So Elixir Bois Sensuel

Most of the time YR does not let me down and again they nailed it! Like most of my buys are blind, I love to take a little risk in life. Walking on the edge ;-) A few weeks ago my mail inbox got the message that YR was putting some selected items on sale, big discount up to 70%. And hey who doesn't like to grab a perfume for a good price? I spy with my little eye the purse spray 15 ml edp for only €4,- so I took the jump and order three of them. After a few days it arrived and curious as I was I rip of the paper and start to spray myself. Patchouli? Yes sir and a very nice patch it is. The iris is to my nose soft but is making the patch softer, and my mind makes a switch...Flowerbomb? I do not want to make a quick comparison. You always need to let the perfume air and take it's time to settle down. After 30 minutes the patch is soft but you can smell that it is the base of the whole compilation. The iris and the vanilla makes it kind of flowery but soft and sweet. I love a good patch. It is one of my favorite notes. So this is one right up my alley! Happy with this little stash I scored. If you like flowerbomb and want to buy something kind of like that but for a smaller price you can try this gem. It is not like flowerbomb all the way but my opinion they share the same DNA.

The first thing I thought when getting a sniff of Bois Sensuel (after being blown away by how intoxicatingly lovely it is) is how reminiscent it is of Queen Latifah's "Queen of Hearts". Oh, it's by no means a dupe; but they both have an eerily similar honey-boozy Southern Belle vibe. The problem with Queen of Hearts is it's a very pretty fragrance that comes across as diluted and fleeing- which unfortunately is the case with most celebrity scents. But while Queen of Hearts is gossamer, Bois Sensuel has weight and depth. The scent itself is well balanced and hits just the right accords. It's vanillic but not annoyingly so. It has a brown sugar sweetness but doesn't take it to the gourmandish stratosphere like Shalimar. It has a honey-whiskey booziness, but not to the point where it has to be carried out of the bar and put in a cab. And you can get a good seven plus hours out of it on the skin. Yay! Is it super-complicated? Nah. And it's not trying to be. It's simply a lazy summer evening in Atlanta, sitting on the back porch with a few friends and enjoying a tall glass of iced tea. This stuff's a winner. Great date night fragrance. Love it. I also think (and some might disagree) Bois Sensuel is somewhat unisex. Fellas can totally pull this off.

Simple. Exudes warmth, comfort and sensuality. Very down to earth, real and grounded fragrance. Absolutely lovely. So Elixir Bois Sensuel is the type fragrance that cradles you in its coziness. It caresses you with its simple and comforting notes. Very natural and SEXY perfume which comes across to me as a golden, basking ray of warm light. Although a bit sweet, SEBS is not sugary sweet, I do not get gourmand. IMHO this perfume would be perfect for a romantic evening or a day of solitude enjoying your own company. Although the throw is wonderful, it is a tender, kind type of throw. Sillage is better than average and longevity is good. Simple, yet ohhh so sexy in a earthy way. The patch is perfection in SEBS. I see myself and SEBS having a very long and steady relationship. Kudos to Yves Rocher...you nailed this one! Beautiful, Sincere and GLORIOUSLY UNCOMPLICATED. I think this will be a go to when I want simplicity and have the need to escape the floral and sugar bombs in my collection. This has a bit of a vibe, SIMILAR to Sensuous Noir from Estee.

My signture for five years or so. Very comforting, very warm and for me very safe. Reminds me of Carolina Herrera 212 Sexy, but without the rose pepper that makes 212 sexy so sexy. So in my opinion this is better. I can also found similarities with Lancôme La Vie Est Belle but Bois Sensuel is sweeter and not at all harsh or synthetic and has very much nicer drydown that lasts an lasts. Very sensual and deep. More complex than the notes suggest. Vanilla is not as dark as in YR Vanilla Noir and it is not definitely synthetic or cheap. Patchouli and iris are much the same as in YR Autour de Minuit, but there is the warmth of vanilla that Autoir De Minuit doesn't have. Bois Sensuel is a warm perfume that is great for long, cold winter nights. To me this is really comforting and I use it when I'm going to sleep or need comfort. Not a teen perfume. I would say 25+ or even 30+

