Orchidee

Back in the 1990s, I started getting Yves Rocher catalogs. Since I had previously seen the green-and-pink Yves Rocher buildings while I was studying in France, I was happy to sample their products. One of the items I ended up with was a large-size bottle of Orchidee, and I loved it! Everything about it made me feel good, from the gorgeous iridescent bottle to the lush fragrance. But I find stopper bottles less convenient to use than spray bottles, so I never used it up. Some years later, when I somehow lost access to YR products, I realized that my beloved Orchidee didn't smell like it used to. (I find that, in general, stopper bottles have a tendency to let air into the bottle and then--pouf!--there goes your lovely fragrance.) Thankfully, I still have the bottle and, while I don't feel this scent smells good enough to wear out, I sometimes wear it at home. Despite the damage that time and oxygen have dealt this beauty, it is a lush, sunny floral that instantly transports you to your own private tropical island. Like other reviewers, I wish YR would re-release this, preferably in a spray bottle. Until then, I'll have to be happy with the shadow of this glorious fragrance.

I had this perfume over 10 years ago. Yves Rocher perfumes was my "starting kit" into the world of aromas. I started with YR and then moved on to the designer perfumes. When I visited relatives just now, one of them showed me some perfumes she had. Mini bottles of different brands, among which she had 2 mini bottles of Orchidee. Since I remembered how much I liked this one, I asked if I could have one of them. It's nice to finally be able to smell this lovely scent again, after so many years. To me, the scent reminds me of Christmas, somehow. It has some notes that is in the air around Christmas when you cook Christmas dinner and bake cakes for Christmas. And it reminds me of the Christmas tree too. It must be the spices in the notes, that does it for me. It's a very comforting scent. I'm grateful that I can use it again. The longevity is amazing. Put it on in the morning and it's still there in the evening. Many expensive perfumes don't last half as long. The quality of the older YR perfumes(from 70s and 80s) are just as good as Chanel and Dior and other expensive brands today. I hope I can stumble on some more YR scents from the 70s and 80s. I miss them!

This scent is magnificent. It is quietly original, softly sensual, and amazingly versatile. I think the notes above are not quite correct, but this is *so* beautifully blended that I can't pick the notes apart. There is definitely citrus, a base of creamy sandalwood, but the rest of the blend is tangy tart floral goodness complemented by a touch of vanilla and a hint of spice, juicily green throughout the evolution. Perhaps hyacinth or LoV, a touch of lily? Manna from heaven? I have never applied a perfume and so immediately fallen in love. This is perfect for warm weather, could be lovely in winter. Warm, delicate but determined, playful yet comforting, beautifully rich, and effortlessly simple. This is lovely and deserves a try. I have already purchased two back up flacons. Just amazing. I don't know that it's distinct enough to be a signature, but it is most definitely me....and I suspect that everyone who tries this will have a similar experience. Just lovely. Perfect. Charming, without cloying, a refreshing change. LOVE. I have no idea why it's called Orchidee.

I bought a vintage bottle among a lot of various perfumes, and I think this will become one of my favorites. The scent is lovely, floral but with a plummy, jammy note from the hibiscus, and it lasts for hours. Of course, I don't just dab-dab on my wrists and behind my ears. This is an EDT which comes in a splash bottle because one is meant to use it generously, as a fragrance to spread on the forearms, inside the elbows, behind the ears and at the back of the neck. I like to perfume the backs of my hands as well, so I can discreetly enjoy my fragrance without burying my nose against my wrist. (I do take public transport, which can be quite a trial without some scent to obscure the inevitable unpleasant odors.) Rocher's Orchidee is an all-around lovely, very feminine scent that was ahead of its time. It's moderately long-lasting, and sillage is more than adequate if you apply it generously. And at this price, there's really no reason not to be generous with it.

In my early 20's, I first experienced Orchidee. I loved her and thought she was so me. I bought a 100ml bottle and used it all up quite quickly, then got caught up in the twenty-something idea of buying of more expensive perfumes. By the time I looked for a new bottle of Orchidee she was nowhere to be seen. I recently discovered that my mum still had a bottle of Orchidee and she brought it over for our Friday night sniff and a snifter session. I truly expected that, as my senses have refined with age, that I would not find it as enthralling as I did in my 20's, but how I was mistaken! It was even better than I remembered. I realised that I still love Orchidee, but can appreciate her more now my taste has developed. For a relatively inexpensive scent she is truly gorgeous and quite uniquie, but inoffensive enough to wear for work even though your colleagues may frequently ask what scent you're wearing and tell you how awesome it is!

