmande girlie. I haven’t broken in to my oud Phase of life but I want to wear something eternal, rich and creamy, this is the one.

I first bought a bottle of this in 2019, it was made in France and has been my signature scent since. When I finished it I bought a new bottle but this one was made in United Arab Emirates. It smells different. It's still great, I still love it but the first bottle smelled better. I guess maybe it was a little bit sweeter I'm not sure. Performance is great it stays all day on your skin and on fabrics wayyyy longer. And you really don't need much.

This perfume impressed me! Dense, potent, gourmand leaning.. Exotic dessert made with rose water, saffron, honey. The orange blossom here adds a little bublegummy aspect, but in the best way.. as if adding a chewy extra layer of texture. Floral, yet balsamic. The feeling is very special when i wear this one, pure joy. It lacks performance on the other side unlike the other Widians, they're all strong projectors and long lasting but Sahara is not on their usual level. I get maybe 3 hours of moderate projection and it lasts about 6 to 7 hours, even with 5 sprays. It's still my favourite fragrance of the house tho.

Teetering on the edge of gourmand, never quite crossing over. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. That elemi and saffron top note adds a unique sparkle to the orange. The florals make it juicy and sweet that sparkle lingers all the way to that drydown that spells creamy, woody vanilla.

Buttery smooth floral amber. Some initial red fruitiness, green apple, jasmine, dry unsweetened saffron, bready pastry sweetness, vanilla but also greener a bit bitter facets. But overall it's about the very warm, spicy amber. One to overspray if any!

Nothing groundbreaking sadly. On my skin was fairly linear and nothing blew me away about it. A well blended sweet amber.Great longevity and I assume sillage was good, but not for me.

Such a beautifully citrusy yet cozy and sweet fragrance. I find myself wanting to book a flight to Dubai. There’s a level of sophistication that could be associated with wearing this.
