Alexandria Orientale

This scent is addicting to me. I really do enjoy Alexandria II, but this feels more masculine on my skin. For me, this is an “eyes roll back in your head” fragrance. The animalic oud note is absolutely intoxicating. The floral notes complement the oud perfectly without overpowering it. The cedar and sandalwood deepen its complexity. The hints of leather and tobacco give it a handsome feel. Everything is so well balanced, and the unique woody dry down is exactly what you desire from an Oriental fragrance. Animalic oud probably needs to be “your thing” to enjoy this. I am less sensitive to what some people call a “barnyard” smell; in fact, I seek it out. To me, Alex O is a brilliantly polished presentation of this type of oud. This is probably a fall/winter fragrance for me. It’s not cheap, but I think it’s actually a pretty good value for the quality of oud fragrance. The other fragrances that have given me this feeling are like 3x the price or more. (If others have recommendations I should try, please DM me!) This is totally worth it IMO. Def has the Alex II DNA, but it feels completely different when you wear it. I want to say again that I think this blend is truly brilliant. It may not be for everyone, but some (like me) will not be able to get enough. Bravo!

An excellent oud fragrance. It certainly isn't for everybody, and that can be inferred by simply scrolling through some of the other reviews below. The opening is strong. Some say it is fecal in nature. I understand where they are coming from, but to my nose, there is something intoxicating about it. If the opening is not your thing, you should give the rest of the lifespan a chance - this fragrance evolves as the hours pass, it is anything but linear. You get this beautiful woody dry-down that is very different to the opening. I almost want to say there is a unique "earthly" quality to it, akin to soil. The way I've just described it probably doesn't sound very appealing, but I think it can only really be understood by smelling it yourself. Longevity is great in my experience. I would argue this is definitely one of the more polarising fragrances in my growing collection. So, you can imagine my surprise when I received a compliment at work on my 2nd wearing - it's not what I would describe as a conventional compliment-getter! Love this one. I think you will need to like animalic ouds to appreciate this.

This one is another oud masterpiece.The oud is dominant in this one not like its sister which is a masterpiece in and of itself. If you enjoy oud you will like this one. Excellent Christmas present from my beautiful wife. UPDATE: The green apple and incense and leather blend beautifully in the opening. The middle floral pleasantly unfold with a hint of woodiness from the cedar. The Orris adds a slight powderness transforming this to something elegant and alluring. The base is when the oud and the sandalwood come in. The oud is definitely the main player at the end but did appear briefly in the opening. The sandalwood smooths this out perfectly. I faintly detect vanilla flavored tobacco in the mix. If you have the OG this can be purchased as they are not similar enough not to.

Back again with Alexandria DNA 2, it can be said to be the flanker of the A2. I think it’s overpriced with the smell that isn’t wow. Opened with the scent of basil and apple, with a slight touch of tobacco and leather on the back. It can be said that this is a fresh and soapy alternative to A2, if you do not like A2 I assure you will definitely like this A Orientale. It opened like an apple-aromated car in a taxi, with the nuances of an old taxi. It’s not a scary smell, but it’s also not a luxurious smell. After this phase, it will enter the original A2 DNA with its light and some twists.

This is a beautiful take on the original! I might be the only one who thinks this, but I swear there’s a slight bubble gum note in the mid that is absolutely flawless! Orientale seems to replace the powdery profile of the original with a creamy sweet (almost juicy) accord in the mid. It’s too early to tell, but I think I prefer this to the original. There’s just something about this fragrance that is absolutely breathtaking! Definitely a 10/10 perfectly crafted work of art! I will definitely be purchasing a full bottle when my decant runs dry

This is gorgeous, I have no idea how anyone smells urinal or animal smells. I have some Middle Eastern Pure Oud Oils and now if you want to smell skank, then try them for a start, but seriously, even from a Western perspective, there is no indolic notes or fecal/barnyard smell at all. This is not identical to A III and I've not smelled A II, I only own A III which I love, this is not like it at all, but it is just as good, but with an amazing twist

Very oudy in the beginning, though pleasant. Becomes woodsy and sharp until it dries down into a musky, silky smooth smell of awesomeness after two hours. After 10+ hours, the scent becomes very woodsy again (the oud) and stays that way until it disappears after about 48 hours. The projection is out of this world, I was wearing this downstairs and you could smell it up in the attic. Scary stuff.

