Aqua Regia

#714 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I'm suspicious of fragrances with "Aqua" or Acqua" in the name as so many I've experienced have really been watered down and weak. Not this stuff. Good longeivty and projection and it's really interesting, which I've found to be the case with all the former "Kemi Blending Magic" scents Xerjoff acquired and incorporated into their product line without reformulation. I especially appreciate real Calabrian bergamot, which unlike the synthetics, doesn't give me a sneezing fit. I also find that a sure fire way to improve a leathery woody scent and give it some real interest is to add in some orris root giving the fragrance a powdery suede quality that I find very wearable. I wore suede leather jackets from high school and for the next 20 some odd years before a girlfriend shamed me out of wearing animal hide, but I still love the smell. There's also a hint of Castille soap here that comes across as shower-fresh, not off-putting. This falls somewhere in between Rasasi's Shuhrah and Maison Margiela's Jazz Club to my nose, both scents I own and enjoy. This is more masculine than unisex. Cool weather for sure. Like every Xerjoff it's not a bargain, but I don't think the price is crazy for this kind of quality. This stuff is potent, so I'd go easy on the folks in the car pool, elevator, small office. For me this would be a single spritz application for indoor wear.

Aqua Regia is an exceptionally elegant yet surprisingly versatile fragrance. It presents a sophisticated blend of powdery leather and violet, with subtle hints of fruitiness. I don't get the black currant, though. While it maintains a somewhat linear character, it's versatile enough to be worn on any occasion. I’ve been comparing this fragrance with Rasasi Shuhrah, and they are definitely similar. In fact, the drydown of Shuhrah smells somewhat like the opening of Aqua Regia, though it’s a bit less sweet and replaces violet with rose. This means you can avoid the smoky and fresh tomato leaf notes of Shuhrah, which some people find off-putting. Shuhrah is much rawer, more unbalanced and potent, and of course, much cheaper. Personally, I find Aqua Regia more wearable, but the sillage of Shuhrah is unmatched.

Really great. I was skeptical with powdery listed at the top the main accords here. Additionally, the first impression from a tester seemed sour in a bad way. Off skin is totally different. At least for me. The black currant and bergamot with the leather absolutely rocks. Bonus that my wife digs it. We don't always agree. But this is another in which we do. For leather being the top note, it lasts a long time. I smell more leather here than I do from some Memo "Leather" fragrances. The violet, caramel, and musk make this thing shine. Great performance as usual. Lasts all day. Projection shouldn't scare others away. May bring them closer with this. Statement piece. Could be a signature scent. Another Xerjoff going on my want list. I have 9 now and absolutely need others.

Alright I got it and heres my review: Starts off with leather and bergamott with a hint of a berry like smell from the black currant, then when dries down becomes this classy leathery smell which is well blended with all the notes. I get a somehow fresh smell from the bergamot but I don’t see this as a fresh scent, idk how to explain it. Definitely have to smell it before buying it. Overall amazing scent with amazing longevity and sophisticated smell. Its more of a oriental arabian smell. 10/10 in my opinion

I tried this in a niche fragrance store. When I first tried Creed Aventus, I thought that was what I would be using as a signature if I was rich. Up until I tried this gem on me. It blew me away, it smells so fantastic. Powdery, wood and soft leather would be a bit accurate way to describe it. It just smells so rich and elegant. I would say it is versatile too, I can imagine wearing this literally everywhere all the time. 10/10

Tried this in the shop and sprayed in store would definitely get a full bottle when im done traveling As the person under said, it smells like elegance

Today is my birthday, my Dirty Thirty [30th review on my 30th birthday lol] and I wanted to wear something new and out of my norm. I felt melancholy strangely, so I went to paint 🎨🖌with my girlfriend. (First time painting anything since childhood) I free-hand painted a dark flower with a black🥀 background. Anyway, I felt like wearing something dark and mysterious to match that feeling. I chose Aqua Regia. Oddly enough, this fragrance boosted my mood. The dense currant and leather are very prominent and wake you up in a gentle way. It's sharp enough to get noticed but it's unique and not synthetic by any means. The longevity and projection are intense. 10+ hours and initial sillage is perfect to get whiffs of the fruit. However, this a LEATHER 🟫 fragrance with a few fruity notes. You'll have to enjoy Leather to really appreciate this. Absolutely masculine, and just dark enough to be peculiar.🤓 Great birthday and I'm gonna remember Aqua Regia as my Dirty 30 scent Pricing is fair and you can purchase this at discounters. Aqua Regia is unique for me - have not smelled anything like it. It was also pretty confusing to me - I still can't tell if I like it a lot or if it's just a meh OK. I'll start the review with the easy party. Performance for me was very good. Projection was strong for about 3 hours (maybe more) and longevity was very good - well over 12 hours. During morning cardio, it activated again as if I had just sprayed it on. Very masculine fragrance. Now for the hard part - the scent. I got a lot of black current and some iris, with a musky patch/leathery base in the background. Caramel appeared during the dry down for a short while and then disappeared. I'd classify it as fruity, musky and woody. Leather was very subtle for me - definitely not a leather perfume. I still can't decide if I like it or not. At times, I was ready to add it to my buy list. Other times, it was like - meh, nothing special, just OK. For now, I'm giving it a 'like' for the scent, but will have to revisit again over the winter. Maybe I'll be able to come up with a more definitive judgement. Overall, a very surprising experience.

