Ambre Noir

THE STRANGE CASE OF DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE I quite like beauty chain shops. Since airport boarding has become (even) more complicated, with weight limitations on hold luggage and liquid limitations on hand luggage, I have gotten into the habit of not carrying any perfume with me when travelling by plane. This way I justify buying a few more fragrances during the trip. When they exist in that city, I always pay at least one visit, either to a L'Erbolario or a Yves Rocher shop. An hour of carefree browsing in one of these shops is always a pleasure, and a nice occasion to discover some novelty or even to finally spot a fragrance that I referenced some time ago. This is exactly what happened in November 2022, during my umpteenth visit to Florence and Rome. I didn't miss the opportunity to spend some time in Profvmvm Roma and Santa Maria Novella shops where I pampered myself with some gems from those houses. However, all my Christmas presents were really purchased at L'Erbolario and Yves Rocher. I secretly hoped to at least find some bottles of "Dolcelisir" and "Secrets d'Essences - Vanille Noire", which have been discontinued for some time now. I wasn't lucky in my expectations, but I came across a shelf full of "Ambre Noir" at Yves Rocher. I had been wanting to retry this perfume for some time. The name is suggestive to me as I like dark fragrances and amber in particular. Some haste and the low price justified a blind purchase without further delay and so I added another typical "designer perfume" to my collection. Yves Rocher's "Ambre Noir" from the Yves Rocher Pour Homme Collection, seems to be a typical commercial woody amber. It performs sufferably, due to a low concentration, and shows a not-very-high spiciness. It seemed that in this deal I only received a fair return for the low price I paid. However, this opinion of mine only portrays the fragrance opening and little else. When in a shop someone tests it on a paper strip or even on skin, he or she will probably not get a different opinion from mine. Unlike other reviewers, I don't consider this fragrance to be linear. When the citrus together with a faint acetylene facet disappears, and while the patchouli, vetiver, and lavender mellow out, the fragrance takes on the promised semi-dark amber and earthy facet heavily flavoured with tonka, vanilla, and cedar, along with the leathery violet note which now is not very prominent. The perfume transfigures and reveals a striking resemblance to "CH Men Privé", besides promising a certain closeness to "Le Vestiaire - Tuxedo" and "Moustache". Now yes, I could conclude that the blind purchase was worthy. You just have to wait for the base development at the. However, I don't think anyone waits half an hour, or more, in a shop to find this "second" Ambre Noir, which is completely hidden behind the "first" Ambre Noir. For the development purists, a "third" Amber Noir shows up in the early dry-down when the leathery violet leaf disappears and the scent pushes towards a sweeter ambary and vanillic aroma. How can I numerically evaluate this fragrance? ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ - Scent opening: 5.5 (Faint citrus, prominent amber and patchouli, and an intrusive coriaceous note of violet leaf similar to the famous petrol chord existing in "Fahrenheit (Eau de Toilette) | Dior"). - Base and Dry-down: 9.0 (Very warm and comfortable amber-leather-tonka-vanilla scent evolving to just amber-tonka-vanilla). - Longevity: 5.5 (4 hours with 3 sprays). - Sillage: 5.5 (one arm's length with 1.0 hours of projection). - Versatility: 9.0 (At leisure, office, daily use, indoor or outdoor events, a night out, a romantic evening... Not a 10 because you'll have to respray on many occasions). - Usability: 9.0 (due to its low sillage you can even try to use it on hot summer days). - Compliments: 6.5 (My compliments would only happen during the base and drying phase). - Uniqueness: 6.5 (A handful of upscale designer fragrances can be associated with this fragrance). - Quality: 6.5 (Quality evaluation influenced by underperformance plus the synthetic opening facet with acetylene/gasoline smell; some people love it but not me). - Presentation: 7.0 (The usual traditional and simple design of the Yves Rocher For Men collection). - Price: 9.0 (100ml bottle for €21.5 during Black Friday week, offering an "Ambre Noir" shower gel as well). ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ Average: 7,18/10.0 between 7 and 8 => slightly above average; between 8 and 9 => recommended; greater than or equal to 9 => not to be missed; My opinion: I looked for a low-priced amber fragrance during a trip and found it. I probably wouldn't buy it under normal circumstances. However, I must point out that the fragrance's base and dry-dow have a better scent than the average of other "amber noir" on the market. This perfume is multipurpose enough to please "Fahrenheit" lovers (which I am not) during the top and heart phases. Looking at the perfume evolution as a whole, I can consider it as a cheaper alternative to "CH Men Privé" and, to a lesser extent, to "Moustache" and "YSL Le Vestiaire - Tuxedo". I had Voile d'Ambre by Yves Rocher, but this one is much better. An amber accord with something medicinal in the best possible way, wonderful! And it might sound strange, but this one reminds me of Reminiscence Pour Homme. It shares the medicinal quality with L'Eau D'Issey Ambre Noir, also by Christophe Raynaud, three years later. On the test strip, they smell identical, and on the skin, the Yves Rocher is stronger and the L'Eau D'Issey is a bit more leathery. No one smells like this anymore, but I'm very happy with this one. P.S. It definitely doesn't smell like The One for Men Dolce & Gabbana, because that one is soapy, which this one is not at all. - Ik had Voile d'Ambre van Yves Rocher, maar deze is veel beter. Een amber akkoord met iets medicinaals op de best mogelijke manier, heerlijk! En het klinkt misschien vreemd, maar deze doet me denken aan Reminiscence Pour Homme. Het deelt het medicinale met L'Eau D'Issey Ambre Noir 3 jaar later ook van Christophe Raynaud. Op de teststrook ruiken ze identiek en op de huid is de Yves Rocher sterker en de L'eau D'Issey iets leerachtiger. Niemand ruikt nog zo, maar ik ben heel blij met deze. Ps ruikt absoluut niet naar The One for Men Dolce&Gabbana, want die is zepig, wat deze totaal niet is.