Opening is funky and oudy, not good for my nose. It does mellow down later on but still no where near the beauty of the original Alexandria II which is soooo classy. This orientale version is just funky. Yes, the DNA of Alexnadria II is slighty noticible in the scent but the oud overtakes all and not in a good way. Original A2 is the way to go. Pass on this.

This is my pick from the Alexandria lineup. Not enough oud punch in Alexandria II to suit me, but there is a strong resemblance here, especially in the drydown. Spectacular apple opening. Sweet, opulent and very wearable if sprayed in moderation. This is a LOVE for me, hands down. I wished they made a 100mL bottle 😭.

Gorgeous Oud fragrance. A more oriental take on Alexandria II. The rose and other notes round the fragrance making it super wearable. It is animalic. Performance is great, but I know depending on each skin it can vary; but except a beast mode. One of my favorite Oud perfumes.

This is the real deal. Its similar to Alexandria II, however, this definitley has more kicking power. Theres this basil and apple combo that goes extremely well with this slight funky oud. Definitley over priced, but i cant deny that this is one of my favourites of all time.

To me, this one opens with that disgraceful behaviour of scorched cow manure, the same one that I have seen on Strangelove ́s A Fire Within. This one develops to a very heavy animalic/leather tone that is less bad than the opening but still intolerable.

After trying all of them, I must say that Alexandria Orientale is the one that I like the most along Alexandria Anniversary, certainly this one requires a taste for real oud, as always from this brand, performance and longevity are superb.

i tested this fragrance for second time today . the opening is heavy on apple, coriander, its also incensy, rosewoody and slightly leathery, with a faint musky oud that lasted for a few minutes then faded away, the oud is not fecal, it didn't even come across as "animalic" because how subtle it is in the scent, its hardly even there, i doubt there is even 5% oud in the formula to my nose. this opening is the major difference with alexandria 2, but after 2 hours it starts to resemble a2 almost completely minus a faint leathery note that orientale has. that vanillic musky cedarwoody sandal wood scent that is fluffy, creamy and sweet. note that at the start i do get the orris note but its very short lived, just like the oud and thats a sad news considering the 300$ price tag of this scent. its overall slightly fresher, less sweet, slightly more green a2 with less dense and more airy feel to it. i love this scent overall, wish it had more orris in it, at around 120-170$ that some discounters sell this for tester/non tester bottles it is a great deal imo. oud note comparison to the a2. a3 , orientale the oud note here is musky animalic one with woody notes but very very very subtle and it comes across as a musky halo at the start. the oud in the a2 is the balsamic musky ones with acetone like qualities and its also very light. the a3 oud smells more green herbal tea like with woody facets, not animalic to my nose at all.

Has part of the original Alex II DNA, a lightly medicinal agarwood and a crisp green apple top, but it replaces the soapy lavender and sweet cinnamon with a fresh basil plus faint incense. It's slightly "oudier," more sour, but to a much more marginal degree in the air than other reviews had me expecting. The green apple still pops from my skin, and combined with the basil this one comes across much more green. Alex II with an herbal twist. Strong projection for 2-3hr, longevity 12hr+ as a dry basil skin scent. While I do love basil, lavender and cinnamon are two of my personal favorite notes so this doesn't surpass the original to me. I would also say the original is more versatile because it's overall fresher, with the added soapiness plus more subdued oud.

Fresh, aromatic, clean, almost... aquatic? Sexy masculine. Goodness, this is amazing! I want to try Alexandria II and III but this one was, according to the note votes, the one that will be closest to my style. Very smooth blend. I was worried that wood, incense, vanilla and tobaco will make it heavy, sweet and cloying. Nope! This is just a decent, luxurious base freshen with apple, rose and basil. It's difficult to pick specific notes because this is blended almost to an accord. It's like a luxurious aftershave. I would say, considering the quality, this is worth the price.

