Gibeon

Just when you think you have Xerjoff figured out, they come at you from a totally different direction. I own more Xerjoffs than any other house apart from Tom Ford and Gibeon stands out on its own from the Torinos, Alexandria II, Naxos, the Iommis and the rest. It isn't especially well known as their releases go. It is a powdery cinnamon scent with golden heart of neroli and tonka bean set against a very attractive, slightly creamy orris root. It smells less complex than it is. The way the patchouli goes a bit chocolatey in the drydown gives me a strange, indulgent Lindor gold wrapper vibe to sniff it on the wrist - even if this is 100% not a gourmand fragrance. Imagine what would happen if you created a scent that was half F*cking Fabulous by Tom Ford and half Neroli Portofino, but with the vote of Xerjoff's own Naxos in the languid, golden way it wears. That's more or less what you get with Gibeon. It is probably my favourite of Euan McCall's work along with the outstanding Spiritcask by Jorum which is a must-try if you haven't already. Like many Xerjoffs, it is not linear. It goes down borderline over-sweet but backs off charmingly in the drydown as the patchouli and very fine sandalwoods in the base come into their own. What blows my mind is how wearable this is. You wouldn't think this notes list would work in the office or in a casual setting but it really does. You can do two sprays in the morning and it'll last you all day: again like many Xerjoffs the performance is characteristically superb. You can also overspray a bit for a night out and it rocks as well. It is fresher than F*cking Fabulous but the comparisons are valid because of the orris root in this, but Gibeon is fresher and less lipsticky. I'd say F*cking Fabulous is cooler and edgier but Gibeon is more sophisticated. More supper club than techno club I would say. Truthfully, Gibeon is amongst the most versatile and wearable Xerjoffs I own and that in itself is interesting as they are a house that never shies away from creating niche fragrances with niche wearability. I've worn this three times in the last few months and would also say it is one of the more popular Xerjoffs I own in terms of its appeal to others and the compliments I've had. Even my partner likes this one! Everyone loves this one, but so few people know about it. I really recommend getting your nose on this if you enjoy orris. Three Word Summary - Sweet Creamy Gold Layering Suggestion - I tried it over the top of Amethyst Haze by Carolina Herrera the other day and it was stunning. Gibeon lends itself to layering very well actually. Outfit Suggestion - You want a mix of casual and formal for this one so: the good jeans, smart jacket and crisp formal shirt but with the Valentino sneakers and Dita sunglasses. Scent - 9/10 Sillage - 8/10 Drydown - 10/10 Bottle/packaging - 9/10 Performance - 8/10 44/50

I love the scent, but it's not for me. The powdery orris and Bulgarian rose lingered throughout my sample, and due largely to that combination, when I'd catch whiffs of it on me, I felt I was smelling the scent of a classy, sophisticated woman. This fragrance leans HARD into the feminine, and that's coming from a guy that disputes Blue Talisman EDP being feminine and wears it happily. That's NOT a bad thing; if I wanted to project that image of a classy, sophisticated woman, this fragrance would help with that greatly. But that's not me. I will be suggesting this to the cultured women I know, though. Also, longevity is great, lasting as detectable at least 8 hours on my skin; probably would have been more but I quit tracking it after finishing my "workday" evaluation of it. Projection was moderate to strong; and sillage was about the same. If you are looking to express your femininity, love powdery florals, and want to give off a rather noble vibe, I'd strongly recommend this fragrance. It's one of those I love...on someone else. :-) EDIT: and no, I'm not getting DHI from this. The orris note in this is different than the iris scent you find in Dior Homme Intense. I don't get ANY rose from DHI, which this fragrance absolutely radiates.

