Baby Doll

I'm so shocked to see people describing this scent as sweet, and I'm certainly shocked to see rose listed as the most noticeable note here because, on me, this is a fresh, juicy, citrussy fragance. I must say, I LOVE this one and I never get tired of it. It's fresh and juicy and, at the same time, it feels elegant (it's YSL after all, isn't it?). This really smells like grapefruit to me, combined with other juicy notes, and I think they got the notes wrong in this website, the official YSL website describes it as: "Flirty, fun, forever young... a happy-go-lucky fragrance that lives in the moment. Like a top spinning, the opening accord amuses with newly ripened grapefruit, then teases with witty turns of wild rose and spicy red currant. The base notes that follow--cedar, grenadine and new peach--linger momentarily, only to whirl anew. In a faceted crystal flacon reminiscent of a spinning top." And that makes a lot more sense than the Fragantica description. There's definitely grapefruit in this one, and there's nothing sweet about it (no tonka, vanilla, etc.). It's light and fun but it lasts a pretty long time and it projects well. I also believe this is not the most popular YSL scent, so most people like this, but when I tell them what it is, they have never heard of it, which to me is great: it's a really original scent! By the way, this starts as a pink liquid and it becomes almost transparent after a while, so don't be surprised if it changes color. And you can also find it quite cheap because of its low popularity. Have fun with this one! I LOVE it!

I found a YSL Baby Doll 100ml bottle perfume in a box put away in storage (in 2009/2010 when I put away baby items with some other memorabilia). There’s a little over 50ml left. I’ve totally forgotten I had it. I’ve been dreaming to get my hands on a bottle of Baby Doll for years! It is just as good as I remember, probably even better now that I could refresh my palate of the specific scent. The colors have all faded but the amazing scent is there! It does have the grapefruit scent many have mentioned. The grapefruit pulp scent to be exact. Bitter, fruity (not sweet nor fresh) and freshly peeled. When I saw rose in the list, I thought no way would I ever have liked perfume with rose in it. But it’s a very fresh and delicate rose, a very light pink. When you smash the petals and they break, and give off a delicate aroma of the juices in the petals. And to my surprise I like it very, very much. The specific aroma of the rose is what took me back 20 years when I sniffed the perfume. I think this is the perfume where my love for black currant began and it also has lily of the valley which is my all time fav component in a fragrance. I remember when I saw it on the perfume shelves of a luxury store in 1999, my mom was looking for a perfume for herself (I remember it was JPG Fragile, “the glamorous snowball” scent). And in 2002, when I had my first adult money, I bought YSL Baby Doll for myself.

I love this perfume! There is no pink grapefruit listed in the notes but I get a very realistically pink grapefruit note, Rose and maybe some sweet pineapple. I never know what they are doing with this - one minute it’s discontinued then it’s back then gone again... I wish they would just consistently keep it in stock! It’s my favourite YSL scent after Premieres Roses (Ali’s difficult to find). It’s a simple but very happy, energizing and pretty scent. I find that the pink grapefruit note keeps is quite bright and lovely for the summer. Sillage is quite good (not monstrous) but better than I might expect from a pretty bright citrus rose. I think that it may get passed over because the concept may not appeal to everyone but that’s unfortunate because I think it really is a beautiful and somewhat unique fragrance. It was my signature fragrance for about a year in my early 20s but I still love wearing it. I have a tiny little bit left and I’ve been using it up a bit liberally this summer so i should probably slow down. : )

Baby Doll is not my favorite perfume. I only ever had this one bottle because I knew that its days were numbered and it was too good to just let it pass. Once I had this strange conversation with a friend about gourmand perfumes and is there a way to do them right. Can they be interesting, complex, elegant, dignified even? Along with fun and addictive? We came to agrement that Baby Doll is all that. It's also one made rather early, when gourmands were not a norm, but a rare phenomenon. Then is it really a gourmand? It's not that sweet. Since it made us both salivate, we agreed that it was. On the other occasion I used it as a easy exemple of sparkling or fizzy, effervescent even in perfumes. Quality or texture not that common. Although, it's not my favorite, I believe that it was technicaly too good to discontinue. I know that In Love Again is not that different, and it's the closest potential replacement, but it laks sparkle. Then, even In Love Again is getting harder and harder to find.