A luscious Oriental gourmand offering from Xerjoff, this is a smoothly blended beauty that evokes the imagery of a grand Arabian feast in a desert oasis tent. The perfume opens with notes of green apple, incense, basil and slight leather. The brief heart has a lovely rose, along with coriander, orris and cedar. The perfume settles into a beautiful powdery base of Laotian Oud, amber, vanilla and tobacco with hints of musk and sandalwood. Unisex with moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. A pleasing and joyous scent. Enjoy!

It is similar to II. But I feel it is lighter and has spice added to it. It smells different enough to justify having this in addition to II. I could see wearing this to be more subtle. But don't like it enough to pay the price. If it was under $100, I'd bite. edit: I can pickup the dirty diaper. It's faint.

Lovely oud fragrance. The oud is similar to what's in Alexandria II. Come to think of it, I don't feel it's much different than the Alexandria II.

Absolutely gorgeous, but the longevity is just not there, which is hugely disappointing as this may be the finest scent I've come across.

Way too similar to Alexandria II to justify the price tag.

[Tested on skin] Opens with a slightly cheesy/balsamic oud that is not too bad, but a little off-putting nonetheless. There's leather, and something spicy getting through, together with the tobacco. I'm not yet picking up any rose or apple. Then, the rose starts appearing in the background. It's pretty cool how this scent evolves on my skin, because in the opening I couldn't get any rose at all. The fragrance is slowly becoming fresher and cleaner, but then moves on to become a warm woody scent while the animalic part of the oud retreats and the incense and spice start taking more space. The leather and tobacco are still there. Later in the drydown, Alexandria Orientale has become a warm rose-oud scent, with cinnamon and woody notes. The incense and tobacco have, again, moved into the background. What I don't like is that after about 3 hours, a sharp metallic note (I'm guessing the oud) starts to appear. It's not strong, but it's there. Compared to Alexandria II and III, this one definitely is the warmest/darkest. Especially compared to A3, it's less sweet, and is much less of a bright-rosy oud scent. Interesting to experience, but not full-bottle worthy for me.

Sampling over time is good. I have fragrances that have been an instant favorite, but some fragrances are so different in its drydown or even depending on the weather, that blind buys are not recommended. Alexandria Orientale is one of those to test extensively. I discovered that while I like it, I do not really love AO enough to get a full bottle. Nearly everyone seems to smell after Orientale at the moment, so it is not an "unsafe" buy either, but it just does not get me. It is in part due to the weak longevity. With Orientale, the sweet, highly vanilla and amber based opening disappointed me as I expected Alexandria Orientale to smell much more incense-oriented. It is not very "oudh". The drydown is beautiful, but the (lack of) longevity lets me down. I don't know what it is, but most Xerjoff, Maison Crivelli and Kilian fragrances completely dissolve on me. 40 knots, Golden Dallah and Alexandria II are the main (and delicious) exceptions. 4,5/5 with a sad face for the (lack of) longevity.

This fragrance is superb if you like Oud. I get a hint of apple but it goes away fairly quickly and nuances of leather and Virginian Cedar shines along with Bulgarian Rose and Orris Root which are the main middle notes. It's the base notes that bring out the absolute best in this fragrance with a strong presence of agar wood in it. I can detect the tobacco & vanilla note in it. This to me is the crown prince of what this fragrance Alexander Orientale is suppose to be. I need to remind the readers that this fragrance is exclusive only to the United Arab Emirates.

This smells way to similar to Alexandria II for me to give any sort of useful description. The difference is the longevity and sillage, both not as good as Alexandria II (in my experience). Definitely would not stop and ask someone what they're wearing if I smelt this on them, it's spicy but not interesting.

Go for Alexandria II, do not waste money and time on this... Oud and leather notes are strong BUT with apple note its started to smell like apple cider, cigarettes and animal. Alexandria II has amber and sandalwood notes, which makes it warm and pleasant Anyway, longevity and sillage are enormous

This is a very strange fragrance. Yes there is Oud but this is coming off as a freshie. Mostly I am getting a crisp sweetened cucumber with a little spice. There is even a shower gel accord. I have no comparisons. You are just going to have to try it.

Blind buying this because I see it has more interesting notes than of Alexandria II, turns out to be so similar. I was expecting too much on this one for I have Alexandria II already.

