Ambre Bleue

Ambre Bleue is a unique scent. Spicy and resinous, this fragrance is both warm and inviting and cool and bracing. The coolness comes in particular from the ambergris, which is of a noticeably high quality. It brings to my mind long train journeys and getting lost in new, strange places. The longevity of Ambre Bleue is the best I've tried from Ys Uzac -- I put it on one morning and can still smell it the next. The sillage is moderate however -- so, though it will be noticed by those near you, it is not overwhelming by any means. The tones come off as spiritual yet secular. The journey is mysterious, exuberant, and restrained. A very intelligent scent that seems to emanate control and daring. This is the scent I have been looking for and I hadn't even known it! Best used in colder months, for sure.

First impression.. true cardamom, fresh, sweet resinous aromatic and spicy with a kind of bitter rubbery aftertaste. A clear salty genuine ambergris is coming through but so far the star player is cardamom. This is seriously interesting. It might be the composition of notes.. perhaps the suede note, there is something rubbery here that I find enchanting. It is the kind of earthy, slightly fruity rubber that some high quality vetivers have. I feel not just blue but in my perception probably more green/yellow. Wonderful, ..and this is only the first half our in. Really something different. An hour later.. I get an enormous flashback of Tom Ford Oud Wood and then Voyage d'Hermes. Complete with images and emotions from years ago when I owned those fragrances. When this reaction in my brain to Ambre Bleue settles I keep getting that rubber that is also in Tom Fords Oud Wood. I now looked up the two scents and indeed.. it is the high quality cardamom these fragrances have in common. Then Ambre Bleue moves away from that Oud Wood moment in my perception and I realize that there is indeed no oud or wood that compliments the cardamom but a kind of light brown soft suede. Again very genuine, I can see and feel my dads soft suede jacket that he used to wear when I was a child. Ambre Bleue is crazy good, confident strong and handsome in the first hour. I am curious how it will develop over the next hours.
