Alexandria II Anniversary

To give you an idea of what this fragrance smells like, I’ll try to compare it with Alexandria II and also their oud accords. Take Alexandria II, remove that apple-like and slightly fresh opening, add cumin instead, intensify its civet-like warmth and cardamom feel, and reduce the lavender dose. Although Alexandria II also contains cardamom, its dose is much lower than in the Anniversary version. Other aspects of Alexandria II’s opening are still present, such as rosewood (but in much lower dosage in the Anniversary edition), and oud (the Anniversary edition uses Borneo oud, which smells more like toasted wood—as if the oud were slightly burned. Along with that toasted note, you also get hints of dry hay. The same oud was used in Bortnikoff’s Oud Maximus. In contrast, the oud in the regular Alexandria II smells more woody-musky, with faint acetone-gasoline nuances, and to me, less animalic than the Anniversary version). Also present are lavender and a sweet dark note. So what’s the difference? The Anniversary opens warmer and more animalic, with a slight spicy character from cardamom and cumin. The added cumin, stronger civet, and different oud type give it a more animalic and warm feel. If Alexandria II opens woody, aromatic (more lavender), slightly fruity (apple), sweet, and musky—then the Anniversary is more animalic, oud-heavy, spicy, warm, musky, and sweet. Personally, I much prefer the opening of the Anniversary version because it feels warmer, more animalic, and the oud suits my taste better. Its opening also somewhat reminds me of Xerjoff Luxor. (Overall around 60% similarity to the regular version, in my opinion comparing anniversary to alexandria ii). After about three hours, Alexandria II and the Anniversary become very similar: that same velvety musky feel with vanilla, lavender, patchouli, and sandalwood. However, the same issue I had with Alexandria II remains: although the oud concentration seems higher in the Anniversary, it’s still too low for the price. Within three hours the oud practically disappears, and after that I have to press my nose to my skin to detect any trace. Honestly, before you can fully enjoy the oud note, it has already evaporated, What remains is mostly sandalwood, patchouli, some synthetic musky accords, and synthetic vanilla. Still, the blend is addictive and pleasant, with high-quality ingredients. Xerjoff also added iris in the heart, and if I really force myself, maybe I can imagine a faint earthy orris nuance at the start—but it vanishes quickly, just like the oud. In the heart, the animalic impression is still there (thanks to the different oud, stronger civet, and cumin), though weaker than in the opening (around 70% similarity to the regular version in the heart). In the drydown, you get that velvety, woody base (sandalwood plus a synthetic sandalwood accord to enhance the velvet feel), musky accords, vanilla, tonka, patchouli, and cypriol (both reinforcing the oud character). It’s very similar to the regular version, maybe slightly less fresh/aromatic (due to less lavender, a bit more animalic tone, or less ambroxan). I also detect a faint green-grassy touch in very low dosage (similar to Alexandria III). (Over 80% similarity to the regular version in the drydown). Longevity of both versions is outstanding—just one spray lasts up to three days on my skin faintly, with excellent projection during the first 8–12 hours. So realistically, you’d never be able to finish more than 10ml of this fragrance in your lifetime, especially if you own many perfumes. In terms of mass appeal, I’ve never shown the regular version to anyone who didn’t fall in love with it. Surprisingly, even this more animalic Anniversary version is still very mass-appealing and safe, everyone I’ve shown it to loved it, which I honestly didn’t expect. It shows Xerjoff clearly tests their fragrances extensively before release to ensure wide appeal and sales. If you liked the regular Alexandria II, don’t miss the chance to try this one. The oud here—though limited in dose—is very high-quality and valuable, comparable to artisanal and rare perfumes. And considering reformulations might reduce it even further (as happened with Alexandria II and ceylon), I’d recommend testing it before it’s too late.

I’ve had this in my collection for almost a year and kept postponing the review because it honestly left me a little speechless, too awe-inspiring to rush. This is the one I’ll remember Xerjoff by. In my opinion, it is the house’s statement piece and the best scent in their lineup. It is incredibly complex and unapologetically sophisticated. Worn in the wrong setting, it can read as loud or in poor taste, but in the right moment it is backup-bottle worthy. It feels opulent, fresh, and heavy at the same time. A gentle soapiness from the lavender runs through it, and the whole structure comes across as masculine yet beautiful. One spray goes a long way. Do not spray on clothes. This stuff is strong. The profile opens with Bulgarian rose, cumin, cardamom, and lavender, then moves into a dense heart built around Bornean Tarakan oud with orris, wormwood, clary sage, mint, cypriol, amber, and a measured animalic touch of civet. It settles into sandalwood, vanilla, and musk. The oud reads polished rather than barnyard. I own 400+ perfumes, and many echo each other. Alexandria II Anniversary is the outlier, original and unmatched. There is an addictive quality here that keeps me sniffing my wrist. It is classy yet modern, and I can’t think of anything quite like it. I haven’t tried the original Alexandria II, so I can’t speak to how this compares. Performance is formidable and the character is grand, which is why I see it as late-autumn and winter wear, best for formal or night settings and for noses that already enjoy challenging ouds. Not an entry-level niche choice; this sits at the bold end, made for connoisseurs. It feels like a love letter to perfume lovers all over the world. 🤍

