After one spray test during the quest of Oud fragrance. It just not enough. So I leave him. Dare I say, don’t care? However, after a while I come back to crave the woody fragrance again.. so I tried searching my archive, I found him again and decide to rewear. There is so much to say about YSL 37 RDB. Because it is so complete, it is full package. It’s truly need a few wears to understands the composition because it blends to perfection There 4 keys of this fragrance are - Orris - Amber (Incense, Benjoin) - Green (Juniper Essence, Nagarmotha) - Oud Orris in this, as you know powdery and dense, this is aspect that you can resemblance DHP the most. However, this is no wear near the DHP, I explain more now. Amber (Incense, Benjoin) here are borrowed by the same line Caftan. That oriental smoke, incense are blends here perfectly. Green edge (spicy, aromatic) this is the part that set this one apart but don’t show in websites . The elemi, sour like quality show here. With Incense/Benjoin note This create Oriental effect. Oud in this, are truly not real. This is more on ruff side and wood like with not really create the same benyard effect like Ombre Nomade. However, this add the woody backbone to the scent. Even Oud / Balsumic amber here is very beautiful and dominant but it warps by Iris powder. Therefore, easily misslead. But you got moderate load or everything, blends into perfection, anyone describe as pure luxury scent I do agree. It would work perfectly in corporate setup function, a sharp seller or entrepreneur. I was thinking about more woody version of it so I look at YSL24 as this a bit too powdery. But consider every aspect are show perfectly here maybe I should not brother. Ysl 37 really can’t answer that. When compare to other woody leans scent. YSL still much powdery iris, soft incense accord. I would classify this as darker iris fragrance, I can’t say this is bois fragrance.

All due respect, but there is nothing aquatic about this. Not sure where the previous reviewers are getting that, but I know that aquatic is a four letter word to a lot of people around here, so I had to chime in so that interested readers aren't unfairly dissuaded. On the contrary, it's a really rich iris bomb melody with a very smoothed out but prominent wood harmony. I can't detect the benzoin per se, but there is something hinting at a resinous vanillic sweetness that ties everything together, so I'm guessing that's what that is. In short, it's one of the more well blended fragrances in my collection (own a FB of the 120 ml) that could rival the likes of Xerjoff or Frederic Malle but at a better value. Longevity is great, quality is about as good as it gets, and it really does hit the sweet spot of being unique, rich, bold but appealing, and light yet firmly grounded. Not sure why this seems to be under the radar but do yourself a favor and check it out if you can find it. It's truly a hidden gem! For all Dior Homme Parfum lovers, this is a MUST TRY. 37 opens very similar to that Iris note of DHP + a clean oud accord. Where DHP's intro is all Iris + sweet citrus + leather, 37 opening is iris + bright citrus + oud. Your mind will trick you into smelling that Cacao backbone on the Dior Homme line until the heart of the fragrance. Without going into Nuit de Feu territory, the fragrance develops into a benzoin, oud, incense combo that I feel is rounded/softened with an ambergris/musk note. This last piece is what makes the fragrance addictive and romantic. It is not harsh, on the contrary, I would say this is warm elegance. Night time scent most likely, mysterious and sophisticated, but also delicate and romantic. As a reference, to me DHP is not very romantic. It is quite mysterious and abstract. I find it to be an experience fragrance vs being engineered to be attractive to the opposite sex. Particularly because of the conceptual dry down of cacao/leather accord.

This perfume marked the beginning of my journey to the niche category. Not only did I fall in love with it, and purchased it 2 days after I first smelled it, but it also made me realise my love for the fragrance world. The smell is so premium and touches every aspect that I love in a perfume. It is elegant and projects a sweet austerity without being rude like other masculine strong perfumes. The only problem is the longevity and the projection which are not satisfying at all for the price point. The truth is that other people tell me they smell it more than I do to myself, but still I am sure it is not even close to how other perfumes perform. It is pretty unique, the only thing I smelled and did have some similarities with it is Dior Homme Intense and Prada’s Dark light. I also own Muse which is so different but incomparably sexy. 24 RdU from the same line is my next target. Equally addictive.

I came here today to say, while going on a boutique tour, i noticed that YSL has these as their boutique exclusives. There were no other fragrances in that boutique, but the black bottle 3. I’ve had my 3 at the start of COVID, purchased right from YSL. At the time they ran for, if i can remember correct, $280. Give or take. Never knew they are exclusives. Anyway , while seeking just to leave the whole exclusive observation on here, i noticed some of you saying how this doesn’t last. Mine last. And last. All of mine lasted from the point of purchase and still last, with no discernible difference. I mean, 10+hrs kinda last. Reformulation? Perhaps. Although i noticed they change the bottle a bit (new leather labeling to reflect their leather products, i was told), i didn’t spray the new bottles. Maybe I’ll go back one day to see.

