Rose Absolue

My story with rose absolue is rather strange, It had been a long time since I was searching for a pure rose or tonka bean scent since I love both notes and when I saw this perfume I thought It could be an option for me to see how the combination would work.What I was expecting was a pure innocent rose scene and when I sprayed it for the first time...oh God huge disappointment, It seemed to be the most old-fashioned scent I ever smelled and I even contacted the seller to ask if the bottle was old because most of the reviews were positive. Then I sprayed it on my wrist and MADE myself to tolerate it, it was so unpleasant that I wanted to wash it off.... And I fell in love in 10 minutes...after experiencing a lot of hate-love feelings...The scent almost made me cry, I don't know if I am super emotional or just scents are so powerful that they can awake past memories...The scent was like a bunch of all my past memories both good and bad came to my head at once. I even do not get too much roses, In fact I don't get any notes separately , they are so well-blended that you cannot say it is only a rose perfume... For me the smell is nostalgic(even sad) very dark, bitter and rather sweet...suitable for all seasons maybe except hot summer days...and I think it suits all ages maybe except teenagers. If you are searching for a very light and very trendy happy rose you are in the wrong place. This rose is dark , very dark but wearable...The scene is romantic but not in a sexy sweet modern way but in a deep serious & poetic way...it is simple but rich. A masterpiece. The bottle I have is Rose Absolue Edt (not eau frache or Edp)I dont know if the EDP is much different or not. I have several perfumes but this one is my dearest perfume that I will never give away.

Yves Rocher Rose Absolue (perhaps Rose Tonka or Rose Ambre would be a better name) is as much an Oriental as it is a Rose perfume. It flirts with becoming a sweet gourmand but never quite agrees to remove its rosy cloak. The top and middle are a lovely blend of rose and tonka, with light cinnamon and wood side notes and a plummy fruit that seems to come and go. For my nose, I know that it is blended to perfection because one time I smell and it seems rosy, the next time it seems more sweet ambery, the third time it is mildy spicy. If, like me, you are not a fan of unadulterated rose but you love it as a note among others, this could be the rose that wins your heart. It is the only perfume with ROSE in its name that I love - I have an inkling that if I wear this now and again for a few months I might start to appreciate other rose perfumes more by olfactory association. Sadly, it appears to be discontinued but you can still find it here and there on-line at reasonable prices. Later note - I have worn this now many times (I still love it) and sure enough it lured me into liking rose! I even increasingly like rose soliflores, though I refuse to wear them in public. Maybe if I spiked my hair and wore chains and leather I would have the cojones to wear a rose soliflore in public, but that ain't happening so I will enjoy them at home.

I adore this perfume. Of all the rose scents I’ve tried, Rose Absolute is one of the sweeter ones. It’s not sugary-sweet; it’s a warm, rounded sweetness. Just a hint gourmand, with a tiny bit of booziness to it. This is a gorgeous, cozy combo of rose petals, tonka, spices and cinnamon. Absolutely more of a floriental than a straight floral. I first smell the dewy-fresh rose petals when I spray this on. The spices emerge most strongly in the heart notes, but they don’t overwhelm the rose or turn the perfume musty. The thick, sweet tonka bean note is there pretty much through the whole composition, but is strongest in the drydown. The tonka, rose and cinnamon mix so wonderfully, and come out smelling like a sensual, decadent, spiced rose-vanilla dessert. Very comforting and inviting. This is quite unusual for a rose scent. I don’t usually think of rose-based perfumes as being cozy, but this one definitely is. Despite this quality, the sweet, creamy notes don’t ever overwhelm the natural delicate aroma of the rose petals. The sillage and lasting power are quite good – I can still smell this on myself hours after spraying it on. A very successful blind buy indeed.

Goooouuurgeooussss! I'm so glad I tested this and I will purchase for sure asap even if I have to drive back to the only shopping mall I can find it! I tested it in EdP. It's impressive. I smell a glorious intense red rose and bulgarian essential rose quality. I also smell a fruity note but very faint (thanks god). I think it's very feminine, not something I would like to smell on a man. It's a beautiful rose scent and I smell almost no powder in it (double thanks god and Christine Nagel)! Honestly I don't smell patchouli here. Maybe it's just perfectly blended in you don't detect its strong note that kills anything else. It has lasting power, good sillage, refined basenote that support the beautiful rose without sinking it. Everything is just so balanced in this scent, not a sexual scent for sure but delicately sensual nonetheless. It swifts around me as I move, it's not a stiff scent like an armour (so many scents are like that) Thumbs up for this! Also nice layered with Voile d'ambre!

This is such a gorgeous luscious rose scent. The combination has beauty and complexity but it feels effortless and natural. It is bright and fresh on the opening. I think I feel a bit of bergamot. Then it turns into smooth heavenly rose with a hint of spice, mostly cinnamon. Patchouli adds just a touch of wood on the dry down. There is nothing that I would add or remove from this scent. It has this perfect harmony. If I would compare it to Stella Nude, another rose fragrance I like. Stella would be like a young innocent princess, soft and gentle. Rose Absolu is a gorgeous young Queen. Her beauty is beyond comparison. She is sensuous but classy. She carries herself with an aura of dignity but without vanity or pride. I can see her walking in the garden dressed in a gorgeous pink satin gown. All other flowers bow in silence to her eternal beauty. I would definitely recommend it to everyone who loves rose scents.