Never judge a perfume by its bottle (D&G rip off, as a lot of people already said) or its opening. So true with this one ! The opening is ... bad. Just bad. I mean. What the heck ? All the notes are unstructured and they all explode to your nose like a real mess. But... WAIT ! 30 minutes later, more or less, here comes the majestic of this scent. Lavender and Patchouli are so useless in this one... They spoil the opening so badly and then go away. (And trust me, I love lavender and patchouli usually, but here, they are so loud and obnoxious...) Once those 2 beasts are killed, the amber and the vetiver, so deep, so powerful and smoked, almost austere (but surprisingly calm and subtle, bewitching and mysterious, not that manly one you smell so often in another perfumes) come in duet. And *ding*... You understand what is it called Ambre Noir. Yes it's ambery, it's dark, it's like the bewitching charm of darkness. You can't see it, you know it's dangerous, but this is so comforting that you're attracted to this diaphanous aura. Oh and, longevity and sillage are, as usual with YR, just enough to not disturb anyone but makes it present, like an atmosphere, the specialty of this house !

I smelled this after blind buying a 50ml + shower gel gift set on a whim - I totally get the comparisons to Rogue Man, CH Men Prive and The One EDT (of which I also own all of lol). Another strong similarity that I haven't seen mentioned is Givenchy Gentleman Only and it's perhaps most well known clone/twist in Armaf's Just For You Pour Homme... I don't remember what GO smells like but I do own JFY and there's a very strong similarity between the two. I always thought JFY was extremely similar to CH Men Prive too, so that's probably the strongest comparison for this.. CHMP with a bit of the fizziness (in the words of our own Eddie Bulliqi lol) and herbal twist on top from Rogue Man, some of the smoothness and light sweetness of The One, with the most striking resemblance being to CHMP/JFY/possibly GO I think. This is a very good fragrance overall and I'm glad I bought it - performance seems to be an issue but it's cheap and fine to simply overspray.