This is gorgeous 😍. The top notes are off, it is vintage though so that's to be expected. I bought mine off eBay. The bottle is too pretty and the fragrance is nice, very nice. Soft sweet vanilla with a dash of spice and cold green something that gives it a dewdrop on bright green leaf 🌿 smell underneath the sweet real vanilla scent. The spice is there and the hiacynth is giving it the heavenly smell. I don't know what hibiscus smells like but maybe that's what's off about it? I'm waiting for that top note to burn off or something cuz it is a tiny bit of putting. Other than that, this is really a great fragrance and if it was relaunched I'm sure it would be a hit! This is one of a kind fresh, sweet, realistic vanilla and floral spice. Yet it is green and spring like. Mmmm can't wait to see what this transforms into on my skin during the dry down and mix up with my chemistry... I love these fragrances that develop ♥️

Had a bottle of this in my early 20's and remember enjoying a fresh and creamy floral sweetness. It was a great daytime/casual fragrance, more light and lively than demure and definitely nowhere near as loud as some of the more popular 80's powerhouse perfumes. It was one that you applied directly to the skin, a dab here... a dab there... and though probably more appropriate in Spring and early Summer, I didn't really consider that scents had a season back then so I wore Orchidee year round and don't recall that it performed any different in warm or cool weather. Cute bottle too with the orange ball stopper, it sat empty on my dresser for a few years before being tossed in favour of newer perfumes and no clutter, if I'm going to keep dust collectors they need to hold at least a little juice and Orchidee had been depleted of its' last drop.

This is my favourite, and really my only truly enjoyable, vintage purchase. Though usually more of a modern girl, I happily wear this. Are you familiar with Chanel Coco EDT? If you like that, there's a good chance you will appreciate this too. Orchidee opens with a bit of old-fashionedness, which generally I don't like but can tolerate happily because of what comes next - a long phase of sweet, tasteful fragrance with comfortable sillage. It's in these ways that it's quite similar to Coco EDT - initially slightly old-fashioned, but after 40-60 minutes they both transform into sweet, tasteful, persistent scents that project just enough. Orchidee is more powdery and flowery than Coco. I'd liken it to the fragrance of Oncidium Twinkle orchids. It's not exactly that scent, but close enough and quite delicious to my nose.

I'm too embarrassed to say how long I've had this bottle of Orchidee. It's one of the few fragrances I completely love. Sadly, it doesn't quite have the same freshness it had xx years ago but I still enjoy wearing it. The aroma it leaves on my clothes, the bedsheets even, it's just so intoxicating. I used to have the shower gel as well, and it was slightly different but I was crazy for it! I had one bottle, couldnt find it again and made it last almost forever (till my step daughters found it and quickly used up the last "inch" in the bottle!) The other plus to this scent is my husband's reaction to me when I wear it. It's almost too much. Heck, who needs thongs and stockings when you have Orchidee?

Orchidee will always have a special place in my heart. I bought this summer of 1992 before going off to college so naturally I’m transported back to that time whenever I wear it. There’s nothing on the market that remotely resembles this beautiful fragrance. It has a warm, sweet, soothing, sensual scent. I wish Yves Rocher would reach into their scent recipe vault and make this one again. I have hounded them several times already but need other fans who adore Orchidee to do the same. I truly believe that Yves Rocher was at their best and offering amazing products in the several years within the time of Orchidee’s release.

I re-discovered this scent recently - of course, AFTER YR stopped selling it. But I had a mini that I'd kept around for years and when I got onto my current "perfume craze," I opened it up. And fell in love. I had no choice but to haunt eBay until I could get a big bottle for my very own ... It's floral without being cloying, spicy without being overpowering, and it lasts a long time. This is definitely one you should eBay if you have a chance - or maybe a massive letter-writing campaign to Yves Rocher to bring it back (and have it available in the US!).

