Wolf Extrait de Parfum

This is an incredible, daring, complex fragrance. The opening is intense, and it just gets better and better in the dry down. Definitely a dark, mysterious, powerful scent for masculine, wild, rebellious guys who just DGAF. I’m loving everything from Wolf Brothers. The only complaint I have is the atomizers on this particular fragrance don’t seem to spray easily. Not sure why, maybe because of the high oil concentration? The fragrance is well priced so it’s a trade off I’ll accept any day. I prefer their other fragrance, “Bear,” over this one (Wolf Extrait De Parfum). But only slightly. And this one projects more and has better longevity. This is a fragrance I would keep in my collection forever. There’s nothing else quite like it. It’s a power move.

Opens with a cardamom that has its traits strengthened by the clary sage, plum, and red pepper, but then the fir becomes the most forward, with a clary sage bias that has a faint smoky edge. It also has some woodsy aspects with sweet resins (amber + tonka + myrrh) to support the fir forward accord. Personally, I’m not getting a whole lot of pine from this—Mississippi Medicine by DSDurga nails this pine impression down to a tee. There is a bit of oakmoss in here, but it’s not particularly forward at all, but more of as a general profile support. Overall a refined fir that has a sweet, resinous, woodsy twist to it, but since I’m not big on woodsy frags, I’m indifferent of this frag.

I realized I accidentally put my review of Wolf extrait on the EDP so I'm moving it over here: It's less like wolves on the prowl and more like being in a wolf den during nursing time-- there's a bed of pine needles and a furry, lactonic musk. I wish the forest smells were sharper and that the spices stayed around for longer--ultimately it's like the slightly weirder version of a clean, wearable-for-work scent. I agree with other reviews that this seems safer than the rest of the house would suggest.