I feel like Gibeon is Xerjoff’s take on vintage designer fragrances from the likes of Chanel, Dior and Guerlain. And I love it because it’s modernized with the unique touch, smooth quality and high performance I’ve come to expect from Xerjoff. The opening is bright and uplifting with neroli and tea-like petitgrain; and gentle, fluffy Ceylon cinnamon (my favorite to cook with — it differs from the sharper and spicier common Cassia cinnamon). Then an intoxicating rose comes in. And maybe my nose is sensitive, but I think the reviews I’ve watched and read downplay the patchouli. It’s a fresh, vivid patchouli that’s distinctly camphoraceous yet velvety and addictive. It’s well-balanced with the rose and really enhances it. The powdery orris becomes more prominent as the top notes dissipate and, as the hours pass, takes over with white musk, vanilla, tonka and ever-present patchouli. For me, the deep dry down is rich white chocolate on a background of sandalwood and cedar. I can see this fragrance being cloying if over sprayed so do be careful.

Walk into any Vermont country store, where I live, and there’s a moment — usually near the handmade soap display — where the world slows down. What’s remarkable is the harmony. These are notes that could easily crowd each other out, yet here they settle into something cohesive and unhurried. It reads as genuinely natural rather than synthetic — authentic in a way that’s harder to achieve than perfumers often let on. The versatility is real. This works equally well in a sauna with the meat bros or quietly in the background of a long workday, adding a small measure of calm to the ordinary hours. It doesn’t announce itself; it simply improves the room. I’ve already purchased a backup bottle. That says everything. Gibeon is the rare fragrance that feels like a discovery rather than a purchase — one you’ll want to share, and one you’ll definitely want to keep.

I got this in the mail, finally, and my honest thoughts are that this will go down as the best Xerjoff in shooting stars line since Starlight. It's creamy and powdery, but not too powdery. Subtle sweetness. Total unisex. I would compare this to Dior Homme Parfum. At first it goes on a little heavy with the spices, but dries down nicely after about 20 minutes and most of the spices burn off. With the DHP being reformulated, I honestly think there was a void they saw could be filled with this. I don't think I will be the only one to say this, but the drydown has an uncanny resemblance to Dior Homme Parfum. Definately better quality Iris/Orris and much less cheap off-putting lipstick style like with Dior Homme Intense. People who don't let it dry-down will for sure refute my claim of the DHP resemblance. To me there are almost no spices after an hour. Longevity is good, Sillage extends beyond an arm's length. Overall, I think this is better quality than the offerings by Dior, discontinued, or not. 9/10

What a lovely and special fragrance! Smelling it is a peculiar experience, in the sense that it strikes me as very new and unique, but very familiar at the same time. I am getting most of the notes right from the start, which is quite unusual. Agree with the note votes above, with the exception of the rose which I get up front with the orris. There is also something very sweet, like a gumdrop or some fruity candy in the background. Extremely well blended and refined scent. Leaning classic but not full on retro. Xerjoff remains one of my absolute favorite houses and Gibeon is a fantastic addition to the Shooting Stars line. Edit: After a couple of weeks of wearing it, there is no doubt that this fragrance is absolutely addicting. One of the finest rose notes I’ve ever encountered. Perfect for the upcoming spring and summer.

Xerjoff Gibeon is one of those rare fragrances that reminds me why I fell in love with perfume in the first place. It has the same quiet magic I used to feel when I first experienced masterpieces like Shalimar and Samsara—an effortless elegance that feels both timeless and unmistakably modern. It's incredibly soft, smooth and refined, wrapping around you like the most comforting hug. The creamy vanilla is beautifully restrained by the orris, while delicate woods create a velvety, almost glowing base. Hints of spice and gentle musk give it depth without ever disturbing its serenity. Gibeon doesn't demand attention; it earns admiration through pure sophistication. It is so refreshing to experience a fragrance this unique in 2026 and it will most certainly be a staple in my collection for as long as it is available.

What a bummer, first two tests I was blown away by the rich, creamy balsamic-flower profile but then something changed, either the weather conditions or me testing it more extensively (in hot weather at the moment) and the initial charm transformed into piss-like jasmine and musk. Where did the magic go? I understand that scents perform different in different conditions but this was too much of a change in perception I now can't look past. I guess I'll give it a test once more when it gets cold but I'm not too hopeful. And I have other beautiful Xerjoffs asking for purchase so...

