Xerjoff blah blah, almost a copy and paste of most of my reviews except... Blind bought pleasant surprise. Yep, typical Xerjoff. I’m upset though... Only because the brilliantly slightly subtle opening of green wood freshness lasts five minutes (great) where in the amazing photorealistic cedar overtakes and a peep of tobacco (more so blonde and as per a cigarette) - also great- developes which between 1 and 3 hours the gorgeous musky ambery base with vanilla comes in and I’m in love but the last phase of this 3 phase experience is what annoys me. By and large - irrespective of the note make up for the long dry down it’s more or less the same for any number of Xerjoff and if I’d have known I would have a)Bought a smaller bottle b) bought La Capitale where the subtle strawberry drives me nuts before the same dry down happens OR c) maybe even Erba Pura - just replace Strawberry with Fruit. Strangely I found a sample of Thameen Cullinan Diamond which I loved and held off purchasing for some reason - my brain kicked into gear and I sprayed on the back of my hand and sure enough, it’s not far off the Xerjoff dry down. Well, don’t pass this up on my account. For me this is a predominant woody perfume rather than anything else. I also bought Amabile and that has turned out to be possibly the best blind buy in a long time...

I received my Italica (2021) purchase today and was excited to open the package and test the fragrance. After doing so, I opened the sample pack and noticed Laylati, a fragrance that I was not familiar with. When I sprayed it, I INSTANTLY fell in love! Let me get straight to the point: If you love Nasamatto's Black Afgano, then Laylati is the fragrance for you. Unfortunately, I was already wearing Chocolate Makes Me Happy, so I could not truly test its performance, longevity, etc. But I definitely will test it and update this short review.

It dried down good on my 18 hour unwashed, nope I sprayed on the back of my hand. It was washed and not remoisturized at least an hour before. The first thing in mind when I sniffed it was “baby” like diaper without staining. Just good parts of that reassuring healthy, loved baby feeling. 45 minutes later it was a lovely greenness on my right hand. Who knew?

One of my favourite Xerjoffs. Together with Don and... ok Naxos, although I consider it overhyped. This one is very different and original. Heavy but in a playful way. Not for everyday use but I would say for more official occasions.

Got a decant of this today. Doesn't last an hour on my skin. And doesn't project well at all. By looking at the notes I was pretty excited to try it. 6.5/10. I do love the smell though.

Def in the vein of Black Afgano, Fortis, Cuirs, Mumbai Noise et al... Black Afgano is the original, Laylati is not a bad interpretation. I like it.

Haven't smelled black afgano, but I really liked it, even though I usually despise patchouli heavy fragrances

Its ok. But really if you have Black Afgano, just wear that. If you don't have Black Afgano, get Black Afgano instead. I mean it is a more wearable Black Afgano if you are looking for safe. created several years after Black Afgano. But I ask myself why. It isn't as deep or rich. It has a medicinal opening. It is short lived but there. I just don't get the same joy from this. I would even prefer Hindu Kush from Mancera over this. Which is crazy. The perfumer, Chris Maurice, has done some amazing work for dozens of brands. He has a ton of hits with Xerjoff. For me, this wasn't one of them. I have others that he has created like Malesia, More Than Words, Tony Iommi Monkey Special, and Uden Overdose. I also want a few others he made for Xerjoff such as Ceylon, Don, Symphonium, and Alexandria II. This is nice but maybe too safe. You get a ton of cedar. Then light patchouli, tobacco and a hit of musk.

This is a stunning scent. The opening is a very musky woody scent with lots of patchouli. It dries down into a powdery vanilla tobacco scent with some sweetness that still lets the cedar shine through. The sweet warm spiciness of the tobacco and vanilla makes this scent perfect for the fall and winter. Its also quite green and it contrasts nicely with the other notes keeping this fragrence fresh. Just wish it was more feminine for my taste as I dont love hyper masculine fragrences on myself.

To be honest, this is a little screechy for a Xerjoff. However, overall it is a pleasant woody/tobacco fragrance.

I get bitter, leathery tobacco and the tangy rasp of grassy wood notes—sharp almost to the point of being acrid. It isn't completely unsweetened, but whatever sweetness it has is more reminiscent of dark molasses than anything. It's a dark, mulchy, biting sweetness that doesn't do much to soften the vibe. Meanwhile, the tobacco paired with the green notes make Laylati feel simultaneously dry and resinous. I would describe Laylati as meditative but unsentimental. It's burnt and a little bitter, even at its most settled. When I smell this I picture a stoic university professor in his mid forties, who’s taken a sabbatical and gone to live in the woods after discovering his wife with a colleague.

