Louis XV 1722

Yes! I'm excited again! Thank God. I thought it was me! I thought I was the one that was becoming disinterested, and that was making me sad. Turns out it was not me. It was the trash that was being released! The last four days in the fragrance world I have experienced some brand new releases and I have to say we are back on track baby! I won't say what brands I have tried, but I will say they are all very well known and you are in for a surprise. This one included! I absolutely love this fragrance! Louis XV 1772. Perhaps I'm the only person that does this, but every once in a while I will smell a fragrance and it will completely change me. Louis XV 1772 has done that for me. Again most people do not understand, like they do not understand the difference in wine tasting. I am one of those people I will be honest. I understand fragrance much better and I understand Louis XV 1772 is special. I think it has to be in order to be an official partner of House de Venoge. It's my understanding they are a prestigious house. It is obvious their associated fragrance has to be prestigious as well. I heard some people say Louis XV 1772 is not representative of champagne. My response to those people is you are wrong. Simply put. Not only do I get the effervescence of a brand new bottle, but I also get the very unique fermentation quality that is very specific to this brand. You might think that does not sound appealing, but trust me it is. It's fresh and slightly tart while at the same time a little bit sweet and smooth. It's wonderful. Finally something for fragrance aficionados.

This was a rare blind buy with a Black Friday discount and fortunately it’s everything and more I’d hoped for. In fact, this is one of those rare fragrances that live up to expectations from the listed accords at the top of this page. Although it has certain gourmand notes, it’s not, thankfully for me, a gourmand fragrance. I’d characterise this primarily as a warm spicy, musky fragrance with some powdery aspects juxtaposed with a sharper edge up top along with a subtle nuttiness. It’s the sharp aspect that I particularly like, giving it a slight freshness which dissipates over time to dry down to a comforting and creamy woody base with a touch of leather. It has a sweetness to it without being overly sweet. There’s a slight hint of coffee and the champagne is noticeable but I’d say no particular notes stand out. As it dries down it settles into a soft, powdery, woody scent that is a little more familiar. Overall, it’s beautifully blended to produce a classy and versatile fragrance that could be worn across all seasons and for a variety of situations although I find it more on the formal side. I think it’s a delightful fragrance of high quality that, to my nose, leans slightly masculine with great longevity and moderate/light projection. As usual, the Xerjoff presentation is beautiful. I just love everything about this fragrance.

Tested it on skin: To my nose Louis XV is a very crisp, clean effervescent masculine leaning (while remaining unisex) fragrance. The opening is quite citrusy/vegetal and reminiscent of a Creed creation with Naxos undertones without smiling like either. It's light and airy, not dense but substantive if that makes sense. It has very well-blended fruits and florals with a hint of sweetness in the dry down. If you're into white wines/champagnes, think of a crisp dry citrusy aromatic sparkling summer white with a hint of sweetness that anchors the composition. The sweetness is addictive once your nose picks it up (just like a good wine ☺️), I couldn't stop smelling myself. It creates a very nice scent bubble, with moderate projection that lasts forever. I could wear this year around but I think it would shine in the heat of summer and would also layer beautifully with sweet/fruity fragrances. Notes I pick up: Champagne Saffron Musk Unrippened/tart plum flesh Grapefruit (and a lime/bergamot note not listed) Lavender Leather Notes I don't detect: Hazelnut Coffee Rose Cocoa Incense Sandalwood, unless it's the "pickle" variety which can explain the vegetal note that I get (I don't typically get pickle juice from sandalwood though). Nonetheless, a beautiful composition and blind buy success for me 🙌🏾💕.

Wow this stuff is good. I mean, really, really good. Really. Just received my backup bottle. This has to be one of my fav Xerjoff releases since Homme Anniversary. Since going through a quarter of a bottle, and since my last review here, I've noticed something about this fragrance that I didn't really when I first bought it and started wearing it. Don't just sniff & run. Or wear it once and dismiss it. Give it a little time... It has much more depth than I initially gave it credit for. There is a definite bright, effervescent nature to the opening that is incredible. Is it 'Champagne-esque?' Yes, yes it is (I don't drink alcohol, but I have smelled many champagnes in the past and this is in the ballpark). But the mid and drydown...holy moly this stuff is just damn good. 8-10 hours easy out of a few sprays. Sillage is massive and noticeable for at least four or five. The drydown is incredible, and easily one of the best I've encountered. Openings don't really matter. Drydowns you are stuck with for a while and this one is great. Has easily moved into my top 5 Xerjoffs of all time.