I wore this the year it was launched and loved it. I noticed then immediately how it reminds me of "InLoveAgain" by the same house! I remember when I pressed the "this perfume reminds me of" button here, long time ago when no one here noticed that similarity, I was the first. Anyway, I were ignoring "BabyDoll" almost 2 decades!! I repressed its love in my soul and took it for granted, thinking I will purchase it one day. Yesterday I were visiting this page and were horrified to know it is discontinued, I immediately visited their official website and OMG it wasn't on the perfume list there, it means it is officially stopped from manufacturing! Long story short; I wend today and purchased 4 bottles from a local shop, 2 of the 50ml and 2 of the100ml, I'm really doing myself a favor, to not feel guilty afterwards.... I learned my lessons well. PS: the lady in YSL counter didn't know about this tragedy and said: "no body told me that!"

This is going to sound a little weird, but stay with me here... I'm pretty sure I found a fairly close dupe for this fragrance, minus a bit of the sweetness that the pineapple note in this fragrance brings. So... I blind bought Chloe Nomade EDP based on someone I follow on YouTube and really didn't love it, I felt like it was missing something... so I tried wearing it with other fragrances I own and discovered something of a close dupe when I wore Chloe Nomade EDP with Kayali Citris 08. I didn't quite believe what I was smelling but I then checked the notes and between the 2 fragrances they have almost all of the notes in YSL Baby Doll. Obviously this is not a cheap option, so I suggest you test it first to see what you think. Tbh it's missing some of the sweetness as I said, but to me it's pretty close.. would love to hear the thoughts from others that try it.

Okay my fellow Baby Doll lovers, I have a find for you all. I just received a roll-on of Al-Rehab Sabaya, put it on and it is giving Baby Doll in a huge way. If you've been searching for a replacement like I have, and nothing has hit that balance of citrusy without being sweet and a fresh, sunlit rose, check this out. I have been missing Baby Doll forever and this is bringing instant joy. And I agree with the last reviewer, Baby Doll was available at Macy's in 1999 as well. I was working at the Shiseido counter at the time, and we were positioned adjacent to the perfume counter. I got it for myself as a Christmas gift that year, and yes, I'm 100% certain because the months leading up to 2000 are unforgettable for anyone who lived through it.

The saddest I have ever been about a discontinued fragrance. Knowing it is gone makes me feel like I am facing the inevitability of loss and the impermanence of innocence. The world seems harsher and more unforgiving knowing that the scent that is so strongly bound in my brain to innocence is now a near extinct creature. This is an incredibly nostalgic scent for me, one of the first perfumes my mother gifted to me as a young child, maybe even 9 or 10 years old when it first came out, My sister received YSL Paris and I YSL Baby Doll, I was the youngest child, my mother's little girl and this fragrance will always remind me of the eternal hope I had at that age. A poignant reminder that life is beautiful and fleeting.

I bought this as a pressie for a family member, but before giving it to her, I used it myself as I cudnt resist the cute bottle and the pink juice. At first it reminded me of a generic perfume from Avon that I didn't much care about.... and then suddenly my 11 year old son told me I smell fresh like shower gel! The more I thought about it, the more the smell grew on me. It became my fave fruity perfume and I esp love the grapefruit in this. It actuli smells like grapefruit. So fresh and the hints of florals and citruses are lovely! I ended up not giving it to my family member, and gave them something else instead. 😄

This could be the best perfume I’ve ever had, so pity it’s discontinued... why... I believe it is the best perfume even a legendary of perfume world. Not just floral and fruity, it has something addicting and fun. I’m obsessed with it. Finished up a 100ml bottle then noticed it’s been discontinued.... so shocked and sad... I found few backups in 30 and 50ml bottles like total in 5. It contains my 20th times and for me it’s timeless, attractive, brilliant, beautiful, I heard some ppl said YSL make it re-production every year, I’m not sure, maybe it’s true. Otherwise I couldn’t find any backups. Love it!

I love this, I got it immediately when it first came out, the YSL assistant told me it was their version of Paris for young girls and teens. Once the fruity top notes die down the roses do come out sweetly. Paris is my signature so of course I have a bias towards this similar perfume. This also has the fruitiness of Liberty Fizz by Nina Ricci, sadly discontinued. For me this is the ideal young scent, playful, sweet without being overpowering, a gorgeous bottle, cute name, not too expensive. I agree with another reviewer that the notes listed here are incorrect. I am sure there is no blackcurrant.

