Vie Privée

OMG!! When I first smelled this I was immediately transported to where I grew up in rural Pennsylvania. Just after dawn, in early May when the first crocuses have died, the tulips are losing their petals and the dew-drenched lilac hedges are beginning to open their buds!! Running barefoot in meadows, with the sun on your face, and not a care in the whole wide world... As the first drops of this miraculous juice hit my skin, I detected something very bitter and it immediately evaporated as the perfume permeated my skin and dried, leaving a slight sheen and only succulent greens, beautiful florals and a little bit of paradise behind. Lilacs blooming...my absolute favorite smell in the entire world...alongside cool irises, soft sensual freesia and crisp bright daffodils (my birth flower) make me feel young and carefree again! A budding rose causes my inner schoolboy to giggle and think of his first love. *blushes* I took the mini bottle my mother has, inverted it and pulled out the stopper. I touched the stem of the cap to my hand not once, but twice; and the dropper never emptied!! Now, an hour and a half later I am still wrapped in springtime beauty, floral euphoria and my heart is still pounding with joy!! Each and every successive sniff makes me close my eyes, sigh deeply and just float way... Sillage: great Longevity: amazing Overall: 4.75/5 Stunning! How anyone can call the re-release (from 2008) Vie Privee, is beyond me! Compared to this elixir, it is Vie Blasee! Before I smelled the original, it was very nice...now to utter this name for the '08 version is utter blasphemy! How this could have ever been discontinued is (once again) beyond me. It seems as this company advances, it is actually re-gressing and not pro-gressing. This is one of the few perfumes I have EVER smelled that has actually caused a physiological change in my body! Vie Privee, that is: Private Life, is it not? This, for me, is a very private thing. I would only wear it to be in touch with Nature, and then reverently...it brings me into the arms of Gaia (the Earth) and fills me with wonder and near religious awe!!! Action: How can I ever thank you for this superb gift?

If you've got freesia fever, Vie Privee is your prescription. I knew I needed more of that fresh floral heaven in my life after trying L'eau D'Issey, where the freesia note shone on my skin. It sparkled. So crisp. It made me feel so clean. Yes, I know, I'm late to the game and everyone's sick of L'eau D'Issey and freesia. Don't care. Gimme more. Enter Vie Privee. I'm so glad I went and blind bought a bottle on the 'bay. It's the final boss of freesia, just like I was hoping it would be, with all of its freesia glory and its sidekick, lilac. It's a little soapy, and I'm cool with that; totally expected, plus it adds to the clean factor I wanted. Doesn't smell dated at all to me. Also got the husband stamp of approval (he has to put up with my usual heavier perfume options). Major win! My only gripe is... it's discontinued. Longevity is a few hours, but I really enjoy re-spraying this one anyway because it is SUCH a pick-me-up. This is going into my "fresh out of the shower" perfume category. Vie Privee, I crown thee: Madame Freesia. Overall: fresh, clean-smelling, cheerful, perfect for Spring and Summer day-wear.

Blind buy for the floral notes, Vie Privee is a big winner! Yves Rocher scents tend to work for me, and this is no exception: strong green notes and abundant flowers make this a delight. The "if you like this" chart above shows Anais Anais, and it's a fine comparison, as is the one to Cabotine. AA is frosty cold next to VP's green warmth. There's a slightly soapy note in VP, but it's not strong enough to spoil the composition. The green bottle with the calla lily stopper is adorable! VP is very wearable and appropriate for work. YR scents often don't have much projection, they sink into the skin and persist for a long time. VP is a feminine scent, lighthearted and youthful. I'm neither, but I still love it!

I recently bought a bottle of the body spray. I didn't know that it existed. The bottle was used from an eBay purchase. I love buying perfumes used at a good price that way I can try something I've never used without a huge investment. I can then buy a larger version without any fear. I have found several good fragrances I've never used or even heard of. I ordered several bottles of this on line now and they are delightful. I'm a floral girl & this fragrance does it for me. The Rochas line is wonderful & highly appealing to me. On this page it suggest Pivonne & Nina Richi's ĺ air de Temps & I totally agree. I love those fragrances as well.

I put this on the back of my hand today and not very impressed with its rather chemical opening just left it sitting there...In about an hour, I started catching whiffs of something truly divine - like a lush but delicate flower meadow after rain. I started sniffing my t-shirt, wondering maybe it's the fragrance from the other day, completely lost trying to remember what it is...Then it dawned on me - I completely forgot that I have put Vie Privee on my hand! Just one squirt generated seriously large wafts of that gorgeous tropical monsoon garden with a tiny powdery touch of narcissus. What a pleasant surprise, I must say.