Xerjoff is known for their excellence in blending, where everything is in perfect harmony. Examples: the blending for More Than Words is superior to Nishane Mana, which itself is better than LV Ombre Nomade. Same for Uden vs Chanel Allure Homme EB. So I think many reviewers are taken aback by this scent, where it's not a holistic, harmonious scent. Instead, this scent is all about tension, a perfect balance between the top notes, the mid notes, and the base notes. It's endlessly fascinating and hypnotic. This might be their greatest achievement in blending; finding that perfect balance point must have been difficult indeed. I'm pretty sensitive to lavender and I don't find it overwhelming as others have said. I wouldn't want any more of it but it's not nearly to the level of Mefisto Gentiluomo, where it takes over the fragrance for me. Probably not a safe blind buy, grab a decant.

This fragrance opens up with a bubbly but moderate champagn accord supported by plum notes and then transitions into a warm spicy choclate/coffee/hazlenut and floral-woody drydown on me. I'm new to fragrences so my vernacular in this department will not be rich but having looked at mainstream designer fragrences, Xerjoff was a new experience to behold in terms of the quality, depth, and complexity of the fragrance. This is the type of fragrance that I would wear to button up events but has a lot of versatility if someone wants to wear it a different way. This was the first Xerjoff bottle that I ever bought (after going through 4 different samples) and this was my favorite out of my sample set (Naxos, Zefiro, Erba Gold, Louis XV). I really hope they don't discontinue this (as this apparently is a limited release) but keep it around!

Philballs description is spot on,This is a fantastic release and is very well blended. To add , in the open a citrus sparkling champagne that quickly fleats (10 minutes) once the citrus disappears it becomes darker, sweeter, woodier but never fully commits itself to gourmand or woody. I like the idea of gourmand Fragrances but i never love them and get bored quick.That being said, i love LouisXV and how multi faceted it is, it gets as sweet as Starlight and/or Naxos but never gourmand.LouisXV has it's own happy dark woody,cocoa with a sparkling citrus open that peaks in throughout the life which makes LouisXV a more unique scent than anything I have tried.I can say 100% with owning Argos- Fall of Phaeton they do not smell similar to me.

Wore this today for the first time. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, and still am. I was curious based on the notes Be forewarned: don't come here looking for champagne. Ignore the note breakdown altogether and sample it for yourself. Many here who are posting aren't pinning this down, and I doubt that I can articulate it either, so I won't even try. It is a multilayered olfactory experience that transitions so much throughout the wearing that you'd be hard pressed to describe it. At least I am. I can tell you that I don't get champagne. Dry down is barber-shoppy and I love it. That's about it. Acquired a full bottle. Exquisite stuff from Xerjoff.

I enjoyed this a great deal. I have several champagne fragrances like Sparklin Jo, ScentXMe, Dom Rosa Millesime and Remarkable People and Xerjoff does thing differently than those. Louis XV is much less about the champagne than the others mentioned. It is much more about the woodiness and Musk. The sparkling champagne only lasts 30-45 mins and its really nice while it lasts. It's really enjoyable experience overall. Plenty of freshness but also deep and complex. I think you can wear it day or night, pretty much all year. Perfectly unisex as far as I can tell. I don't know if it's a hit but it's my favorite xerjoff since Monkey Special, maybe before

I got this alongside Amouage Timber to replace my Roja A Midsummer Dream and Amouage Overture. Both have cocoa, incence and lavender. But Louis XV is sparkling zesty in the opening that reminds me of my almost empty Creed Aventus bottle which I have no intention of buying again due to it's poor performance. I don't like the aldehydes just like I disliked them in the Roja A Misdummer Dream. But the drydown is delicious: chocolatey musky wood. No trace of coffee yet but I believe I will detect it as the perfume macerates with time. It smells different and better on my skin to on paper. This is my 1st Xerjoff and I love it

I initially got a sample of this and it was love at first smell. I went ahead and got a bottle not too long after I killed the sample haha! On paper, I do get what people say about this being green and what-not, but I do feel like this scent is much more elevated on my skin. As it dries down, I start to get the champagne notes and eventually the sandalwood begins to shine through and it is definitely softened by the chocolate, hazelnut, and lavender. I do feel like this does lean a lot more masculine. This is definitely an amazing scent that I love enough to selfishly rock in my home office all day as I work from home.