A dark Gothic scent of oud and elemi that hints of the sacred and the profane at the same time (like attending high mass while going commando "wink'). Seamlessly blended and exudes a uniform smoky/ oud-ish sweet scent that remains slightly unchanged thru the duration of its scent trail, like a veil of dark fragrant smoke. This reminds me of Acqua di Parma Oud Concentree, though that one is fresher/ more citrusy. This juice is not like Dior Homme, and definitely not even close to aquatic as some would suggest. Beautiful, sensual, classy. But detached, even mysterious. And though unisex, this one leans slightly masculine. Highly recommended!

Squid is similar to 37 Rue but different enough to appreciate and own both. Squid is cold water and 37 Rue is lukewarm water. 37 Rue is an amazing scent with excellent longevity. Do not think of this as aquatic per say, because it doesn't fit the category of older style aquatics from the 80's. 90's, and into the 2000's, but is part of a new aquatic trend on the same shelf as Sel Marin, Oud Minerale, and Squid. This is an uplifting scent and does not disappoint.

Mon préféré de la trilogie, celui dont on parle le moi pourtant. Mon attache à cet odeur est vraiment subjective, elle m'évoque un tissus luxueux, épais, texturé. Ça sent l'hôtel qui coûte cher. Je saurai pas trop en dire plus, c'est compliqué d'élaborer quand on aime vraiment quelque chose, peut-être parce qu'on a pas vraiment envie d'expliquer ce qui nous y plaît.

very mysterious oud iris and amber scent, oud isn't really overpowering and it complements the iris really nicely, feels like a more sophisticated DHI more iris than anything but i love iris, honestly the best out of the 3 edition couture YSL private lines imo and really underrated

A stunning scent bubble of luxurious blend wraps me every time I wear this amazing perfume, no matter day or night. Stay with me the whole day without being loud or annoying. This is just gorgeous work of art.

Altho this is an Iris scent it's TOTALLY different than DHP. This is it's own thing. However, i will go so far as to say if you like one, it's safe to say you will like the other.

I love this stuff one of the underrated gems from this stellar line.

@Khalid Deria You're probably right about that but on YSL Canadian website it says Quentin is behind this fragrance and its probably a mistake, they need to change it. Anyway I got this fragrance 3 weeks ago (new bottle) and it smells good but the performance is terrible, weak projection, very powdery and light almost like it's watered-down. Very weak. Batch is 6 months old, bought here in Sweden from Åhléns and they dont sell fakes.

This one starts dry (mostly incense, forget about the oud, it is not very noticeable) and then evolves quickly into something powdery. Orris root makes sense, with benzoin adding a more resinous dimension. What comes to mind is "dark and mysterious". Overall, 37 rue de Bellechasse "smells luxurious" and very safe, without ever being overpowering. Unisex, maybe a bit more masculine.

I don’t know why but I get a boozy note but it is not listed. It is strong and dark yet powdery, velvety. Initially I loved it but by the time I lost my interest. I tested but I decided I don’t need a full bottle. Compare to similar scents like DHP and gentlemen, this feels much more niche. Totally suitable for night and dressed up events.

Beautiful Iris and amber scent. YSL Trench smells better with a similar Iris note. 37 is good, but the performance was subpar. 8.2/10 scent 6/10 performance. Pass for me

It just came so Im not really sure about it yet but what I can tell is that it smells nothing like DHP even if they’re in the same range, but I feel the quality

It reminds me of Gucci Rush for Men. I loved it back then and for me this is very close.

A more in control version of Gucci Oud Intense that has added powder, but not done as good and forgettable. Think Gucci Oud Intense had a baby with Prada Luna Rose Black. Extremely well blended, hard to pick out the notes. There might be the note of Tonka, that darkens the frag and gives it a sweet powerless to it. A note of Incense to give it a real smokiness. The note of Oud here is calm & reserved, more woody note than high quality Oud oil, i can barely detect it. So the Oud here is a supporting role not the main actor. A note of Benzoin that gives it this early 1980's luxury fashion perfumery note to it that is much much stronger in Gucci Oud Intense. This is a very balanced and boring fragrance, that smells fairly elegant. Test first dna to see if it's to your liking, but imo you can pass on this. 2.5/5 Woofs

The opening is absolutely gorgeous. The blast of iris is breathtaking. Floral, velvety/powdery, with a hint of cocoa powder. Unfortunately, the dry down is very forgettable. It's just a nondescript woody(NOT Oud-y), powdery, slightly musky smell. There's no distinct DNA; nothing that's so unique and memorable. Projection was very weak, too!(18°C in London) At £320 a bottle, I think(and I should) get more than a beautiful opening. I should smell it on myself for at least 2 hours, but it's really not the case. Where are you my perfect iris? I'm still looking for you!!