Now this is NOT what I expected... According to the notes and the name I expected something to be like Obsession and so. Instead of that you get a very well blended masculine fragrance with a burst of vetiver & lavender in the opening, which makes it very fresh/clean smelling. When is softens down the vetiver is still present but gets more in line with the other notes. Actually, when they would have put some benzoin in here, it would smell more 'complete'. When I first put it on it made me think of Rocabar, but side to side you smell the difference in complexity. Nevertheless this is the most mature/masculine scent from Yves Rocher.

Aromatic with a fruity vetiver opening. Once that opening gives way to the heart you are left with something not dissimilar to Rochas Moustache EdP, perhaps a tad less powdery and without the slight peppery edge of Moustache’s mid-phase. By default that means there is a certain Tuxedo-esque vibe going on too. Again, to reach that aspect of this scent you need to get through the fruity-vetiver-patch-minty opening....but that is not exactly a hardship. All in all a good cheapie and no brainer reach. Prices are also very low for what you are getting. Very low, because it is a very respectable fragrance.

This is a gem I instantly fell in love with. Gifted it for my husband, along with two other Yves Rocher fragrances. of course I had to nick a sniff of all three. Ambre Noir is what I singled out of them. The amber is just right, not too strong it's off-putting. Could also pick out some tonka but not much of the vetiver. Marketed as a masculine scent but I feel I can rock this as well. All in all it's a wonderful scent. Just disappointed with its lack of longevity. On me it turns into a skin scent within a couple of hours.

Three Yves Rocher smells I like – one of them is Ambre Noir, the others Cuir Vetiver and Comme une evidence – the advantages Yves Rocher gives is that you can buy for a reduced price a decent scent – Ambre Noir is a decent smell I wear regularly at the office, got some nice compliments – with the notes of Vetiver and Patchouli, Tonka beans are for me typical masculine ingredients which makes the scent got a decent masculine smell filled up with amber and a little Lavender for a bit of freshness – a good combination

A nice inexpensive (if you can find it in your price range) juice. Longevity (5 to 6 hours) and projection (1 hour) are not beastly. The juice is Bergamot, Mandarin and sweetish Amber from the start. Soon I get Lavender, Vetiver and Patchouli with musk at the end. The Ambery sweetness stays throughout the scent. I like it and find it nice for casual wear. I would try before you buy do to it being similar to other juices on the market. Enjoy!

Yves Rocher is my favorite brand.And Amber Noir is not make me disapointment.Good amber smell ,dark and sweet, long lasting on my skin 6 hours.Good for office in cool weather,not overpower not so sweet, just gentle and mild amber. it.I don't care about a bottle is copy or not.

Elegant, warm, successful blend of amber and aromatic notes. I gave it to my husband on Valentine's day : he immediately loved it. He's used to Paco Rabanne and D&G fragrances, he likes warm perfumes and this one suits him well. Excellent lasting power.

I am not a fragrance enthusiast but i really like that fragrance as a winter fragrance. This fragrance feels like you are sitting with your family in living room in a cold christmas night, %100 should buy it.

What a SEXY smell! I bought this parfume for my husband and we absolutely loving it! It has such a deep and adult smell, very rich and extravagant. It is not sour or sweet, but very gentle and classy smell!

To me this is a more wearable version of Dior's Fahrenheit. Smells like woody amber without the organe and petrol vibe. Smells very natural too, the price is good. If you like Fahrenheit, check this out.

I bought this nice perfume for myself based on a tester, it smells absolutely wonderful. -But, than I gave it to my son and his father, and they like it so very much =))

Very nice and warm scent. Manly too. Only thing is the performance cannot make it. Turns to skin scent very fast. Need to overspray 10-15 sprays MINIMUM.