For a long time I was really sad it got discontinued. My mother used this fragance every day when I was younger and when I grew up I loved it for myself too. She had the more clear bottle tho, not this pink one (I don’t know if they smell alike). Recently I bought my lastest discovery, wich I totally fell in-love with: “Girl of now SHINE” by Elie Saab and as I smelled it I realized that if you mix it with a rose/woody perfume (in my case I tried with Body by burberry) it smells really similar to Baby doll. Hope this is helpful to anyone who loved baby doll as much as I do

This smells like the cool older girls in highschool in the very early 00s. It makes me nostalgic for the fashion and pop culture of that era. As for the scent itself, it's quite refreshing, fruity floral, almost clean. It looks like the color hot pink feels to me, but it's not sweet or candy-like. It reminds me of shampoo smell to be honest, but a luxurious one. Maybe even a laundry detergent, but one that smells so good you wish they made a perfume of it. I really like it and think it would be great in the summer but also year round.

This was my signature throughout college. I still love this fragrance. It makes me feel young, fun, daring, and sexy. Despite its obvious fruity nature (especially in the opening), there is something very spicy that develops on my skin, most prominently in colder weather. Maybe it is the pepperiness of the grapefruit-- even though it is not listed as an official note, for me this is the main component that drew me in to the scent. It is not until now, 15 years later, that I realize how rosy it actually is!

Recently rebought this one from eBay. This has been discontinued in my country for years now. I wore this in my twenties and I still miss it. Roses, pineapple, blackcurrant, apple based on woodsy notes. Sweet, innocent and girly. Especially the sweet pineapple notes are a treat in this one. I will never stop having a craving once in a while for baby doll. Yves saint Laurent makes scents that lasts in my memory and on my skin. Longevity and silage is a perfect moderate. Love this for memories and scent.

I loved this perfume,wore it as a teen and felt like a goddess!The ingredients are very balanced and compliment each other,there wasn't one that i could very noticeably detect,they just blended into perfection!I loved it for spring and summer and i would always pair it with a rosey lipstick,tousled hair and dresses. I was very disappointed when it was discontinued but i see it's out again so i'll definitely buy one for old time's sake! Plus,the bottle is extremely cute!

This was one of my early perfumes in 2002/2003. I enjoyed the drydown most, when it turns into a muskier, more intimate version of itself. Husband took a sniff and became possessive, saying it should only be worn for him! LOL. Sad that this was discontinued, Although sniffing it again 20 years later, it is for a much younger version of myself and it has served me well. I do love the sparkle and joy it brings at the initial spray. A beautiful YSL perfume.

Yves Saint Laurent need to stop flogging Black Opium like a dead horse and bring back Baby Doll, In Love Again and Vice Versa etc. They were so much much better in the 90s, fashion and perfume wise! I have a bottle of Baby Doll but sadly it has lost its top notes, I would very careful as a collector forking out hundreds on Ebay for this as this fresh style doesn't tend to hold up over the years. The beauty is still in there but it's not the same.

This day and age something named Baby Doll would be like a Lolita version of Pink Sugar, but in 99-00 it was a fruity floral. It's the citrus and black currant in this that made it seem more innocent and carefree. It's pretty linear, which I don't mind. Not all perfumes have to change for me. I just need a good mid and dry down that I can bear. I wear this mostly as aromatherapy because it reminds me of very good times.

Before Britney Spears moved on the scene we had baby doll. Back in 2005 I received this as a gift from my first high school boyfriend for my birthday. It was so amazing! It came from the YSL counter all wrapped beautifully. I have always owned a bottle up until now, it brings back memories of being younger, carefree and not having a worry in the world.. It's sweet and fresh without being sugary syrup or cheap smelling.

What an amazing memories I have💕I fell in love with this perfume in about 2002 I was 14. And that was long time ago😁but it feels like not, I still remember my first impression of this playful, melodic, joyful, girlish, sweet and charming scent! That is how the sweetest dreams smell like, that is the scent of a pure and safe world where there is no harm and sorrow. I want to buy a vintage one because I miss them!

Gorgeous, youthful, super sexy and elegant. This was one of YSLs very best fragrances. I wore this in the early 2000s, close to an end of an era where perfume houses worked with spices and herbs to a much greater degree than today now its just a couple of notes and perhaps an herb if your lucky. I don't understand why this beauty was discontinued it was a fresh, sexy, semi sweet grapefruity masterpiece.

Wasn't this perfume called "Baby Doll-Paris" like an offshoot or flanker of Paris originally? Not that is anything like Paris of course. I adored this scent years ago, so fresh, sweet and invigorating. I particularly loved the shower mousse that appeared in the gift sets! I currently own a miniature bottle of this, it doesn't seem as strong as I remember it, but still just as lovely.

