This discontinued gem is a fabulous. Lavender and sandalwood are what I detect the most. Originally labelled Yardley and finally Lentheric. Ignore the Mayfair version. Interesting I sprayed Acqua di Parma Sandalo in the shop yesterday and the eventual dry down to me is identical to vintage Yardley Black Label. The note breakdown is actually quite similar in some ways.

I have good news...Phoenix Shaving “The Watcher” is a solid homage to the original, the bottle has a Doctor Who theme, little knod to the Brits and Yardley. Worth checking out, very nice. Vintage in style, but classy. It’s dry woods with musk and sandalwood radiating in the dry down. It has a powdery scent at the base as well giving it that old school feel. Not similar to Canoe, can’t speak on the other smells like references though. It’s really quite nice IMO and Phoenix in general is just awesome, Highly recommend.

One of the very first "after shaves" I purchased in 1979 aged fourteen...I think if there'd been a war on, and I was around, I'd have probably worn it, but there wasn't, it was the late seventies and I just left it in its box in a drawer and moved on...

I bought this in a drugstore (aka chemist) in London in 1988. I wish it was more available in the states. It is very clean, manly, loaded with wonderful lavender and spice. A wonderful and hard to find gem!

I have to say my dad wore this and it smelt real fresh and clean and like a man.
