Ceylon

Oh lord why is this so expensive? I need a gallon of it. The opening is breathtaking, on my skin the jasmin is potent and carries the other notes at first with the black tea and honey being most prominent. As it dries down it takes on this warm musky, lightly soapy sweet, and faintly indolic (but not in a dirty way like Mamluk can be) tone that well...it straight up reminds me of the scent of a well cleaned...uh...undercarriage? Without making a novelty of the scent or diminishing it's awe inspiring blending in the midst of awkward imagery: that is what it comes across as to me and it is quite literally sex in a bottle. Your experience may differ. Perhaps a erm...regular "friend" of mine just had amazing body chemistry and a particular type of soap or body wash, but this is photorealistic to some of those memories and intoxicatingly rich on the nose. It is in it's own right a flawlessly made perfume outside of what it conjures up for me and I strongly suggest you sample it. Scent: 9.5/10 no words. It transitions multiple times, it is memorable in composition, and without equal in it's particular vein. Projection: 7/10 I got a heavy projection at rest for a couple hours and it still continues to impress with whiffs popping up and surprising me. Sillage: 8/10 for the first 30 min to an hour and drops steadily to a good 5/10 for the next couple hours, after the six hour mark it is very close to the skin. Longevity: I am on my first wearing but so far it became a skin scent around the 6 hour mark but appears to be holding tight at hour 8. Would I buy a full bottle? Whoooboy. Almost $600 with tax for a 50ml? That is Roja Sultanate of Oman territory-which it took me a year to convince myself to drop the money on. So while I will say "yes" I also have to say, not anytime soon which is a shame because I want it bad. Hey Xerjoff, if you are reading: excellent job. This one is a masterpiece.

Ceylon I believe is the former name of Sri Lanka, so I assume this perfume is inspired by it, and tea is a big thing there? Well, this one is interesting. Let's get price out of the way, it's very expensive. I got a real good deal on it, almost half price. Paying full price is a lot of money and I think inhibitive for most. So it's a bit tough to comment on value when something is in this price zone. It's easy to say there's no value when you dislike a fragrance, but it's not so simple to walk about value on something you like because that almost reaches intangible levels. In terms of the fragrance itself, it is extremely strong. Incredibly potent. And it hits ya. When trying to think of this as the average person, I can see people being more intrigued by it than anything. For me personally, I love it. I mean, I LOVE IT A LOT. There is that animalistic element that people find somewhat offensive to the nose, but I think the honey and tea compliments it really well. So people that say it's fecal/urine smelling I don't agree with. I say this in the strongest terms, it is NOT a barnyard scent. There is that big, BIG kick of oud no doubt, but for me, my olfactory system loves it in a very primal way. It's like a very civilized savage. It's like that polite gentleman that can kick anyone's butt if he was so inclined but feels no need to partake in those activities. Projection/Sillage are both crazy high. One of my most unique and compelling and loved scents in my collection that I truly cherish. It's a (oud) star for sure.

Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!! this is why i LOVE perfume. Xerjoff is definitely at the top of the perfume game, and Ceylon is live example of that. All notes that you see - can be clearly detected, but at the same time border between them is washed off. extremely smooth transition. all notes are here. What this perfume is like? it is first and foremost a play of honey and oud. Oud is amazing, since its not barnyard but it is a sophisticated wood that is just about to get rude, but never crosses the line. Beginning is in style of mamluk, which i own, and anyone who likes mamluk, will be Pleased with Ceylon. This is totally European oud that is well mannered, and definitely will be greeted by masses. honey is there, but not cloying, just supporting oud in their amazing dance. Opening is strong and probably best part of it. i wish this opening lasted forever. Once it settles down a bit in like 20 mins, rest of components come to play, pulling first 2 a little to the back. Warm, smooth amber and vanilla with tea. Not beast in projection but you will definitely be noticed. Total longevity of this perfume is around 4-6 hours on me and its tested in winter, so i would think that sping/summer/fall evening that are semi warm would increase longevity. Anyone saying its pissy, or poopy or barnyard are quite wrong as i see it. It is very nice, very interesting, one of a kind perfume, blind buy safe and will make your eyes roll. get your noses on it asap ;)