Unlike other people stating here that it is more a winter fragrance I went out and wore it on a warm summer day to test this masterpiece, here is my review based on my experience. Wearing Alexandria Anniversary in the summer heat feels like conducting an orchestra of scents where oud takes center stage, projecting its bold and regal presence with unmatched elegance. The warmth amplifies its richness, unveiling a sweetness that dances effortlessly between luxurious depth and a vibrant, sunlit joy. The sillage is absolutely enormous in the warmth of the sun making heads turn when you walk by. As the day unfolds, the fragrance transforms, like a golden sunset blending vivid hues of sweetness and smoky sophistication. It wraps you in an aura that commands attention, leaving a trail of opulence and refined charm. Each note seems to play its role flawlessly, creating a harmony that feels both timeless and modern. Alexandria Anniversary is more than a fragrance, it’s an experience, a statement piece that bridges the gap between the grandeur of tradition and the playful spirit of summer. The numbers for performance speak for themselves, it sticks to your skin like a mosquito on a warm summer day and will not leave your side for atleast a day. In conclusion I'd say this is a gorgeous summer scent if you want to be bold and are not afraid of being "loud". For me it's a safe blind buy but civet is not for everyone I've heard so as always test before you buy the full bottle. 10/10

Let me start by saying this is soooo not in my wheelhouse.. if you click on my profile and check my faves, you'll understand... That having been said, I am absolutely blown away by this BEAUTIFUL perfume.... I'm not an oud afficionado but I've never experienced oud quite like this one... And I LOVE animalic fragrances and believe me when I tell you this is ANIMALIC... But not in a "rude" way... And the vanilla in this reeks of quality and somehow has ZERO sweetness (in a good way) but yet adds this mesmerizing beauty to the drydown (which happens sometime tomorrow, in case you're wondering about performance).... It's aromatic/fresh/herbal... It's animalic and funky and slightly medicinal.... It's powdery from orris.... Smooth and almost creamy from sandalwood and vanilla... Even reading my own description doesn't explain this at all... You've GOT to get a sample or decant or find a way to try it on... This has to be the least blind-buy safe fragrance I’ve ever experienced... Wearing this is like taking a journey... Honestly it's absolutely unlike any other fragrance I've ever tried and I'm enjoying every trip I take, and NO TWO WEARINGS have been identical, but in the best way you can imagine...!! I urge ANYONE to try this JUST IN CASE you didn't know you needed it... I LOVE this perfume.

I'm a huge fan of the original Alexandria II (The fragrance that bears my name!), but this anniversary edition takes it to a new level. I love it so much I sold my bottle of the original just to replace it with the Anniversary. Yes, I do find there to be a significant difference between the two. Anniversary is a bit more animalic, but there's also something lingering in the background, almost something slightly refreshing, almost aquatic, probably from the sage and mint. There's a more niche and exotic edge to the Anniversary edition. It's more refined and less stuffy than the original (despite having a pretty prominent civet note). I honestly find this to be unisex, not sure why more ladies aren't rocking this. It's probably worth noting this type of fragrance isn't for everyone, perhaps more for those who are looking to be taken on a journey in their fragrance application.

I love Alexandria II, and this version is both a celebration of this icon of perfumery and a reinforcement of it. The Anniversary version is sharper, spicier, incredibly striking, with a creamy and enveloping base. It has something strong, slightly animalic, while maintaining its elegance intact. Like Alexander the Great, one of the greatest of all time, who strides regally on his horse Bucephalus, savoring the scent of victory. “Battle of Issus between Alexander and Darius” , a splendid mosaic found in Pompeii.

This has to be my favorite of the many Xerjoff/ Casemorati fragrances I have. Oddly, I was today years old when I realized this isn't Alex II, but the Anniversary Edition. I had a sample of A2 and had to have it. I think my dear husband who isn't really into niche got me this instead and I was so excited I just started spraying. It's been about a year, so I'm not sure, but it is macerated into its absolute prime and we both wear it. It's such a beautiful woody, powdery, spicy animalic concoction. It's a warm,deep, complex scent, it's serious and blended to perfection, totally worthy of the house. I do not regret the mixup or whatever it was,was meant to be.