Just got this for a great price. It’s definitely not a crowd-pleaser, but something about it kept pulling me back. I found myself returning to decode its scent profile. To my nose, it’s a clean, woody, incense-leather blend with a subtle hint of spilled champagne. It feels refined and serious, a true masculine scent. Honestly it’s hard to imagine a woman pulling this off, but I didn’t buy it to please others. I got it for special occasions and important meetings, it carries presence and weight.

Absolutely gorgeous fragrance. Grapefruit with champaign opening like aspirina commented. It is similar to other fragrances in the drydown, but I couldn't really pinpoint what - I did side by side, and no. On my skin, it boils down woody musk with some nutty nuance, but could not really detect solid notes such as coffee or lavender. The composition is similar to uden, but not at all similar to Uden or Uden overdose. Remarkable People has fruity aspect through its life, but this does not.

Gorgeous. Great sparkling feel with the champagne up front. Just the right amount of sweetness. Super cozy drydown. I have Zefiro and love it. This may actually beat that. The projection could be better. Not a show stopper. 8 hours easily for longevity. Really great. Iffy on the cost. However, the scent is great enough that I will contemplate getting it.

Absolutely loved this right away, very stylish, classy and was fresh energetic burst initially. Really made me feel good to go out for dinner . Picked up quite a few compliments which is great as not had a lot of late so always good to uplift ones spirit. A very bright uplifting start and settles nicely as well. Long lasting too.

I don’t get that release, I do not hear any champagne notes at all, even Via Cavour smells more like champagne than this one, smells more like linseed oil tbh. The scent as a whole is weird, bitter green, something like Caron pour un Homme, and in the same time it wants to be like Ganymede, but not quite it.

A unique and modern take on the barbershop scent. Really love this one! The notes are difficult to discern as it is a complex blend, but I would describe the vibe as plum, the color dark purple, and aristocratic. Surprisingly versatile if you adjust the sprays accordingly. Longevity is excellent!

"I don't get the champagne note" ....I don't think alot of you ppl have ever tasted champagne. This fragrance definitely reminds me of champagne, not to sweet, a little bitter and sparkly. Amazing work from Xerjoff, never smelled anything like it before.

It's a lighter version of Naxos IMO... I get the champagne fizziness on the opening. I think it's the lavender that put me in the Naxos vibe. It's Airy and sweet like Paragon doe. It's a year round scent on my first impression. I like it alot 😂😂

Xerjoff can be hit or miss but when they hit, they hit hard. This one is a winner. I got a sample with a luckyscent order and well damn I went ahead and ordered the bottle. Would've gone for the 100ml if it were available.

Forget the notes, this composition is blended so well you can tell they are only meant to create the idea rather then pick out the notes individually. This smells like wood chips in a sauna and it's incredibly underrated

Just a beautiful, effervescent smell. Just the right amount of sweetness and woodiness. I get something that reminds me of the dry down of Absolu Aventus, something almost bubblegummy too but in the best way possible.

Great modern take on a barbershop. Classy, clean, with a tangible depth, and I love that it has just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess. Can be easily used as a signature scent.

One of the few Xerjoff fragrances I love. So beautifully balanced and expensive smelling. Also very versatile, but I can imagine it really shining during warmer days.

Am I the only one reminded by Golden Green? Lighter, fresher at the top and middle, but in the base - almost the same. Anyway very chic and posh. Glad to have both.

This perfume has made me take a long hard look at my collection and wonder "what the hell do I need the rest of you now for?"

