Ode à l'amour

Ode à l'amour is charming and romantic. It reminds me of spring in Paris with romance and love in the air. It is pretty, youthful and alluring. It makes me think of a bouquet of gorgeous pink roses. There are no roses in this perfume but the soft floral heart with a touch of spicy plum creates the scent that reminds me of a fine rose perfume. The plum notes are beautiful in this perfume with a touch of spice and black current. In the heart notes, the plum notes are masterfully combined with ylang-ylang. The scent is not heavy but it has substance and beautiful presence. The scent continues into the base note but retains this beautiful soft fruity floral quality. I always get compliments when I wear this scent. People describe it as soft, romantic and charmingly sweet but not overpowering. Had a mini of this in junior high, now I have a mini of it again. I never realized just how unique this is until I smelled a bajillion other fragrances. The mini I am smelling has been used a tiny bit and the scent has changed a little, but time has mostly been kind to it and it smells essentially like I remember it doing back in the day. I could never have picked out blackcurrant and plum as the major players in this fragrance. They both seem too dark for this pastel pink concoction. This is the epitome of lovely. It's a fresh-faced girl on her graduation day holding a huge bouquet of pink roses while her highschool sweetheart takes a picture of her. They haven't realized that they want to go to separate colleges yet and all is well in the world. It's uplifting, sweet but not saccharine, fruity but not cheap.

I have the vintage that is utterly lovely. Yes, it is fruity with plum, tart black currant and some green apple but very deep with some patchouli and musk, strong sandalwood and some tiny hint of light floral that is not ylang or rose. So very pretty. Close to the skin like a vintage perfume should be. Not a modern beast. For getting close.

I completely forgot I had it years ago... I really loved the tangy blackcurrant note counterbalancing the sweetness of the composition. Then the plum and amber with a hint of rose. Not quite a "pink" fragrance. It was really mouthwatering, full of dark fruit on an ambery background. Such a shame I can't get hold of this any more...

This used to be my signature fragrance - I used to wear it ALL the time and put on the sparkly lotion every night before bed. It appears, unfortunately, that they may have discontinued this fragrance, and I was caught without a stockpile, so I'll be out soon, which is too bad, because I loved the mixture of fruit and spice.

I had it in my early 20's , when it first came out . It's a very pretty scent, not very distinctive , but very pleasant to wear , fruity , romantic and fortunately not too sweet . Moreover it's really affordable . Worths to be buyed. Can be gifted to a "perfume beginner" , for a nice step into the "world of scents " .

I just recently tested this from a vintage mini bottle, heavenly. It is discontinued like all the rest of the good ones from Yves Rocher! I don't want to fall in love with a scent that is unattainable so my mini stays on display and will not be used. I don't want to be addicted to another scent that is not available.

I used up a full bottle of this in high school, I believe. That was about 6 years ago, but I remember loving it. It was warm, fruity, and incredibly rich and...thick. I am utterly heart broken that Yves Rocher discontinued the Ode series.

I like this elegant light summer floral in the perfume. The fruits merge with the flowers, give energetic boldness, and do not smell like food. The perfume is floral-fantasy.

i had it when i was 14-15. now i'm 23 and i want it badly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unfortunately there's no Yves Rocher in the country i live now.

I'm still keeping preciously the vintage dabber bottle I bought as a teenager when this fragrance was just released. This is a review of the original 2001 formulation. It's a very pretty floral fruity fragrance centred around an intense plum note with some rose, sandalwood and vanilla. Like other gourmand fragrances of the early 2000s, it was sweet and a bit juicy but not sugary. Happy, youthful and innocent, but not without character. Lovely for Spring and could work for early Fall as well. One of the many Yves Rochers that shouldn't have been discontinued, IMO. The new Olympéa Legend has quite a few notes in common and share the same gourmand plum note. The two fragrances are different, as Ode à l'Amour is more woody floral for Spring while Olympéa Legend is more of a gourmand fruity vanilla for Winter, but they have a pretty similar vibe, satisfying enough to not make me miss Ode à l'Amour too much.

Taken from Yves Rocher's web site, the notes are: Mirabelle, Blackcurrant, Plum, Ylang-Ylang, Amber, Rockrose and Sandalwood. Ode à l'Amour is a sweet and heavy perfume with excellent longevity and incredible sillage. As soon as I spray it, I can smell the intensely sweet, full and round scent of plums (as if they were taken from a cake) and sandalwood. Ode à L'Amour does not change much on my skin but it is still quite complex and multidimensional. When I press my nose against my skin, close my eyes and breathe in, I get warm plums and plum cake with oriental sandalwood and light redcurrant (bitter and fresh), rose, (cool, slightly sweet), ylang-ylang (rich, full) and amber (soft, cuddly). All in all Ode à L'Amour is sweet, heavy and longlasting and projects very well. A great fragrance, of course it was discontinued...