This is some dope shit. It's addictive, hypnotic, regal, sensual and multi dimensional. I usually love dark mysterious fragrances and got this 2 days back so don't really know what all things my nose is picking as of now but opening is slightly flowery and spicy. It smells rich from the start. After 30mins or so it becomes really complex and starts becoming oudy, animalic and little of flower aspect is still there. After 4 hours or so it's slight sweet and sandalwood and musk is what I get. 5-6 sprays you will get a good sillage and projection for around 3 hours. Longevity on skin is 10 hours or so. Scent profile - 9/10 performance - 9.5/10 sillage - 9.5/10

I waited to write this review until I could secure a backup 100ml bottle. I have the OG Alexandria 2 and the Anniversary edition already. Fragrancebuy just lowered their prices to 299 if you use a 10% off, it's 270. This is sweeter more powdery than the OG. People say this is animalic and they are right, but so is the OG. The OG is darker and more resinous. Who knows when they will stop making this edition. I hate the barnyard oud smell and I would say this has none of that. This is a masterpiece of perfumery. I'm glad I have 2 bottles top last me the rest of my life.

I've had both and honestly the Anniversary edition is more special occasion than the OG, It has so much more depth and warmth to it. It is definitely a crisp suit and tie perfume. I wore it for a fancy night out and it definitely was a hit amongst the peers. It exudes sophistication and is chameleon of a scent that changes it's profile by the hour. I would definitely say this is the best so far in my collection. Iconic to say the least, wonderful. 9.5/10

Not gonna lie I thought this would be more of a flanker than it is. To my nose this is almost identical to A2 but without the sharp green apple note. It’s maybe a little less powdery and a bit more sweet. It seems to project a little better too. The Oud is nearly identical too just a little smoother. So overall it’s still incredible as is A2. But it’s more or less just a softer more rounded version of A2.

Not for biggners, not for everyone, it’s very complex deep perfume only for the people who enjoy niche fragrances.. it opens so harsh then settles on a smooth oud animatic and sweet notes, at the beginning you’ll smell a stong Cambodian oud then fades out and settles well. If you’re not into oud fragrances then it’s not for you! Smells classy and rich. Overall is 9.5/10

You need to get past the opening on this fragrance to fall in love with it. The opening is terrible and I'm confident to believe that's where the bad reviews come from. Get past 20 minutes of it and it envelopes into something cozy, warm and delicious. Very much a winter scent to cozy up to. If I had the budget, I'd buy a bottle.

I got a sample of this from the Xerjoff store in Milan and my buddy I was traveling with did 2 sprays and I could smell the trail. It was so good I have the original and it smells e little sweeter. i really want a full bottle it just sucks it costs so much.

Wow. This is amazing. A II is one of my favourite fragrances of all time -- yet, this is somehow even better. The perfumer did a fantastic job, managing to add even more complexity and depth to a fragrance I already considered a masterpiece.

This is just not leave your skin/clothes. I just spried once on my shirt, after 4 days, i wear the same shirt my body just took the scent again, this is insane.

Perfumery at its best more polished and well rounded version of Alexandria II I prefer this over Alexandria II well worth it!

I didn’t have any expectations for this new release but I didn’t think it would be anything so special either. Interestingly, contrary to the opinions of many others, in my opinion, this version is more reminiscent of A III than A II. Notes of Rose and Lavender appear stronger than the other notes in the opening and in the middle, as they do in A III. Anniversary is like a weaker (not diluted though) and more wearable version of III and it can be over sprayed easily without being suffocating. Oud and the woody notes appear more like in A II since those are not so strong than in A III. If I'm thinking the different accords you can find more similarities with A III than with A II. This didn’t steal my heart as A III develops pretty much into this one within a few hours and it’s more unique but if you prefer a tamed version this may be for you. Now that I’ve tried the Alexandria Triad (besides Orientale and Imperial), I can confidently say that Alexandria II is the best of the three. They all share the same DNA but with slight changes and alterations. This one is definitely an aquired taste, the opening reminds me of sweaty balls then settles into the regular Alexandria powdery woods DNA. Overall to me it's mass pleasing nothing daring (having Oud,Cypriol,Animalic in notes as they are very very tamed to me at least). It's smooth , high on cardamom , lavender for mass appeal may be the orris / lavender is giving aromatic/slightly creamy-powdery vibe while sandalwood is adding woodiness. To me It's a high end designer , may be a beginner's niche specially for those are willing to dive into aromatics with little darker stuff/nuances. Caution: Not for OUD lovers

I enjoyed the classic Alexandria II, so I was curious to see how this interpretation would perform. The fragrance opens with rose and spices, but almost immediately oud and a pronounced animalic note take centre stage, making the composition feel slightly overwhelming. As it develops, the scent becomes more powdery and a hint of amber starts to emerge in the background, although the animalic facet remains noticeable throughout. What I enjoy most is the woody, musky base with a touch of unsweetened vanilla. Longevity is at least eight hours, with good projection. It’s a well blended, decidedly winter fragrance, best suited to those who appreciate bold, almost primal, animalic accords.