I have a small splash bottle of this, courtesy of eBay, but I owned a bottle circa 1997. Yes, it's old-fashioned, and that's exactly why I love it. However, for me, this isn't '90s. It's a very 1930s old Hollywood daytime oriental, "glamour light" with lots of blooming flowers and a hint of spice. The bottle is a pretty pearlescent orange that totally matches the fragrance inside it. Yves Rocher created so many magical, affordable scents years ago. Why don't they bring some of these back? I'd be their biggest customer for life.

This is pure nostalgia from a very distinct period of my life. Young teenager going through very turbulent times. I own one bottle now as well, but as some of you have mentioned, the top notes are a bit off (due to the age). Luckily I remember well how it used to smell, and I am able to restore that feeling now too. Orchidee was comforting and elegant. Utter femininity in a bottle. Kinder an lighter than many of her louder sisters of the same era. I will cherish my Orchidee forever. Just for the memories’ sake.

Wauw Orchidlover, I never smelled a similar perfume (except Nuit orchidee of course), but I will compare it to Dolce Vita for sure! I always love it when we can find a resembling perfume somewhere. Especially where it concerns Yves Rocher perfumes, that are not widely communicated about their containing notes. For example the extremely complex vintage Ispahan and it's striking resemblance to Miss Dior vintage, the notes really do not give that away.

I just cannot say what kind of effect this perfume AND bottle have on me! Just like the vintage Venice, it is just like it is magical. I feel sooo dreamy looking at the golden orange bottle, so shiny, with the glittery cap. And then the perfume itself, sooo comforting, so complete, so delicate and special. Again super dreamy and magical. I could really say it is like my soul perfume. It makes me happy and really cheerful!

I absolutely love Orchidee, it's a warm, spicy and comforting fragrance which I often wear to bed. I love its softness and the fact that it smells fabulous the minute it's applied, so many fragrances have to 'warm up' before they are palatable. Just wish it's longevity and silage were better, but I have a big bottle (thank you ebay) so can afford to be generous :)

I got a nearly full miniature-bottle of this perfume in a charity-shop for free (I also bought something else), and it still smells beautiful after all these years! I also had a tiny bottle of this beauty some thirty years ago, and, I'm so very happy to have it back in my collection, I just adore it so very much, sniffing and sniffing it in small amounts ;))

Just yesterday I was talking with Amarilia bout this one, that she found it so incredible, so I just put it on again, and I just cannot explain the beauty of this. It surpasses time, it is divine actually, it is tasteful, classy, not in your face BUT with good sillage. It is a hidden treasure, if you find it, GRAB IT!!!

I would like Yves Rocher to make a new relesae of Orchidee. I've got nice and sweet souvenirs about this perfume. But I was too young to wear it. My Mum gave me the bottle but it was empty : the only thing I could do was breathe the few lasting drops. Anybody knows where I could find it ?

Every time I put this on on a warm sunny day, it's so intoxicating!!! Sultry, sexy, sophisticated class... So warm and comforting yet sexy with the hint of spice. Very very well blended. Best vanilla perfume ever imo. I'm snatching up every FB of this I can find at the right price.

The staying power on me is enormous! When I put this on, hours and hours later it comes up from my skin, blowing in my face!!!! But maybe some people are not able to smell it, like I am not able to smell Rive Gauche. But for those who DO smell it, it keeps on smelling all day!

I wore this one today again, and I am so in love with it!! This perfume makes me feel so happy!! I really think it has something in it, a certain note, that can really lift your spirit. Almost like a medicine to me. I am really so much in love with this one..

A fresh and delicate scent with descreet floral elements that don't bother you like other floral perfumes and i think this is the secret of its success. Α really seductive perfume! I strongly recommend it.

This scent is just enchanting! Soft purple and white smelling florals backed up by soft spice and warm vanilla. It makes me feel happy and peaceful. I'm going to keep some in my collection from now on.

Orchidee of Yves Rocher, apart from being vintage fragrance from seemingly simple ingredients, is also can effortlessly make itself into same VIP room as Houbigant QF Original and feel as an equal. That's speaking about quality of old Yves Rocher ones. The bottle is simply stunning and deserves to have bigger size image on fragrantica page as well, four big leaves of orchidee on each side and the neck as flower coming out of the petals, - beautiful! All about the scent itself was written before by lovely Action and each review here is fantastic – I share their admiration absolutely and completely. I can smell a world in it – not just flowers, but separately petals, separately stems, grass around, then it goes into such a warm happy vanilla-spicy base that its almost becomes a new kind of fragrance - Flowery-gourmand-vintage-oriental)) That was best I can describe it, and this buy made me realize how much we lost As Pia have mentioned – wearing Orchidee you just feel “yourself”...About how many modern ones we can honestly say the same with hand on heart?..