I received a 15ml bottle of So Elixir Bois Sensuel with another Yves Rocher purchase. Several months ago when I tested it in the YR store I wasn’t too impressed; but now that I’m wearing it it’s started to grow on me. It’s a typical Olivier Cresp fragrance, very much in the vein of TM Angel and its countless flankers, dominated by a sweet patchouli amplified by vanilla and iris. The opening is very similar to Angel, and it stays very sweet for another hour or so, but then the earthy-woody aspect prevails and the scent develops in that direction. I really like it, and the fact that it is so affordable is an added bonus. It smells much more expensive than it is. On my skin it lasts approximately 5-6 hours; the sillage is quite good in its sweet phase, but as it becomes woodier it turns into a skin scent.

Very well blended, and after a longer period of averege perfumes from Yves Rocher, this is a more than a very welcome guest. Here in Norway it became available just in 2020, even if it has been around longer than that in other countries. I am currently in a period of deeper and warmer scents, and Bois sensuel fits that perfectly. It lacks the little extra zing from being my evening choice. But it for sure is an absolute fav when I want to feel a bit luxury in the office. Even if it is a patchouli frag, I love that it digs deeper than the other typical patchoulis around, such as Coco mademoiselle and Yves Rocer’s own So Elixir and Mon Evidence, which I find all to be a bit too linear and girly. If you like the above mentioned scents, but would like to add a bit more depth and warmth, try Bois Sensuel.

It's one of the perfumes that get to smell better in time. After the first spritz the notes are not quite together, but after some time they mingle together into a perfect woody-vanilla-rosy blend. I know, rose is not listed but I can detect some deep red or even black rose note here. Another note not listed that I can smell is black cherry but again - really soft. Patchouli is extremely delicate and it's this natural essential patchouli oil that I get here, not the so called "patch" that is the alleged "patchouli" in stuff such as Miss Dior New or Coco Mad. Here it's REAL. At first the perfume reminds me of Avon Prowl a bit but soon the hideous note disappears while in Prowl it persists. This perfume is a really natural combination, perfect for cloudy autumn days. Love it!!!

DIRTY COMPLIMENTS _______________________________________________________ A few months ago, I went into the Yves Rocher store to try a new fragrance. I had never heard of 'BOIS SENSUEL' and tried it out. After that, I couldn't smell anything else. 'BOIS SENSUEL' is incredibly strong and loud. You can sense the dirty patchouli in the lead. During the dry down, the patchouli makes room for the vanilla, however the dirty remains - mainly because of the iris. I got a lot of compliments from male collegues, who couldn't believe it to be a female fragrance. For it's price, it is really powerful and great. Longetivity: - 7/10 Sillage: - 10/10 (humogous) All in all: 9 out of 10 points. P.S. some of my female collegues compaired it to 'Gucci Guilty Intense'.

This is the most beautiful patchouli scent I have smelled until now. It is so sweet and the patchouli note makes it nutty. Mixed with the vanilla it makes this scent a very sophisticated gourmand. A friend of mine has given me a mini. She had it in a set of three (together with Moment de Bonheur and Quelques notes d'amour) and she said she didn't like it because she found it "too sweet". It is quite sweet, ideed, but it is so nice to my nose. The patchouli note is so natural as well, very similar to the essential oil. The sillage is pretty good, it lasts also quite long :) The drydown (after ten minutes or so) remindes me of Avon's Far Away, or at least the bottle which my mom had in the late 90s :)

Just sprayed this about 10min a go. So far, it is a winner..! Nice warm opening, yes, even a bit Angel-esque (I cannot wear Angel) but in a good way. There was a moment where I got a whiff of the iris and though “oh no, what is that doing here, it’s turning weird” but then it mellowed and made sense. I can also understand the comparison to LVEB, there are similar notes (but of course this is missing quite a lot of the LVEB composition). The iris and patch are related for sure. Will have to update later on about longevity etc, but right now it is just gorgeous. Great simple combination, feels really sensual and beautiful without being too much. I could see this becoming a favorite!