Subtle , soft and creamy , smells of quality and natural. Starts of fresh and light with Neroli and tea notes. Then the other notes of Iris and tonka become appear. There's just a slight rose note and a hint of patchouly. Nothing harsh but smooth, a bit barbershop and way less sweet than I expected it to be. Classy , elegant and comforting. Perfect for a night out. If you want an idea of how it smells: think Boy Chanel with a touch of Iris and patchouly added. Like mentioned in other reviews this has nothing in common with any Dior Homme.

Yet another great work from Xerjoff again. Gibeon is a very unique, smooth, and lovely fragrance that is very easy to use. The scent of Ceylon Cinnamon makes me think of the Xerjoff Ceylon perfume without oud. While the price of Gibeon is just around 1/3 of Xerjoff Ceylon. For me, I think it's in the same category as other natural tea perfume. But this one don't have tea, yet it's a very interesting green scent. It's a scent that could make my day, and maybe your day too. However, I think this is not good for blind buy. Try it first.

Very lovely. Starts powdery (with a very slight plasticly note that disappwars quickly), ends super creamy. The rose, sandalwood, and patchouli give it a distinctive touch, so it's not just your typical sweet orris-musky scent. I also detect something savoury, which smells like oakmoss in the drydown, that pairs excellentlly with the rose, in a similar vein to Noir de Noir or Intense Café. All in all, it's not a groundbreaking scent, but it's a well-crafted and unique enough one in its trendy genre.

Oh God!!! What a masterpiece!!! So sweet and elegant. SPL 10/10. When i sniff this fragrance, and it seems to be made from all natural ingredients, not synthetic. Trust me, You won't be disappointed if you buy a 50 ml bottle. You'll even buy another 50 ml to restock when you run out. To my nose, the scent isn't similar to Dior Homme Intense or Dior Homme Parfum. It's more mature, elegant, luxurious, and intoxicating. This Xerjoff Gibeon for Fragrance lovers.

Just bought this today and I’m shocked at how this can be reviewed as similar to Dior Homme or Intense😳Has nothing to do with them. I didn’t test the new Shalimar yet but if it is similar to the original version,I don’t recall that similarity too.This is powdery,ROSY,spicy but very balanced so neighter of them overpowering the others.Will restock as soon as it is on sale.

Perfection from the first spray. I 've had this for nearly 3 weeks and I have zero regrets. The rose is a powdery rose and compliments the Orris. The cinnamon darts in and out throughout the open and mid- occasional wafts- not overpowering. The patchouli is almost semi sweet.The base notes- this is the nicest sandalwood blend I have ever smelled.

This is gorgeous! To my nose is more of a powdery rose with a hint of cinnamon in the back, just to make it fancy. Well blended and almost giving you a creamy vanilla sandalwood in the dry down. I loved it.

Really beautiful floral musk. The vanilla and tonka give it a touch of sweetness. A very successful blind buy! This is a fragrance you could wear anywhere and not be intrusive.

Oh she’s prettyyyyy. Soft, elegant, timeless. I don’t typically associate this type of composition with Xerjoff, but Gibeon is beautifully executed.

Saying it's not like DHI, then describing the scent profile of DHI is something wild. You can't make this up.

The initial spray gave me candy, but just slightly less sweet. It was the first time both me and the shop assistant smelled it and she initially thought there would be a raspberry note, and I can see it too. In Sweden we have a candy with raspberry flavour (PimPim båtar) and this perfume smells similar to how that candy tastes but less sugary sweet. The cinnamon also gives it a very warm feeling. The woody qualities are there from the beginning, but they started showing on my skin more after the first hour. By then the sweetness and the wood harmonised very nicely. After 6 hours my friends still commented on how sweet I smelled so on me the sweetness definitely overpowered all else from a distance. I wouldn’t recommend blind-buying, as it is giving a lot more candy vibes than the notes would make one assume.

I see this getting a lot of praise and I'm just left confused. All I get off my skin is a powder bomb mixed with a tiny bit of diaper. None of the notes stand out but not in a "well blended" way. Its more of a jumbled together and incohesive way. Someone mentioned this reminds this of something dior or chanel would have put out way back in the gap and I agree. It smells old timey maybe even old lady.

