Lavender

Unfortunately, the contemporary version of this perfume lasts under an hour. It's really unfortunate, because it's a really lovely lavender, with a touch of chamomile and a hint of sweetness and musk. But it makes a nice perfume for before bed, or for a room spray.

Classic and perfect. Not too sweet, not too powdery, just a fresh, natural-smelling lavender. Priced well, lasts well. My favorite lavender perfume, I have not found another I like as much.

I have the vintage. It goes on a huge blast of lavender. Very strong and lovely. Quickly dries down to a powdery and soapy amber skin scent.

I have been wearing this and spraying in my room while at college abroad and it will always remind me that period. I used it to cover cigarette smoke, but the final effetc was lovely clean English Lavender AND cigarette smoke! This is classic English Lavender with a good sillage and in spite of having a monoflore effect it is also complimented by other balmy notes. You really need to like classic lavender or you'll have no escape door. Like running in Northern fields! Great staying power.

Its a lovely (mono) scent, nothing except for lavender. But longevity is almost non-existent. I like it anyway.

Fragrance Review For Lavender By Woods of Windsor Notes Lavender Rosemary Amber Vanilla If you like a simple lavender scent, this is a good choice. It's affordable so it won't cost you an arm and a leg, and it does not smell cheap or badly made either. It has a lot in common with fragrances like Old English Lavender. This is a room spray and not really much of a fragrance for you to wear on your skin. It's an aromatic floral spray to scent your house with. So if you like floral scents in your home and especially a magic lavender, this is really very nice. The rosemary note is what I detected first. It is mingling with the dominant lavender because frankly both scents are spicy-floral and bucolic. These aromas transport you to the countryside. It's a trip to the woods, to Provence, where rosemary, sage and lavender abound. The south of France comes to mind with fields and fields of lavender. The lavender here is very true to real lavender but don't dismiss it as "one lavender smells like any other lavender" or lavender scented hand soap type of lavender. It's true that it doesn't have much projection or silage, and the longevity could be better but all you need do is reapply and keep spraying in your home. I suppose this is good for masking odors that pop up in your home if you have pets including litter smells or if you are cooking and the scent of what you cooked lingers or flies into other parts of the house. The lavender is lovely. So is the rosemary. This is a beautiful pairing of lavender and rosemary, as pretty as I've come across in my fragrance adventures. The scent does develop quickly and you can make out a scent of vanilla and amber. The amber is not very big, like they put in a drop of amber, and the vanilla is powdery and fleeting. Beautiful rosemary and lavender floral pastoral smells to whisk you away, if for a moment, to the country. For a city girl like me from Brooklyn/Manhattan, this is a pleasant journey into the woods, a journey my nose takes. Recommended for spring and summer for your home as air freshener and or to scent your sheets/bed with before bed. It will induce good dreams.

I believe the notes listed here on Fragrantica, namely rosemary, amber, lavender and vanilla, are partially incorrect. As rainbow.owl2 posted, the Woods of Windsor website states that the note pyramid is as follows: "Top notes: Mandarin, Eucalyptus, Middle notes: Lavender, Lavandin, Base notes: Neroli, Chamomile." They also describe this scent as a "classic scent, the fresh green notes of the beautiful Lavender flower have been combined with notes of patchouli, musk and chamomile." So I'm not sure what to say, perhaps it's all of these. I just ordered some so I'll post a follow-up after I test it out. UPDATE: I've had a bottle of this for nearly 2 years. The particular lavender note(s) here is quite camphorous and invigorating, so even with the chamomile (which is a natural herb sleepytime tea), I would say this steers to the more "bright, awake and alert" side of the lavender scent spectrum, as opposed to the more "sleepy, ready for bed" side.

It is a lovely nearly one dimensional, natural smelling lavender with a tiny bit vanilla and minimum-amber in the drydown - must have been a treat in the 70s after all the hippy-patchouly ;) The staying power is really decent, too - 4 hrs... on clothes even longer. Considering the price - even if it isn't sth you would wear - to put it on your pillow works too! For all lavender lovers: Highly recommended!

As a lover of lavender, this was one of the very first lavender fragrances that I discovered about 15 years ago. It is a simple pleasant somewhat soft aromatic lavender fragrance. I classify it with my after bath splashes because it is light, refreshing,sweet and clean.

About the conflicting notes issue: is it possible that the variance is due to the different editions, edt and pdt? I'm interested in getting the pdt - can anyone advise me about the longevity of that version?

according to the website top notes are eucalyptus & mandarin; heart notes are lavender & lavandin; base notes are neroli & chammomile.