I actually stumbled upon this perfume sitting on a mailbox in the hall of a residential building I was visiting for my job. My policy is this: if you spot a fragrance in the wild, snag it now, ask questions later. And so I tucked it away in my messenger bag to await post-work inspection. The blackcurrant and plum crash in with a dense, violent wave, followed by an undertow of breezy vanilla, cistus and sandalwood. It reminds me of Dior Poison, just with less effervescence and notes altogether, in a more tightly-spaced composition. The bottle design is lovely 90's art nouveau/Enya vibes; it feels like an elemental shard from Millais' Ophelia. Good snag!

I used to wear this a lot back when I was a teenager (my signature scent). I had the sparkly body lotion as well. Oh, I felt so pretty when wearing this:) I'm actually looking for a similar, but a bit more grown up, fragrance now. Edit: I had to buy it again after all these years. I have to admit it's not the same as I remember. Much more spicy. It's good, but not fantastic. Edit II: I guess my skin chemistry was a bit off when I wore this couple of months ago, because now it is just as I remembered it. Plummy, creamy, rich and sweet yet calm and sensual fragrance. One of my favorites by Yves Rocher, still.

At the first glimpse it is a typical fragrance for teenage girls - very fruity, transparent and fresh; with no heavy tones to disturb its youthfulness. There is something about this perfume, however, which makes mature women like it too. Spicy notes add to the scent a little sharpness, ripe fruits bring the idea of feminine sensuality... I still don't know what should I think of this, whether it is a masterpiece or just a piece of very good job. It's not quite suitable for the day nor for the evening but so pleasant that I cannot help wearing it. Confusing as it may be, it is worth trying it.

Sweet and fruity, a very cheerful fragrance. Inoffensive, perfect for the day time for young girls. I remember this was one of my first perfumes when I was in my early teens. And I think that's a good choice for girls entering the world of perfumes... but perhaps not as good for older, more demanding perfume users. It is nice and pleasant, of course, but in my opinion it lacks definitive personality.

It was one of my favorite EDT when I was 17, now I'm 32 and it is too sweet and not enough sophisticated. For young girls. A few days ago, I discovered Ode à l'amour Passionnément and Tendrement and it gave me the idea to taste it again. Perhaps I could love it again ? But I'm pretty sure that Ode à l'amour Passionnément will be my favorite one because it's the most accomplished, according to me.

This perfume was one of my first perfumes ever. I got it when I was around 11 years old, and I used to have the solid-perfume version of it as well. It is actually a great fragrance for young girls as it is a light and sweet scent. I do get some fruity notes and it kinda gives we these pink vibes. A nice everyday scent for spring or autumn, not overpowering and long-lasting.

A lovely fruity scent, Oal is feminine and easy to wear. Work safe because of its modest sillage and lasting power, Oal trends towards youthful wearers without being overly sugary/girly. I received the pretty heart shaped flacon in a vintage lot purchase. This blind buy fit the bill exactly since I was looking for a plummy frag. Well, Oal is a nice plum, so I'm happy. :)

This is an interesting mix of plum and blackcurrant that make a mouthwateringly juicy, yet twisty, combination together. Amber pushes very strongly through fruity notes giving it warmth, depth, spicyness and irresistibly funky attitude. It's a loud, positively distinctive and confident fragrance for confident women.

I used to wear this as a young professional and remember this as a decent office scent if not overspraying. On my skin it was mostly plum, sandalwood, apple and cassis. Cheerful and positive, not sweet and cloying at all. Reminds me of Halle Berry's Reveal the passion, but Reveal is a tad sweeter.

Really fruity and sweet, but I don’t like the rose note here even though it’s quite faint. It has minimal sillage and lasts about 5 hours. Saw that this was compared to PDM Meliora but I disagree. I find Meliora fruitier, but also more grassy.

Adorable...right in between "little girl" and "woman". Not weightless and mindless but not heavy and matronly. Girly...but this is a grown woman reminiscing of girlhood nostalgically (and not in a deluded sad way.)

I like fruity scents, but with this one, all I could really smell was the apple, which I'm not a big fan of. Other than than, it has a nice staying power, but I wish I could sense more of the floral notes.

A very fruity plum fragrance with a blast of blackcurrant. On the dry down it is slightly spicy yet woodsy. This fragrance really does last for hours. Cute bottle.

Ode à l'amour is one of the sweetest scents I have ever owned. I loved the plum explosion that happened with it. It brings back memories.

Had it few years ago. Very girly and very sweet. Too swet for me. I like to smell it on someone but I won't use it again.

The first time I sniffed this eau de toilette from a paper strip I was delighted by its fruitiness and sensuality so I ordered a flacon straight away. But after trying it on my skin I realized it made me feel physically sick. Too overpowering, too sickly sweet, the strenght of amber clashed violently with overripe fruits such as cassis or mirabelle plum making this concoction unbearable. It leaves a rancid drydown so definitely a no-no unless you have a strong stomach.