This has not been released yet - the bottle may look like The One but we don't know the smell!

This is a nice fragrance - it's nothing like The One but very similar to Lacoste Elegance! :)

The cynic in me wants to scream 'D&G rip off!!!' (Not that I like the term or would ever say that.) My instant thoughts on Yves Rocher's Ambre Noire, even before seeing the flacon was that it would maybe resemble 'The One' and it does in more ways than one. The tester I tried didn't have a stopper on it but the bottle is very similar, not that it's a criticism, if you're going to copy something then you could definitely choose less wisely. However, upon sampling this amber coloured juice I noted that it has it's own distinct vibe going on. It's not really fair to compare them because they're far enough apart to justify both in your wardrobe for sure although comparisons will obviously be made. The sweet, warm amber/tobacco/vanilla is one thing and reminscent of D&G's The One but then this has a slightly herbal element of vetiver and patchouli with the vanilla toned down and more of a tonka bean scent. Despite this, I think Amber Noire actually comes across a bit smoother and sweeter even than the one. I liked it but then I am a sucker for warm oriental fragrances and if you are too then this is worth a sniff. Longevity and projection are pretty average, well out performs The One though, food for thought perhaps?

The bottle, yes, is disturbing - curiously similar to D&G The One... But the frag it's meritous. I have a Yves Rocher shop in my vicinity - so, today I was the first one who bought a new released 50 ml bottle! (and a hair & body shampoo). Obviously, AN is a take on the same amber/red/warm/semi-sweet theme - but where the D&G The One is fruitier and sweeter, Ambre Noir is darker and bitter. As a fan of the (discontinued) YR Arctic, I know all the male frags that YR proposed in the last decade - and IMO Ambre Noir is the best: better than Hoggar or Comme une Evidence, anyway. AN has nothing in common with the spring-summer-suited YR Nature - AN is more powerfull, more "mature". Good longevity, moderate sillage; an excellent & well blended scent for the european winter. In the current offer of Yves Rocher, Ambre Noir is the best proposal for scents loving men. For those who appreciate D&G The One or Dior Homme, AN will be a good surprise. Bravo, Yves Rocher! A deserved 8+/10.

An oriental amber masculine fragrance. Warm, round and sweet, it is perfect for winter. Normally, I'm not a fan of amber when it dominates, but here it's well balanced by the tonka bean. Also, the cedar, lavender and vetiver come to bring a little freshness to the perfume, avoiding any heaviness. What I like less is that when I compare it to its cousin Hoggar (from the same olfactory family), I always turn to the latter one. I find that the different notes of Ambre Noir dissipate quickly after spraying, giving way to a little sweet vanilla trail and that's it, which makes this perfume a bit boring in the end. But I like it as is, and it's always a good idea to have it at home for a change! 8/10

Went to the local yves rocher and tried this. It was 30% off with free body wash. Left the store with just a single spray and thought it was really angry, loud and assertive. But the drydown is freaking awesome! Not good with notes and stuff but to me this is like smoky sweet, ripe sweat of the gods. Stupid but thats what comes to my mind. It's dark, ambery and woody goodness. I wanted a big bottle, nevermind a few coworkers will not like this so I came back to the store the next day. It's still 30% off but without the body wash and being the cheapy that I am, I passed. Waiting for that free body wash to come back.

I received this perfume from my wife on Valentine's day. What can I say after couple days of using it? It's very nice, modern, well-blended and warm perfume....but.... well - the weakness/softness of aroma..It' s like you take a high-class components, mix it and after that you dilute the mixture but you use too many diluter - you have the final product which is consisted of very good components but too many extender so the aroma is really classy but also you must have a really good nose to detect the smell and appreciate it. My rating: Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 4/10 ------------- Overall: 6,5/10