Oooooh, I like this one! I DEFINITELY get the oud in this. It's got the funkiness going, not too hardcore but also not soft. Not a real sweet frag either.

When I reviewed Alexandria II about 5 months ago, I wrote, "Fresh opening dries down first a little more floral and finally to a woody/powdery scent." That's essentially what I got with Alexandria Orientale. I can't compare how different the two are since I no longer have a sample of Alexandria II. Alexandria Orientale does have a stable or barnyard opening, rather mild for an oud fragrance, and it only lasts about 5 or 10 minutes. Beyond that, the final dry down scent - woody/powdery - was way too powdery for my taste, similar to the problem I had with Alexandria II. I have other oud fragrances in my collection that are much better than Alexandria Orientale. Performance is very good - great longevity and strong projection. The scent, however, due to the powdery accord is not very good.

I did a blind swap with this one and I definitely regret it. I had sampled Alexandria II and really enjoyed it so I thought I'd take this one on. Unfortunately, this one is a mixed bag on my skin. After trying this a few times I found the opening to most often be fecal, sour, and unenjoyable. I could not find the apple or basil as I was hoping for one or both to throw me a life line. Once the oud toned down it was pleasant but nothing worth enduring the long lasting opening. I did enjoy the far dry down of this one. Creamy woods, oud always present, some tobacco, and musk. 5/10

I had a big expectation from that. I like oud fragrances, even the animalic ones like Ombre Nomad. But opening of this is unbearable. Smells like a baby wipe with new poo. Basically its powdery baby poo. Once that opening fade after 30 mins, things becoming better and it becomes woody masculine fragrance. It does not matter after that 30 mins poo smell.

Absolutely disgusting. Opening smells like puke, leathery and animalic. After a while it's slightly better but still horrid. Fresh notes like Apple and basil actually make it even worse. They mix With oud and leather creating nauseating scent. Why would anyone enjoy this is beyond me

This smells like piss. Literally , i would recommend it to no one.

This is a wonderful take on the famous alexandria 2, it has the same DNA of the unique mysterious woody apple vibe with the following differences ; The lavender note is toned down here and replaced by more potent Laotian oud which appears strong from the begging to at least first 2 hours with little leather hints, The Laotian oud gave it more depth , richness and mysterious feel with its woody sweet vibes. The floral heart with Bulgarian rose makes the blend more smooth and rounded but still leans towards the masculine side with little animalic vibes which fades slowly at the dry down.... Xerjoff is my favorite house and it isn’t even close. I ordered this as part of my sample pack from my last purchase from the house. I love Alexandria II. I was curious if this one was going to just be an amped up version of that. It wasn’t. The oud in here is front and center from the time you spray this on. Which wouldn’t be a problem, except for the fact that it’s a very barnyard kinda fecal oud. My wife sprayed it on her skin and scrubbed it off immediately. I sprayed it on and wore it. It opens with that oud slapping you in the face. After about a half hour, the oud seems to calm down just a bit and the rose, coriander and orris take over. The funny thing that I realized is that it smelled pleasant as long as I didn’t put my nose to my arm. As soon as I did, I got punched by that stinky oud again. After about 4-5 hours, the oud made a strong comeback and took over again. At that point it was time for me to go to bed, and I didn’t want my bed sheets to smell like that. I had to wash it off. I wanted to like this one, because I love the original. But this one is a hard pass for me. The fragrance doesn’t smell bad if you’re into that kinda poopy oud. It’s just not for me.

Found it challenging at first, but after multiple wearings my appreciation has warranted a full bottle. From the first spray, the thick oud fills your olfact with a bold, dark, decomposing earthiness that’s teetering on the edge of fresh barnyard poop cakes. Overlaying the oud is a counterbalance of warm, spice mix and dried herbs highlighted by a delicate touch of sweet and tart fruit. Give it 15 minutes for everything to calm down and you’ll get facets of smoky leather, and powdery/ashy tobacco and dry woods. I can see it being cloying if you go overboard with sprays. I think I’ll be enjoying this at home for myself only, because I’m afraid it may be perceived as offensive in public. Wouldn’t think of wearing it out to dinner because it would definitely ruin my appetite so I’m not sure where else I would wear it. Nevertheless, this is a more interesting offering from the Oud Stars lineup. Unisex, powerful and long-lasting, but not for the faint of heart or stomach, so sample it first. Thumbs up.