To me this smells fresh, spicy and perfumy in a good way. The spice reminds me of cloves which I am not usually a fan of but in this mix I really like it. It has a very refreshing, a bit different and yet classic vibe. The freshness comes from flower notes I think, certainly no generic modern ozonic notes! It has a moderate sillage (perfect for me) but does not last long, for some hours on my skin. I can imagine wearing it summer evenings with a bunch of hipsters wearing quirky and beautiful second hand clothes! But it is also subtle enough to use as a work scent. Would probably also be very good for layering with other scents. This is the first proper spicy and proper fresh perfume I've tested that has a definite feminine edge without being sweet.

Oh, I forgot about this old friend! I bought this from the Yves rocher catalogue, with my first paycheque from my after- school job. The smell was so much stronger than anything else I had ever worn...in that it wasn't a sweet/sugar/fruit fragrance. It felt really grown up to me, without feeling like my Mums fragrance. As far as I remember, it smelled warm, hot, amber, a little orangey, and floral. It has been a long time since I smelled it though, so it may be an incorrect recollection! I loved the bottle - slightly irredescent glass with a stopper rather than a spray, and was a teen girl's romantic idea of what was sophisticated. I wear body shop's Neroli Jasmin and think it has a similar...something....to it!

I have this at home for some reason. It must super old. On my skin hyacinth is not present, but on paper I can sense it. Mostly it's spicy, old-fashioned powdery floral fragrance. There's some sweetness to it, but not in the way I'm used to. It's a strong floral sweetness. And there's not orchid note listed here, nor it's present in the fragrance, at least not in a way it's in the modern perfumes. I might use it on some days, but it couldn't be my signature scent, as it's quite strong and old-fashioned. I like it though, it reminds me of old movies and classic elegance.

I've got a small bottle of this like 15 years. I can't remember where I got it, maybe from my grandma. Naturally, I never liked this when I was in my teens. But now I've grown to like it. It's not the most youthful perfume, and it makes me think of the 80's. But it's a lovely, warm and pleasant perfume, for sure. I'm glad I didn't toss it away. I don't use it for day, I just like to splash it a little on my wrists when I go to bed. Orchidee has this wonderful creaminess that makes it a perfect "sleeping perfume." It's a shame that Yves Rocher discontinued this.

I really like Orchidee, especially when I could not decide which perfume to wear, I have been often helped by it. The scent is feminine, very decent, fresh and something very forgiving elements in it. May be, it is my favorite non-invasive floral( with a little hint of spices) which makes me feel good. The lasting power is not strong but you can mix it with a bit of glycerine to stick it with you longer :) Over all, Yves Rocher have many nice fragrances in reasonable pricing. I wish I could get a new bottle.

With so many great reviews I didn't mind going for a blind buy on eBay, and I'm so glad I did. Orchidee starts as a fresh, crispy flowery fragrance, but within minutes it dries down to a soft floral with hints of vanilla and spice. Three hours later it still holds strong but all of the ingredients meld together into a heavenly scent. Even on a hot summer day this remains a fresh and lively fragrance on my skin. Wearing this perfume brings me joy and makes me smile.

This is lovely - a soft and gentle, slightly oriental floral. As usual for older Yves Rocher fragrances this seems of very high quality especially for the price. However, it's rather faint on me. In fact, not for the first time, I managed to splll the splash bottle and got it all up my arm (and down my jeans) and it STILL isn't very strong! That's a pity becuase what I can smell of it, i like very much.

I used to own this one and its a nice creamy Orchid with soft spiciness. I liked it and haven't smelled anything similar so thats a plus because I hate when a lot of frags smell the same but this one too me is rather Unique. Wish I still had some. I will say that I would have prefered it to have a spray But the stopper is kinda pretty regardless though.:)

So many memories with this perfume... oh dear. I loved it so much as a teen. I can almost still feel that plastic cap with all the sparkles in it. Yves Rocher at the time was on point with their packaging (cosmetics and perfumes). Loved this light flowery perfume.