A perfume that has the characteristic of having this note that I love to define "pasty green" I don't know why but to my nose, it evokes this sensation. Almost a bit narcotic in the wake of Black Afgano-like fragrances,. but it is not a shameless copy, God forbid, a fragrance that is certainly very interesting for lovers of the genre and of quality, it also has an underlying sweetness that accompanies the skin for many hours. Good durability, wake and quality of raw materials. The only drawback: the 100ml costs almost 300 euros ....

It is a unique and interesting perfume that really stands out because of its green and smoky smells. I haven't tried Black Afgano, which a lot of people compare it to, but Laylati is definitely special in a good way. Its name means 'night', and it really feels like a night in a green forest with the smell of smoke in the air. It's not the kind of perfume I'd wear every day. It's more for times when there is a special mood and want something different.

Smells like somebody got tired of having too many decants/samples and just poured them all into 1 flacon bottle and mixed them together. Burnt rubber in the best possible way. I like it, but for what it offers - it's overpriced.

These notes on paper sound lovely, but altogether, they don't work for me. Laylati smells so super lactonic, almost like baby formula, which always gives me a nauseating feeling.

This one challenged me to the point of deleting my first review and starting from scratch. I now own a full bottle. At first, I didn’t love it. It’s true that it’s well-blended, but it’s almost blended to the point of having no personality. The vanilla is a very realistic vanilla - not sweet or gourmand at all. I imagine this is how the inside of a vanilla bean smells. The initial spray hits you with tobacco, but then the vanilla, herbs, and tobacco are blended so well that it doesn’t smell like any of the three. For comparisons, it smells a lot like Black Afgano and also reminds me of Amouage Honour Man. It lasts a good 12 hours on my skin, and projection seems decent but not beastly. It definitely got me noticed when I was around others. I sprayed it on at about 3:30 pm and kept getting whiffs of it all night while I was sleeping. I believe it may be easy to get olfactory fatigue with this one. So overall, I love owning it. It’s smoother and maybe more refined than some of my others, and that threw me at first. It’s very elegant, and I can already appreciate its personality more than I did at first.

LAYLATI! This is heaven for me. I adore it. Along with Erba Pura, this was love at first sniff for me. I havent bought it yet because of its price, but now I had to have it. Its one of the most complex perfumes I have ever put my nose on. This starts off as almost green; herbal notes, then turns into a seeet vanilla and musk, and as it dries down, you can feel the smokiness and the tobacco in it. Its glorious.

If you like Dior Oud Ispahan, then you will like Xerjoff Laylati. They smell quite similar to my nose. Laylati is a very good smelling fragrance, but way overpriced for what it is. There are many lower cost options in the market that mimic the Oud Ispahan smell at much lower price points than Laylati. A few examples include Banana Republic Oud Mosaic ($40) and Franck Olivier Oud Touch ($30).

Dry, smoky patchouli. Green and gray. Melancholic. The patchouli here is not dirty, noy body odor like. It feels clean and very refined, almost minty. There other green notes that I can't pinpoint at. Maybe some coriander, maybe some laurel and moss? I don't know. The overall feeling is very agrestic. Meditative. It reminds me a lot of Chambre Noire from Olfactive Studio.

I'm really enjoying this surprisingly. Normally not huge on cedar but this is a good quality note. Fresh cut, tart and spicy wood. I find this quite sweet and yes black afghano without the kush vibes. I think the tobacco and vanilla notes sweetens this up. Unisex for sure, I love a nice woodsy frag now and again so will probably use up the sample.

Décidément la collection V de Xerjoff prend vraiment toutes les directions ! Laylati est plus sombre, boisé, tout de suite le tabac est perceptible et le patchouli arrive bien vite derrière. Dimension patchouli terreux avec une facette aromatique/verte dans le fond. Trop terreux/patchouli pour mes goûts. Pas mon préféré de cette collection.

After spending a little time wearing this I have to agree with those who say this is a lot like black afgano. My impression is that it is less concentrated than BA. Resulting in more nuance. I can separate out the different notes over time. BA is a linear firehouse up your nose lol.

This smells like screechy nail polish remover in the opening, then a softer version in the mid and dry down. Thank goodness I didn't blind buy this since the fury purple bottle threw me off. Worst Xerjoff I've smelled yet.

What a beautiful blend in this perfume. Fantastic scent that you never stop smelling when you wear it. Compliments insured. Excellent persistence and sillage. Italian class.

I’m testing it now. I love other Xerjoffs, but this one smells like other things I’ve smelled before. I also don’t like the burnt rubber smell.

This one is oud, caramel, leather and cannabis. It is oily and medicinal. It reminds me of Black Afgano and Gucci Intense Oud.

Why people compare it with black afganno that smells like marijuana when this one has no marijuana note??