my absolute favorite offering from xerjoff opens with a mix of tart bergamot and tea mixed with a musky, leathery kinda gasoline like oud, the oud is not barny or off putting to my nose at all. 20 minutes later the honey and jasmine appear greater and sweeten up the composition more . from the 3 hour mark the oud mostly vanishes for sandalwood to shine and the combination of sandalwood, soft natural musk and the sweetness from vanilla and the honey is lovely. the tea note stays from the start to finish and adds a slight green, herbal and tart feeling to the composition. i can see the musk grains inside the juice and this natural musk elevates this composition and gives it an slight warmth and animalism that is far more beautiful and transparent than any white musk you can experience and it reminds me of the late dry down of oud maximus from bortnikoff though here the musk used in more quantities. longevity and projection is very good but not the best from this brand. 550$ is a stretch for any kind of perfume but you can find it cheaper on discounters and for 200-300$ this is a win imo. i only wish it was more heavy on the oud side though. edit: this fragrance is indeed very oud heavy, the oud note softens after the forth hour and seamlessly blends with sandal wood notes and this gave me the impression that its fading but even after 12 hours the distinct sweet musky dry down of oud oil is apparent.

I recently visited Richmond Park - London, to clear my mind and find my connection with nature again. As I was wondering through the meadows, I came across a herd of deer foraging. I approached the herd to photograph the enormous stag amongst them. As I tentatively approached, doing my best not to disturb the deer, a familiar scent entered my body: rising from the dry grass a growing animal warmth greeted my nose - Musky, Costus, Honey, Hay, Urinous, Rubbery, Furry, Alive. To my disbelief, the perfume of Ceylon was enveloping me. I close my eyes and breath. This is the best representation of Natural Deer Musk I have ever smelled (other than the real stuff at the Osmotheque) - I am led to believe that the real tincture was actually used in its creation, the notes list on the tester mentions amongst others: "Deer Musk Tincture". There is also a touch of Oud, used here to darken the interplay between the Honey and Musk. This is far more than a fragrance, it is an utterly alive, testosterone-fuelled spirit, that deserves credit for challenging the luke-warm niche offerings that have saturated the market. Dramatic and extravagant. Bravo Carbonnel, Bravo Xerjoff.

Oh my God! This is intoxicating and addictive like nothing I ever had the pleasure to experience! Slightly reminding me of the Moschus perfume my mom used to wear when I was a baby. But this one is true unisex in my opinion. Heavy, honey (but not cloying sweet!) Earl Grey tea cup next to a bouquet of white flowers that fill the room with heavy scent. I can't put my nose off my arm! In my opinion, perfume that charges more that 300€ for 100ml, overblown its extra price for the brand way too far. Regardless of the quality. It's just indecent, the ingredients drives the costs only so far. This one I can buy for over 400€ for 50ml. That's outrageous. But hand on my heart: I need to hold myself SO FREAKING HARD not to buy full bottle and a spare right away and just eat instant ramen for the next few months. Wholeheartedly, I would love this perfume more that two weeks of holiday in a luxurious resort. Now I have to choose between my principles and this gem. I better start to save money...

I don't get any unpleasantness in this perfume like I don't with Mamluk either. I get a sweet, warm, honey syrup with not much oud but it smells divine. This is one of my favourite perfumes. I can't believe anyone dislikes this or gets any bad notes. Edit: Okay, I understand the barnyard, faecel comments, however, I think its a combo of jasmine, oud and perhaps even sandalwood and honey. If you just let the perfume transform and keep changing, you won't have this all the time and try not to panic, it doesn't last forever that way. If you focus on the notes rather than the negative connotations, you will feel better. Maybe not a crowd pleaser but not a bad perfume, very nice actually. Update 2: This seems to work better in cooler weather on me, although always better on clothes than on my skin. I find this tends more barnyard in weather 30 degrees Celsius and above. It doesn't tend to do that in weather that is under 25 degrees Celsius. So, there is a tip perhaps.