Ambre noir is a very good fragrance. It's sweet and warm but in a elegant way. The problem is the longevity... on my skin at least. After one hour it turns into a skin scent. It doesn't disappear completely, but it became very soft(slightly better in warm weather) . I can detect the scent now and then efter some hours but it doesn't project much. I think that overall longevity is 4-5 hours max. Absolutely safe and masculine. I suggest to buy it if you find a very good price (i bought Ambre Noir at 5 Euro (50 ml)!). Scent: 7/10 longevity: 4/0 Sillage: 4/10 --- Overall: 5,5/10

Warm, sensual, smooth and lovely to wear in colder weather; Ambre Noir smells incredibly organic and pleasant without trying hard to be a clone of any of the bigger names in perfume out there. I really like it and I have had a couple compliments telling me that I smell very good. It's perfect for fall or winter days as well as nights. It performs very well, with 5 sprays I get at least 6 hours out of it where I can actively smell it on me. It's just one of those all arounders that you can reach out for without thinking twice. Highly recommended.

I don't get any resemblance to The One from this one at all (except for the cheesy bottle ;-) )as I'm not getting any fresh or spicy notes that come through. A soft, subtle amber, where the patchouli and lavender peek through after 1⁄2 to one hour with hints of cedar as well. Very calming and inoffensive, but also sort of... boring? I had my bottle for a year and a half and used it maybe ten times, before selling it. Not bad, just wasn't interesting at all IMO. Safe for most environments.

One of the better frags from this house. Longevity is good and silage not as much. It's a very ambery woody aromatic vanillic experience. Patchouli is quite earthy but not over powering. Not a unique or memorable frag. To me this is a safe year-round scent -- maybe not in a hot summer day I guess. If you like mild amber then this for the price is really good. Suitable for more mature gents. This could be much nicer with a bolder lavender presence.

Lovely soft and warm fragrance for daytime in Autumn and winter.Soft and sweet without being sickly however no lasting power on my skin.Glad I didn't pay full price and if this is a reflection of the current offerings from Yves Rocher I wont be buying any more. Bring back the likes of Aztek and the Nature line in the brown bottle if you are listening. on me rating fragrance 7 out of 10.Lasting power and projection 3 out of 10. Sorry Yves Rocher!!

Yves Rocher is a very underrated house, they make solid fragrances for an affordable price. "Ambre noir" hits all the boxes, it's fresh, well blended, elegant, crowd pleasing... Can't go wrong if you buy / offer it as a gift.

Very intensive. Too much amber for me.

I am so disappointed. I bought this as a christmas present for my nephew. And I tried it today. First I had sprayed Davidoff Cool Water, which my nephew had bought. And then the Ambre Noir. They smelled very much the same. I had expected this to be an amber scent, maybe slightly oriental. And noir means something deep and dark. But this perfume is the total opposite. There is no amber whatsoever here, and nothing noir. I have a true amber, Amber Aswad from Al-Muhib, an oriental perfume oil that is all about amber, and Ambre Noir has zero of that amber vibe. Ambre Noir is aromatic. The horrible aromatic perfumes, that I hate. It is fresh and stingy, but also woody, but not a nice wood. A sharp wood. I guess it is the cedar. Why this scent is called Ambre Noir, I have no idea. The amber is totally gone. Maybe it will come after the perfume has dried down. But that is too late. And I washed it off as good as I could, so I might not get the drydown either. But it still stings my nose. So it doesn't wash off easily. I had high hopes for this, and did not expect something like mosquito spray. I was expecting a warm and cosy amber. This is more in the category as Cool Water, and I definately don't like Cool Water at all. Did my nephew like it? I don't think so. But he didn't hate it, though. But I could never ever wear this amberless Ambre Noir. So I give it a 0 out of 10. When that's said. It is not worse than other aromatic perfumes. If you like such things, I guess this one can be a good one. Inexpensive too. And definately not unisex, if that is important. Very masculine. And very much a french mainstream style of scent - boring and nothing special, most often offensive and way too sharp. I really prefer orientals. And stupid me who thought Ambre Noir would have an oriental touch. I bought it as a gift, and I wanted him to smell good and special, not like a synthetic christmas tree sprayed with mosquito repellant.