Nothing like DH (or any variation of it). It's powdery baby wipes basically. While it's "meh" you cannot really dislike it because it's not bad but that's about it. Mediocre.

so all this time i have studiously avoided xerjoff, admittedly out of snobbishness. the bottles look incredibly tacky to me, and it doesn't help that i only ever see their perfumes peddled by the most tasteless individuals on instagram. but i asked the sales associate at a niche perfume shop for her recommendations for me, and gibeon by xerjoff was one of the samples she gave me, so i thought what the hell, i'll keep an open mind and give it a try. well, i'm never doubting myself again. this is far too sweet! truly as if so much vanilla sugar was put into it that it's crystallizing around the edges of the scent; i get vanilla, tonka, and powdery orris, as if it's trying to do a take on vintage classic but doesn't trust its audience to 'get it' without heaping tablespoons of sugar to sweeten the deal. lots of patchouli too; any florals get crushed under the weight of these notes. i swear there's oakmoss in there too. the base is a musk-powder bomb, at this stage it reminds me of baby wipes. i'd say part of it is my fault for testing it on such a humid, warm day. this fragrance is heavy, i think it would perform best in an air-conditioned hotel lobby, or perhaps its warm sugary profile would feel congruent in winter when you're craving that sort of thing. and it doesn't smell bad! i know a lot of people less easily moved to nausea would enjoy it, and i imagine it might be a compliment getter. even so, i can't shake the feeling that this is the upgrade you go for when you suddenly have access to a fancy credit card but all you've ever worn is victoria's secret warm & cozy.

Am I the only one that finds this perfume really old and appalling? I don't get any if the ingredients, maybe except rose and patchouli. Really outdated not powdery at all!

I knew from the moment it was announced I was going to buy it. I’ve had it for a few weeks now and I’ve worn it numerous times already. It’s a gorgeous semi sweet feminine ultra powdery orris with hints of rose and cinnamon coupled with a creamy sandalwood and a nice musk. I am in love with it and I find it gets better and better as it dries down. It projects very well for a long time and lasts ages, even more so on clothes. I loved getting whafts of it all day. I’ve worn it to bed a lot and I always wake up being able to still smell it and by that time it has a beautiful luxurious body cream vibe to it that I adore. It’s quite the compliment getter too. If you don’t enjoy powdery scents then you won’t like this because it is very powdery but if you love powdery fragrances then you should get your nose on this! PSA: you don’t have to pay full price for this, get it at fragrancebuy!

Received this in a swap and OMG it’s so good! I was nervous about the cinnamon and neroli, as those are notes I usually hate, but the cinnamon is very muted and the neroli is nonexistent to me! It’s so creamy, smooth, vanilla but not sickly sweet! Not overly powdery from the orris and I think I catch the Tonka and musk. It sort of reminds me of shunkoin which is my favorite xerjoff. 5 stars.

Ouch! I get it Zoriden. I got hit in the past with $136.00 in duties buying direct from Floris. I’m not sure how discounters get their hands on brand new releases occasionally... maybe they are ‘less than perfects’ direct from factory... I really don’t know. Vanilla forward, soft and powdery with a distinct cinnamon note. I get the Dior Homme resemblance, although it is nowhere near as 'lipsticky' as Dior Homme. A soft and sweet cloud of vanilla, the iris is not dry but buttery. Really really good stuff. Addicting.

at first sniff basic women cheap perfume starts getting mor sweet and rich a bit fresh in a way the neroli is there the rose and patchuli too! gets sweet and less plasticy POWDERY! right now 6.4/10

Creamy buttery sandalwood. Smells like a baby cream with hint of cinnamon making it like a creamy chai latte. Just without the extreme sweetness. More baby powdery and creamy leaning

I finally got my bottle and it has nothing common with DHI. I can describe it as a smell of candies mixed with icing sugar. Sweet and very powdery. I love it!
