Polaire

Polaire è un gioiellino. poco costoso, assai simile ad altri accordi piuttosto cari, gioca intorno alle note, abbondantemente esplorate, di rosa e patchouli. ma lo fa con grazia ed eleganza, assestandosi via via su un fondo fruttato di pera e resinoso di ambra. non si tratta certo di un profumo complesso, ma per chi voglia avere un'idea di come la rosa venga potenziata dal patchouli, senza spendere un accidente, questa è la soluzione. buono.

This is remarkably similar to Penhaligon's Iris Prima. I did a blind test with my piano pupils this evening, and though admittedly they have untrained noses (as do I!) none could tell the difference. Delighted as this was £8 in boots today compared to Penhaligon's £120!

This is warm, seductive, sensuous and very beautiful. A ravishingly lovely scent.

Blind buy and pleasant surprise. BUT WARNING! Give it some time. Nice packaging but the cap is a very cheap plastic shaped diamond. At this price, it's ok. At first spray, it smells exactly like L'Oréal Elnett hair spray. On the one hand it's terrible because nobody wants to have such a strong synthetic scent but on the other hand it's wonderful because it reminds me of my late grandmother who would only wear Elnett. About 10-15 mins later this scent transformed into something beautiful. Warm, soft powdery patchouli mixed with delicate roses. Smells exactly like one of those vintage perfume bottles my grandmother would have in her cabinet. THIS scent doesn't surround you like any other. It's like you are on a cloud and a soft breeze takes you away. The name Polaire is strange. This perfume is warm, not cold. It's sensitive, not harsh. I understand though, that it's warmness is for cooler weather. Very feminine, dreamy-like, vintage-like perfume to wear every day. A little bit sweet at times. This perfume is also reserved/shy/timid as its sillage is rather on the weak side but its longevity is on the moderate side. For me, its charming and gentle effect on me is unique. Just give it time like a rose need time to bloom.

I blind bought Polaire based on the description and reviews here on Fragrantica. I thought to myself- "How bad can it be? At this price I can afford an experiment." I am really glad I did! This is a very feminine scent but not in a vanilla/cloying way that many 'feminine' fragrances are designed today. It really captures the idea of vintage beauty. It opens with a zippy little hit of freesia and pear but settles very quickly into the base notes of patchouli and amber rounded out by rose. This is not a hippie patchouli. This fragrance is very gentle and quiet. When I smell it, I can visualize a pale pink, cashmere sweater. The sillage is minimal. I sprayed twice on my wrists less than an hour ago but you can only smell it if you are close. Longevity is pretty good considering the price point and I don't mind re-spraying after about 4 hours. I think this is a good all-round fragrance if you want something that is gentle and traditionally feminine. With its minimal sillage, you could wear this to an office and not bother your co-workers. This would also be a good choice for a quiet day/evening at home relaxing in a pale pink cashmere sweater.

I find Polaire to be a soft, sweet and comforting scent. It is superbly linear by which I mean it stays the same from beginning to end with no disintegration. For me, linear scents work only if they are very well blended, and this one is. The patchouli is more sweet (tiny bit minty?) rather than earthy. The resins and balsm notes are sweet also, rather than smokey or incensey. The amber is powdery, the pear is juicy. The floral notes meld together with the other notes and the pepper and ginger are subtle. I would describe the sweetness of this fragrance more akin to nectar rather than sugar. It has a natural delicate sweetness. A very harmonious scent which I think works best in cooler temperatures. Lasts longer on clothes.

I just got this fragrance after reading the description of it on Yardley's website and ordered it on Amazon. I was feeling nostalgic for oh de london that I wore along with my yardly pot o gloss, which was the best lipgloss ever. Wish they would bring that gloss back. Initially when I sprayed this fragrance on I didn't like it. There is no fruity floral on me but within about 5 minutes I liked it. It's more of a soft powdery patchouli on me. Not what I typically wear but it's growing on me. It reminds me of a scent I've smelled before but I can't figure it out just yet.

OMG! I'm obsessed! It smells like raisins macerating in rum. I'm surprised that no one picked this up as this was my first thought when I smelled it: Raisins in rum. Very light and subdued (meaning that it's not a beast mode heavy hitter), but it's definitely there. I love that kind of smell. I blind bought this perfume and I'm so happy that I bought it. I bought it for £6.99. It's brilliant.

Damned impressive little fragrance!! I'm astounded that this is so beautiful. If I were to describe this perfume I would say that it is quiet and gentle. Initially this opens with an attractive pear note, not the sort of sweet fruity pear, but one which is shy and hides behind the freesia. It develops into to a heart of rose and although there is pepper and ginger, I wouldn't describe this as a spicy perfume. The base is a wonderful mix of sweet vanilla and patch which is toned down by the woodyness of the resins. I'm astounded that this scent is so cheap because the price tag does not reflect the absolute beauty and quality of this perfume. Thoroughly lovely, classy and refined experience, which I would say is more of a skin scent or something one would wear when 'loud' is not on the agenda for the day. If I were to compare it to a fragrance house, I would say that it's along the lines of 'Philosophy' I advise fellow perfumista's to look at the notes and give this baby a chance because it's ravishing!!

I bought the 50mL bottle as a blind buy from Boots for £9.99. Given the price point, it's actually a good value, impressive fragrance. I tend to be a fruity chypre girl but I was convinced to purchase this fragrance by Yardley's website description of it as a "floral chypre." I get the soft, powdery florals with a balsamic note but it is a fleeting scent. I tend to spritz it on myself before bedtime and follow it up with a small spritz of Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely (which has a note of lavender in it). I'm usually so relaxed after a few minutes of meditation and deep breathing, that I fall asleep straight away!

This is rather shy and understated. It just looks like a wee bottle of water too. But it is lovely in a close and subtle way . Very nicely blended so no one note is too loud but it changes gracefully from its floral opening and settles into its base notes in a soft harmonious way. The fruity notes add a little texture and warmth I think. A great everyday scent to spread a gentle contentment to all around you.

Yardley Polaire is a soft "makeup" scent. Very pleasant and calming. The patchouli in this is very mild, as is the ginger note. Very well blended.

It is very soft and nice, but it does not last at all!!! Barerly 1 hour ...and its gone.

Nice, just give it some more time to evolve on your skin.