This is THE sweetest thing I've ever smelt! It's like a potent honey-sugar mix. It's like... instant diabetes...! I can't even smell any of the other notes in this because they're buried somewhere deep under the sugar. Have I gotten a totally defect bottle? The perfume inside is so sweet I can't imagine anyone being able to wear it... Even Hypnose and La Vie Est Belle from Lancôme aren't this sweet, and those two are over-the-top sweet for me

In my early twenties I liked it : nice, romantic, a good day-wear scent. Something that fits to "your first love". Today I wouldn't buy it anymore :)

I smell no floral in this at all. Smells like paint thinner. I like Florals but not this one. Maybe the sample was spoiled.

I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this scent. And honestly...2 months ago i met my man just because of this perfume. MSG to ppl who gave finger down to this perfume: before u buy some scent, try it on your skin. Because its your sking which makes perfume smell perfect. Not the perfume. :-) And its not only about this scent..Before u buy something, try it on your skin and wait for 5 hours. :-) With my too good nose I sometimes suffer between ppl. But...this scent makes my day for 13 years. Its not only because it smells incedible. If u look into fragrances and check aromatherapy and compare it, this scent has something what makes your brain rest. I have never had perfume like this before and i will look for it untill it will be still available somewhere. :-) I always get compliments because of this scent. And maybe i will try to make my own one, since i love DIY stuff and homemade perfumes. Or...Yves Rocher...please could u start to make this scent again ?:-)

Another bottle that doesn’t stand because of its shape and the packaging is cumbersome for someone who likes to keep perfumes in their boxes. This makes taking out and putting back the bottle a hassle so, it wouldn’t be a rush morning choice. The spray head is shaped like a a bead and fell out when I took it out the first time and it doesn’t come with a cap like Noa. It just dawned on me that it’s impossible to travel with. From only one spray, the sourness from the fruits is already overwhelming. I didn’t feel that it’s as sweet as it’s described here which I am glad. After about 10mins I begin to smell feminite du Bois and costume national scent in the same instance. After 30mins I have to press my nose to my arm to smell anything. Silage and longevity from one spray is poor. I have a feeling spraying more wouldn’t make much difference. I will keep me bottle as my young daughter commented it smells nice. Good enough reason for me.

I bought this scent when it firts came, about 10 or more years ago. And I absolutely loved it. It was a perfect smell for a teenaged girl. I remember many people came to aks what scent I was wearing because I smelled so great. Years went by and one day I ordered this scent again, it didn't work anymore..It smelled good anyway, but it just wasn't for me any more. It is a very sweet, flowerly, lovely scent for young girls I think.

I have an original 1.7 oz bottle of this (a blind purchase) and it is very little used. On me, a sweet powdery amber is mostly what I smell and I'm just not a fan. I prefer floral rather than sweet perfumes, like Yves Rocher's Pivoine which I also have and looove! I'd like to exchange this for another, please reply to my comment if interested in an exchange. Any floral perfume regardless of size or brand will do!

I was expecting a soft, powdery vanilla/rose/gourmand type of scent. But I was way off. This smells like a pine tree, or like menthol. There must be patchouli here?! The black currant is very strong, but I can`t smell ANY of the other listed notes. The bottle do NOT match the scent at all. Yes, it`s similar to YSL Elle.

I miss this perfume so much!! It was one unique blend!! Let me tell you. Plump is the first thing that i smell, it is combined with a flower bouqet and some cranberry with dark rose wine. The lasting power was amazing!! it stayed put all day! They dont sell this no more!! They replaced it with garbage.

I didn`t expect much and therefore was not disappointed. It` s rather pleasant, and I love the plum note and the sour twist of black currant - but after half an hour it starts having a very distinct note of over ripe fruit.Probably just my skin chemistry, but it made the fragrance smell kind of cheap.

This one is back in circulation as of now. Just tested Burberry her intense, and yes there is a lot of this oldie but nice warm fragrance to detect in it. Girls! look in the back of the drawer every now and again in any and all seasons for memorable blasts from the past!

I used to have this several years ago and I remember smelling a note of rose in this one. I don't think I liked this very much... I had this so long time ago so I don't remember exactly. But I remember my mum kept complaining that this had a too strong smell. :)

This fragrance smells to me not just sweet, but also a bit sour, and very tasty also. It is a gourmand smell! You can enjoy especially plum and black currant and feel is spicy at the beggining, latter on it dries down with woodsy and vanilla notes.

I remember ordering this in 2001 from one of the Yves Rocher catalogs! It was a blind buy, but a good deal. The bottle reminds me of a flat Cacharel Noa. It’s a fruity floral amber. I still have my original bottle and it smells the same.

I expected much subtle fragrance than I found. It's too musky and strong. Bottle is so simple and cute...and the smell is loud and hard to grasp, even though there's not much in there. I gave it to my friend, Merry Christmas ! :)

This perfume seemed a bit too girlish for me, though I enjoyed the intriguing spicy-peppery note in it. It's recommendable for a younger audience, though I'm not sure if it could be still purchased from Yves Rocher.

the smell is warm and for me a bit oriental, which doesent rally suit the bottle, and by the way the bottle is very similar to noah perle, at first sight, but i like it, one of my favourites from yves rocher
