XXY

I am very thankful for my opportunity to not only try this fragrance but to learn from it. I've had a sample of xxy for about four years. I have worn it sparingly-maybe once per year. Within that timeframe, I have learned so much about the art of perfumery and have also sampled hundreds and hundreds of other fragrances. Where I started upon first purchasing xxy is not where I currently have ended up. Especially when it comes to Iris! I didn't realize how iris forward xxy was in the beginning because all I smelled was Citrus and a generalized powder. And that was good enough for me back then! Probably because the quality is so profound that untrained noses like my own failed right away. I did not buy it simply because I could not afford it. It's around $700 for a 100 mL. Even today, after years of education, it is still too expensive in my opinion. I understand why the price is at that point, but it is still unattainable for the vast majority of consumers. You are a member of this community, and you obviously understand this is not the only fragrance you are going to be purchasing. For $700 you could purchase as many as four fragrances. So you must really adore this particular fragrance in order to sacrifice the purchasing of as many as three other full bottles. Going back to the fragrance itself, what stands out to me more than before is the quality of the iris. I truly believe Iris is an acquired taste. It is comforting but not in the way vanilla or Cashmere is comforting. It is a distant kind of comfort. It takes time to enjoy. But if it is done the right way, it becomes addictive. And it is easy to tell when it is artificial. Once you smell authentic and well crafted Iris essence, there is no turning back. Iris is very expensive to use because of how it is processed. You get a very small amount of iris absolute for the amount of work and sweat you put in. I believe true iris absolute is within this composition. However, it is still hard to justify the price. In comparison, I do have Symphonium Parfum in 100 mL size and I do not regret the purchase at all! So maybe the fragrance itself, although beautiful, is still not quite there. Yes, my opinion is entirely subjective and I do still recommend you try it for yourself and make your own decision. It is certainly good enough for that. Please decide for yourself if it’s worth the $700. Definitely it is a fragrance for people of high class. I don't think you will stand out, but you will have good taste and the discussion about xxy itself might be worth it to you.

XXY is a unicorn fragrance in my staple. I got a fb at about 1/2 off and i take it as a smart move. I like the fragrance and to me it is unlike anything else. It starts with a burst of peach and aldehydes as i see it, but most likely those are citruses at play. Smells very vintage and old era like. And this phase lasts about 5 minutes from which it morphs. The middle and base are pretty much the same. It is this very unique warm peach vanilla ylang patchouli mix cooled and powdered by iris. The magic of Xerjoff is that they blend notes so well that they create a composition, but you still can differentiate every note. And this blend is very comforting but cold and futuristic at the same time. Longevity is great i get over 8 hrs every time, and silage is about 30 cm/ footlong, based only on my judgement. New bottle as well, which i had some doubts about, but glad i bought it.

I really wanted to love this one, I saw Iris and I love Iris but this perfume is just too weak, fleeting, I can barely detect any of the notes and then in 15min it’s gone. I wish it were stronger at least . Not worth the price or anything near it.

XXY is good-let’s get that out of the way. The smell on my skin is a buttery citrus vanilla with some chewy labdanum and very light woody notes. If I were gifted a bottle, I’d be thrilled (and normally I don’t like citrus-sweet) and wear it-but I’d never buy this. For one: it’s stupid expensive for a citrus vanilla floral. Second: this genre of perfume is done better by Lira from Xerjoff’s Casamoratti line, or Acqua di zucchero (spelling?) from profumum roma. And both perform better-the Profumum Roma in particular is a monster. It’s beautiful, I don’t mind the Iris (my nemesis) and while expertly done: not worth the price. Scent: 7.5/10 it’s nice but I want more and it could have delivered. There are too many like it that do it stronger and better. Projection: 4/10 it actually isn’t that potent on me and doesn’t make itself known at rest. Sillage: 4/10 it does linger briefly when you are in motion but not for long and not loudly. Longevity: 5/10 five hours is about the weight class this composition can punch within. Would I buy a full bottle: honestly yes if I could get a shockingly good deal on it. I have my own massive problems with the Xerjoff company and their data security and customer service, but their packaging is the best in the business and the bottles are some of the most attractive on a shelf. But at full price...::laughs in exaggerated sarcastic niche snob:: sorry no. Xerjoff did this far better with Lira and I’d buy that first every time.

Alas what could have been a love is just a like. Unfortunately this one just doesn’t work well with my nose. I could hardly smell anything off my skin, and what I could get from the clothing spray was way too light. Albeit it was a very lovely combo of peach and iris. To use this I probably will have to overspray it and as is it’s already so costly. Sigh!

too sweetish cloying to my taste! peachy vanilla with irisial Ylang Ylang blends! bursting out the cloyingness using the freshness that you can get from citrus notes. no sandalwood, no jasmine, no patchouli, no vetiver, and definitely no musk. the bottle is just amazing but the fragrance is not.

Note: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Peach, Ylang-ylang, Jasmine de Grasse, Orris, Black pepper, Patchouli, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Labdanum, Vanilla beans, Musk. XXY smells good, sometimes that is enough, sometimes it is not. At these prices, I honestly demand for more than simply a good smelling fragrance. Creativity (not there), uniqueness (not there), amazing drydown (not there. Woody amber anyone?). The fragrance opens with a nice fruity/citrus combo immediately joined by a consistent dose of iris while jasmine remarks its presence firmly yet gently. So far, so good...Pepper breaks in and together with vetiver and patchouli provides a masculine twist that turns the initial feminine accord into something pleasantly androgynous. A strong deja-vu feeeling starts to materialize in my mind...Don't ask me why but I start to think about Coromandel, about L'Instand De Guerlain Pour Homme and, more in general, I think about Guerlain, Chanel...wait, a chypre without oakmoss, 31 Rue Cambon...Ok, just kidding, XXY shares (almost) nothing with the aforementioned fragrances but, at the same time, it's the classic type of composition that makes you think about something else...it's familiar (as opposed to unique). After a couple of hours, the party get spoiled by the usual woody amber drydown. Now, my point is this: why we should splurge our money for an (overall) average quality fragrance? In an hypothetical world where fragrances could be compared to music, XXY would be just like an extremely talented musician releasing a new record made only of cover versions of trite songs and charging you for the full retail price. I came to the conclusion that every country has its own "Creed". In italy we have Xerjoff. Do yourself a favour, get a vintage Guerlain. Rating: 6.5/10

Very regal scent! Smells like it’s for a queen or king! High quality patchouli and Mysore sandalwood are heavily dosed under neath a bed of peachy aldehydes and makeupy iris! It’s a ❤️ for me! All the ingredients are of an extreme high quality, and this perfume is very intimate it sits close to the skin but smells amazing!!!

On my skin this is a heavy patch scent with a good dose of candied peach and black pepper. Actually it reminds me a little bit of Gucci Rush. I don't know...it's overpriced and not so original.

I like it. Strangely it reminds me of Tom Ford Black Orchid Parfum in the dry down. Not the same but similar. Unisex but leaning slightly masculine to my nose with the animalic notes.