I love everything about this, and see it as one of those rare things, a perfectly realized perfume, gorgeous from open to finish. The florals are so fresh, open air fresh, powerful, evocative of Spring, but with a green tone, opening with a beautiful jasmine and orange blossom, followed by a rose, and then a stunning lilac. The drydown is so compelling, my nose found my wrists irresistible for hours. It pulls in closer over time, a very aptly named private scent. I just discovered this fragrance, and am seriously smitten. this review is for the vintage.

Vie Previe is one of those fragrances that once you have smelled it you never forget it. It is like no other. Beautiful, classy, different and you always want to have it available for when you want to go to that special fragrance induced nirvana. Why this was discontinued? They say it was not selling enough, I can not believe that!

I never forget this, even though it has been about 20 years since I had it. But I can remember the elegant, fresh floral scent. I was young when I had this, and it made me feel like a more grown up lady. This is the scent of spring and early summer. Yves Rocher has created many affordable, yet fine and memorable perfumes.

The best perfume ever. As said before, it changes you. It takes you to an other dimension, on the wings of flowers, plants and emotions. I'm sorry about not releasing it again. Not for work, not for party: it's just for you and the love of your life. Simply perfect.

I have only a miniature, but WOW! I don't usually like florals but this is just beautiful!Such a delicious bouquet of flowers, it sets so well on my skin :-) I want a big bottle now !

My favourite of all the old YR scents...I was rather young when I got it and I felt soo grown up and sophisticated. Liked how it wasn't sweet at all, just elegantly floral.

A beautiful light floral. Quite sharp at the start, which I love, and then settles into a lovely, gentle, delicate flower garden. Very good quality; very special.

Vie Privée An Exceptional multidemensional Floral Fragrance You know the phrase: Good things come to he who waits? Yes it's true .. especially for Vie Privée When the ugly synthetic/chemical opening phase is over you will be rewarded with this breath taking multifloral scent. I detect: Multiple florals, the green stem, the leaf, and sweetness of flowery nectar and woodsiness, that stands timidly in the background. Oh they all beautifully and harmoniously mingle in one smooth sand-blasted jade-green bottle. I am fortunate enough to be able to get a hold of the original mini. I will definitely treasure my little bottle as long as I can. Before Vie Privée dries down I smell something that reminds me of salted sweet plums. There is a mild saltiness to Vie Privée and I'm loving it. Vie Privée is the type of scent I would not wear for anyone else. The I more I inhale the more I want to inhale. Goodness .. this classic is going to cause me to pass out from hypocapnia!!!! Update: I found Chaumet Chaumet for women to be similar to Vie Privee. Try!

Omg, this one brings back sooo many memories. I think it was one of the very first fragrances I ever had in my teen years during the beginning of the 90s. I can still smell the intriguing combination of flowers and how the sillage was absolutely of perfection. The scent ripened into a heavenly good, airy and fresh breeze after a rather sharp opening. The secret of wearing Vie privee was really simple: just don't overdo it since a little goes a long way. And you shouldn't be too hasty, it was important to endure through the sharp initial notes because what came next (the incredible, sophisticated, romantic whiffs..) were so worth waiting for :) Shame that YR discontinued Vie privee.

I had this perfume as a tween and young teen. It probably smelled too mature for me because I didn't wear this often but when I did I felt quite refined. It's a very dry white and green floral from what I remember but very charming and womanly. It applies a bit sharp and a little grassy but tones down quickly while never losing its edge. It continues to soften over time until it picks up a little bit of a powdery honeysuckle smell in its final hours. I enjoyed the art of the bottle so much. It was gifted to me by my botanist aunt who taught me to love flowers and plants from a young age. Looking back, she did well gifting this to me as a first fragrance for a coming of age.

Beautiful! This scent is actually pretty amazing. The opening smells like a green, fresh spring morning right before the sun hits the garden. Then it blooms into a grove of fragrant lilac trees that are surrounded by delicate iris, freesia, narcissus and early spring roses. Heavenly! It reminds me of the song "Morning Has Broken". "Sweet the rains new fall, sunlit from Heaven Like the first dewfall on the first grass. Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden Sprung in completeness where His feet pass."

This one was a total waste of money: powdery soapy green (which can be very nice - don't get me wrong!) would disappear into an invisible perfume-sucking void before it even settled!! - it smelled of nothing on the skin, not even powder. What I bought could have been plain water in a bottle: I can't believe someone dared actually charge for this.

A little bit more than 25 years ago I had this on my weddingday! I remember it as crisp and fresch, and even in fall it worked out fine. I get married anyway. Lol. Probebly it is perfect in warmer days! I remember it with love, and could I find it again I will buy it.

Quite a girly and floral scent. Fresh and green. On the dry down it smells powdery and a little soapy. I wore this alot as a teen. Not quite my thing now but was very found of it at the time. Loved the design of the bottle too. Great for the summer

just couldn't get past the opening which is so sharp it hurt my nose. it has its fans, but on me, this is not the thing.

