Blue Hope

A super nice unique fragrance is what Xerjoff is known for, and they continue to deliver with this one. At first, it's a very bright saffron and orange takeover. Don't worry, that fades after about 5-10 minutes and settles into a deep heavy vanilla for about an hour or two. It's full dry down blends the opening into that heavy vanilla ever so slightly. The orange peeks through just a bit more than the saffron but don't mistake this for a citrusy fragrance at all; it is a vanilla fragrance first and foremost, and a citrusy orange in the background. It reminds me of a super high quality orange version of Chanel Allure Homme. The coolest part is the packaging of course. Nobody ever talks about packaging, but Xerjoff takes the cake on presentation and it's not even close. The first box is a plain white box that you open to reveal your fragrance box. You get a box for your box, you read that right. Then you open the box to get a high quality faux leather covered, hinge open, gold name plaqued box. Open that up to reveal two velvet pieces of "tissue paper" to reveal your fragrance. It comes with a pull tab that takes the bottle impression out and turns it into a normal box. Normally this is where your Xerjoff presentation ends, but with Blue Hope, because it's part of the "Shooting Stars Collection", you get a small authenticated meteorite. Presentation like this is genuinely part of what keeps me coming back to Xerjoff. With this you get a high quality, very well blended, delicious, great year round, fragrance with presentation to match. 100/10

#1265 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant. This is another great bath powder scent from Xerjoff. Castoreum is always an interesting note for me. It's been synthetically produced for a long time, so I don't know why it's still illustrated with a beaver, which horrified one uninformed person of my acquaintance that thought we were still harvesting beavers and musk deer, etc for all these millions of gallons of perfumes. Without the castoreum note this is really not all that distinct from Mancera's "Gold Aoud." But I really get the same effect dusting off with Yardley's Gentleman Classic bath powder after my morning shower. I would say if money is no object, then go for the real thing. Otherwise I think you'll be as happy with the Mancera "Gold Aoud" , for which I paid $60 for a 4oz bottle. This Xerjoff, as always, is pricey at $193, so of course Dua has duped it note-for-note for $36 an ounce. I haven't tried the Dua dupe. Every time I go to their site the fragrance I want seems to be out of stock, so I've given up on them, but you may have better timing. This will not offend anyone in any setting. Decent longevity and projection. Dead center unisex if that's what you're going for. I like it, will probably get around to owning it at some point, but not before the Gold Aoud runs dry.

Ladies and gents this is my new signature scent. Loooove it! Dont read the negative comments! Such a gorgeous saffron orange icecream yummy scent. The castoreum brings the depth, hint of animalic vibe that together w the saffron create this unique vanilla creamy concoction. The orange adds to the sweetness and freshness. This is an unusual scent overall despite the common notes. This doesnt smell smokey, leathery or rubbery. Its all super well blended into a very inteeresting and yum scent that if u pick apart ya maybe ull get a hint of rubbery animalic. Maybe if u oversprAy like theres no tomorrow u may get that. Otheewise this is the yummiest saffron icecream. Jeans and t-shirts, everything except red carpet maybe (like we all have so many red carpet events lol) sunny... overcast... happy cozy creamy scent. I do see blue when i wear this.... Year round signature worthy!

Mmmm....yummy. It reminds me of the orange ice lollies with vanilla ice cream in the middle. The orange, musk and vanilla dominate but after a while you can just about detect the saffron and castoreum. There is a freshnsss from the bergamot and Im not surprised the lovely mock orange blossom note is also present. My first thought was that it is quite a feminine scent because it is a bit sweet. You can tell there are good materials used and the longevity is good although the sillage is moderate. Totally yummy but I'm not sure if it is worth the hefty Xerjoff price tag. It is not exceptional enough.

After a whole month with this perfume I can say for sure that this is my favorite perfume. The combination of its pleasant and special vanilla scent with bergamot, mandarin and the musk is simply a great combination to my nose. I can say that this perfume got me a lot of compliments and it is the most versatile perfume I have, it is suitable for every season and almost every temperature. Blue Hope also has great performance, lasts 12 hours on me and projects excellently. It's the most underrated perfume from the house Xerjoff, I rate it 10/10! An undisputed masterpiece for me.