A more intensely oud-based formulation compared to the classic Alexandria II, but I don't think the differences are that significant. If you're not a collector, I don't think bottling it is necessary.

Uniqueness is off the charts on this one. I don't know what to feel about it. It can be said that it is very high quality and kind of addicting in a way, it makes you want to smell it more and try to understand it. A bit like an art that you don't understand. I must say, I generally dislike oud on my skin and this smells like manure too due to the civet note I believe. But it still makes you curious about it. Can't love, can't hate, I don't know.

Many people sold it to me as the best Xerjoff and given the price I was expecting something great. I found the first notes super unpleasant, like an old low quality scotch. After the dry up, it was even worse, for me this fragrance smells like smoke, cold tobacco. I prefer Naxos 1000 times over.

As the fragrance develops, the floral heart, infused with spices and warmth, is meant to create depth, but I feel it becomes too intense and heavy for my liking. The dry-down introduces a rich base of amber, sandalwood, and vanilla, which adds to the fragrance's longevity. However, this opulence contributes to an overall scent profile that feels overwhelming rather than refreshing. I prefer fragrances that are lighter and more subtle, and Alexandria II's bold presence is simply not to my taste. In conclusion, while Alexandria II is undoubtedly well-crafted and beloved by many, the combination of sweetness and intensity in its scent does not resonate with me. The smell is simply not appealing to my personal preferences, making it a fragrance I would choose to avoid.

My God, No. This fragrance is just awful. I have almost 200 fragrances and Alexandria II Anniversary is the second worst one I've tried (Masque Milano Terralba being the worst). Imagine a men's restroom of a college bar, where every dude has pissed or dribbled all over the floor and someone took a dump in one of the stalls about 10 minutes before you walked in. That is exactly what Anniversary smells like: Urine, a lingering faint fecal smell, softened only slightly by the scent of industrial handsoap and bleach from the night before when the staff tried to clean the floors. As it enters the mid, it smells like a used baby's diaper: poop, piss and slight baby powder. I would not wear this in public, for fear that those around me would wonder if I crapped my pants. I'm very surprised because I'm a big fan of Xerjoff and have several of their bottles, but this one is absolutely atrocious on me. I have no idea how my reaction to it is vastly different from others below.

Very strong animalic fecal opening that triggered a primal response in my brain to get away from the testing paper strip as fast as I caught a whiff, I couldn't imagine a "Fragrance" smelling this bad in my life I went in completely blind with no idea what to expect of this fragrance You will definitely smell like you're covered with animal feces and urine wearing this

Its cool...not bad by any stretch if youre familiar with oud..However I still prefer Alexandria Orientale. I prefer its beefier, more masculine presence.. Anniversary Edition is much more palatable and mass appealing than Orientale, but its also just a little less interesting to my nose. The coriander and tobacco in orientale gives it a sexy spice and also a mellow masculinity that I dont quite get from Anniversary Edition, which in contrast to Orientale, plays it much more safe (or at least as safe as one can play with an oud accord) by having a sort of mild soapy politeness to it - thanks to the lavender. I prefer the smooth coriander spice of Orientale over the prickly cumin note in Anniversary Edition. But I find the oud in Anniversary to be a pretty docile oud compared to Orientale. Neither are putrid to my nose, but Orientale's oud is a little more pungent and present, whereas the oud in Anniversary really just smells like an offshoot of all the other notes blended in together somehow and its in no way assaultive to the senses. Anniversary almost smells like a sanitized version of Orientale. Both beautiful scents though.

I’m wearing a sample of this today & I find it to be so much like both II & III which I really do like, But have been telling myself to not get II account to many weak batch variations being pushed out & I’m thru gambling & making purchase mistakes if I can help it! The barnyard poop, Unbearable animalic talk is plain obsurd to me. The powdery aspect is bumped up giving me the vibes of III, But II is powdery as well almost giving me those baby wipe vibes. And to me it just seems like a more potent with ever so slightly twerks of Alexandria II. I was really close to purchasing III But will be getting a tester if this instead on acct it’s 100ml & who knows when this one will start getting weak batches..In the long run of wear around the 6 hour mark. This was by no means beast in projection as far as I could tell on myself.Classy, Sexy, Attention grabbing I would think. Not much difference than the original II..Worth it I feel if not paying full retail!