I love the original So Elixir, but I was expecting to find this too strong. I was wrong! I have been wearing this every day for a week and I keep loving it more and more. Sometimes at the end of a day, I will think "what smells so good?" and it's the final sweet drydown of Bois Sensuel. Note: As mentioned, the bottle pictured here is not the full size version. The 50ml bottle is exactly the same as the So Elixir bottle, except for the colouring. The Bois Sensuel bottle is medium brown in colour, with a deeper brown at the bottom of the bottle, sort of an ombre effect.

There are fragrances that smell good, and others that beside smelling pretty enhance your prettiness at the same time. And this is one of those. Smells like an amber stone. I would wear this on warm summer days, not like super hot but warm. It's like you shower yourself in the rays of the red and golden twilight rays. Late summer afternoons, when the hot chilly atmosphere is thrilled by cooling windy blows. Has an alternative kind of preciousness, can be adapted on a slightly elegant-slightly edgy look. It's like you didn't try, gives you an easy going noble allure.

Very nice. A woodsy gourmand. It is quite sweet and decadent. Although patch is listed it is not heavy here. There is definitely a lot of sweet vanilla and some iris. There is something almost spicey and fruity as well. I like this better than So Elixir actually. There is plenty of wood in this to prevent it turning into yet another LVEB wannabe. There is not much iris and not enough patch to make it similar to iris noir. Great longevity and impressive sillage. Its definitely one of the better Yves Rocher fragrances.

On my skin, I get overwhelming patchouli, vanilla, and iris, which is exactly what it says on the label, but it's a lot more complex. The fragrance spreads well and you are enveloped in a halo of fragrance with just two pumps. There's plenty of vanilla, but it's not a gourmand vanilla, it's a dark and sexy finish. This is a scent that is not readily accepted in Japan, but I love it! It exudes the sexiness and ease of an independent, mature woman.

A very delicious gourmand Patchouli Vanilla scent with a hint of iris that makes it a bit uplifting and less rough-smelling. Very simple in composition, but still very powerful and effective, a great winter scent for someone who is over 25. For some reason, it has a rose jam aspect to it, which I do not mind at all because I love sweet rose scents. Projection 7/10 Longevity 8/10 Scent 8/10 Very impressive from Yves Rocher!

It's chilly here is SE England tonight. I've just sprayed Bois Sensuel and the patchouli smells almost chocolatey on first application. Not particularly powdery, the non-sweet vanilla is creamy and supports that chocolate-patchouli beautifully. Three notes (with the iris) in perfect harmony. This is glorious. I am wearing it to work tomorrow.

I am so glad I purchased this - it's so rich and only consists of three notes perfectly balanced in an exquisite accord. I wear it even now when it's hot and we all know how hard is to find sexy gourmand with patch that can be worn in summer. I wish it was more longlasting, but damn it does smell sooo good, sexy and provocative.

At last something interesting again from Yves Rocher. Several fine fragrances have disappeared over the years and been replaced with harmless tuttifrutti fragrances. It will be interesting to test this one. Might get a mini when placing an order in fall. Who knows? Hope so. The notes seem really promising.

Beautiful, rich and sultry. On my skin the sweetness is very discreet. I've never thought that I would be impressed so much by a perfume with patchouli as a main note. Silage is moderate on me, after 4-5 it turns into a smokey, sexy skin scent.

Hey!!! I'm quite impressed!!! For not being quite an expensive fragrance , this one sure ranks up there with the best of them. This reminds me of a softer version of Thierry Mugler's' Angel Muse. I love this! A wonderful blind buy.

I received a sample and it reminds me a bit of black Armani Si. Patchuli and vanilla are noticable. It starts strong and then it settles into smooth vanilla powdery scent. The drydown is cosy and elegant.

Noble iris on hippy vibe patchouli. And an harmonious dose of vanilla to assemble body and warm up. I don't like vanilla normally. Bois sensuel is sensuel, feminine yet groovy. Lovely

Can't wait to try this, I love iris. The bottle shown in the picture is the mini version (5ml), I think the bigger bottles will be the same as the other So Elixir perfumes.

I like it. The patchouli is strong, so I layer this fragrance with Les Plaisirs Nature - Miel YR ! Thats very nice for me ! <3

I get the most compliments when wearing this fragrance. For me it’s a sweet sandalwood with a come-hither dry down.