This one is a puzzle when it comes to describing, for something so straightforward! No matter what stage of the fragrance - it’s a fluffy cloud. Cloud 1- a crinkly cellophane static that tickles your nose. A sparkling, sharp animalic jasmine & citrus that almost goes sour, but is sprinkled with sugar. Cloud 2- Sweet, delicate mandarin marshmallows. A fleeting vanillic puff. Blue Hope toes the line DIRECTLY in the middle of being fresh or gourmand, I think due to the jasmine. It dangles it just outside being strictly of either category. Many reviews reference dollheads or plastic in the opening - it’s not powdery or rubbery by any means, but there IS some light trace of something unusual/unnatural that persists until the drydown. Like static cling, with a zap. Castoreum/bergamot/jasmine combo? A chunk of this fragrance does remind me of VC&A orchidee vanille, with the shrill sugary volume turned way down.

To The Long RANT Below There Is So Much I Disagree With On.... But Lets Just Focus On One Point - Price: Tom Ford Private Blend $295 AUD 50ml $410 AUD 100ml For A Department Store (Estee Lauder Owned), Over Hyped, Hit And Miss Fragrance Collection IMHO. I Think Most Of The JTC / Shooting Stars And 1861 Collection Are Cheaper Or Similar In Price And Rarer/ More Exclusive And Better Presented Than A Sticker On A Bottle. Also, To Than Compliment A Roja Dove And Whinge About Xerjoff Pricing Is Rather Comical. Yes I Think This Fragrance Is Average, Yes i Think It Is Overpriced For What It Is, But No I Will Not Trash All Of Xerjoff's Fragrances And Brands Because Of This One.

This fragrance is difficult to describe. At first, I was mostly getting the cedar, musk, and castoreum with maybe a faint hint of citrus. As it dries down, I'm getting just a touch of the jasmine and vanilla with a fair amount of powdery notes. It's light and fresh, definitely unique. Not offensive in the least, but also doesn't knock my socks off. Good for daytime in the spring and probably just fine at the office. Edit: 2 hours after application and I'm finally starting to get that creamy orange popsicle vibe that a few others have referred to in the dry down. It's so light, though. Pleasant but very faint.

This one is pretty unique! I have not come across many fragrances with a realistic Saffron note. Probably the sharp price tag is due to the fact that Saffron is one of the most expensive spices in the world. Two notes never left me throughout the journey to dry down; Saffron and Vanilla. It reminded me of Saffron waffle ice cream. A safe fragrance with no edges and a bit linear. Comfortable and cozy scent but I wish there was more development involved. Longevity is beyond 10 hours on my skin and it projects moderate to heavy within an arm's length for 3 hours before sitting closer to the skin.

This one is much better than red hoba which it was released with. The opening is fresh with the citruses and it progresses into a nice woody floral. I like that it's somewhat fresh but also has depth with the saffron, woody notes and florals. A very nice scent but not worth the price for what it is in my opinion.

What you gonna smell is the following: Mandarin orange mixed with pistachio on a sweet vanillic base There is something animalic in the background from the jasmine and castoreum but it's a subtle touch nothing major. I can't imagine a situation where I can wear it but it's a good fragrance for personal enjoyment

This is strange. I cannot liken it to anything. It smells weird. A soft fresh citrus that is definitely unisex but it has a strange rubbery smell. Like a dolls head that has that slight chemical smell to it. So I'm now 2 hours in and the chemical rubber smell has gone and it smells a lot better. tbh though, there isn't much of anything left to smell. It's more of a skin scent now.

I'll concede I've got a bit of postnasal drip going on, but this just smells like... Orange Julius. I'm going to concede that sensory experience is very personal, because I do not experience any of the mystery this fragrance is supposedly shrouded in.

It’s honestly really cool how differently our noses perceive things, from the reviews I didn’t really know what to expect but this was not it at all to me. Extremely harsh and weird saffron and orange with like a vanilla and musk lowkey does smell like Orange Julius I personally hate it but that goes away pretty quickly into a more simple citrus musk and castoreum, it’s strange almost soapy but also almost gourmand, not so screechy. I can’t stress how strong this stuff can be I go anosmic to it with 2 sprays maybe even 1 and seems to project very loud for the first hour and stays close around you for at least 5-6+ hours I just can’t stand that first hour and don’t really like it that much for the rest of the way to even remotely feel like dropping $200+ on this but I seem to be in the minority this time

Just no! Blue Hope should be renamed Blue Nope! I've created better smelling concoctions just fiddling around downstairs in the catacombs with a few nickels worth of oils and aroma chemicals...prior to toss 'em in the reject bin. Don't waste any effort trying to same this one...just a tremendous waste of your time and money. Sad, but true...as there is not a blue hope of your loving this fragrances. I'll just ditto 99% of everything Jeff mentioned below.

Blue Hope is easy and safe to wear. Clean and powdery unisex smell .. nothing special or surprising .. amazing longevity and a great projection in very hot weather.