At the intro I got rose, with tart red berries and some oud qualities. It reminded me of Mugler Angel Nova EDP, but for literally only the first 30 seconds. Blackcurrant explains the berry. Definitely a burst of fresh bergamot. Now it's definitely musk with leather. Like the inside of sweaty leather arm cuffs, worn by a Viking (or metal singer), taken off after battle (or a great show); mixed with his violet/citrus/cedar cologne and camphorous traces of a topical analgesic. So musky! Drying into a sweet, camphorous patchouli cedar, with powdery floral touches. Very interesting in transformation, but in the end it's honestly too male for me. I don't know where, when, or how I could pull this one off. It's a fragrance that oozes sophistication and wealth for a middle aged plus rockstar male. Judas Priest's Rob Halford would totally own this scent. Editing to state that I have no idea what would possess someone to compare this to Montale. I know the Montale/Mancera DNA very well and, not going to lie, I despise it. I get nothing Montale-ish in this at all.

Aqua Regia by Xerjoff is a rich, opulent fragrance that is perfect for winter nights and special occasions. It’s elegant, dark, and long-lasting. This fragrance is ideal for those who enjoy bold, luxurious scents. Definitely not an everyday wear, but a standout choice when you want to make an impression. I rate this 8/10.

What an interesting fragrance. I don’t care for floral fragrances on me as I find most of them to be too feminine. Finally a floral that isn’t lavender for men. Fantastic. This feels contemporary and old fashioned, in a good way, at the same time. Off to jomashop for another cologne lol.

After 10 mins or so, it's extremely similar to Costume National Secret Woods. Same as Secret Woods, it needs something sweet to cut through the leather and sourness of the fragrance.

Spicy, sweet leather which gets an additional boost through patchouli. Masculine leaning.

Smells like expensive grandma.

This perfume for a mature nose is like seeing Mona Lisa for the first time. easly one of the best xerjoff perfumes out there. the black currant and orris is easly detectable creating a nice blend. little sweet and powdery with leather and caramel coming from the back. it reminded me of tonny iomi in the way the leather and caramel used but the scent is definetly not as dark as tonny İomi. it deserves every penny, signature scent worhty. some can even argue you can rock this 4 seasons, a true masterpiece.

Tried it on the blotter and on skin at the store. This, to me, reads as a more mature version of Byredo's Black Saffron. Less sweet and more powdery. For now, I prefer Byredo's take on a fruity leather scent. Edit: I just can't with the drydown... Smells like a barber shop (and not in the nice DS&Durga way). More like cheap shaving cream... And unfortunately it's this note that sticks to your clothes. Put mine in the wash to get the smell off.

Smells identical to the Kemi version sharp and camphor smelling up top and dried down to a beautiful leather musk scent. Loads of eucalyptus even though it’s not in the notes it’s still there. The leather is extremely well blended. Ingredients are far from montale quality. This is a nice middle eastern powdery leather orris perfume with smooth elements against harsh elements classic middle eastern style perfumery.

It’s a light leather fragrance. I’m sensitive to leather and there’s no getting around it with this frag. But it does come across as softer and more airy than you typical leather frag. Unfortunately because my sensitivity to leather I couldn’t identify too many other notes, but as an expertly balanced blend, that might just be the intention.

Upon application I was reminded of another scent. It took a while and it hit me: a mossier, mustier Knowing?. A few more minutes passed and it came into focus: very reminiscent of Bandit and Jolie Balmain. So, this is a classic Chypre structure with a burnt caramel nuance. Quality ingredients, a scent like they don’t make it anymore.

Don't be stupid like me. Don't blind buy this under any circumstances. It's a quality fragrance, but I don't like it. Wasted money... now I have to sell it with a huge loss.

juicy black current with a sweet violet drenched in caramel over a rich leather base with a creamy orris root. so addictive

To me it smells like a luxurious soap! I get a similar feeling with Prada Amber, but the scents are not same