Tastes differ, but I really don ́t get how this juice would deserve the "masculine" tag. It ́s heavy on the Tonka and even more so the Amber, which makes it very warm and cozy, but I wouldn ́t wonder for a second, if a woman wearing this would cross my ways. That is, if I could notice it at all, which leads to the main problem: it hardly radiates at all. No problem if you ́re a husband, but if you want to get some attention: no one will notice you until they get VERY close. The longevity is also a bit below moderate. Even the price tag is not a pro argument, as there are so many comparably priced, or even cheaper, but better fragrances out there.

Although I am a fan of Yves Rocher frags, this one didn't cut it. Smells like a barn stall on my skin, not in a good way. Return.

Does smell like amber, but not my cup of tea. (I'd pick Jaguar Excellence over this)

It surprises me i hadn't ever reviewed this. It's extremely close to CH Men Privé, the leather is constructed differently and there is no booze here. It bothers me that the performance of it is mediocre. You can put on 15 sprays and get a couple hours of performance. Spray several times on clothing and it will barely stay for the night. The scent is great but i dunno, performance is terrible. Not sure if i'd buy again. EDIT: I DID buy it again. I spray on clothing and even on skin seems to have a much better performance than it used to. Back in the day it lasted on me 2 hours with 15 sprays, i now got around 4 hours with a more than decent projection, and the liquid is barely starting to age. Since it's almost entirely natural i recommend wearing it a few times and let it rest for months while spending the least possible of the perfume and the ingredients and performance will reach an astounding point and will perfectly rival any niche fragrance regarding ingredient quality, and rivaling several regarding performance. Again, spray on clothing, this smells amazing!! By the way, i sold my bottle of Bentley For Men (Excellent performance but mediocre ingredients) to get hold of these astounding Givaudan natural ingredients. I'm in love!!!

Very subtle and balanced,lightly woody and soft, lavender-not there or blended in very well,patchouli and amberish in a good way,but mostly noticeable is amber,tonka and woodsy notes in the background. Amber and tonka give a sweet vibe,like if there's vanilla in there,it makes the scent a bit on a feminine side but woodsy background puts everything in place.Not a strong masculine cologne, but a classic manly fragrance. I keep going back to this bottle,the scent is not very long-lasting,thus it gives an opportunity to use it more often, I crave sweetness these cold snowy days. Ambre Noir became my addiction. I would put it on a same shelf with Davidoff Silver Shadow.Great for business meetings,office,intimate date.I'd like to combine it with shower gel,waiting for a good deal. The dry-down is incredible,so rich and lightly sweet,almost on a gourmand side.I compared the dry-down to PR Million Intense and they are almost identical.

This is my second YR smell! In the shop at the test, he was sympathetic to other men's fragrance ... Finally, I chose this. I like this balmy, woody tone that is decisive in the scent. Between ingredients, it does not say "amber", but it does not offer a positive experience in that direction too! The word "Noir" is in its name in any case ... there is a very nice "sweet, dark line" in it, which goes well with the whole dryness! Whatever "Noir" is, it's really a winter fragrance I think it's perfect! A sweet-oriental overtones will further color the overall effect. I really like it! The scent is high quality and it performs surprisingly well both night and day. Especially like the perfume with special and natural ingredients. Somehow it feels the quality of it and no odd scent at all! And it also has a "vintage" feeling! ;) A good deal!

Yves Rocher Ambre Noir is a typical contemporary fragrance for men. Do not expect anything niche here, the scent is not ambery but woody fruity I should say. It is another one variation of extremely popular Carolina Herrera CH Men theme: semisweet fruity perfume that is a pure pleasure for people around. We see the same idea in Trussardi My Land, S. T. Dupont 58 Avenue Montaigne, and Ambre Noir is another one follower. Nevertheless Ambre Noir is enriched by a big amount of woody notes (cedar, a bit of vetiver), that's way it smells a bit more sophisticated. The bottle is a one-in-one copy of D&G The One for men bottle, even the colour of the cap is the same.

