Monoï Vague d’été

Look, you have to appreciate this one for what it is (a tropical white floral that smells like Monoi oil) and not lament what it’s not (a $300 bottle of white floral perfection). I’ve smelled a ton of tropical summer fragrances, and this is probably the best for the price point. It blows many other higher priced fragrances out of the water. There are better ones out there, I own a few of them and will likely buy a few more. But, I will reach for this all summer long. It is cheap, unpretentious and smells exactly as promised. To me, it smells nearly identical to the Yves Rocher Monoi oil, which I use daily in summer. And, when layered with the oil, the scent lasts 5-6 hours. I thought, wrongly, that this wore close to the skin. But then yesterday, I arrived to pick my children up from school and a trio of masked parents asked me what I was wearing which was both impressive and disconcerting. Last thing. Many tropical fragrances that I have tried (and not limited to lower price points) have smelled synthetic, flat or shampooey. This has none of that.

Tiare & Monoi-Oil Heaven...Ahhhh Succulent and buttery Monoi Oil (Tahitian gardenia petals soaked in coconut oil) is the star in this underrated beauty. Takes a few weeks after first sprays for the magic to happen. This has a quality feel to it, like this is how tiare and Monoi oil are supposed to smell,. I'm really impressed by this. I'm a fan! 10/10. Comparison to Holidays Mancera: These are different, although they've been compared. They do both have a beachy coconut & white-floral vibe, but Holidays is sweeter with a marine accord and more of a blend along the lines of a marine version of Alien Goddess. Overall: Well above average performance and excellent value. This has the performance to be worn year round, but it's best when you're feeling the need for a tropical island lift. It's a love for me. Enjoy! Edit 02/15/24: I like layering this over Dolce Garden Dolce&Gabbana to add some sweetness and prolong the tropical aspects of Dolce Garden.

It can strike strong and heavy for summer at first sniff - definitely not heavy for winter - but once you apply it and wear it for the day, it smells delicious, warm, and sexy to me that I cannot stop smelling myself, even though I prefer more clean, fresh, soapy scents. It gets asked a lot by the people who like warm vanilla, but honestly, some people hate it. I used it everywhere, every time, and never felt unsuitable for any occasion. It is obvious that it gives beach, tanned skin, a tiny bikini, and a lovely Mediterranean dinner and all that vibes, but I also associate this perfume with autumn, dark academia, in the library, sipping your nice hot Irısh latte for the day, and being studious. Or is it just me?

I discovered this one too late. 2 months ago I saw a sponsored post about the Monoi products from YvesRocher and I got interested. Blind bought the whole collection. I checked the reviews here before ordering, and assumed i would like it. Well I love it ! The scent is unique. Sometimes I think I smell sunscreen lotion, other times vanilla and coconut. I got many compliments, people told me I smell like summer, beach and vacations. The performance is desperate. Weak projection and lasts 1-2 hours on skin. I tried layering it with the monoi dry oil, no difference. However I will definitely buy it again. I just can't get enough of the sweet scent. On clothes it definitely lingers much longer.

With this scent, Yves Rocher has created the smell of summer IMO! Yves Rocher did a masterpiece with this scent that brings me with each spray mentally under the palms and near the shore of a turquoise sea. Chemical indeed, but a very inspiring and pleasant combination. Definitely underrated. This and the complete set (shower gel and oil) are my must-haves every summer, and buying them always marks the beginning of the beautiful season!!

This is perfect for those who want a monoi/tiare perfume! Somehow smells lactonic (maybe of the vanila?) If you're sick of coconut in your summery tropical perfumes but still love a lactonic note, this is good! People do say that this has a sunscreen scent, I think referring to the Hawaii Tropical brand. I have the perfume and the sunscreen, they do smell similar except that this perfume is dominated by the monoi oil.

This is my go to summer perfume. A very light, sunscreen, summer in a bottle kind of scent. Perfect for the beach and a day time summer perfume. I find that it last longer in combination with the shower gel and monoï body milk. When you spray it on first it can smell a bit harsh, but when it dries down it's absolutely define. I love it!

This one here lasts all day, has a VERY strong scent and it’s one of my favorites. I don’t really care about using perfume during certain seasons but this one is a pure summer scent. Spraying it on makes hot days bearable, and just smells sexy honestly. I love it. It’s one of the strongest perfumes I’ve ever purchased.

I have had this for a while, it is great! You feel like you are transported to the a tropical island every time you use it! I also have the regular oil, and the spray dry oil. The regular oil is my fave of all of them. This is no longer available on the website and i only have half of a bottle left! Wtf YR? Why?