Ceylon is simply amazing. An oriental masterpice! For a while that I didn't came across with such an opulent, rich, unupolologetically strong fragrance like this.The blend of all the notes is so smoth and so well rounded, this is stunning. Created to perfection, C. Maurice gave us the privilege to experience a rare work of art. The slightly animalic tone, the juicy raw gold honey and the brightness of the jasmin layerd with a fantastic oud and realistic musk, create a beautifuly balance that radiates from the skin with such power and presence. Ceylon is defently for the oud connoisseurs, sample first, it ́s one of the Xerjoff pricier offers. Easily it'.s the perfume that were's you But worths every single spray, yes, I need only one to two sprays. Like I said to a perfume friend...After smelling Ceylon there is no turn back, real oud is majestic!

A beautiful and deceptively simple Oriental gourmand that takes a few wearings to completely comprehend this beauty has grown on me to the point of a recent full bottle purchase. The perfume has a brief opening with notes of bergamot, honey and a slight touch of jasmine. This leads to a dense heart comprised of Malaysian Oud, tea and sandalwood that stays throughout the wear of the perfume. As it dries down one can detect hints of musk, amber and vanilla. This perfume represents a beautiful amalgamation of Eastern and Western perfumery sensibilities and has a refined sophistication about it. As usual with Xerjoff beautiful blending with high quality ingredients. Unisex with moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity, this is an Oud based perfume that can be worn for an evening down the Champs Elysses. Enjoy!

Out of all the Old stars I've ever got my nose on, this one stands out the best and a first love for me. This is a stunner for me when I first smelled samples of it late last year and immediately ordered a bottle regardless of cost. My brother wanted this one so bad that I gave him my bottle and ordered myself another bottle from Xerjoff universe. The honeyed black tea & Oud based fragrance makes me think that I'm actually in heaven. It's that good. Before you commit to a full bottle, get a sample from xerjoff universe because this is one of the priciest fragrance in the Oud stars collection (Alexandria III is the priciest of them all) and spray on both skin & a test strip. Let me know how you like (Hopefully love) it.

A very complex, challenging, and nice oud fragrance. If you are new to oud or don't like it strong, this may not be for you. I can see how the scent might come off as animalic/fecal/barnyard, etc. but it's just a nice, natural oud. Everyone has different tastes and it will be great for some and not so great for others. The honey and vanilla are there as well for me for sure. I have sampled Mamluk as well and to me, the oud/honey in Mamluk opens must more fecal. Although, just like Ceylon, once I got to the dry down I really liked it. The bottom line is that it won't be for everyone, But if you like Oud, you should at least sample it and make the decision for yourself.

The opening on Ceylon is to die for. The combination of the honey, bergamot and Jasmine gives a juicy sweet almost gourmand like feel. The tea in the heart notes is quite prominent on my skin with amber picking up during the day down. Other than that the notes are blended to perfection. Smooth throughout. The performance and sillage are above average, not a beast by any means but I don't think that's the aim of this fragrance. A delicate beauty. Yes it's expensive. Is it worth it? I think so. Let your nose make the decision for your wallet. It's a love for me.

I'm far from an oud connoisseur, so please take that into account~ Also note I get distinct barnyardy elements from alexandria II and III (especially III). Ceylon is so strange and lovely on me. It is definitely animalic, but in a smooth purring musky way; not in a stinkyoud way. It's kind of like eating fresh warm honey comb while drinking steaming black tea and cuddling a large deadly feline. This is the first Xerjoff I've tried where I've legit been "shut up and take my money"

Compared to Mamluk, the oud here is more animalic, with more castoreum-like facets. It does pack a punch, but from a distance a very pleasant, lightly sweetened black tea note emerges. Smells like effortless sophistication, and the dry, herbal aromaticity of the tea supported by the oud makes it smell very grounding and comforting. I love it, and hope to buy a bottle one day - £430 for 50 ml though... Ouch. Supposedly it's because it contains 2 different types of natural oud!

Honey, amber, jasmine, woody, oud, wonderful. A fantastic luxury perfume, at a price! A blend of sweetness, indolic and woody. This one projects very well and you won't need more than a couple of sprays in cooler temperatures. The oud won't work for some people, so definitely not a blind buy.