Alexandria II Anniversary, by Xerjoff, smells like a mix between the natural Cambodian oudh and a very animalic oudh, with lavender, mint, smoke and ash. Personally, I can not wear anything animalic, therefore, a Cambodian and animalic oudh is out of the charts for me. The oudh in this fragrance smells like the classic oudh smell we all know, plus feta cheese, plus body odor or a stinky animal. Again, it is a smell that is often found in animalic and Arabic fragrances, but it is not for me. I also do not like mint in a perfume, and Alexandria II Anniversary is pretty minty. Even though this fragrance does not suit me, if this is what you are looking for, give it a try.

I have tried the Aniversery multiple times & it’s hard to dissect all of them especially II & II Aniversery other than the green apple accord & II would prob be my favorite if there wasn't weak bottles scattered all over the place, And don’t have time to investigate batch numbers! I feel like I own the best of the three & will probably go for III, Seeing to me it seems slightly more pungent, In a good way & slightly the more unique of the four of them, But all could change being the price on this one has dropped and III only comes in 50ml bottles...All in all clean powdery ever so slightly animalic! great blend!! I really like it!!

Cumin and Oud overload, the poor rose has been muddied and buried under a ton of harsh agrestic, poopy, animalic notes. Horrible. All that freaking cumin and oud! no way...why do people lie saying this is glorious? influencers from hell. I regret spending money in this sample. Now have to wash my wrist. Update: I didn't wash it. It evolved into a nice, smooth incense and rose scent, the rose note was able to come back from her grave. The Oud and cumin dissipated and the scent felt cleaner, and pleasant. Unfortunately at that stage it was just a skin scent. Still not worth the efforts to endure the skanky opening...

Tried this from a tester and it lasted well over 18 hours, and projected for over 6 hours. Got a full bottle and it seems much weaker. Im wondering if it's gonna get better after it macerates for a while cuz im disapppinted. Edit: Sold my bottle, I dont think maceration could increase duration & sillage that much. Probably there is something wrong with the bottle I ordered. Such a waste, I fell in love when I tried it from the tester bottle, literally kept getting whifs for over 24 hours from just 1 spray.

One of the most special perfumes I have. The OG version can be seen everywhere. You can find a lot of clones and imitations of OG. But this one... This one is very special and hits perfectly. 2 sprays lasts whole week. Opening is very animalic. You may not like it. After 10 minutes, there is no chance not to like it. People who dont like this perfume, sprayed it on the paper, smelled it and said ewwww. Give it a chance. Wait for the next 1 hour on your wrist

I really enjoyed Alexandria II Anniversary. It's rich, luxurious, and beautifully crafted, carrying the unmistakable DNA that made the original so beloved. The depth and quality are undeniable. That said, I find it a bit too heavy for my taste and difficult to wear regularly. And while it's a beautiful fragrance, the price feels excessive for what it offers. A wonderful scent, but one that doesn't quite justify its premium for me.

Wtf dude. I loved Alexandria II and bought this one because of how expensive the OG is... and it smelled exactly the same at first... but now I hate it. I absolutely DO smell the barnyard fecal notes and it's fucking awful. What the hell happened here? This is the most expensive Xerjoff fragrance and I don't know how or why update: I took a shower and scrubbed my body TWICE and I can still smell this. Talk about REGRET

J’ai pas mal de parfum de tout type de oud ,mais celui ci est l’un de mes préféré je suis à mon deuxième flacon ,je possède l’original et je trouve qu’il y’a pas de grande différence sauf que celui ci est plus poudré musqué et plus performant.je le porte pour La priere de jummuah ou les fêtes de l’aid ou même des sorties luxueuse ,ça sent le luxe l’élégance la classe absolue Un chef d’œuvre 🤌🏽

gorgeously crafted oud. for some reason it feels very summery to me perfect for a summer night out. the oud is prominent but not overpowering or dense it sits beautifully on the skin leaning toward the animalic side but it’s also kind of fresh in a way or at least to my nose it is. theres also subtle citrusy facet that keeps catching my attention

Animalic!! They added a strong Oud note to the regular Alexandria2. If oud is not your thing, you will not like this. Regular Alexandria II does not smell as oudy or as animalic as this one. Stay away if you are not an oud fan. If Alexandria II has 2/10 oud, the anniversary has 8/10. Typical anniversary scent released for Arab countries