My favorite summer scent but unfortunately not long lasting. I might get a more long lasting dupe. There is body oil, body cream and body spray to make it last longer. But I don't want to buy more stuff just for the scent to last.

a buttery and sexy tiare flower scent. utterly delicious and sensual, it smells like being on a hot beach in the late afternoon and re-applying sunscreen or tanning oil. so good!

Not a review -- sorry!!! But I've noticed that this fragrance is listed as unisex, whereas the votes skew heavily female. The Yves Rocher website also lists it as a female fragrance. Can anybody see this being worn on a dude? Edit (01/15/2021): I went ahead and purchased this one (50% off for first-time customers, if I remember correctly), and my feelings are mixed. It's certainly inoffensive, though overwhelmingly synthetic and a bit piercing. A linear scent with moderate longevity and low projection. I was searching for a thick, sunscreen-y scent reminiscent of childhood summers. It satisfies that desire to an extent, though it lacks a necessary depth (which I should've braced for, having seen the actual notes). There's a generous waft of how I imagine the Yves Rocher factory smells. It's a distinctly European smell, as though not even an atom of the omnipotent American spirit has graced its sterile, burnished vessel. It's a lonely smell -- a very foreign smell. I will continue Monoï Vague d’été's use (it's not horrible or anything) while I scour this website for a more enriching fragrance, but I am unsettled by the dull groan of ancient Polynesians squirming in their sandy graves.

If you want to smell like monoï oil in a natural, non-perfumey way for an affordable price, this it it. CSP Aloha Tiaré feels too strong and similar to a toilet spray and Intense Tiaré is beautiful but smells perfumey (not in a bad way though) and also has a cold feeling to it. On the other hand, Yves Rocher's offering smell warmer and less "dressed-up", in a sense. Perfect addition to a day on the beach. I don't get coconut though, but I used to in the previous formulation.

I ran 3 bottles of this and have been using it for the last 3 years. I fell in love with it when I first tried it, and for some reason it started to smell a little too salty to me lately but I still like it! It definitely is very summery, smelling like sunscreen and ocean. Overall, I love the whole line of Monoi. Makes me immediately feel like I am by the beach tanning.

I was wearing this while walking into a small shop and the owner said " Oh my, you smell like the sea" and that is my fave compliment because everyone loves a day at the beach, its just a good association .. Anyway, this is faint obviously but I don't mind reapplying - it is a mist . Also, it is liberating knowing that not everything needs to be a crazy projecting thing

I absolutely love it since years! I think it's reformulated now, and you can actually smell the "oil" note that I don't appreciate so much in a perfume formula. I still have the old bottle and it looks prettier (logo with flowers and the lid was bronze and elegant VS the bigger black cheap plastic that they have now 😕). The older was better!

Slightly sweet, slightly salty, fatty Tiare milk shake. Update: I actually have it for more than a year now. I did not really use it, only occasionally, because I found it too much in your face for my taste. But it actually smoothed a little bit, I don't find it that harsh anymore. It definitely serves well for my vanilla cravings.

I think it's a pleasant scent, it's soft and cozy but still refreshing. It has a warm and beachy feeling. When I tried it for the first time, I was a bit put off because it smelled very strongly of banana but now that I have tried it a few times it has really grown on me and I don't really sense the banana anymore!

Both Monoï Vague d’été and Monoi Eau des Vahines are absolute summer perfumes. Monoï Vague d’été smells more floral and fresh. I don't smell coconut in this perfume at all, but it's still beachy. Monoi Eau des Vahines has a strong coconut note, which I love.

Bought this hoping it would be a lot more coconut than its predecessor Monoi eau des Vahines. They are nearly identical. Good scent. Very summery. Great Terracotta by Guerlain alternative.

Aunt gave me this, said she doesn’t use fragrance. It’s a cute scent, not really what I go for, but it’s beautiful. But that’s about it. Can’t wait for summer to experience this!

its perfect summer pefume but a bit heavy it could be overwhelming in hot weather if i were to buy a perfume for summer i would definitely repurchase this one.

I'm in a such a good mood when I spray this. It is summery and it is indeed the fragrance for you when you see the word Monoï. Ahhh, a wonderful experience!

Edible and fresh but too soapy. I got bored of it easily, don't know if that's the nature of the scent or if I just wore it too much...?

This is good if you like tiare flower. It smells exactly like Nuxe Prodigieux le parfum, for less money.

I tested this perfume at the Yves Rocher store, and loved it immediately. It's a summery scent, but not "beachy" summery type that you would refrain from wearing in the city. I'd buy it staight away at full price, however the longevity and sillage was super poor. I couldn't smell anything after half an hour. Even the body mist which is supposed to have less longevity performed better. Perhaps it's only on my skin, but I do wish they kept the old formulation with the coconut (I do get the coconut smell though) and ylang ylang, providing better longevity. Now it's 20% off and the price is reasonable given the super inflated prices here in Turkey, but I'm not sure whether I wish to keep spraying it around the clock.

this is a very creamy white floral and vanilla perfume. apparently there is no coconut but some combination reminds me of coconut, but i guess it's just vanilla. the vanilla has a toasted quality to it at first, which isn't my favorite, but luckily that dies off and it dries down to a sweet creamy tiare with vanilla and hints of gardenia.

