Wisent

What an odd one this is! I expected Wisent (aka European Buffalo) to be very green and sharp, maybe even a little funky because herbivores can smell... well, like cows do, haha. But no, this takes a very different and exciting turn. The hay definitely is a centerpiece here. It's very green, slightly animalic because of the greenness. This kind of reminds me of Profumum Roma's Ichnusa (for the very hay-forward note) although Wisent goes on a tangent here and has a very creamy, nutty and vanillic roundness that cuts through the green and gives it a very cozy vibe. That's a good way to describe Wisent to me: cozy. On my skin, like all of Wolf Brothers' fragrances (except for Wolf), this warms up crazy well and becomes very enveloping and kind of soothing, almost! It's so weird it shouldn't work on paper but it does. It does work a lot better on my skin than on strip, though (my skin tends to brighten that typical Wolf Brothers musky vibe). It's got surprising decent longevity, too. I get a good 5-6 hours with the first hour being decent arm-length projection but like most other WB fragrances, I think this is not made to project or fill a room. I feel that WB's work is very shamanic in nature, in that the perfumes compliment your own natural smell and feel meditative rather than be something you wear for others to enjoy. Like with Deer, I got quite a few inquisitive comments when people came to my office. I'll definitely be wearing this one through the colder Spring days and once Fall rolls back in. Another very interesting, unusual offering from the Wolf Brothers!

This perfume confused me alot. Through the day I got from hating to loving it. At first juniper hits me as a brick in a face. It's tangy, sharp and really bold. Then it changes drastically. After a couple of hours it smells like a warm sunny forest. Evergreen trees, berry bushes, warm grass, blackcurrant leaf. It develops slowly and the story it tells is exciting. As if you're waking up under a juniper bush and wander through the green summer forest. If you don't like it at first I definitely recommend to wear it for a few hours and see how it goes.

I got all samples from wolf brothers so far, some were ok (wolf, bear), some were terrible (boar, dear lord, what was that), some were bizzare (goat), and much to my surprise, i ended up with wisent. I would not consider myself a "green" note enthusiast, i always thought that im more noir/oud/amber/smoky guy, but there was something in that scent that i just could not get enough of. It's vibrant, open, sunny, the hay/acorn/grapefruit is a mix i would never thought it can work, but, boy, it does. Highly recommend.

Wolf Brothers perfumes has a really unique way to express its environmental story telling with each scent. Wisent for example vividly describes the airy meadows and open countries where the bison roam. It is a fluffy tea like scent, it’s peaceful and natural, you can really pickup rain touched grass, lemongrass, some sweet berry notes and a grainy flavour. Very beautiful fragrance, one of the more tranquil perfumes from the brand highly recommend.

This is such a strange fragrance but I really love it. I smell sweet hay, nutty acorns and dry vanilla, a wisp of woodsmoke and a hint of something animalic that reminds me of huffing the warm coat of a slightly musky animal. This is so much better than the notes would lead you to believe. Warm and comforting and evocative, a musky, outdoorsy vanilla. I can't get enough of it!

It's a very environmental (literally) fragrance, it evokes strong outdoors imagery. I love it personally. Gets even better with the drydown. Citrus(?) is a touch strong at the start but it ends up blending excellently.

It's not for everyone scents,but very unique and natural/wild... Overall: unique fragrance for unique personality :)

It starts with a burst of green leaves of mostly blackberry but also blackcurrant. Grass is also there to round the sharp smell of leaves, but I feel like it does not compliment them that well. The green components fade quite fast revealing a nutty and vanillic smell which I assume is the acorn. In these later phases I also get something resembling smoky leather in the background. Overall it is a nice perfume.

i DESPERATELY wanted to like this one. when i initially smelt it sprayed, it was so perfectly wild and untameable, the hay came through so well. i bought 2 different samples on different occasions. the first one i sprayed the entire 2 ml on myself and when i returned after 4 hours couldn’t smell a thing. i thought it must be an error and bought another and monitored it at every hour. at just 20 minutes on my skin, all of the blackcurrant, grass, and grapefruit was gone. what’s left is this one-note vanilla that is not representative of the initial animal i was presented with. it becomes boring! at 3 hours, the scent was completely gone. if you’re going to make a wild animal, make it WILD! i want to smell an animal that’s back kicked its owner into a spinal injury. don’t be a coward!

