Boar

Boar is not just a fragrance; it’s a visceral experience. The opening is sharp, almost industrial, with a vibe that reminds me of fresh paint or lacquer. But don't let that scare you—it settles quickly into something far more profound. Once it develops, it takes a fascinating turn. It reminds me of those powerhouse 'feminine' fragrances from the 70s and 80s—the kind that had absolutely nothing 'girly' about them by today’s standards. They were mossy, earthy, and unapologetically bold. If you’re looking for a crowd-pleaser that aims to please everyone, this is not for you. Boar doesn't seek approval; it commands it. If this scent were a movie, it would be The Terminator. It is exactly what Arnold Schwarzenegger would wear while trekking through a damp, foggy, primeval forest: cold, calculated, and raw. A true underrated masterpiece. Performance: Solid. Sillage: Decent—it announces your presence with authority without being obnoxious. Final thought: 10/10 for the sheer courage of this composition.

This is what I imagine being an arthropod is. The closeness and intimacy with the earth, the soil and all of its megastructures. I love the embrace of these components. Mushroom, I love mushroom so much and this really gets that animalic, indolic, musty quality to it. The question that I have is that to most people these things aren’t naturally something associated with “attraction” in the common sense. But I manage to feel incredibly alluring and desired when wearing this. If you want an earthy, raw and animalic perfume this is a great one to go to without feeling like you’re rolling in the bodily waste of some mystery forest dweller. At least I think so.

I found love when I least expected it. This perfume hypnotised me and I can't stop smelling my wrists. It feels earthy and natural. Like wet soil, moss, dry pine needles that are slowly devoured by forests microbiom. I never have eaten truffles, but I imagine this mushroomy fresh smell is exactly that. There's also something wild and animalic. Reminding me of how my freshly groomed cat smells. Only downside to this perfume is that people I'm surrounded by are not really on my idea of smelling like wild cat. But still I'd be committing to a full bottle. Also in my opinion the name "Lynx" might be more suitable here.

My first WB. Ok, this is what Zoologist have lost in recent times. A picture perfect interpretation of an animal and it's habitat. This fragrance have a sharp and soft round feeling at the same time. Sharpness from geranium and apple painting the tusks. The soft leather and fur note gives the round shape of the boars body. Will probably buy a full bottle after my sample.

My favorite of their line up on paper. Smells wonderful on skin. Very well balanced animalic fragrance. Nice fresh apple opening, that slowly becomes dark and animalic.

I didn;t like it at first, but after a few minutes it became so much better!!! I'm obsessed :v

Thanks to the twists and turns of skin chemistry, my experience with Boar has been significantly different from the previous reviews. The opening was heavy on aromatics, hard to identify but it came off as harsh and spicy, similar to fresh tree sap. Honestly, none of the top notes showed up for me at all. After the screechy start Boar became a decidedly leather-forward fragrance with the aromatics now thankfully turned down, as well as notes of resins and sap. The notes I did get, broadly speaking, were vetiver and some dry woodiness. What I did NOT get was any of that fur, wet earth, truffle, apple, moss, greens nor animalics, at least for the first 3-4 hours. That initial dry leather-heavy drydown leaned quite male and I wasn't a fan. But then something weird happened. A couple of hours in, Boar suddenly started giving me more moss, the leather faded nicely to the background and a wet soil made an appearance, turning it into a pretty classic earthy chypre. So now it smells really similar to late stages of Chypre Mousse drydown or, in some ways, JMP's Mossy Soil, only smoother than either of them ever performed on me. Seven (yes, really) hours in Boar is legit the best chypre drydown I've smelled so far. I'm so confused. This was an official Wolf Brothers brand sample so no fluke.

Really loamy, mossy, photorealistic forest floor scent, with a bit of metallic-ness from the mushrooms hiding in the background. The apple wasn't too strong on me: it's a very tart cooking apple or crabapple, but it blends well with the moss and pine. The animalic notes gets a bit overwhelmed by the greens, on my skin. I have to really go looking for it, which is a shame. I still really enjoy this though. Makes me smell like I fell asleep in the woods

So I'm not that anxious one, but when I did sprayed this at my wrist, I did let out a cough mixed with some wannabe throwup. THAT instantly went away, and I was left with some piney, mossy,vetiver green scent. Sometimes ( literally no reason just it happens) I smell the animalistic line with the apple, and it's hella pleasent. Overall a nice aromatic scent, would recommend to try.

This smells like a protective mother boar in the depths of the woods. It has an intense animalic heat to it, accompanied by deep earthy greens and a tiny waft of overripe apple. Intimidating in the best way. Hair raising, adrenaline inducing animalic, yet very wearable. Animalic lovers this is not the dirtiest animalic, but does have that signature heat that Wolf Brothers brings.

to me, this is definitely the most unisex of the wolf brothers scents, since it has that signature musk (i got a similar realistic animal-y vibe as goat with this one) but also that appley sweetness. together it smells like a sweet cologne. very earthy and green as you go along, more of a green/musky/slightly sweet dry down for me. something about that sharpness in the midst of the musk for some reason is really nauseating me today, but i liked it yesterday so idk what happened! sad

Boar opens with a clear, bright apple scent, not too sweet, which quickly turns green. The green scent seems to be a mix of leafy vegetation along with the apple. The dirty notes start to show up resulting in an earthy green leather fragrance. The wood, leather and fur give the fragrance the dirty, slightly animalic touch, with the leather being dominant. No discernible fur smell to my nose. Reminds me a little bit of Carve On which is a dupe of Irish Leather - dirty green leather. Don't care for this type of scent. Longevity was pretty good while projection was moderate.

I don't think this one is for me.The apple note in the opening makes me feel a bit sick, and though the intensity of that initial blast fades quickly, a hint of it hangs around, clashing with the musk and throwing me off. I feel like I can't focus on the other notes as the sharp apple is overwhelming to my nose.

Pretty much nothing to add to Smirky's review below except that I do wind up enjoying this one. Like he said, opens with a greenish apple scent that gradually blends into a more vegetal green smell while the apple remains, then the leather and earth start to appear. It very much gives me a Zoologist vibe both conceptually (a smell to evoke the titular animal's habitat) and in wearability + performance. You could almost even say as a brand they are pretty derivative of Zoologist in concept and execution, but this at least doesn't smell like any specific thing Victor's done so I'm not mad about it.

Smells like a light green incense at first cause of the apple note that is well blended. Really nice easy to wear manly fresh spring fragrance, after the top notes are gone it smells like dust and leather hid underneath. Performance is pretty good 6hrs with good projecion, value to price is a mild 7/10

This smells like a wild animal in the forest. I am simultaneously attracted and repulsed. I alternately get fresh piney notes and heavy barnlike animal sweat. I love it for its weirdness and complexity but I’m not sure I’d want to smell like this around other people. This may be a home scent only.