Revisited and sprayed many times. Have a full bottle. I have most or all Oud Stars. Giving off a sweet berry honey and Oud. Really good. I actually love barnyard old aged Oud fragrances. Not too much poopiness here. Well made and well blended. Ceylon fits the description of the bottle.

after many more wearings i might as well say that this is probably the most beautiful scent i have ever had the pleasure of trying, the slight animalic oud and the deer musk combo is just unbeatable.

Starts off very intense and a little off-putting. However, after 5 minutes it calms way down into a spicy, chocolatey, sweet chai tea. This is like a more aggressive Tea for Two. I quite like it.

This is a Xerjoff Masterpiece! For those who do not enjoy this, you will prob not like any oud fragrance. For those who love a good Oud, this is a no brainer.

A complex tea, honey and oud mixture that I find can change for me (slightly different things amped) depending on when I put it on, but the overall theme prevails. The opening will scare some people off but the patient will be rewarded... When you first smell this on that initial spray and opening 30 minutes there's no really good way to describe it other than "weird". An odd kind of funky mixture of jasmine, oud and bergamot open at the start which is sour and not particularly pleasant, although interesting at least. If you decide it is not for you at this point I could see why but for the patient once this sour opening subsides you are left with a quite stunning and complex tea, honey and oud mixture. As time goes on it leans into the honey and tea more and more (where the bergamot/jamine from earlier now lends a lime and floral presence rather than a dominant position) and ends up being a quite delicious fragrance that is addictive to smell again and again. It lasts for ages in this stage and I wouldn't describe it as elegant or sophisticated but perhaps decadent. I wasn't that much of a fan of Mamluk (too much jasmine) and this has some similarity with it but has a lot more complexity on top with its tea note. I don't think this scent is for everyone but is a must sample at least if you enjoy tea fragrances. It will take you to the Raj on a light summer's day, drinking Indian lime steeped tea with a drop of honey.

I really enjoy this. The only complaint, price. Ughhhh. You can get a 50ml tester for about $250 or "new" at just north of $300. I like it, but not that much. The oud is present and at first a tad poopy. But it doesn't remain like that and is exceptionally smooth. Lasts all dang day. Turns into a beautiful floral musk dripping in honey. The honey is the stand out for the majority. No tea for me. The rest take over. For honey forward fragrances, you could get away with other options. Like Honey Oud Tobacco from Habibi. Slow Dive from Hiram Green (although, I think Pastoral from Pineward is better). But if you want to spend a crazy amount, Tobacco Honey from Guerlain may be up your alley. Not sure. I haven't tried it. Its on my to do list. Ceylon will probably stay out of my collection but I think it is really well done. Probably a good thing. My wife hates it. 🤣🤣🤣

Really strong sticky sweet, gooey, thick animalic honey and edgy animalic Oud which feels unpleasant and synthetic in the opening. I think that Honey here is more challenging than Oud. I have finally understood that it's difficult for me to like strong honey note in perfumes because that note is very difficult to do well. Here it's well done but it's just too much. This is more sweet in the opening than Mamluk in my opinion even if many has said Mamluk to be more sweet. Anyway until the drydown the sweetness will disappear a bit and Tea note will join Honey and Oud. If you like honey, you should definitely sample this. Quality in overall is good (nothing near for example Bortnikoffs or Ensar Ouds though) and this really is HONEY. No baby wipes like Mamluk. The drydown is smooth and Musk doesn't feel at all natural which I think is very sexy and sensual. Here in Fragrantica the note is "White Musk" but it should be "Deer Musk" and those two are totally different things. The blend is ok but this scent is not for me. I can smell all of the elegance and opulence in this fragrance. I think there are so many beautiful things about it. It is not my first, but is one of only a couple of actual experiences with "real" oud. As much as I can appreciate it, there is just not a single appropriate context for wearing this in the United States, in my opinion. If I ever make it big and take a trip to Dubai, I would probably bring this tester along. Otherwise, the oud is wayyyyyyyyy too loud and animalic - which is a generous description. I understand oud, so I wouldn't personally describe it this way, but to many people's noses this smells like animal ass with piss on top. Mamluk is pretty much a more palatable version of this and could maybe fly in a Western context, but for the love of god at least sample it first. I also do think age could be a factor this one. I can only really imagine someone 35+ pulling it off. Quite mature.