Fragrance Review For Vie Privee Yves Rocher Notes Freesia Narcissus Lilac Rose Iris THE PRIVATE LIFE OF FLOWERS As far as Yves Rocher fragrances go, this is their simplest, most unassuming and plainest floral fragrances. It's like someone put together the five flowers of rose, iris, lilac, freesia, and narcissus into a bowl of water. One would imagine that it wouldn't smell that good but it's a Rocher and the chemists behind the fragrance did a superior job of giving it as much projection and perfumy goodness as they could deliver. It's a bit like quality floral toilet water, not quite a rosewater or violet water, but a kind of mixture of various florals assembled together in a green concoction of freshness as well as powder. It's unmistakably feminine, mature, womanly, elegant, sophisticated and very very French. It's a French lady's fragrance. It isn't vulgar with too many notes and it doesn't even have any base notes. This is a linear fragrance of floral purity. At the beginning all I smelled was white roses, like the soapy rose in Chanel No. 22. It's clearly soapy with a rose scent but I love that. Then it turns into a white floral narcissus and freesia, to match up with the white rose. So from the start it's a white floral fragrance. Divine. But wait. Then the floral notes transform into purple colors of violet, iris and lilac. There's definitely a lilac and a distinct iris which for whatever reason does not become too powdery. For me this is more soapy than powdery. Clean, fresh, sweet, and supremely floral. It wears like a clean blouse, like a lovely body lotion or hand soap. There is an almost virginal (but mature virginal not child virgin) type of aroma. She is a woman who loves the lady like aspects of flowers and floral fragrances, but would probably not accept flower from gentlemen in exchange for kisses. She is a French matriarch who has a private life with flowers she cultivates herself. This is probably why they named this fragrance Vie Privee which translates to Private Life in French. It's sedate and a bit boring, but for it's flowery sweetness and goodness, I love it. I wish there had been more flowers but these are only a few flowers on vases in a little house in the country. We are not meant to suffocate with flowers but breathe and inhale the sweetness of the rose, narcissus, freesia, lilac iris and (unlisted) violet. This is freshly floral and easy to wear to any place at any time. Casual. Simple. A perfume to apply after your bath and to get you through your mornings. Lovely

I found this beauty from my local flea market. Almost full bottle, perfect condition, total vintage treasure. At first when I put it on I didn't like it because it was so soapy and painfully green. After one hour the scent is completely different. It smells like summer forest after rain, soft lily of the valley, lilac, little white flowers and velvety handcream. This smells like those first chilly summer days when everything is fresh and pure. This is suitable for every age. I like it a lot but it's too "innocent" fragrance for full time use for me. I'm going to use this at home when I'm all day in my pajamas wanting to feel fresh and peaceful.

My mom had quite a thing with Yves Rocher back in the early to mid-90s. She abandoned Avon overnight and bought and bought and bought from those catalogs. I had almost all of the Yves Rocher perfumes as she would get them for me. This was by far my favorite of their scents. I recall it as having a sharp, synthetic initial blast that quickly settled into a fresh, green floral. I also remember all those discontinued Yves Rocher perfumes staying very close to the skin so I was able to wear them to work without offending my boss, a man who claimed to hate perfume. I'd love to smell it again.

A cross between Cabotine Gres and Elizabeth Arden Red Door. It is a quiet beauty and something that could easily be a signature fragrance. Light floral with depth and no candy. I like it a lot. Update: This is quite a chameleon and it is a mystery to me. Sometimes it is so floral, other times it is green and fresh, other times it is soapy, some rare times it is like a green version of Versace Red Jeans. It amazes me every time. It is very intimate and sexy in a natural way.

The lilac note in this is exquisite! The first twenty minutes or so of this is heavenly and evokes a country pathway in springtime: clear, lovely fresh florals in gentle sunshine. But boy, do I hate the dry down. There’s a plastic musky scent that smells like cheap hairspray to me. Could be synthetic sandalwood, maybe? Gives me a headache. **I have a mini with just a bit left that I’d be happy to send to someone who loves this one.

Don't ask me why but the Jazmin scent from Campos de Ibiza smells exactly like this on me! I kept wondering where I recognized it from and then it finally dawned on me... from years and years ago... Yves Rocher's Vie Privee! The way it used to smell, not the new series. So clean and soft.. If you love this and cannot find it anymore try Campos de Ibiza's Jazmin scent!

I've purchased a bottle for my mother's birthday about 10 years ago and she became fond of it. I remember it was a delicate floral perfume, very pure and uncomplicated, evoking a walk in springtime between meadows and gardens with blossoming trees and flowers. I'm not sure it could be still purchased from Yves Rocher.

Old school scent, bought it out of nostalgia second hand. Am going to see if I can spice it up by combining it. Noa Cacharel 3/1 Vie Privee (good combination)

It's an amazing perfume.I can definitely smell lilac, daffodils & rose, but when it dries out, it smells like honeycomb on me. Love it!
