Théros Elixir

When various extraordinary artists assemble to create something remarkable, now isn’t that something to behold? When you create a truly outstanding olfactory work, unlike anything else, you have to immortalize it. That’s what a true artist would do. And that is how Theros Elixir came to be. I only know of a few other such manifests in the realm of perfumery, like the BOGUE projects, Gardelia, and AG. But this takes it to a whole other level, unprecedented. This collaboration was truly insane. The amount of time and work that went into making the colored glass flacons, the special engravings, the sourcing of materials, and, of course, the avant-garde sur mesure perfume to match conductor Teodor Currentzis and Vincent Micotti’s vision. Theros, the perfume, is one of my most cherished olfactory works, most worn, and closest to what a collector would hypothetically name a signature scent. It is unlike anything I have tried or that I can accurately approximate. This Elixir version takes the experience to new heights (or should I say depths?), with the emphasis being placed on the extraordinary Vietnamese oud that Vincent Micotti has selected as the muse of his composition. With the perfume, I always felt that the oud was not allowed to fully express itself among the many other materials, with ambergris taking over the dry-down. Here, this incredibly unique and multifaceted oud oil dictates the arrangement while all other parts orbit around it, supporting and highlighting its innate facets. It smells like a museum, like a piece of history, or perhaps a historical piece of music. One that comes to mind is Wagner’s Das Rheingold, although I know Teodor is an acknowledged Beethoven admirer. IG:@memory.of.scents