I just acquired some new, sealed deadstock bottles of YSL's Babydoll. The scent opens with the tonka bean and sandalwood spice mixed with a citrus burst. It finally dries down to a freshly cut rose with the bright greenness of the lily of the valley and freesia and hints of vanilla from the heliotrope flower. There are no powdery notes. This is fresh, spring-summer fragrance.

One perfume that I will love forever. And I will always try to find another of it (so sad it was discontinued). It may smell like a young girl full of hope and dreams, but I believe any mature woman still fells like this sometimes (we will always be this girl). If I have to define one perfect and basic perfume, I would say: Baby Doll from YSL. Please, come back to me.

I am 51.... and I LOVE this fragrance! Am I too old for it perhaps...?? I get great comments when I wear it so I will continue to do so.... age is just a number anyway, isn't it?? And I am very young at heart and am sure that I am going to be 28 forever - so I will embrace Baby Doll and the beautiful feeling I have when I wear it...besides... it's pink :)

I used to wear this one in the 00's. Once, an older lawyer stopped by my office in the company I used to work for, sniffed the air, and asked me if I'd like to have a sugar daddy. I kindly refused but at the end of the month I noticed that my salary was a bit higher. Yes, that's what years of hard work didn't get me but a few drops of Baby Doll did.

I remember my mum wearing it but I was too much of a tomboy teenager at the time to acknowledge how much I actually liked it. Silly girl. I wish I could smell this again. Even if there are similar perfumes today, it won't feel the same because this whole baby doll thing is a package, with the cute bottle, gold cap, sparkling pink liquid and all.

The first time I smelled it, I was in college and it was quite above my possibilities of buying it. But afterwards.. I still felt like a little princess wearing it. Sweet, fruity and flowery, and of course, some vanilla (one of my favourite scents). Now I read it is discontinued, so I will make my quarter of a bottle last as much as I can.

Am wearing a this from a bottle that is twenty plus years old and has been sitting in a book shelf without a cap. It smells fabulous. Bright, clean, fruity and rosy with a lovely smooth woody back bone enhanced by currant and apple. I do not smell lots of tonka or vanilla, but they are there. What a masterpiece of classy freshness.

Maybe it's nostalgia, maybe I become basic, but after all that complex perfumes experiences I really like to dive into non-stop soak of Baby doll :-) It's simple, it's rosy, it's very pleasant and cute. Makes you forget you are busy woman with lots of duties and get into your internal lazy lounge)

My mum wore this perfume when I was young. I was always enchanted by the bottle, it was so pretty with its cut glass, pink liquid and gold lid! It honestly looked magical. It smells wonderful too, powdery rose,fruity and vanillary and pretty! I'd describe it as a pretty perfume. Makes me happy.

With the 2000s making a comeback and the new Barbie movie making everything girly and pink very much in style right now, YSL should absolutely bring this one back. And the matching Baby Doll Kiss&Blush, since liquid blushes are crazy popular right now!

The launch year on this is incorrect. It was in Sephora already Fall of 1999. There is zero chance I'm remembering incorrectly, my memories of this and everything surrounding it are crystal clear. My god, what nostalgia...

I love Baby Doll,it is a sweet,fruity,fresh floral. The rose in this fragrance is beautiful.This fragrance is not overpowering and you can use it day or night.The pink spinning top bottle also looks great.Rating 10/10.

YSL Baby Doll!! First time smelling this scents was a graduation gift in 2001 fell in love instantly. The actual perfume is discontinued. but i'm still able to get it in the oil which is a perfect dupe!

My all time favourite summer fragrance. Wore it for my wedding. Got so many compliments. I’m not usually a fan of fruity fragrances. This was the absolute exception. So sad this is discontinued. 💔

I really miss this perfume, it is my 20s in a bottle, and would love love for YSL to bring it back. I loved the grapefruit note, it was unexpectedly fresh but sexy at the same time.

It is a very pretty, nostalgic scent, but the fragrance is not long lasting. It smells very similar to Jo Malone Brackberry and Bay, which has better projection and lasts longer.

Absolutely loved this when I was younger. Wanted to buy it recently and I discovered that it was discontinued:(!!!!! So sad! Hope they will bring it back.

I remember plurging on this at Dillard's in my early 20's. I still have it, too. It smells very French to me. What I would describe as French, anyways.

