Xyrena 66

Starts off with a smooth, not fully realistic gasoline accord, but rather, combined with a 1:1 ratio, with some type of lubricating oil you’d expect used in a car. Rather, instead of gasoline, it’s motor oil combined with the lube. The leather here is rather abstract, and the rather sharp edge the motor oil gives, you can interpret this as also having a faint petrichor facet as well. Maybe you’re doing an oil change with lube stained tools at night on the lot. For wearability, this definitely matches the "avant-garde" description in the website--even though I've never smelled Nostalgia by Santa Maria Novella, which supposedly is at least in the opening, realistic gasoline. My impression on Nostalgia from numerous testimonies is that it gets the gasoline accord mainly from the styrax, petitgrain, and bergamot, which can be quite a blow to the olfactory senses to a car/leather junkie. In this sense, it's the motor oil+lubricant/WD-40-esque accord done similarly, but pretty linear. I'm a big fan of petrol accords, so this hits the sweet spot. It's not a weirdly misplaced sweet petrol you might get from Froggy's Fog scents, but done photorealistically. I would have been OK with a diesel accord from it, but it smelled like something you shouldn't be smelling, which made me a bit nauseous, rather than "Gasoline" (Froggy's Fog). + 1 * Gasoline -> 100/100 Bullseye.

What an interesting fragrance. I keep saying I hate it but can't stop sniffing my wrists. The first few minutes will give you a low octane, clean motor oil scent with leather finishing it off. After an hour or two, the gasoline and motor oil fades to the point where it's difficult to tell what it is without knowing beforehand, and the leather becomes the main smell. It's the scent of a soft, worn leather seat which I find very comforting. Xyrena 66 is labeled as a perfume in Xyrena's "Virtual Reality" line. I find that label accurate as it really does take me to another place where the scents of cars on a hot road are first in my mind. I think that to enjoy it, you may need to get rid of the idea that perfumes are supposed to be sweet smelling, floral olfactory experiences. If you enjoy the scents that this fragrances is based off of, I can't imagine you won't like it, even if it takes you a little while. I only have a sample of the perfume. At first I was glad I hadn't purchased a large bottle, but now I think I may have to buy the full size from the company. I have the perfect love/hate relationship with this one.

It smells more of caustic plastic or some kind of solvent with notes of the leather of an old car, it all resembles the smell of gasoline but not quite it, it’s still an interesting perfume, but you won’t wear it all the time of course.

Leathery and motor oil as described, I almost get a little asphalt, but maybe I’m getting too into the visuals of the name. Less wearable than Neon Sunset, yet still balanced.

First immediate impressions; ocean? Water, maybe the air by a large body of water? And now I’m getting chlorine, or perhaps bleach. That’s basically what I’m getting for the first minutes. Someone said Wilson’s Leather and I guess I can see it if I try hard enough. It’s not in a good way though, like cheap fake leather. No gas, no oil. Perhaps I’m nose blind to it’s composition that recreates leather and motor, but I don’t think so. In my opinion, this is more power of suggestion than actual recreation.

Decommissioned in '85, it has the nostalgic charisma of James Dean racing along in his Porsche 550 Spyder. Xyrena 66 is the olfactory equivalent of that Porsche new car smell. Opens with leather interior featuring a soupcon of gasoline fumes, a smidgen of oil, and a whiff of plastic. Drydown is best leather-new car smell ever! It promises the excitement of the open road - wind in your hair, driving gloves snapped, and beautiful scenery flying by. I loved the leathery adventure! This is a wearable concept perfume done well!

They lied when they said this was "very wearable." This is a scent I almost NEVER reach for because it's just so... odd. I had to get it because I live almost right on Route 66 and I love gasoline and motor smells but it's sort of collecting dust in my perfume drawer. It's very much what it says it is. Also light on the gasoline and heavy on the leather car interior, which ends up being sort of plasticky. It's also more unisex than I expected? I very much thought it would be hyper masculine but it sort of has a feminine twist. It might be the slightly fruity quality of plastic/leather notes, I don't know. I like it but it's not for everyone and it's not for every day. Update: After sitting for about a year it now smells COMPLETELY different. The gasoline is completely gone and it just smells like straight up plastic. Not good.

I gave my mother a whiff of Xyrena 66 and she said it smells like stepping into Wilson's Leather. I agree. There's a synthetic/chemical scent in the heart of this frag that cannot be immediately identified as gasoline, but then it finishes with a pleasant, woodsy scent that is actually quite nice. There's also a little hint of petrichor, the kind of urban petrichor that smells more like wet-cardboard than a fresh forest or whatever people are describing as petrichor these days. I'm not sure I'd wear it, but it's delicious and accurate. Probably the most accurate Xyrena fragrance I've sampled so far.

Xyrena 66 reminds me in some ways of a fragrance website used to push political propaganda. It's unfortunate to see the owners of the site treat it the way Ukrainian forces treated the Moskva.