@jinglebellss I can answer that for you as it's in his "review" 1) It must be like Fahrenheit because the glass is the same colour. In the same way that Frederic Malle Promise smells like this Diet Coke I'm drinking as they're both in clear glass bottles. I probably should hope that I don't compare any other fragrance to my bottle of Windex given the colour of the glass used. 2) Fahrenheit is the "greatest scent of all time", which is a take, but for that to be true, one would have to also have smelled every fragrance ever made, which I somehow doubt the OP did. I doubt they've tested 1%. 3) Apparently if you're from "Europooran" then you must be aware that your country is a "cesspool", although Europe the last time I checked was a continent indicating how knowledgeable the OP is. I think we can clearly dismiss the review as "Delulu". Yes I do own this fragrance.

I think the reviewer under me suffers from what I can American nose lol. Listen I get it, oud can come off barnyard and offensive. This, however, is not that. Is it more eastern then I guess most Americans like, maybe, but not total poop smell. But to call it super synthetic is Ludacris. Xerjoff is world renowned for using some of the finest ingredients and is not a designer scent by any stretch of the imagination. The scent is oriental gold imo. It's not too offensive where I feel I can only wear it at home, but it's not a gym or work scent either. It's too Sophisticated for that, I think I'll bring it for a michilin star restaurant in Barcelona, pinky way up in the air haha. Anyways, another home run by xerjoff, good on you!

You have just washed your baby with a nice baby wash, applied baby powder. He/she is warm, and snuggled up and smelling amazing...but uhoh is that what I think it is, you smell his/her bottom through her sleeper...yes time for another diaper change. To my nose that is exactly what I smell...this beautiful powdery scent mixed with baby poop. I can understand how these types of scents can bring on nostaligic happy memories of a scent that we become so accustomed to but I would never want to smell this way. I wish I had a more elegant way to describe this scent but it is what it is to my nose.

Lol Americans apparently aren't into this kind of smell. I'm American and I am, but it seems like the couple reviews under me are not. It's not like this is oud from some over smelled. To me it's well balanced and covers any fecal smell well. It's def not western oud, which most likely are just oud accords anyways. I do where this in public and don't get any weird looks like al khat. I get its not mainstream, but who tf wants to be like everyone else if you do just wear sauvage and stay out the niche game.

Chaotic, stuffy, and ultra synthetic. From the moment I sprayed this I felt like I’d got into an old taxi with a large, sweaty male driver talking loudly on his phone, driving erratically. The sickly air freshener (apple/vanilla) trying its best to disguise the musty leather seats and stench of body odour (coriander). A real abrasive designer style scent with no clear direction imo

Wanted so much to like this. Got samples of this, Alexandria II and Richwood. They're all in the Miss Havisham category of frags; befitting an eighty year old reclusive billionaire. Of the three, II is certainly the closest to mainstream or routinely wearable. Orientale is just too oud, too powder, and the only other note that comes through is an unpleasant rose.

dabearjew82.... Or, and hear me out - OR... men don't want to smell like an old lady's sofa. Some people are just revolted by ye olde oud and rose combo. This is not a rancid or fecal oud smell I agree - and frankly I like those sometimes when balanced out correctly. Liking to smell off-putting doesn't make you more sophisticated or cosmopolitan.

Beautiful take on the original ..the lavander has been dialled down and in its place leather and tobbaco with hints of apple , the oud is the same ..quiet fumey and powerful ..took me 5 wearings to fall for it

Borderline puke opening from the clash of the fresh notes with the oud blend. I am used to oud and this is still very hard to stomach. Chris got a bit carried away on this, very difficult blend.

This smells bad at the beginning, and I mean BAD. Like literal poop and piss. I'm not even joking. This is the utter worst Xerjoff in my opinion. And yes, I have smelled Apollonia and DON

Oud here is beautifoul here. Definietly one of the best parfum of the world. ( sorry amouage )
