I love this fragrance with passion!! It’s the most luxurious, sophisticated, smooth, creamy blend of white lily, ylang ylang with sweet, marine accords, vanilla and clean musk. Smells so rich, it’s divine in my opinion. Smells so intoxicating, upscale and expensive and I want to bathe in it, that’s how much I love Capeline... This is the fragrance to take with you on your Euro summer vacation. Or any exotic destination to be quite honest. It might challenge the number one spot for the best ylang ylang fragrance in collection and dethrone Ylang Ylang Nosy Be! I have to wear them side by side to decide whether it’s the case. But with Ylang Ylang Nosy Be I have a love affair for years...Capeline is the new fling! I own a few of lily, ylang ylang, tropical leaning perfumes, designer and niche, but feel like I don’t have anything so alluring and gorgeous as Capeline. It’s an elegant floral fragrance, very attractive and feminine. It was instant love for me and couldn’t leave YSL counter without a bottle! It’s also very pricey but I regret nothing...Will update about the way it performs in a couple of days. Update August 2024: the performance is great on Capeline. It’s not a beast mode scent, but it’s an intense one. Got me several compliments. As far as the intensity of ylang ylang goes, after testing it side by side with Ylang Ylang Nosy Be, Ylang Ylang Nosy Be wins by far. Capeline is beautiful and has a prominent ylang ylang note, but it’s more lily forward than ylang ylang. Therefore, Perris Monte Carlo’s perfume is still my number one scent in my collection that I feel it highlights the best the note of ylang ylang!

This is a very interesting mature white floral scent that carries an aquatic body with it. There are absolutely no indoles in this one, whoever says this smells pissy aka rotten lilies is most likely prejudiced or has the nose of a Belgian Malinois. The opening does not even smell like lilies, as the citrus, ylang and sea water take over the scene rather strongly. I was disappointed after spraying it on the paper, as I am a lover of lily, indoles and ceremonial fragrances. The opening is fresh marine and slightly floral with some sweetness. I was surprised some hours later when i arrived home to discover the paper strip evolved dramatically now that the citrus notes were gone and the lilies stood out better covered in a breeze of fresh ocean water. The white musk and vanilla compliment it and offer a very gentle suave warm-skin like drydown. I see this as purely unisex, a fresh-white-flowers-with-shadow-and-intimacy type of perfume.

I picked this up at Neiman's in Palo Alto at the weekend as a blind buy. First off, the steely grey juice is stunning. At first spray I was overwhelmed with the kind of satisfaction one can only feel when winning the blind buy Russian Roulette. This fragrance is European sophistication in a bottle. It evokes visions of a simple linen dress and wide-brimmed hat while sitting on a beach chair or a yacht off the Amalfi Coast. It is a very "old money" vibe. It doesn't have remarkable projection or tenacity, behaving more as a skin scent. (I think that's where everything is going these days with all the new restrictions.) Regardless, this is a must buy if you like smelling like you were born into extreme wealth.

The creamiest prettiest sweet Vanilla Lily. I can smell Ylang in here too even tho it’s not listed. It is not a fresh lily like Baiser Vole by Cartier. Slightly reminds me of Lys Soleia by Guerlains Aqua Allegoria but this one is so much more airier and just so feminine and not as banana sweet like Soleia but more Lily. Also has a vibe of Vert Malachite but I love this one so much more. Hopefully my comparison will give you an idea which direction this fragrance is leaning to. It’s so addicting, I keep smelling myself when I wear it. Gorgeous feminine addition to YSL privet line. They were lacking on feminine scents, I’m super happy to see 2 gorgeous feminine scents added.

I initially stopped in Neiman’s to test Caban from this line because I had heard so many great things about it. After testing it I wasn’t immediately wowed as much as I expected. HOWEVER, The SA mentioned that this was the newest addition to the line and upon testing it, it immediately captivated me. There is something very ethereal and comforting about this scent. It is very creamy, fresh, feminine, and vanilla forward. I get a bit of a violet vibe although it is not in the description. This is a very modern, classic, everyday scent. I cannot stop sniffing my wrist!