| Xerjoff Ceylon = Lira for Men | Xerjoff Lira = Ceylon for Women I'm not going to hate on it, but I don't care for it. The drydown is significantly better than the opening, so you might wanna give it a chance. I did, but I'd still recommend you go for Mamluk, it's much more pleasant, easy to wear. Mamluk can be worn by anyone, Ceylon screams mature.

A unique perfume. The note pyramid here is accurate. Without looking at it, i get the tea with honey and pissy oud as the mains. It stays forever (in perfume terms). Its interesting to experience the different ouds. Alexandria II oud is petroleum vs this is more piss. Strong perfume profile keeping with what you expect from Xerjoffs.

[Tested on skin] Nope, not for me.. While I can see the "urinal cake" comparison, I wouldn't go that far; the oud isn't overly animalic or skanky. My main issue is the honey note—it's too strong and I just don't like it. Despite being well-blended, the honey has a sharpness I don't enjoy. The tea note is noticeable but very subdued; I think it would benefit from being stronger, though even then, it likely wouldn't sway my opinion due to my dislike for the honey. It's not a bad honey note at all—in fact, it's quite good and syrupy (but not sickly sweet). However, I suspect I simply won't enjoy any honey-forward perfume. This one is primarily honey, ambery, and oudy, with an overall powdery vibe.

Oh boy, let ́s go: Ceylon is another Xerjoff polarizing fragrance. The opening is extremely hard to handle due to a combination of honey and a fecal/rotten oud. After that, the fragrances settles and calms down, but even then, the fragrance is not part of the inoffensive scents. One might consider an interesting work of perfumery, but I find this fragrance quite difficult to wear. This and Zafar are probably the most offensive fragrances I know, and I know hundreds...

I tested this perfume because of inspiring reviews that I've read here. On my skin I recognize a smell of yeast, and it's sickly sweet, almost nauseous for me. I have another Xerjoff scent in the same direction, but it doesn't give me these unpleasant sensation, it's Ether. I like it much more and will definitely stick to it. I even think the perfumer is the same - test it if you can, it's also oud, but more floral and less harsh for the nose.

I'm very unfit for this, in the opening phase very stinky, too fecal, animalic and like a goat's urine smell. Then came the honey, floral, and oud scent with animalic notes behind it. I can't imagine the person wearing this perfume. Some say it smells like a rich prince, but not for me. Never to blind buy this perfume!

This is mainly Benzyl Phenyl Acetate, which provides a chocolatey phenylacetic effect that winds down into a honey jasmine. It is delivered via ISO E Super.

It just smells like white vinegar from start to finish, I got rid of my bottle. none of his oud stars can hold a ankle to Zafar

Maybe it's just because this is my first "Animalic" fragrance, but holy heck this is AWFUL. Slightly better on the dry down, but it still smells like what you'd expect an unfun old lady to smell like. I can't imagine wearing this, let alone enjoying it. Seems a lot of people love this scent, so if you're looking for a very mature and somewhat "money" scent, maybe you'll like it. I won't be using it again. The longevity is amazing though, so I'll give it that. I did one small spray and could still smell it after a shower!

The opening and the core smell exactly like the white vinegar I use to dress salad, while the dry down smells heavily urinal.

