Limited 71 Extreme

Spending the day with the brand new released Widian Limited 71 Extreme, this is my second wearing of the scent, so here are some of my thoughts. First of all, I like you all to know that this was a complete blind buy , but Widian is a house of preference for me, so I kind of knew what I was getting into, and considering the fact that I missed on the opportunity to own the first Limited released back in 2016, I went ahead and reserved a bottle of their newest interpretation of the iconic masterpiece “71”. It is worth mentioning that I had a decent size sample of the original 2016 released and I would like to begin by saying that this is a complete new perfume in my eyes, not a remix, my understanding is that the new 71 utilizes a higher quality oud then it’s predecessor, and in fact, it shows throughout the wearing, but also the layout of the scent is different. The composition unfolds on skin with a sweet bright spicy amber, extremely well harmonized by invigorating citruses, and what feels like a gentle touch of cardamom and saffron, both none listed on the official pyramid, this happens within the first couple of minutes, my thoughts on the introduction of the perfume is that there’s a subtle reference to Liwa, but that’s where the comparison ends. From this point forward the star of the show begins to dominate, “Oud” displaying all of its glory, there’s an overall creaminess to the scent that is fascinating to say the least, but also a hint of barnyard feel , and the many nuances just decorate the composition throughout the wearing, a touch of lavender, a veil of incense paints a mysterious scenario, and just a whisper of vetiver and patchouli enhances the extravagance of the oud and amber duality creating a certain sensuality that is hard to described but undoubtably fascinating. This is a bold composition, the kind of perfume that makes a statement and leaves you with an unforgettable scented memory. Limited 71 Extreme lasts on my skin well over 12 hours with big projection for at least 4 hours.

Absolutely drop dead gorgeous Oriental Fougere that uses amazing high quality potent ingredients and creates a dark smokish woody aura like never before created in perfumery. The perfume opens with fresh aromatic citrusy notes of lavender, sage, incense, dates and bergamot. The dense heart is composed of bay leaf, amber, cashmeran and akigalawood. The perfumes settles into a dense powdery base of oud, patchouli, vetiver and more amber. Tremendous projection and sillage and lasts very long. Masculine leaning. Very sensual and magnetically sexual juice. Enjoy!

Any of the options in the 71 series have my heart, such a brilliant contraption of a scent & a very good complex variant of Oud for Greatness. Yes some folk get whiffs of the Popular BR540, but thats all! The Oud in this adds a much needed complexity to the basic BR540 vibe & thats what makes this a winner for me. Sillage is fabulous & for a limited edition from 2018, its well aged now in 2024 & a total banger when heading out for functions.

Phenomenal fragrance. This is essentially a darker, more resinous and skanky version of Liwa. You definitely get some of the Liwa sweetness, and i also get some tobacco like smoke and some light floral touches that could be rose, but neither note is listed. Outstanding fragrance from Widian, glad i own this limited release as i missed out on Intense.