Lipsticky, powdery orris root, followed by an amber benzoin. Not my favourite but it dries to a nice scent. Not my favourite from the YSL prive line.

I was nervous about purchasing my sample because I was expecting it to be too masculine. Also, I haven't been the biggest fan of YSL scents in the past - they don't usually work with my body chemistry and the notes clash. Upon first application - I got a bit of "ick" that reminded me of other YSLs. That passed within seconds as the oud develops, and a few minutes later I'm left with a powdery woody orris + oud with the slightest sweetness and spiciness. It's tricky to identify the individual notes. If it is the oud I'm picking up on, it is fresh, soft and unisex, not sharp, rich and masculine like so many other ouds I've had to give away. On my skin, I'm getting a nice spiced woody orris/iris powder, not cloying baby powder. When people talk about "expensive makeup scents" and powdery orris scents, this is what I've always wanted, but never could find. As this fragrance dries down, the powder warms up and spices up more and more. This scent is very addictive. As far as powdery scents go, this is one of my favorite ones I've come across. I also really like Givenchy's L'Ange Noir which is sweeter softer and more femme than this, but still had a sarkness to it that's magnetic. I read this as slightly more masculine opening with a more feminine-leaning dry down, but it's primarily a smoky woodsy scent that would smell great on anyone regardless of gender. Hands down my favorite YSL fragrance to date. A bit more pricy than I prefer, but I ended up splurging on a secondhand bottle, because this is THAT addictive. Thankfully, these bottles are huge, this will last me forever. The bottle is very nice, clean, simple, with a great magnetic cap thing going on that I wish some of my other bottles had.

I have no idea why oud is written here, there is no oud in this perfume in the world. However, it is a very pleasant scent, the opening is definetly beautiful, then it quickly becomes an almost single soft incense. It is not too strong, it does not last very long, but it is a greatly useable scent for the alldays. Your won’t get a personality from this perfume, so if you are looking for salvation in the form of a most unique, strongest, screaming scent, then there is no place for you here, but if you are already an adult who has real confidence, and you have a good set of values, then this is a great scent.

If you want to get rich in just one night and to be seen around you and give you a feeling of luxury and you don't have a dollar in your pocket, this is the undisputedly awaited perfume. If you are a fan of the oud note, but it is not the usual strong animal repulsive note, but the light, youthful and elegant oud, which is blended in a professional way, as when adding orris and benzoin with musk, this oud perfume gives a feeling of good narcissism and forgiving vanity, thanks to the right mixing method and the way the notes are arranged in Appearance, emission, and reaction during the day. overall: 10/10.

The vibe here is nearly as dark as the bottle. Let’s talk about Nagarmotha. Also known as Indian cypress, which provides a somewhat warm, woodsy element. A rare, exotic and herbaceous note in perfumery. Accompanied by pepper, oud and patchouli... 37 Rue de Bellechasse gets more mysterious. There’s a moment of freshness from juniper, but easily missed. There is an incense note, suppressed by orris and musk. The combination gives the impression that there is leather in this composition. I wear this fragrance when I want to smell like a villain. It draws attention and eye squinting curiosity.

Initial impression: It either smells a lot like bois d'argent or someone sent me wrong sample. Second impression: oh ok, it's like bois d'argent but has an oudy backbone, but not too much oud which I'm thankful for. It's fully, dryer, less sweet than d'argent, although, I think i'm detecting some tonka bean and now armani code profumo is coming to mind. Leathery tonka. We'll see what third impression brings.

Severely underrated. Neiman's rep says I have impeccable smell and this is a 5 star for me. Stays on scarfs for 2 months. Versatile and very strong oscillating between different notes. Too strong at first for my girl but after work she will come closer and say "what is that you smell amazing!" Incredible value for 4.2oz and better than many other boutique brands!

A dry wind blows in from the East and then a sweet benzoin incense steps into a tart, powdery dry down! Absolute LOVE @ first sniff! My first impression was MFK’s original OUD. That’s a pretty high compliment, coming from a MFKP lover of everything he creates.

Something about this smells like bad breath. Not enough for the overall scent to be bad but it's odd. Smells absolutely NOTHING like Dior Homme Parfum. The 7 people who voted them similar must have busted noses.

Oudy, leathery, ambery. Very dark fragrance that I quite enjoy. There is some sweetness that permeates the dark maturity of it. That said, it smells to me like the fragrance of an older, wealthy gentlemen

Tested this today for the 2nd time... now I need it! I had my friend smell Baraonda, then she smelled this and said that’s your next purchase. Such an amazing smell I can’t wait to own it.

The oud in here is a nice wearable oud for all of us who are afraid of oud. It’s just a tiny bit leathery. Nice perfume. As a female I will wear this along with my hubby.

Bottle’s different this year, but it’s still by Cécile and Julie. Not Quentin! Real joker scent easy to wear anytime anywhere any day 10/10🤠