There are some notes that aren't listed here that I detected so I did a search online and sure enough, mandarin orange and orchid are included elsewhere. Sultry and tropical yet soft, which makes it a great scent for a hot summer day.

I got a 100ml in a flea market the other day with two thirds of the juice left. What attracted me to it was the beautiful splash bottle. I'm currently trying it on and it's such a warm beautiful scent. Classic floral

Classy and nostalgic! Reminds me of my grandmother and her home. As a vintage-lover there are days when I love to smell like that.

I kinda like this oldfashioned,quite simple floral. An orchideescent that of course is sweet ,but not cloying - very nice indeed.

I smell a greenish spicy hyacint and mellow, mild vanilla in the background. I find it quite appealing. It is very different from fragrances made today and I feel very much like MYSELF wearing it. It is not as charming and succulent as many modern scents, but it wraps you within it in a way that it becomes a part of you. I have crushes on many flirty, modern scents, but they BORE me so quickly to the point where I never feel saitisfied. Wearing this I feel kind of complete- I don ́t crave another yummy one, I am quite settled with the somewhat stand-off-ish spicyness of this one. I wish people would understand these types of scents. You need to give them time to develop and "melt" into your skin.

I have this full from my mom's collection. Not my taste due to the hycinth but a nice scent. I will be selling my unused 100ml bottle if anyone interested :/

Orchidee opens so sunny and crispy that you can't but smile. Orange/mandarin is not listed, but I am sure I get some beside hyacinth. The start is like liquid springtime, full of life! In fifteen minutes this lively blow has calmed down to a very nice flowery blend with a good dose of vanilla and something little edgy (spices?) - but sadly, now without that original burst of joy. When I first tried this after purchasing (a blind buy - you guys with your enthusiasm for scents and invaluable knowledge 1. arouse one's interest and thus 2. ruin one's budget... to the degree, that I have bought over 40 perfumes blindly only relying on your good taste and, may I say, NOT in vain!) I thought: Well, this is it. I was totally content but not overly impressed. When time went by, Orchidee became creamier. It felt definitely feminine. About 4-5 hours later something happened. Was it my chemistry or the perfume itself, who knows. EK says on her wonderful review, that she got a lot of spices after seven hours (kind of Iceberg's The Fragrance without pistachio and vanilla, if I understood right). I got something else (one of these days I have to compare this - wrist to wrist - to ITF which I also own), namely vanilla AND bergamot together, not orange as at first, but dry and savoury bergamot oil from the same olfactory family as orange. Hmmm...I just checked, ITW has also vanilla and bergamot. I really have to compare these two soon... So, Orchidee offered a surprise after so many hours! It was never too loud but there was enough projection to keep one satisfied from the beginning to the end. And the metamorphosis in the course of time was impressive; a kind of round-trip, when you, returning home after years, find that some things in your hometown have changed, some are gone forever, some are vaguely same and some are almost like before you left. I have a set of 4 miniature bottles. Now, unfortunately this is the only way one can experience Orchidee, as a vintage miniature splash bottle. It smells much better applied directly on the skin as a pure parfum. This is the day time/casual scent version of the evening cologne that is Nuit D'Orchidee. Orchidee is supposed to have orchid although it's not listed and yet it really does smell like there is an orchid note. It's not as strong or as much of it as in Nuit D'Orchidee. This was hard to figure out but I took my time smelling it/analyzing it. It seems the notes would go like this: Top Notes: Mandarin Orange Orchid Water Lily Hyacinth Middle Notes: Hibiscus Jasmine Ylang-Ylang Spices Base Notes: Sandalwood Amber Vanilla This is what I smelled anyways. The fragrance opens with a light citrus, fresh but fleeting. It gets into that orchid note right away. The other floral touches are clearly there: hyacinth, hibiscus, water lily, jasmine, Ylang-Ylang. It's mostly a floral fragrance but I was disappointed this was not a big orchid scent. It was mainly a bouquet of different flowers, although still very very beautiful. The creaminess of the dry down is to die for. I could smell the vanilla and sandalwood and clean warm golden amber. This is a feel good fragrance. It lasts and lasts for hours all day and it has a delicious almost gourmand sorta vibe without having any gourmand touches at all, other than vanilla. Sweet, enchanting and wearable in the spring and summer as an elegant but yet casual scent. I recommend it for fans of minis and vintages.