This was a little disappoitment. I think the other monoi, vahines one, was better. This smells a little nauseuting when you first spray it, especially if you didn't eat yet. You think it will open up after a while but no, it becomes cloying. It smells good only when the wind picks it up and brings it you from afar.

For a years now, I have some bottles of this parfum for summer time. Absolutely beautiful for beach or poolside days, great for laying with other parfums to add summerish vibe to them. You can often snatch it in a kind of a promotion at the beginning of summer. Go for it!

I am not a fan of the opening, since it's strong and too flowery for me. But a few minutes later I am fine with this scent and I think It's truly unisex. Not very beachy but definitely summery frag.

i loved the vahines one it was perfect for me. but this one is not good enough. something is missing or something is irritating. the old monoi was better. also it has very low longevity

Very big disappointment for me! I imagined feminine gentle and airy , creamy scent,but i get only harsh,sintetic home fragrance.Never blind buy this one guys!I saw that Natalie Garcia Ceto is the parfumer,same which is made TF Eu due soleil blanc,i had a very big hopes for this one. It is very close to Mancera Coco Vanille actually, yes it is literally a dupe of Coco Vanille, little more sintetic,bit almost the same scent,but its not my cup of tea.

I rarely tend to write a negative review but for this “creation” I had to. It is so chemical, nauseating and just so disappointing. I love tiare flower in a fragrance, but my first thought when I smelled this was - public toilets air freshener. Yes, it is that bad. Please test it first, don’t blind buy this.

I think i have allergy for this one. At least for the first 30 mins i feel a tingling sensation around my mouth and inside of my nose. it smells like an anti-ageing cream of a luxurious brand for 50+ women.

A little disappointed. I fell in love with the monoi dry oil mist which smelled intense and divine, so I thought the perfume would smell similar. In my case, it is not intense and does not last long at all and I've tried to make it work. When you spray it, it will have a very strong alcohol smell and once it settles it you will notice the faint smell of the tiare flower with a hint of vanilla. I don't dislike the smell at all, it does remind me of the beach but it is too subtle for my liking and does not last long at all on my skin unless I spray a lot (2 hours), but I figured out it lasts longer if you combine this with their monoi body oils. It last well on the fabrics though. I am glad I got this on sale since I don't think I will repurchase this again.

If this isn’t bright enough for you as a pool/beach/sunscreen fragrance, and it’s just sitting in your collection: try it in autumn! To me, this perfume has a damp quality that I didn’t enjoy in summer, like it clings to the ground and doesn’t lift. And it had a tiny trace of... cigarettes? Don’t know. Now, at 5 degrees celsius, wet dirt and fog season, this one shines! The dampness is cozy and warm, no cigarettes any more, and the scent has a beautiful depth. A deep floral and some winter-appropriate coconut scent lingers. If you enjoy petrichor and Autumn Vibes, try this one! From 2/10 to 8.5/10 in one season, quite remarkable.

Every summer I buy myself something not too strong that I can spray whole day long. This time I decided to try this one. Firstly, it is a very cheam fragrance. So, it smells just like summer to me, not a classic fresh summer perfume, but the smell of warm sand, luxury body oils and tanned skin. It doesn't smell too artifical too me while the body wash from this line is suffocating. I combine it with the body shimmer oil also from YR and it lasts really long for the price, maybe 4-5 hours. I got 2 compliments for know, which is great since I didn't had chance to wear it more because of corona. I recommend it.

Beautiful, fresh, Tiare & coconut. This fragrance is sadly none of these things. How Yves Rocher managed to completely miss the mark on such a simple fragrance is suspect. This smells just... bad. Chemical, not even as good as simple tanning lotion.I think it’s shameful that they have the gall to release such a disgusting scent, & call it perfume. Garbage. Never blind buy. NEVER.

This is a truly summertime dream of fragrance. To be honest I wouldn’t buy Terracotta instead of this one but both can complement each other. Pure tiare flowers with exotic gardenias, Monoi oil with creamy coconut and seductive vanilla beans. It has a low trace but the fragrance lasts for at least 6 hours close to your skin. With this fragrance summer will last forever.

I am surprised how much I like this scent. It develops from white floral (Tiare, Monoi) to vanilla to coconut. Very strong and loud in the beginning I wake up on the next day with a hint of coconut that makes me feel like I ́ve been to the beach. Low in price but not in quality. Makes me feel sexy, bold and free.