Personal: 7/10 – It's rich and smooth, but it leans a bit too powdery and Mass appeal: 6.5/10 – This leans powdery floral, which isn’t for everyone. Performance: 7.5/10 - It performs fine, but a bit sub par for something resinous. Value: 4.5/10 – Xerjoff pricing is steep, and it's not likable enough to me. Uniqueness: 8.5/10 – A very regal powdery floral-amber blend. I notice the champagne and unique woods, which really sets it apart from anything else. SCORE: 68/100 Full bottle buy? NO, too powdery for me. I admire it more than I enjoy it. Blind buy? NO, far too powdery and floral-heavy to gamble on. And pricey. Recommend? Louis XV 1722 is one of the most royal smelling fragrances I've ever gotten my nose on. It feels so expensive and opulent, but it's also hard to wear. The opening certainly has the advertised metallic notes, but in the drydown it becomes a bit more appealing and pleasant. Still powdery, but the resins and dry woods start to talk a bit more. Smells like royalty. It's admirable, and a great artistic expression, though difficult to pull off and not something I could wear regularly. A really nice fragrance, although it doesn't make me think of champagne if I'm honest. Louis XV 1722 is a nice fragrance, but I can't help but see it as the combination of another two fragrances, these being Creed's Himalaya and Penhaligon's The Tragedy of Lord George. The base of this fragrance is a sweet and powdery woody scent, very much like the Penhaligon's, and the opening's citrusy top over this soft base makes me think of Himalaya. Alongside the citrusy opening and woody base, this has a slight aromatic zing from lavender and a near imperceptible dark sweetness from hazelnuts and coffee. All these elements are blended extremely well and combine to make for a great fragrance, but I think I find it just a touch too powdery for my taste. A few hours into the wear the incense note starts coming up on skin and it's a bit too bitter and unbalanced, but not at all a dealbreaker. This also doesn't smell like champagne at all to my nose, for that I'd look at something like Amouage's Overture Woman. Another big positive is that this is a fragrance you could easily wear year round, but I wouldn't consider this too adequate for daily wear. Performance is decent overall. Projection seemed to be moderate, maybe on the strong side during the opening hour or so but this isn't a big projector. Sillage on the other hand is dense and you'll smell it for a few hours. Longevity is great, lasting 8 hours on skin with relative ease.

the opening is exquisite. the champagne fizziness and grapefruit smell realistic and bubbly and sophisticated and refreshing—one of my favorite openings of all-time. the dry down is unfortunately not for me. I think some people will rightly love this fragrance. it has a lot going for it: it’s sophisticated, well-blended, intriguing, etc. for me the woodsy notes are most prominent and the cacao, coffee, and hazelnut are all present in more subtle ways, which I love, but there are some metallic notes that don’t work for me. it reminds me of Papilefiko by Nishane: a fragrance that many rightly love, but has a metallic sharpness that doesn’t feel good to me. the scents remind me of each other as well. EDIT: On future wearings, I noticed the metallic notes far less. The dry down is beautiful and very woods-y, but also smells very mature to me. I picture an older gentleman (a king if you will). Still not quite for me, but I do appreciate it. Beautiful perfumery.

First Impression: Opening is citrus with a camphoric vibe that is pays tribute to the effervescent fizzy opening of a champagne bottle but it falls a bit flat (no pun) in my opinion. Beyond that and into the drydown and it's sandalwood, musk and a touch of incense. Although it's inspired by champagne, this would actually make a phenomenal office fragrance. As far as the comparisons, I don't think this is anything like the ELDO which smells like dried and stale champagne. This is a nice safe office appropriate fragrance. If you like sandalwood and musk, it's absolutely worth trying. If you were expecting fireworks from the hype train, I think might be disappointed. If you like uncomplicated minimalist fragrances like I do, it's an absolute winner. ⚜️ Scent 85/100 Performance TBD

Got a small sample of this at the store. Very nice citrus-y / fruity with a faint hint of booze. However, nothing to write home about. I'm not really getting any of the heavier notes (wood / leather / hazelnut) or they are too faint for me to sense - which is a shame because i feel like they would have balanced off the acidity of the top... I guess it's unisex (though to me most "unisex" actually lean feminine) feels somewhat luxurious, so not really fitting occasions outside of fancy dinners, operas, formals, and the likes... I wouldn't rush to buy it but I'll keep it mind as i compare it to other similar ones. UPDATE: after using the sample a bit more, i think there's something slightly too cloying about it, in the dry-down. I wish the dry-down felt more mellow or balanced..