There’s a sort of rustic straw-like familiarity here, combined with vanilla. It’s hard to call it unpleasant, but above all, it feels like a bland search for preschool-level chord combinations — this isn’t perfumery as an art. I don’t think the niche segment should be about mixing supposedly incompatible accords by trial and error, hoping for luck. If niche is to be something stronger than mainstream drugstore fragrances, it should break free from the chains of pandering to tourists and instead challenge the strongest offerings of drugstore classics like Azzaro, Kouros, or Polo. It should be a Tom Ford from his best days, a Chanel that still had its compass, and the like.

sweet, musky, and a little dirty. which i mean in a very literal way. wisent has a gentler version of that wolf brothers musk, which blends very well with the vanilla to the point where the two are connected in my mind. this overtop a very earthy planty smell. the grapefruit note threw me for a loop honestly, i don't like the way it clashes with the vanilla, and if i get too close, it's a bit sickening, like hot car leather (although maybe some people like that smell?). does that make sense? it doesn't stink or anything though. i think this one is gentle enough to be perfectly pleasant in general, and the sweetness is nice for like a passing smell

Wisent was pretty linear for me - not much development with the same scent from start to finish. And, that scent was pretty awful - sort of a musty, stale and creamy synthetic laundry detergent scent. I got zero hay or grassy notes out of it. Strange, because Rhinoceros (2020), for example, has a clear grassy note even though there are many other notes in its fragrance pyramid. Wisent is just plain awful. Not bad enough to be a scrubber but certainly not anything I want to smell like. Performance was moderate as was the sillage.

something is off about this scent and the black currant leaves might be responsible for it. every "wild" or green note gets overpowered by a synthetic, fruity-floral accord (reminiscent to play doh) that just doesn't seem to fade away for me. if i had to pick an animal to go with this perfume, i'd probably choose the wild hamster. quite strange, and not particularly pleasant.

This is the first perfume in my life that I can honestly say does not smell nice. It’s different, original, interesting, and intriguing—it provokes thoughts and emotions, but it’s definitely not nice. It smells like hay, but not dry barn hay. It’s more like hay that’s been lying outside for a few days, with something sweet—maybe vanilla—and perhaps acorn or wet bark, which makes it worse. I also detect something slightly minty. I would rename this perfume to "EARWIG" and let it stay hidden under a rock in the middle of the garden after just a quick peek. Goat from Wolf Brothers smells bad too, but its animalistic character might be charming to some eccentric individuals. But this perfume... The only purpose for it is if you need to be alone for a while (about 6-8 hours on my skin after 3 sprays with decent projection).

Sorry, but I have to strongly disagree with the review beneath me. Nothing about this smells even remotely close to laundry detergent ((Wtf)) and that is SUCH a far off assessment. It smells like straight up vanilla hay with an acorn in the background. Oh, and the hay note is VERY present and easily recognizable as hay through the dry down. I get that scent is subjective but just no. Fuck no. Performance is actually above moderate but not beast mode. Sillage radiates beyond arms length according to a few compliments from other people that were at least 3 feet away. Wisent is one of the few scents that literally transport me to another land. It smells foreign and not of America. This is not a barnyard in Kansas. It's more like passing through grassy European farmland with smashed up fragrant acorns all around the trail. Bison grass is a note listed on the website and is described as a vanilla scented sweet grass that the Wisent (European Bison) like to chew on and eat. The grapefruit, black current & blackberry leaves are not felt here and blended into the grassy vanilla hay. The acorn is done so well here, my goodness. It doesn't smell like any other nut and I instantly knew this was the smell of acorn, a note that is not used often in perfumery. This gives the whole composition an almost woody vibe and blends soooooo well with the vanilla hay. I would consider this a rustic green smell as opposed to bright and leafy greens. You won't find this in department stores cause it's very niche and not a designer type fragrance, but it's truly magical.

Vanilla, coarse cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, coffee, leather, patchouli, green tomatoes, dewy grass and lightly urinous notes. This is such a weird composition, but it's truly special and quite likeable. It has a fuzzy fur type of texture and warmth behind the actual notes with a green freshness lifting up all the brown hues.

For me this is like imagine if a basic boy you might thing has nothing interesting to say suddenly shows you his real personality, idk I kinda like it but I need to try it for longer