A magical Oud blend, done to perfection...and will take you into addiction... One of the best Oud stars for me, but you have to be wild Oud lover... Starts with wild animalic opening dominated by indolic jasmine note mixed with honey giving it gourmandish animalic vibe...very well balanced as it is animalic but not skanky or barnyard and not overly sweet...within hour the animalic touch starts to fade while honey dominates...together with appearance of Malaysian Oud mixd with Ceylon black tea note which stay there till the end...It is deep & complex fragrance and very smooth in its transition to the dry down.... I’ll preface this by saying that I am a massive oud lover. Ceylon opens up with a rich syrupy honey sweetness and a touch of bergamot. The opening feels a touch sour, and on the more animalic side of honey as opposed to something edible. Soon enough a gorgeous Malaysian oud and black tea combo takes center stage. Combined with the honey, this part of the journey is my favorite, and luckily it lasts for much of the duration of the fragrance’s life. It’s rich, it’s dense, and it’s something I can’t tear my nose away from. Drying down a touch of amber, vanilla, and musk become apparent, though the oud, honey, and tea combo remains the focus for me. I don’t find the oud to be particularly barnyard or challenging, but your mileage may vary, so definitely sample first. Blended beautifully, projecting for a good 3 hours and lasting all around 9-12 hours on my skin. Quite possibly my favorite offering from xerjoff. 9.25 out of 10

I once wore this on a night out. First it had people coming over from the other end of the place to check-out 'this crazy perfume' ... then I began to realise just how much of a stir it was creating when someone came in from a neighbouring public house to check it out! (Not that the aroma itself had projected that far!). Eventually there was a heated debate around me, with some saying it ought not to be allowed in public places, and others rapt in fascination by it ... but I don't recall anyone saying simply that they liked it! My stern critics had long just distanced themselves from the whole affair. So compliments ... 11/10. But it's not really surprising: if superheavyweight animalic stonkers are what you're into, this is the summit of your 'mountain'. And I get reminded of that night by peoples' mentions even now! Perhaps I'll do it again sometime.

This is mostly tea and honey dominant fragrance with bunch oud in the drydown. For the first few wears it seemed vaguely familiar, reminiscent of L'artisan Parfumeur tea for two in the opening but hundred times better months ago when I first sampled it. But it doesn't, it started heading more towards tea-honey direction the more I wore it. This scent stands way above the rest in terms of ingredient quality and longevity. I can smell it for 1,5 days on my skin. One spray is enough for me to smell divine without overloading my nose. A little goes a long way. Strong oud presence is quite punchy in the beginning but it is also the right kind for me. I love it so so much when oud is slightly animalic, bit cheezy, sweet and oh so smoooth. Now I'm dreaming about this particular edition in 15ml execution.

Delicate oudi leather... This is quite delicate but rough within. I get that dark gourmand-ISH touch within that European style oud. I get that sandalwood, with a touch of mildly sweet amber, vanilla, and musk forming a sensual dark beauty. This blend is very much amusing, and it reminds me so much of their "1862 Polo" limited blend but less rough and more honeyed. Beautiful. If anyone wants to get rid of their used ones.. i am here to help ;) Edit (23rd Sept 2022) The more i use it the more i find that it is almost identical to "Mamluk"! when i first applied it i thought both were completely different, but i believe they are almost identical because of the type of sweetness used, except "Mamluk" is a bit sweeter than "Ceylon" with the caramel note, and MUCH cheaper than "Ceylon.

From the Xerjoff Oud Stars Collection and it shines brightly. Not an overpowering oud. But oud beautiful like I have never seen it. It has that fecal animalic note I've been loving. Honey, Malaysian Oud, Ceylon Tea, Bergamot, Indian Sandalwood, Musk and Bourbon Valinilla are all present. Cooked by Chris Maurice(the perfumer) renowned for his versatility around Oud. This is a banger for me and a must have. I think it's the most expensive title in the Oud Stars Collection but definitely worth it's weight in gold as performance is top notch way way above average. The whifs of joy at every smell of this perfume on you is magical and worth living for. You should try it. You will enjoy it.

Advatra is right about this having ammonia vibes; it's all throughout the fragrance but it tames down in the drydown. The opening is smashmouth oud but that also tames down. This is meant to be smelled at an arms length and beyond. Otherwise, it will be too overdone smelling it from your arm or something. Stick with it 15 to 30 min and it will blend quite nicely. It's oud stars collection so don't be surprised if oud is the star player. The other notes do their part but I'm not sure the sweetness is even coming from the honey or vanilla; unconventional tea like scent for sure. It's a good one!