Off of first spray and the wafts of it through the day give me a big Aventus vibe. It is not to say its a clone. But it has that bright and clean aspect that Aventus has. This has a darker side to it that contrasts the bright and fizzy. I am personally a fan of Aventus, so this is a like for me. Champagne has been my latest obsession and trying as many champagne forward fragrances as i can. Oddly enough, the most common and forward material used for a champagne accord is aldehydes, citrus, and rose materials like PEA. Do not get any coffee or cocoa, not upset about that. There is a certain breadiness to this fragrance that can probably be contributed to the pyrazines or furans used to make the nutty or coffee note.

At opening, the champagne note was not perceivable to me...almost smelled like nothing (top notes could have oxidized from the sample)...the rest of the fragrance is a little busy and disconjointed, while not unlikable...lavender, rose, hazelnut, and chocolate are the main drivers of the scent...not bad, not great Edit: this actually better than I first thought...I finished out my sample and it wore pretty nice this time...almost evolves into a fruity (blueberryish) eithiopian coffee w/ lavender and a little chocolate mixed in...dark & bold for a neo-fougere...pretty unique

That feels like a flanker to Zefiro. Musky, aldehydic, white-grape like winey acidity with a leathery incense base. Miasta projection though - lies close to the skin

Zingy, zesty, herby, refreshing! Amazing opening but I don't love the drydown as much sadly. The lavender really comes out in the drydown.

Had the chance to try this one out yesterday. Oh boy, it was not what I expected Based on the notes I had high hopes for Louis XV; sandalwood, musk base with rose and other notes that I like. Before I went to try it out I already watched a couple of reviews on YT. I usually do not get hyped or influenced by these reviews, but with Louis XV it was quite different, when I sprayed it on I could not think about anything else, but how The Niche Fragrance Collector, one of my favourite fragrance Youtubers described it. I sprayed it on and all I got is this greenish citrus with sort of a medicinal effect, it threw me off completely. This in itself wouldn't be a problem, i had my fare share of fragrances where the opening is just a sort of "just get through it to enjoy to drydown". My problem with Louis XV is, that this annoying greeness doesn't fade away after the 1st or 2nd our mark, but it stays for at least 4-5 hours. The drydown is nice, I enjoyed it, but the process to get there was not so enjoyable. So this is no from me, but you if you are interested you might as well just try it out for yourself. Quality is usual Xerjoff so if you like the scent it is definitelly worth to buy.

Without looking at notes in the opening I wrote down “A bright fizzy lemon orange burst in the open with something almost like sweet peppermint. As it dried it became clean white musks with sandalwood to me. It is pleasant but nothing special.” After looking at the notes I see coffee, plum, hazelnut, leather, chocolate... Really? That seems like a huge stretch to me. Maybe saffron and incense are offering a bit of warmth, but this is just a clean musky fragrance listing popular gourmand notes for more traction. That’s lame. I can definitely picture a dried up champagne feeling, but it isn’t the ultra realism boozy fragrance that many niche houses are offering now. I also get a slightly unpleasant bitterness. Not worth the price in my opinion, not interesting enough. 7.0/10

In the opening I get strong grapefruit and lavender. Then, about a half hour later, strong incense and leather come out. The drydown is mostly musky sandalwood. The projection seems very weak. I am not getting a lot of the notes like plum, champagne, saffron, etc. I was also expecting this to be a lot more powdery. I can't really say this smells luxurious. Pretty forgettable. I can't imagine too many ladies would want to wear this either.

I like this, it reminds me a little of golden green but I think golden green is more complete (has more depth) and is stronger as far as projection and longevity. Biggest issue with this fragrance is unfortunately it barely projects and lasts around 5-6 hours. To me that's unacceptable for this price point, so although it smells interesting, ultimately it's not worth the price point. If you like this, try golden green by the same house.

It’s pretty good but I’m not creaming my shorts over it. Keep your expectations in check when reading some of these gushing reviews. It seems to last a while but the projection is soft with 2 sprays. I’ll return after more wears but so far it seems fine. Can’t quite get a good read on it.

Super unique! I havent smelled anything this sparkling or champagne-like before. I have to admit that the opening for me was a little bit strange... « sèche « and not « fruité » as I would normally drink champagne or spumante. Xerjoff quality of course and has a very elegant air.

after testing this besides other new works grom this house . I came to this that this house is not for me. for me boring non unique works except 3 or 4 of them for me.