"Fairies dancing in white dresses", that's my first impression of this fragrance. However, you gotta love white florals to appreciate this. It is a lily-ylang-tuberose bomb! Lily is the most dominant note here, very realistic and reminds me of La Chasse aux Papillons. It's sweetened up by the ylang-ylang and vanilla, which gives it the same creaminess as in tuberose. Other notes like seawater, neroli, musk and vetiver are subdued, and are only to lift up the fragrance (since some white floral frags can be too heavy and headache-inducing).

I went through all the YSL private line fragrances in store and chose this one on scent alone without reading any reviews or notes. Now reading the notes and reviews. I not sure what some people are smelling as some of the comments on here saying it smells of cat pee or hamsters cage I really don’t get or those saying it’s very feminine. To me it’s perfectly unisex and as a male I absolutely love wearing it. I would never have purchased this based on the notes or reviews. So my advice would be to sample it, you maybe pleasantly surprised.

This is beautiful. I don't think Capeline smells like Rouge Malachite. RM is more of a balmy amber white floral. This one isnt amber, it's def vanilla. There is a salty element as well to keep it from going too sweet and which also brings a tropical element when combined with the ylang ylang. Capeline is beautiful. I own several from this collection and I love them all! The new Rouge Velours is my absolute favorite though!

Capeline is one of my favorite white florals for spring/summer. I don't find the florals to be too indolic or dirty here. Everything is balanced just right. The sea water adds a zing of freshness; something that I think is needed to prevent the florals from getting too funky. I have a sentimental connection to this fragrance because it was one of the first high-end designer bottles I owned and I still love and cherish it.

Salty and lightly citric sea spray infused with photorealistic lily petals. Vanilla permeates through it all, like a breeze. The lily note reminds me so much of Frédéric Malle Lys Mediterranée, but it's much softer and restrained. Best in warm weather, arms' length sillage, lasts around 5 hrs. I'd definitely wear this on holiday at the beach or a resort.

So, So good . It's a delicious feminine white and yellow floral fragrance with an undertone of the a dray Vattiver which gives it some nuttiness and vanilla dray down.

Creamy florals, beach vibes, feminine, beautiful. Would smell great on a woman. Scent 8/10

Living in a tropical country the scenarios of uses I’d get out of Babycat and Tuxedo would be severely limited however Capeline’s white florally nature really convinced me that I had to buy it on the spot at my DFS before going on holiday even though it was never on my radar. Love at first sniff you might call it. Definitely leans much for feminine but for the guys who are able and willing to rock feminine scents, this one’s really nice and classy. Scent: I’ll be straight up, I barely get any citrusy notes in Capeline, just a slightly citrus opening before immediately fading into a very elegant and powerful white floral scent. Lily note in this fragrance is really the main selling point as you can smell it almost the entire duration until it dries down into a slightly sweet vanilla and musky skin scent. Nothing too offensive but definitely don’t overspray it in high heat or you’ll smell like a middle-aged office lady with no social awareness. Performance: On my skin I get quite the performance from Capeline. Sprayed it on my friend while testing and it kinda just smelled like florally cat pee on his skin but on me it works fine. Projects quite strongly on the initial spray and mellows into a decent bubble for a good 4-6 hours before fading into that sweet musky skin scent. I’m a sucker for blind buying fragrance but if you’re a feminine scent lover like myself, I’d recommend you at least try this on skin to see if your body chemistry matches the notes. Versatility: Definitely a good casual or special event scent especially in hotter weather, day and night, if you want to smell classy and presentable as I feel that the heat really makes the floral notes pop. Not really masculine at all but like I’ve mentioned multiple times, those who just want to smell good and aren’t afraid of judgement can definitely rock this beautiful fragrance. Capeline by YSL is one of the least looked upon private line fragrances from the designer house however it is very underrated. This is a heavy floral fragrance with strong notes of lily flowers and neroli throughout the fragrance. It does smell quite similar to the perfume version of Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford. Still, it is longer lasting and much cheaper for the amount of fragrance you get. The smell would be perfect for short and casual occasions in the hotter months as it is a mass-appealing scent so you can't go wrong with it. While many people say this is a more feminine fragrance I would disagree and say that it was perfectly unisex to my nose even though it is very floral throughout the entire dry-down. Now since this is from the private collection the retail price is quite costly at $295 i wouldn't say that it is a good bang for the buck however it's definitely better than getting any of the YSL Y collections for summer. What is slightly disappointing is the overall performance as it is very weak from the YSL private collection however not surprising as it is a summer floral fragrance. It lasts around 4 hours which is quite average yet its sillage is very weak and it can't fill out a room or even be smelled in a nearby distance so to fix this I would recommend doubling or even tripling the amount of sprays you usually do so boost its performance. Scent: 9/10 Performance: 6/10 Longevity: 5/10 Sillage: 4/10 Price: 8/10 Blind Buy Safe: 10/10 Overall: 7/10