My backgound: Indian-Arab Descent with sandy brown skin ;) This is very sweet. I do not get the similarity to YSL Nuit, other than both dry downs are sweet. For me, the top notes are amazing! They leave behind middle notes which makes me feel like I am wearing 1 Million, Spice Bomb, Eau De Baux* type fragrances. On my skin, this works identical to Eau de Beaux from L'Occitane. I love French fragrances over other cultures, and both Eau de Beaux and Ambre Noir are great fragrances... IF YOU LIKE SWEET. For someone who loves spice and warm scents, this fragrances is TOO SWEET, and hence a little Fem. My lady was not a fan - She likes Hot Water on me much more.

So weird, I fell in love with this on my man, I keep wanting to snif this on him but usually patchouli ruins scents for me! It also has lavender in it which I honestly hate in scent candles or air refresher! But the same evening I smelled the sample that was in an order and applied it to my man I decided to give him the largest bottle for Valentines day! He also liked it quite a lot :) It smells soooooo manly! Tobacco, leathery, woodsy... yet spicey fresh like he has been chopping wood outside in the cold for hours! I think I do like YR patchouli because I also really like So Elixir purple I found out!

This perfume opens a bit in a mix of notes that slightly open up to its own quality. In the long run and especially in the dry down this fragrance reminds me of Serge Lutens Santal Majuscle. This fragrance has also some notes in the middle that reflect some reference with Dior Homme Intense. This perfume is a nice perfume with some mysterious notes. In the beginning there some woody notes that end up in a musky amber woody tone. It has class and y can wear this easily on official as on informal festive occasions. Here again a nice and good perfume from Yves Rocher.

Gives me rogue man vibes (which resembles D&G the one). Some elements remind me of Moustache EDP from rochas. I also get like a leather that reminded me of CH men privé but there's no leather listed so I assume it might be the combination of other ingredients, maybe tonka+lavender? So I definitely get why people say it smells like D&G the one, Moustache EDP, CH men privé. Basically if you like one of those, you'll probably like this too. Is it redundant if you have those, maybe. Not worth retail (imho) but you can get these sub 20 incl shipped from vinted/ebay/...

Very elegant and perfectly balanced. It opens with fresh amber and wood scent and patchouli with lavender joins quickly. Tonka bean and moss can be felt in few minutes. It settles to fresh woody scent quickly and stays same for quite long. It slowly develops into strong woody scent where some hints of pepper could be felt. Longevity is pretty good. It lasts about 6 hours but after 4 hours it stays pretty close to the skin. It works better in cold weather especially in cold wind. This is perfect scent and extremely ellegant.

A delicious, resinouly sweet, Smoky with nuances of freshness, Amber! This IS a great Amber and though it is on the masculine side it is very seductive nevertheless. Tonka adds a subtle sweetness, patch adds interest and cedar envelopes the lot into a spicy, fresh deep concoction. Very addictive even for those who prefer unisex scents! Well crafted, smells expensive and modern in a classic way. The combo of Amber, cedar, and tonka with a hint of lavender is simply wicked here. MAJOR pulling factor, lads!!!!!

Ambre Noire seems to be a deeply polarizing fragrance. For me it was love at first sight. Mostly I get patchouli (loads of it), some vetiver and the sweetness of tonka, which by the way never becomes too cloying. But wait, there`s more. I also get an animalic note that reminds me a little bit of Kouros. This makes Ambre Noire irresitibly sexy for me. Guess that`s exactly what so many can`t cope with. Try before you buy, it`s an excellent cologne , but it`s certainly not for everybody.
