Baroque

I used to have big bottle of it and used it all up. It is absolutely beautiful perfume, happy and elegant, bright, not sweet, but warm, ambery and woody with mood lifting citruses. During white winter it performes even better! I was searching for another bottle to buy everywhere and no luck. Few days ago I found someone was selling bulk of perfumes from closet and there was small bottle of Baroque among them. Well, long story short I got it today :) Amazing fragrance! Love it even today after 12 years of searching.

So 90s and so beautiful. I love apricot scents and this one does apricot so well. At first there is nothing baroque about it whatsoever, It reminds me of Ill Baccio at first (the same syrupy fruit with aquatics) but then it dries down to a heavenly jasmine sandalwood orange blossom similar to an old favourite D&G (red cap) and also like Samsara but without the headache I get from Samsara. Beautiful fragrance created by a great perfumer and very good quality.

I used to love this when I was a teenager. Its a comforting warm ambery smell.

Absolutely has nothing to do with LouLou or Poison, as it is not heavy at all. I would describe Baroque as bright,happy and juicy...the amber note is absolutely beautiful. Think along the lines of original Incanto by Ferragamo but with a lot more depth and complexity. I feel like the name and the add are too grand for this fragrance, as it is very easy going and flirty. Very natural smelling with great sillage and longevity, and totally wearable in warmer weather.

Fragrance Review For Baroque Yardley Notes Orange Mandarin Apricot Freesia Syringa Middle Notes Jasmine Stephanotis Peony Base Notes Amber Musk Sandalwood Baroque is a beauty! This lovely perfume suffered discontinuation and what a crying shame. It was one of my favorite spring scents and was briefly popular in the mid 90's, around 1996. I sold perfumes over the counter at many a store and this was one of those lovely floral and amber perfumes that pleased most everyone. Baroque opens with some citrus notes of mandarin, fresh and quite fruity, intensified with an apricot nectar. It is of course nothing original and innovative for a 90's fragrance. This was in the same league as the fruity florals that were in vogue - Tresor by Lancôme, Volupte by Oscar de La Renta and Deci Dela by Nina Ricci. It does not smell like any of those scents but it does have the same type of body. Baroque's floral notes are white in their theme. There is plenty of sweet jasmine, freesia and stephanotis, and perhaps other collective smells of white florals that are not being listed. There is also a distinct orange blossom scent. That has got to be the rare floral essence of syringe. That one note makes it a winner for me. It smells European and Baroque as in from the Baroque period. I picture an opera singer who performs Handel opera and has to spritz not only her body with white floral sweet perfume but even her mouth, so that her singing can come off as apricot syrupy as this perfume. White flowers, apricot syrup, citrus, and a dry down of Oriental notes of sandalwood, amber and light musk. This is not a heavy Oriental but rather a lighter textured Floriental. It's mor fruity floral than it is Oriental but it does have that dry down found in some Orientals with really fine amber and sandalwood. That amber note holds everything together and smells like a drink. God I wish I could drink amber, don't you? This perfume is safe as a fragrance because if it weren't, I'd be hooked on drinking it. A sweet and feminine summer time scent. It's day wear and in fact I once wore it to a vacation in Ibiza. A light and very likeable scent. It's probably selling at some rummage sale somewhere or of course ebay. So if you like the way this perfume sounds on paper try it out even if you have to buy it blindly. Just know that it is a 90's fruity floral with amber tones. Nothing about it is dark, dry or mysterious. Nothing about it is unisex or masculine. She is a very pleasant lilting voice caressed by musical notes and heady with white flowers & amber notes that bring her to the height of feminine sweetness the likes of which because of our modern and far from the 90's type of perfumes, we'll never see again. Please bring back this perfume.