I wonder why this is called 'Bois Sensuel', it doesn't smell very woody and there are no woods in the note list either. But it's a beautiful scent, and I'd say that's more important than a logical name. The three minimalistic components are balanced out perfectly. I can't even say which note is the strongest. Patchouli gives the perfume its typical earthy, chocolate-like aroma. Thankfully this is neither a sharp and clean, nor a very dirty patch, but the perfect middle ground. Vanilla adds some warm sweetness and iris counters it with a fresh, powdery scent, so the perfume is neither cloying nor too cold. So Elixir Bois Sensuel is relatively light and unintrusive for a floral oriental, which makes it a great choice for work and casual occassions in fall or winter, especially for those days when you just don't know what to wear and just need a warm and comforting scent that is easy to wear and not overwhelming. This doesn't make a huge statement, it's not complicated or edible or an in-your-face sexy fragrance, but it's still feminine and not boring. It's a strong like for me, not quite a love, but I'm glad to have a small 15 ml bottle of it for those uninspired winter days. This is available for a very good price and sometimes even for free (like all YR scents), but it doesn't smell cheap at all.

I had it and I liked it but wasn't in LOVE with it. And yet, whenever I wore it, people went crazy over it. Multiple times total strangers stopped me on the street to tell me how insanely good I smell or to ask me which exact perfume I was wearing. I got complimented all the time on nights out, by friends or in university... Its sillage isn't that impressive as well as its longevity, so my bottles ran out pretty quickly. The scent is deeper and more layered than you'd expect from a mid-price ranged perfume by Yves Rocher. There's a lot of warmth, subtle sweetness but also the right amount of roughness and darkness to set it apart from girly, youthful gourmands. I notice dark caramel, sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, iris. Sweet but far from sugary, mature but not antiquated. It won't suit teenagers or very girly, playful types but when worn by the right person, it's an absolute crowd pleaser. Never found another perfume that had such an effect on others.

As one of my favourite perfumes is So Elixir Purple, I always look forward to Yves Rocher's new perfumes releases, maybe I could find another gem. This was such a nice surprise, I liked it from the start. It's very warm, amber-y like, woodsy. I definitely smell the vanilla, which is a true vanilla like in vanilla sticks not vanilla-sugary candy. I also smell a lot of patchouli, which again I love especially combined with warmer sweeter aromas. And lots of non-descript woodsy notes, the likes of which you can smell in luxury men colognes. This is why I concur with other reviewers saying that this fragrance can be worn by men too. It's quite unisex, although it does settle into a warmer softer sweeter scent. Very good longevity for the price - almost an entire working day - with moderate sillage. Clothes will smell for days. More appropriate for colder temperatures, I think it will be overbearing and sticky in hot days.

Probably one of those "get it before it's gone" cases at yves Rocher. Unfortunately, they seem to have a tendency to discontinue the better scents. At first I didn't think much of So Elixir Bois Sensuel... it struck me as being too much, sweet heavy patchouli. However I have been using the body lotion and shower gel quite often, to layer with other scents (e.g.other patchouli scents, SPI, DHI, etc etc). This winter I have again used my bottle of SEBS and lo and behold... it smells way better than what I remember. It may get better with time, so possibly the previous review where someone said they repurchased and liked it better could be that they acquired a more mature bottle (?). For all those who think SEBS is "too much" and they would wish a little more refinement and iris, try out the (limited edition) Autour de Minuit by Yves Rocher. It is similar, but without the vanilla.

Hmmmm.... Well, the good news is, that for the price ($28 CDN on eBay) I am extremely satisfied. It's a very pretty fragrance. Upon first spray I was wondering if it might be a touch masculine (I guess that was the patchouli), but after a bit of dry down, the softer floral-vanilla notes started to take over - although a pleasant hint of patchouli still remained. The bad news is that by the 2 hour mark, I had to put my nose right to my wrist to even know I was wearing anything. It just didn't last at all. However, for the price, I could keep it in my purse and reapply several times a day if I really wanted to. Overall - I'm extremely please with the actual scent, but definitely not overjoyed with it's staying power.

