Yohji Yamamoto Femme

Blind test thoughts: Green tea with some fruits citruses and amazing tart, herbal and even savory notes that somehow remind me of Womanity by Mugler. Soft slightly powdery dry down. My reaction to this was "Woow niiice", I just love heliotrope note. It has elegant, feminine, a bit melancholic vibe, the way L'Heure Bleu does, but in a bit more modern way. I love to smell this way.

I nearly love this gem. It is so subtle, so feminine and it projects nicely yet it is spring-safe. Iris, jasmin, lily-of-the-valley, pear and sandalwood. And a bit of black currant and musk. It is mostly floral, but with great support. Well blended. The start is Champs Elysses like, but it changes after half an hour into a scent of its own.

Nice summer scent, sweet and powdery. Reminded me of the Trussardi My Name a little, same kind of sweet powder, but just not that sweet and more sophisticated. Warm and soft, stays close to the skin, not offensive scent. Great for summer or spring.

It's very close to the original one. If you don't want to spend $150-200 on a risky quality 2004. version, buy the new one, it's 95% the same.

This was a blind buy and is the WEAKEST thing I have ever purchased. I have very fond memories of Yohji (1996) (beast!) and would never have guessed this wimpy scent came from the same house.

Yohji Yamamoto pour Femme was one of the fragrances in a bunch of company samples I got at a secondhand shop. There was no way to tell whether this was the 2004 or the 2013 fragrance of the same name, so I’m placing my review under both versions, in the hope someone with experience in either of the two will help me identify the edition that smells like this. My sample opens on a woody, herbal, slightly bitter aromatic, note that reminds me very much of how my fingers smell after handling the many varieties of oregano and sage in my garden. The fragrance develops into a lightly woody, slightly vanillic, somewhat floral scent that evokes the smell of paper, back in the day, before computers, when the school-girl me had been writing (for hours) with a ballpoint pen and was slightly mesmerized by my handiwork. It is a refined, super-exclusive scent that has the hallmark of niche. The dry-down has a similarity to that of Laura by Laura Biagiotti, or Hugo Boss Hugo Woman (1997). In a word: GORGEOUS.

Really soft and light, but in some perfumes this is a good thing. This is a spring floral to my nose, loads of heliotrope, iris and pear are just supporting notes. Dries down a musky sandalwood with purple florals still lingering. I do wish the florals were more pronounced for a longer time..
