When I got Neon Sunset for my husband, I got this for myself as well. I ignored negative comments and trusted the brand and I'm glad I did. It smells so good! I'm so happy to have found a popcorn scented perfume that actually nails the popcorn scent without going overboard. It's the most appetizing aspects of a Coca-Cola slushie and popcorn. You're literally in a clean but clearly packed movie theater and I'm having a blast. Yes, the longevity is there. It's Xyrena! You don't have to guess.

If you think this sounds like an alluring smell, think again. The purpose here is not the usual compliment factor or smelling clean or anything. Here you want to smell straight up like popcorn and cinema carpets. Welcome back to Blockbuster. It is a splendid smell, very realistic and nostalgic but it is mostly meant as a joke and not for ordinary daily wearings. This is super great but almost unwearable. Mostly for collectors and the VHS packaging is superb. Netflix and Thrill.

Completely unique. Smells exactly like a Blockbuster or a cinema. Popcorn, cola, candies and even a pinch of that detergeant they put rugs in these places. It's kind of a time capsule, oddity fragrance but it's not really wearable.

Xyrena is one of the funniest and creative fragrance makers around today. Cinemaniac is true to its name, buttery popcorn is the first note that I picked up. After awhile I smell a sweet soda or gummy candy scent. It says there is licorice. I hate the licorice smell, but I do not notice it at all. Really nice. More feminine than I would usually wear.

I was so excited to get this sample in the mail today! Let me start by saying that this is definitely a unique fragrance. I pick up on all the notes, with the Coca-Cola and buttered popcorn hitting my nose first, followed by the licorice, and lastly the bread (which is described as soft pretzel on the Xyrena website.) Unfortunately, along with all those awesome notes there is another very loud, obnoxious note that is not listed... perfumed disinfectant. Not kidding, that's what it smells like. It seriously overwhelms the other notes, thus making me envision a bathroom at the cinema, rather than the concession area/theater room itself. While I believe the idea for this fragrance is nothing short of awesome, the juice just doesn't do it justice, sadly.

If this is what a Blockbuster smells like I'm glad I'm not American. The blast of artificial butter punched me in the nose, then a gentle cola and musty carpet came to console me. As I begged for them to stay, the butter grabbed me by the ankles and dragged me into a vat of oversteeped vape liquid. Taking my final breath before drowning in diacetyl, I realised it didn't even smell like corn.

I finally got my hands on this after years of yearning for it, and after all this time I can finally attest that this smells TERRIBLE. And I LOVE it. The minute I cracked open the (wonderful, creepy, nostalgic) VHS case I'm hit with the nauseating scent of old movie theatre seats - you know the ones from the 90's that don't recline and half the velvet has rubbed off? It's almost like someone sealed the doors right after a friday night showing of Scream in 1996 and upon entering the room 23 years later you get a huge whiff of stale butter, salt, and a sickly sweet puddle of old coca-cola that your shoe gets stuck in. The bread note follows suit and really drives home the unwearability of this perfume. I can never wear this out (and start to feel a little sick if the scent gets on my fingers when I'm showing it to a friend but I'll treasure it always. 10/10.

Stale, burnt popcorn lightly flavoured with disinfectant. Like the inside of a trash can at a state fair, or the built-up grime on 90's neon arcade carpets. Cinema seats that have been wiped down, but never properly cleaned. I will give it props in that it does, indeed, smell like the movies - and like the packaging promises, firmly of the "b-grade slasher flick" genre - but I'm echoing everyone here in that this is unwearable. Transportive, and I'm glad I tried it, but unwearable. The fragrance itself just feels rough - sharp and chemical, with a weird plastic note that underlines the whole thing. Arguably the plastic works in the context of what it's trying to deliver, but on skin it just turns sour and "off". Would work as a room spray for when you really want your home theatre to feel authentic.

I got this fragrance for the packaging and concept (I love film and I love the artwork) The scent itself is true to what you'd smell in a movie theater. Xyrena is spot on with this fragrance. It's very sweet, a bit salty, and while I get a lot of the popcorn and licorice, all of the notes blend together so well, overall, to create a smell that is so unique to movie theaters. Will I wear it a lot? Mot likely not, but it's a very interesting scent that is worth having for the concept alone.

Go to the website, touch SHOP for a drop-down menu, 3rd one down the list says samples. If you click that, they offer samples of everything but it's $10 for 3ml (You can buy the 50ml bottle of this for $46) so you really have to think "Would I rather have 5x3ml=15ml samples for $50 or one 50ml fragrance for $46? It would be nice if they could offer a discovery set like Atelier or L'Artisan...

Interesting novelty niche fragrance. Smells EXACTLY like the movie theater although I'm not getting any cola. All xyrena fragrances are extrait concentration and this one in particular has some of the strongest performance. Warning: you will project popcorn butter like crazy 😄 Perfect wear to the theater or Comic-Con.