Capeline is a lovely, light take on a sweet lily (and white floral) scent. Refreshingly soft and nuanced instead of heavy and cloying, it is still sweet - just nicely balanced. The aquatic notes add a fresh undertone, which, alongside the dominant lily note, reminds me of Frédéric Malle Lys Mediterranée. I love a nicely placed lily note, and here it is beautiful - realistic yet not funereal at all. Capeline opens with just a whisper of citrus before the white floral accord unfolds, led by photorealistic lily. It reminds me of lilies in a garden after a shower of rain - dewy and fresh yet heady. Sweet, slightly tropical ylang ylang rounds it out, alongside unmistakable but restrained tuberose. It becomes powdery as it develops, still with aquatic freshness in the background. As it dries down, vanilla adds sweetness, fading to a sweet, musky skin scent after a little while. Here, Capeline is at its most predictable, but it is beautiful until final fade - with just the right amount of sweetness. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Beautifully composed with high quality ingredients (as you'd expect), Capeline is a fresh (in every sense of the word!) take on a sweet lily scent without pushing boundaries too much. Very wearable and transeasonal, but feminine in my opinion. 4/5.

I have a sample from my fragrance buddy- gorgeous. Opening reminds me of Terracotta Le Parfum but without any indolic notes- the Lily in Capeline is very clean and elevated. The musk was used very judiciously because I don’t perceive it, it’s just cleaning and rounding the florals. Lily, Ylang- Ylang and neroli can comes across as sharp, bitter or funky (indolic/animalic) instead, the florals smell glorious. After the opening I’m getting wafts of vanilla and sea water- this fragrance feels coastal. It has that texture but I’m not getting “sunscreen” this isn’t boring. Wow! This might be FB worthy for me. I’ll have to see how this performs but siliage and projection is above average. Edit: 7/15/25 I now have a full bottle on my collection. Love it

This went from absolutely glorious to meh within 2 hours. The opening is a STUNNING combo of lily, neroli and a hint of ylang ylang. The citrus accompaniment just adds a zing without being too much on the citrus side. The lily is wonderfully creamy with the vanilla in the base, and not sappy like it can present as in other Lily forward fragrances. Alas, within 90 minutes all florals are gone are my skin is left with an overly boring and generic vanilla-ish musky base. Where has the opening burst of happiness gone? This fragrance feels a bit like a mood swing.

This is a delicious feminine yellow floral fragrance with an undertone of nuttiness. It is reminiscent of another female perfume that I’m struggling to pinpoint. Very beautiful salty tropical floral. The ylang ylang is prominent here and reminiscent of Datura Noir by Miller Harris.