Zesty and sweet is what this perfume is. The top four notes give it this wonderfully fruity edge, with the rose makes it feel very playful and fun.

I absolutely love my Baby Doll perfume, I have had a lot of bottles, and I will always have a copy of my beloved perfume, it is made for me!

I miss it. I also remember it having a sophisticated metallic undertone. Also it dried down so prettily, inlike most of the lux fragrances.

I expected baby doll to be a very sweet rosey scent,but as soon as I spray it,there is a whiff of juicy tart fruits..I get a mixture of lots of orange and pineapple,also black current,some green apples and even berrylike fruits,all fruits are fresh and almost sourish,I really don't like the opening part.after some time,middle notes show up,fruits still linger on my skin,but not that dominant and not that sour,floral sweetness mellows fruity tartness,I like this stage more..there is still no rose,as a note that stands out,not much sweetness either so I'm a bit disappointed I can get the orange candy comparison that some reviews have made,there is some orange but not enough sweetness to make this an Orange candy for me After flowery middle notes,it starst to fade..I can't detect any basenotes which is again a disappointment Babydoll is a nice floralfruity,light summery scent,it's fun,carefree and youthful and not as childish as I've thought Longevity is less than moderate,almost weak and sillage is soft,except first minutes that the citrusy,fruity blast has a good sillage Long story short,although a nice smelling fragrance,I expected much more..I'm still happy that I've added this adorable 1oz bottle to my collection,it really looks lovely To be honest,a sweeter,less citrus dominant lanvin rumeor2 rose,was what I imagined babydoll to smell like ❤❤❤ After couple of months I retried it and now I'm starting to like it Now I can pickup something more than just tart fruit juice.now I can detect rose and light flower notes in it but I can't call it a rosey scent. Recently a friend of mine bought a bottle of baby doll and she likes a lot though she's a rose hater,she claims that rose is light here and very well blended with other notes so doesn't make it all about herself I can also detect it's base notes now.there's powdery vanilla, a hint of cedar,soapy-creamy sandalwood and I can pick up something like a powdery, clean musk or maybe cashmeran.with my chemistry it's drydown is all about clean,soft and delicately sweet powder.not a vintage powder or baby powder.it's a powdery,even slightly soapy floral-woody-vanilla scent while still a hint of fresh fruit/citrus notes lingers beneath I like it's fresh,sparkly,flirty and girly fruity-floral phase as well as it's more grown up,sensual,clean rosey-woody-powdery drydown. It's not as weak as I thought. Longevity passes 5 hours point on my skin which is satisfying for a summery fruity floral IMO.it's very very pretty bottle and it's easy to like youthful scent make it a great choice as a gift for a young female Unlike most of yves saint laurent perfumes, baby doll isn't popular in my country. People don't know it and it's very difficult to find(I just know one shop which has it,even perfume shops don't have it).I believe perfume shops in here have to bring it since it's going to be a bestseller,it's easy to like,a crowd pleaser Well I can't say I love it but I like and enjoy it alot.if I can find it easily I may repurchase it after sometime but I won't order it from abroad twice it's normal price,as I did with my first bottle.I've almost finished my 1oz and I like to have a full bottle since it looks even more gorgeous with it's pink liquid If you'd like a non zesty citrusy/fruity rosey perfume with a touch of powder,wood and sweetness give it a try ❤❤❤❤

This perfume is very unusual to me. The first time I smelled it was over ten years ago when I was just 11 or 12. My girlfriends and I smelled it in a department store and all of us fell in love with it. I was never able to purchase it because it was out of my budget at the time, and it is very hard to find. Several years later, I had moved and my best friend was looking for perfume and we stumbled on this one, and I squealed seeing it again after many years, and my best friend bought it, so again, I let a friend purchase it and just sniffed her enviously when we were together. I finally have a bottle of my own now at last, and it was worth the wait. In my mid-20's this perfume is still fun and not too young, although I would say it is a very young scent. The first and most potent note I detect is grapefruit, but it is not described as any of the notes. The smell starts very fruity and fresh, I smell grapefruit, pineapple and raspberry. It has such an unforgetable combination of retro floral and modern warm fruit as the scent opens up to a very rose scent. The bottom notes are hard to detect, although there is definetly a scent of sandalwood, and the longevity of this perfume is not that impressive. It starts very strong so it's hard to find the right amount that will last without going over board and burning your sinuses, as this is a very potent scent. Impossible to forget, and definetly not for everyone, this is for the girl that likes unusal, young and yummy scents.