Why is this one so crazy expensive. It’s nice but not THAT nice. Xerjoff has so many beautiful fragrances that are worth $400, not so much this one. So my 16ml decants will be enough. It’s not like I’m gonna use it up like crazy. I have 16 other bottles of Xerjoff I like more. It’s weird too but in a good way. I suggest sampling this one first .

I think I shouldn't be really stating it to clearly here but the Xerjoff house is seriously unimpressive, overrated (by some) and certainly hideously overpriced. Another 'orange-y billowy vanillic drydown'' snoozer. That's is literally all I can describe about this scent. No effort on the orange note, it's certainly no freshly squeezed sweet yet luscious juicy clementine you might have bought for 40 pence for your breakfast. Just that bland, nondescript 'citrus blast' drying out on skin after 5 minutes to that infuriatingly common 'orange-haze' It's time some stood up and talked some sense into some Corporati,,,erm, 'companies' At least for me. It sounds stinging but scents like these only fuel the fire; all the cliched pitfalls of Niche are here; saffron, orange, jasmine and that pre-requisite fur-skin note. This house is a Champion of the mundane and mediocre, maybe not for Quality of materials but where is the 'reference point' with already excellent Houses for superlative raw materials like Creed, MFK and a bunch of others - all with more competitive price tags and interesting blends - in my honest opinion. I'm no scent 'hardcore' aficionado, or even knowledgeable in my terms but I can spot who's doing what and make a honest-fact based take on scent-profile comparisons. Even Amouage offer much better value I think and they're usually, no, *always far more adventurous or challenging with their products. While this one is Ok with it's creamy vanilla, it's too offset by the usual 'game-spoilers' I listed above; Xerjoff really need to take a leaf from houses like T Ford that use, not necessarily 'daring' notes but simply more exciting ones. Like Raspberry. Cannot recall a single Xerjoff basing a scent of that while not including orange or saffron. Apple? Nope. Apricot? Nope. Bananas?? Hell, no. Even a Roja scent uses a banana note now, one that I think is pretty excellent actually! While this will obviously please those who like an orangey-creamy floral vanilla, it's not that this hasn't been done by countless others, at a lesser price and even then with far better value. I can name 2 Montale scents off my head at $100 per 100ml bottle that easily better this and many other Xerjoffs: White oud and Oud melody. And I don't even enjoy those ones! I think I'm done with this house, even their samples weigh in at more than the others! Sorry if this appeared a long rant that was obtrusive to anyone's views on this house but in the end I am only honestly trying to point out where exactly this House lies in terms of upscale valuation - and they really have a lot of work to do. All I can say is time to pull your socks up Xerjoff or pull the insane price tags down! But I think they're happy enough in their own bubble. *Edit: I forgot the 'Sospiro' brand, that do come 'under' Xerjoff. While I haven't tried any of that line, I do find their note-lists much better than the 'Xerjoff' moniker ones. So, I'll give those a try, maybe they can 'redeem' something for Xerjoff. As for coming back to this scent, the usual. My rating: 5/10. Scent Quality: 8/10.

This is odd But then again so am I. Everyone was getting totally diff vibes & giving comp different reviews on here before I purchased my bottle at the end of 2022..Now I see lots of reviews saying animalic, jasmine & orange & vanilla saffron etc. I had seen an interview on YouTube Maybe on the Perfume Guy’s channel with someone from Xerjoff saying they gave the perfumers an unlimited budget for this & Red Hoba & told them free reign to basically go crazy & do something spectacular! And now I’m proud to own them both on the count of their quality & uniqueness! If I have learned how to detect saffron I’d say it contains a lot of it! & I’ve read it’s an expenisive ingredient in perfumery...But end the end just dumming it all down as I do along with any average Joe on the street, I myself wanna say “Hard Candy”Jolly Rancher “Blue Rasberry” Not “Orange” Maybe just because that’s the color of the bottle, With a good dose of castoreum to pull away any possible juvenile or sickly sweet aspects from it causing it to end up being different from anything I’ve ever come across...Blue Hope “Blue”JollyRancher or “Orange”, if you thinking orange Animalic Hard Candy Goodness! Im guessing the amount of saffron in this is what’s making it seem so classy & bringing out feeling of quality!..I’m more than aware something from Xerjoff isn’t that simple..Sometimes if we just blurt out what we think & that may help more than jumping on here and try to talk like some wannabe chemist!!! I can see how more than half of the world wouldn’t pay $20 for this But mine came from a discounter and still want cheap. I’d say this is fall & winter only & actually love the fact that this isn’t hyped like crazy & will prob never run across anyone that’ll know what I’m wearing.