Another perfume that would reminds us of "Autour de Minuit" by YR and Eau Corsée by Sephora, given the presence of Patchouli and Iris. But they don't really look alike, because here the iris is not dominant (phew! finally!) and it is the presence of vanilla that makes all the difference. The patchouli-vanilla combo is very successful, and this little touch of iris gives it a very sophisticated character. But I don't really like wearing it because I think it doesn't suit my personality. I also find it best worn by a mature woman, above 30s. On the other hand I like to wear it sometimes when I am alone :-) I find it comforting, round and warm especially during the cold winter evenings! Very nice bottle! 6/10

A perfume that seems to gradually transform into other YR fragrances. Nothing new, but definitely not boring, either. The first note that I caught after applying to my skin was the iris (I actually thought it resembled Iris Noir), then it quickly started to smell like the original So Elixir, but with a stronger woody/vanilla accord. Now I'm getting a version of La Vie Est Belle / Quelques Notes d'Amour that is slightly less suffocating. Good quality perfume, interesting but still too sweet for me, definitely an evening scent. Wouldn't wear it often. P.S. I think it also reminds me of Paco Rabanne's Olympea, but the salty note in the latter really makes a difference.

I must start by saying I like it and I will continue by explaining why. It starts with a bang of all its ingredients, a bit overwhelming in a way. Then, the patchouli and the vanilla take front seat. This stage wasn't my favourite as it reminded me of Angel, but not as dirty. Afterwards, it just kept getting better and better. The patchouli calmed down, so did the vanilla, revealing a lovely iris supported by some woodiness in the background. This drydown is my favourite. Feminine but not girly, long-lasting but not a bomb, this perfume smells more expensive than it is. Worth a go, anytime! Fully recommended!

Where have you been all my life, Yves Rocher? This So Elixir Bois Sensuel is gorgeous! I'm not usually a fan of Patchouli or anything too Woody but this is FANTASTIC and dare I say it's way better than Flowerbomb or Angel. Both those scents just never get past the Patchouli for me. The initial spray is quite strong at first but quickly dissipates into a melange of woody floral and patchouli (not a lot, just right.) The weather's cooled down to the high 40s at night. I am sipping a cup of English Breakfast and enjoying this scent next to the window. Sigh!!

This was my winter signature couple of years ago, loved it, way better than original So Elixir in my opinion. But last winter I repurchased it and love turned to like. Somehow it was different and I'm looking at a full bottle. Sillage is good, longevity very good. Still a nice smell for the price. Yves Rocher fragrances are real steal, high quality for a fraction of a price. I have at least five of their perfumes in my collection and they don't disappoint.

I don't recognise the reviews given. To my nose this is aldehyde, sharpness, soapy and a bit cold. For me its more like l'eau d'Evidence kind of perfume. Not a clone but in the line of. I like it its strong and you smell it for a while. Longtivity and projection are above moderate. So you can see how different the same perfume perform on different skin.

WOOOOOOOOOW! That first hit is 100% grape KoolAid. Then it takes at least 2 hours to get past that super, duper sweet layer. It may be better in winter, but it is far too sweet even in A/C during the summer. It could even be a bad blind buy for me. We shall see in the winter!

A duet of patchouli and vanilla accompanied by iris. Smells lovely in autumn/winter, but too harsh in warmer weather. Sillage is soft to moderate and it lasts about eight hours. I should also mention a passing similarity to Angel (or maybe Angel Muse) drydown.

Nice modern oriental perfume, already very discounted at local YR. It smells sweet patchouli and cosy/sexy, so nothing groundshattering new and original, but a nice warm one, less screechy than most YR. Definetely an affordable winner for winter.

Soft oriental scent. It's sweet, warm, and vanilla-like with a hint of the Orient. There's a certain sensuality close to the skin and intimacy. It becomes more pronounced on fabrics, where it pleasantly envelops.

Wonderful fragrance of patchouli and vanilla for winter days! It’s quite generic but Yves Rocher’s products are really cheap and still hold great quality, while being eco-friendly!

My favorite out of the So Elixir series. It does remind me of the original So Elixir, but this is a woody vanilla interpretation of it. Absolutely delightful.

This is a dupe of "Lancome-La vie est belle EDP" The sillage and longevity is very good. I wish I could find 50 ml size in Thailand.

If Flowerbomb were 10x louder, and had a baby w/ LVEB, this would be that baby. Soooo strong. But nice.
