Elegant Iris

I’ve bought this one because I was curious about the iris smell. I didn’t know irises were scented. In fact, after a bit of research, it turns out the flowers are only barely scented, and it’s the roots rather than flowers that are used in perfumery. So the iris is aromatic rather than floral. The heart of this fragrance seems to be giving me an idea of what it’s like, because there’s a distinct scent in the mid tier that is not freesia, jasmine or wild rose, which are also part of the bouquet. And this scent is invigorating. I definitely feel green notes early on and would love if the opening notes held longer, but the fragrance transitions rather too soon into powdery soapiness. It’s a good kind of soapiness (unlike when one tastes soap). It expresses morning freshness and looking forward to what good a new bright day may bring. Powderiness in my mind associates with the expensive Lancôme compact powder I used to use decades ago. It’s a positive concept to me. This fragrance seems to be well composed as the three tiers chime beautifully. I decided to blind buy another one of Yardley’s Flowerful Collection because I liked Decadent Mimosa that much. Elegant Iris is not similar to anything I’ve got to this point, and I’m glad to have it. Unlike the previous reviewer, I would not describe this as a fruity perfume at all. At the beginning, there was only very momentarily a sweetness of the red fruits (supposedly). That’s about it. This fragrance is bracing, not floral, not sweet. Best suited for when one is out for a brisk walk on a sunny and cool morning.

Plain and simple floral, with Iris starring. Everyday fragrance. Inoffensive. Agreeable to my nose. Very English.

I don't get much green here and it is slightly Iris/Violette with alot of fruity sweetness. I wasn't looking for another fruity perfume, instead, a cooler iris, but it is not bad at all though it it very fleeting.
